Park Ji-Young, a 22-year-old crew member and cafeteria worker, was on duty that day. Most of the ship's passengers were with her in the ship's third-deck recreation area. The person at the helm was an inexperienced 26-year-old third mate named Park Hyun-kul. This was her first time navigating this route. Meanwhile, captain Lee Joon-seok had gone back to his quarters when disaster struck. Terrified students recalled how Park helped them find their way to safety as the ship began to sink, telling them to head for the the fourth deck. As the ferry rapidly took on water, captain Lee told passengers to stay where they were. Trusting the crew, many passengers heeded the advice and waited for rescue even as the water rose. But Park gathered life jackets for the high schoolers and got many of them to rescue boats. They pleaded for her to join them. "After saving you, I will get out ... the crew goes out last," Park told them, not keeping a life jacket for herself. Meanwhile Captain Lee and the young woman piloting the ferry scuttled themselves of the doomed ship onto the safety of rescue boats. Park went back inside. There were still nearly 300 people who hadn't found a way out. But it was too late. The ship took less than two hours to fully capsize. Those people remain trapped. Authorities believe most have either drowned or suffocated. Rescue crews pulled whoever they could from the water, dead or alive. Ji Young Park was found floating face down. She was dead. Four of the ship's crew including the captain Lee and the third mate are under arrest and will face charges for failing to help passengers. A doctor at the rescue base says the captain identified himself as a passenger after his rescue. Hoping that Park Ji-Young's name is remembered long after Lee's is forgotten, some South Korean web users are asking the government to allow Park to be burried in the National Cemetery, a place normally reserved for past presidents and war heroes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Boy lives in Texas Walmart for two days: Runaway teen makes store his home

01:33
A 14-year-old boy constructed two secret compounds inside a 24-hour Walmart in Corsicana, Texas, where he lived undetected for two-and-a-half days. His sleeping quarters consisted of a makeshift bed built behind boxes of baby strollers. He stole food from the store, stored supplies behind a wall of baby wipes and paper towels and used diapers to avoid detection when going to the bathroom. A crack in the wall provided backside access to the juice aisle. He even scored a pet fish to keep him company. The natural master of disguise changed clothes every few hours to throw off anyone who might be tailing him. Eventually, Walmart staff followed a trail of trash leading to the boy’s hideout and busted the runaway teen. Employees called police, who delivered the boy into the custody of relatives. No criminal charges have been filed. According to Corsicana police, the boy ran away from his aunt’s home. His mother, who was out of town, told police the boy has a history of running away. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Boy hero saves six from fire, dies

01:46
Eight-year-old Tyler Doohan is being hailed as a true hero by residents in Penfield, New York after the 4th grader lost his life in a fire while saving six people. Knowing that Monday was a national holiday, Tyler asked his mom if he could spend Sunday night at his grandfather's trailer home in Penfield, New York. Grandpa's home was a favorite place for Tyler, who enjoyed barbecuing and bonfires with his relatives, who lived there as well, as well as playing with the neighborhood kids. But at around 4:30 a.m., Tyler woke to find the trailer filling with smoke. He quickly woke up two of his cousins who were also staying over. Tyler also managed to wake up his grandmother, aunt and two other adults in the trailer before ushering them to safety. After rescuing the lives of six people, Tyler discovered that his grandfather and disabled uncle has not yet escaped. He bravely charged back into the burning trailer to rescue them, but he never returned. Firefighters later found three bodies in the trailer, and a spokesperson for the Penfield fire department said that without the boy's heroic actions, more lives would most certainly have been lost. The principal at the school Tyler attended said the boy's actions were not out of character as he was known for his kindness and "good heart." The boy lived with his mom in Rochester, New York, and residents there say Tyler Doohan is beyond question a hero and an example to the whole town. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but there is speculation that an electrical device in the front of the trailer may have caused the blaze. Questions are also being raised as to why so many people were living in the trailer, which was described as "beat up and old." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Yeonmi Park’s story: Escapee from North Korea speaks out

02:02
Meet Yeonmi Park. At 21 she looks like a typical university student enjoying the perks of living in Seoul, South Korea’s ultra-modern capital city. It’s hard to believe that she was actually born and grew up in a small port village in North Korea, along the river that defines the border between the North and it’s largest neighbor, China. Today Yeonmi is an outspoken activist, telling her family’s story about their harrowing escape from North Korea, ruled by one of the world’s most reclusive and repressive regimes. At a young age Yeonmi was indoctrinated with North Korean ideology, where Kim Jong-il and his family are treated as gods and any dissent is punished with prison and torture. The government tightly controls everything and limits citizens’ access to the outside world. When Yeonmi was just 13 years old she was invited to watch the execution of her best friend’s mother. The woman had been arrested for watching South Korean movies and sharing the DVDs with friends. She along with several others were executed by firing squad for their crime. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. South Korean ferry disaster: Hundreds still missing in Sewol sinking

02:33
Check out our official website: http://us.tomonews.net/ Check out our Android app: http://goo.gl/PtT6VD Check out our iOS app: http://bit.ly/1gO3z1f ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rescuers and families of those aboard the stricken South Korean car and passenger ferry that sank off the country's southwest coast on Wednesday haven't given up hope of finding more people alive among the hundreds unaccounted for. The Sewol ran into trouble during the 14-hour journey from Incheon to the southern resort island of Jeju early Wednesday morning. About four hours from its destination, the ship was sailing in thick fog, which may have obscured the crew's vision. At 8.30 a.m. it appears as though the ship it struck a large rock, puncturing its hull. Passengers described hearing a loud sound on impact and a experiencing sharp jolt. The ship tilted suddenly, causing luggage to fall from overhead storage shelves. Many people jumped into the frigid water as they realized the ferry was sinking. The crew sent out a distress signal and nearby ships responded. But survivors say a message broadcast over the ship's PA system telling people to stay in place may have worsened the situation. One passenger said that even as water inside the ship began to rise they were told not to move. Others were rescued by fishing boats and military ships with helicopters which raced to the scene. Once the Sewol began taking on water it took just two hours to fully capsize. In the panic and chaos, one highschooler identified only by her last name, Shin, texted her father: "Dad, don't worry. I've got a life jacket on and we're huddled together." Her father replied "I know the rescue has begun but make your way out if you can." Shin wrote back, "Dad I can't walk out, the corridor is full of kids and it's too tilted." Shin's name is not among the list of people rescued. Witnesses say many people might still be alive, trapped within the upturned ferry. But it lies in 30m deep water. The water is murky, reducing visibility to less than half a meter, hampering the rescue. What's more, people likely trapped in air pockets must deal with the icy water, which can cause hypothermia in as little as 90 minutes. Rescue teams earlier hammered on the ship's hull hoping for a response from trapped survivors, and divers have taken to the water ... but hope is fading. The Sewol has a capacity of 912 people. 475 passengers and crew were aboard, including 324 high schoolers on a field trip. When disaster struck, many of those people were gathered in the Sewol's entertainment center, on the third floor of the five-deck ship. When it capsized the third deck was fully submerged. It's believed a power outage soon after would have left many of them in darkness. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Panama canal expansion: how it works

01:24
The expansion of the Panama Canal will not be ready for its 100th anniversary on August 15 as initially hoped by canal authorities. Aimed now to be completed by June 2015, the project was proposed in 2006, began in 2007 and has cost so far US$ 6.5 billion, Newsweek reported. Connecting the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean, the canal currently uses locks in which water flows by gravity and raises ships 26 metres (85 feet) above sea level. Ships can then travel through artificial lakes and channels until they reach another set of locks leading to the sea on the other side. The expansion of the canal will feature new sets of locks that will allow the 81-km-long channel to accommodate even bigger vessels. The new locks will be larger but use less water than the existing ones. Basins next to them will recycle water from the locks as they are emptied, and use this water to partially refill the locks when another ship passes through. Water from the canal’s lakes will also be used to fill the new locks. The new locks will be able to handle ships that are longer, taller and wider. Per-ship cargo capacity will nearly triple, from the current roughly 4,500 standard-container limit to roughly 12,000 standard containers. These changes will make the Panama Canal more competitive with the alternative Suez Canal route, which can currently accommodate much larger ships The Panama began operating in in 1914. It cost about US$420 million and took 40 years to complete. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. ‘Shopping while black’: Racial profiling caught on tape, Rashid Polo viral Vine video

01:43
Rashid Polo, of Rochester, Minnesota, is an overnight internet celebrity whose recent Vine videos are shedding light on a sensitive topic … shopping while black. While shopping at a convenience store back in February, Polo noticed a pattern developing. No matter where he went in the store, a suspicious attendant always seemed to follow. As she busied herself with random tasks, she cast vilifying stares at Polo, who eventually had enough. He whipped out his cell phone and began recording. If you’re saying to yourself right now that racial shopping discrimination doesn’t exist, chances are, you’re a white person. Barney’s New York, to give just one example, has repeatedly been accused of mistreating black shoppers. In the case of 19-year-old Trayon Christian, undercover police officers arrested him when he walked out of Barneys with a $350 belt, despite having shown them proof of purchase. Even Oprah can’t avoid racial profiling. Last year, a Swiss clerk refused to show the media mogul a handbag, saying it would “cost to much.” Polo’s second “shopping while black” Vine video has garnered 14 million loops in a little over a week and attracted more than 15,000 followers so far. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Shigeharu Shimamura teams up with GE to grow lettuce indoors faster, cleaner and cheaper

01:59
A 2300 square meter former semiconductor plant has become the world's largest indoor vegetable farm, thanks to Shigeru Shimamura and special LED lights from General Electric. The farm produces 10,000 heads of lettuce per day all while using less than 1% of the water needed for a normal farm, and none of the weather or pest related risks that come with growing outdoors. Produce waste is also slashed from 50 to just 10% as well. Shimamura's indoor farming company, Mirai, has partnered with GE and is looking to set up similar operations in locations around the world, starting with Hong Kong and Russia. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Indian boy Ashik Gavai has 232 teeth removed in JJ Hospital, Mumbai

01:38
A 17-year-old Indian boy had 232 teeth surgically removed in Mumbai this week. The number of excess teeth, or odontoma, he had reportedly set a new world record. According to reports in Indian media, Ashik Gavai had been complaining about a severe toothache for 18 months. The toothache eventually led to a tumor-like swelling on his lower right jaw. The boy lives in a rural village in Buldhana district in the Amravati region with his family. His father feared that his tumor may have been cancerous, but as local dentists couldn’t give him a proper diagnosis, the worried parent brought Ashki to JJ Hospital in Mumbai. There, Ashik was diagnosed with complex composite odontoma. Composite odontomas are benign tooth-like tumors that have both the enamel and dentin — the two major layers of the tooth — but are arranged in an abnormal pattern. A team of dentists lead by the head of JJ Hospital’s dental unit, Sunanda Dhiware, performed a seven-hour operation on the teenager on July 22 and successfully removed 232 extra teeth from his mouth. Dhiware told the BBC that, "At first, we couldn't cut [the odontoma] out so we had to use the basic chisel and hammer to take it out.” She added: “Once we opened it, little pearl-like teeth started coming out, one-by-one.” The boy now has 28 teeth. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Home defense: Grandpa shoots three suspects, foils home invasion and attempted rape

01:27
Kenneth Byrd shot three home invaders on Monday night after they forced their way into his home and attempted to rape his 19-year-old granddaughter. Byrd was also struck by gunfire from the suspects in his home on Yedda Road in Lumberton, North Carolina. When the Byrd family answered a knock at the door around 10 p.m. three men in ski masks forced their way in. The criminals held the grandparents at gunpoint and directed them to open a safe. The thugs also attempted to rape the Byrd’s 19-year-old granddaughter but gramps wasn’t having that. Byrd managed to grab a handgun of his own and put holes in all three intruders. The suspects returned fire, striking the grandfather multiple times before fleeing in Byrd’s gold Cadillac. One of the suspects died from grandpa’s gunshots. The wounded criminals then abandoned their partner on their way to McLeod Hospital in Dillon where they were treated for their injuries. If Brandon Stephens, 28, and Jamar Hawkins, 17, survive, they face a string of felony charges possibly including capital murder for the death of 20-year-old Jamie Faison. Sherri Bridgeman, a friend of the Byrd family wrote on her Facebook page that grandfather Kenneth was listed in critical condition. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Delta gun smuggling ring busted: Airline employee bought loaded firearms on dozens of Delta flights

01:58
An historic security breach has been uncovered at one of the busiest airports in the United States. Investigators in New York broke up the elaborate gun smuggling ring that landed more than 150 illegal guns on Brooklyn the streets. Eugene Harvey, 31, a Delta Airline baggage handler in at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta was arrested and charged with trafficking firearms, violating airport security and aiding others in the scheme. For eight months, Harvey snuck guns past security passing them off to Mark Henry, 38, a former Delta employee who was fired in 2010. Henry would go through security as usual, flying on a buddy pass, a benefit from his mother, a retired Delta employee. The men would meet in the restroom and other places in the airport to make the swap. In total, 153 guns were recovered as part of the investigation from nearly 20 flights from Atlanta to New York, the Brooklyn District Attorneys Office said Tuesday. Police caught on to their scheme after one of their accomplices, Earnest Lanauex, 48, of Brooklyn sold one of the guns to an undercover officer. Henry was arrested in New York on December 10 after landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport with 18 handguns in his bag -- seven of which were loaded, the affidavit said. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Video of Vietnamese tourist on his knees begging for refund from Singapore scammers goes viral

01:27
A Vietnamese tourist who tried to buy a phone for his girlfriend while visiting Singapore as a tourist got trapped in a scam run by an unscrupulous cell phone shop owner that has tarnished Singapore’s “clean” reputation. The scam works like this: The customer, usually a tourist, buys a phone for a reasonable price. Then the shop has the customer sign an “agreement,” usually in English. Finally, after the victim’s credit card has been swiped, the victim notices there’s an extra S$1,500 charge, which is explained as the cost of the “warranty.” When the customer complains, the shop owner goes gangster and threatens him or her by saying “You signed this. You are on camera as having signed it. No refunds, lah!” Pham Van Thoai, a Vietnamese tourist who had this scam pulled on him, is a factory worker who said he makes just US$200 a month. Pham, 28, became so distraught he broke down in tears and actually got down on his knees and begged the shop to refund his purchase. The owner mocked him in a scene caught on video. The sad video of the tourist begging went viral, prompting Singaporeans to raise funds to cover the man’s losses. What’s more, the name and address of the unscrupulous salesman — a Mr. Jover Chow who lives on Henderson Road — was posted on the web alongside some less-than-flattering pics of the scammer. The Singapore Straits Times reported that, as of 9 a.m. on Thursday, Singaporeans had raised S$12,938 (US$10,000) for Pham, and that Pham has refused to accept the money. “I lost US$550. Hero mom dies after running into burning home to save her daughter

01:35
Mary Barkes of Arlington, Virginia, is a hero. Mary managed to get out of her house after a fast-moving fire broke out in the early morning hours of Tuesday. Searching for the rest of her family, she saw her husband Bill and their 11-year-old daughter, Sarah, climbing out of a second floor window via a ladder. But the ladder slipped, and Bill and Sarah tumbled to the ground. Bill and Sarah were injured, but alive. Mary, however, quickly realized that her 7-year-old, Emily, was still inside the burning house. Rescue services were on their way, but Mary had to get her little girl. She ran straight into the raging inferno of heat and flames. Mary and Emily perished together. Some 70 firefighters did their best, but the intensity of the fire made any rescue attempt impossible. Area residents immediately set up a fundraising page for the surviving members of the Barkes’ family, and close to US$60,000 has been donated so far. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Teen girl stabs mother over Slenderman obsession in Hamilton, Ohio

01:20
Slenderman stabbing: http://bit.ly/1mAWgwZ Slenderman meme explained: http://bit.ly/1pzmOCK ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ For the second time in a little over a week, Slenderman is being blamed for inspiring an attempted murder after a woman was attacked by her 13-year-old daughter in Hamilton, Ohio. The victim knew her daughter had mental health problems but never imagined her own child would attempt to harm her. She said her daughter's writing had been getting darker and darker, and contained references to the fictional character, Slenderman. "I came home one night from work and she was in the kitchen waiting for me and she was wearing a mask — a white mask," she said. "She had her hood up and had her hands covered with her sleeves and the mask." The 13-year-old injured her mother's face, neck, and back in the stabbing. "She was someone else during that attack," said the mother. Authorities say the teenager, who is currently in a juvenile detention center, says she does not recall what happened the night she stabbed her mother. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Patty Kearney and her husband, Donald, were watching television when they heard a crash come from the back of their home in Marion, Indiana, home last Monday night. Suddenly, they saw a man wearing a green sweatshirt, a hockey mask, and carrying a large wrench and duct tape entered the room. The intruder confronted the married couple and demanded any guns they might have in the home. Kearney, despite suffering from lung cancer and a pulmonary condition that has her tethered to an oxygen tank, she quickly realized the robber was not carrying a firearm and fought back with her wooden back scratcher. "I looked at him and said, 'Do you have a gun?' And he said no, and I don't know what happened. I snapped," she told WTVR TV. "I don't think he expected an overweight woman on oxygen to attack him. I really don't." Kearney kept hitting the burglar with the back scratcher until he dropped the wrench. Then she picked the wrench up and continued hitting the intruder until he began bleeding and fled through the back door. "I said not in my house, not in my house," she told Fox59.com. "I just hit him in the head, hit him in the head, hit him until he got right there, and I hit him once more and he ran out the door." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. California state Senator Leland Yee: Part-time politician, full-time arms dealer

01:50
California state Senator Leland Yee, a staunch advocate of gun control, was arrested on Wednesday by the FBI for illegally trafficking firearms and multiple counts of public corruption. Yee supposedly asked for campaign donations in exchange for introducing an undercover FBI agent to an arms trafficker and told him how to obtain shoulder-fired automatic weapons and missiles from a Muslim separatist group in the Philippines, according to court documents opened Wednesday. The charges against Yee were outlined in an FBI affidavit that accused Yee of conspiracy to deal firearms without a license and to illegally import firearms. He was arrested Wednesday and showed up later in federal court, where bail was set at $500,000. Yee is also accused of taking tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions and accepting cash to provide introductions, help a client get a contract and influence legislation. He or members of his campaign team accepted at least $42,800 in cash or campaign contributions from undercover FBI agents in exchange for taking care of the agents' specific requests. Senator Yee told an undercover agent he could get him $500,000 to $2.5 million in automatic weapons and missiles from the Philippines. Yee also took the undercover agent through the entire process of getting the arms from a Muslim Separatist group in the Philippines to bringing them to the United States, according to the affidavit by FBI Special Agent Emmanuel V. Pascua. Leland was also kind enough to accept cash from another undercover agent to set up a meeting, while in another instance, he took cash from the feds in exchange for a Senate proclamation. Senator Yee was arrested on Wednesday with 25 other people including Raymond 'Shrimp Boy' Chow. Looks like it's going to be Chinese on the prison menu. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Crying dog breaks the internet’s heart — but this sad dog story has a happy ending" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4prKTN9bYQc -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

School hero Yaovi Mawuli gives Nike Concord Air Jordan 11 lows to bullied classmate

01:12
A North Carolina high school student helped a bullied classmate by giving him a pair of new shoes. Yaovi Mawuli noticed a student was making fun of Jared Newby, who was wearing a pair of worn out sneakers during French class, according to a report by local Fox affiliate WGHP. Yaovi has an extensive shoe collection because he trades shoes online. He decided to give Jared a pair of “Concord” Air Jordan 11 lows that he had in his size. However, Yaovi worried that giving Jared the shoes directly would hurt his feelings, so he sought help online. A school counselor gave Jared the shoes from Yaovi in her office on the next day. Jared threw the old shoes immediately after he got the new shoes. “It felt like I was standing on air,” Jared told WGHP. Jared took a picture with Yaovi in his brand new Air Jordans that has been making the rounds in social media. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. The completed gun will be comparable in size to today's Howitzer based cannons. It is believed that the U.S. Navy will mount the new weapon aboard Zumwalt class stealth battleships that are currently in production. The new gun will fire a projectile at a target that can be up to 400km away, and reach it in under 6 minutes. Since the projectile will use no explosives, and rely on sheer speed and kinetic force, it will be very precise in obliterating targets, leaving very little collateral damage in its wake. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Drunk Chinese burglar claims to be Superman and a 10-year-old girl makes him prove it

01:26
Tang Lei, a man from China’s JiangSu Province may need to consider joining AA or perhaps MA (Morons Anonymous). After getting nice and sloshed over the weekend, this genius decided to do a little late night burglarizing. The drunken Mr. Tang climbed into a 5th floor window from a nearby balcony, and was surprised to find himself in the bedroom of a 10-year-old girl. The room’s brave young occupant challenged Tang, who tried to talk his way out of the situation by claiming he was Superman on a special secret mission. But this 10-year-old has about 200 more IQ points than Tang does and she argued that as everyone knows Superman can fly, the only way she would believe him was if he could fly, too. So Mr. Tang — who is not in fact Superman — ripped off his pants, in order to look more like a superhero, he said, then jumped out the window and ‘flew’ onto the balcony below. He missed and slammed into another balcony some two stories below. Mr. Tang is in police custody and is recovering from severe cuts and bruises. Ten bucks says the little girl discovers the cure for cancer some day. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Police tase deaf man for trying to communicate using sign language

01:16
Jonathan Meister, a hearing-impaired man from Hawthorne, California is suing four officers from the Hawthorne police department after they allegedly tasered him several times when he tried to communicate with them using sign language on February 13, 2013. The incident happened on 6:30 p.m. when Meister was retrieving boxes he had left at a friend's house, when a neighbor mistook him for a burglar and called police. Police arrived and called out to Meister, but he didn't hear them because he was hearing-impaired. According to The Raw Story, one of the officers grabbed Meister by his hand. Meister then tried to communicate with the officers with American Sign Language. That was a bad idea, because the officers interpreted his sudden movement as resisting arrest. They started hitting him and kicking his stomach. He struggled while police were trying to handcuff him, so one officer tasered him. He fell to the ground and was tasered three more times, including one final "drive stun" to his abdomen. Police continued to beat him until he was unconscious. They finally flipped him on his stomach and handcuffed him. He was later sent to the hospital and charged with assaulting the officers. The charge was later dropped. Meister has now filed a lawsuit against the Hawthorne police department through the Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness. They are suing the police department for violating his civil rights under Americans with Disabilities Act. According to the lawsuit, the incident happened "in substantial part because the HPD does not provide its officers the training and resources to serve people who are deaf or hard of hearing." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Boy dies after 'friend' throws him off rooftop

01:41
A 12 year-old Taiwanese boy has died after his 'friend' threw him off a 13-storey rooftop. According to police, at around 5 p.m., Hsu went to an Internet cafe to meet with a group of his friends, including a 23-year-old man surnamed Chiang (江), and a 21-year-old man with the family name of Wang (王). Altogether, the six friends then went to the rooftop of one of the boys' apartment building to hang out. Hsu reportedly got into a fierce argument with his two older friends. Chiang then allegedly covered the boy's head with a jacket and started beating the child's head. As the violence escalated, the three other friends left the scene. Wang, however, reportedly hit Hsu with a brick before running away. Chiang, who is significantly larger than the 12 year-old, finally lifted and threw the boy off the roof of the building. Hsu died at the scene. The boy's older sister said yesterday she was heartbroken, adding she couldn't believe someone could do this to a child. The building's security guard said he heard something heavy fall, but only later discovered it was a person. The security guard told police that the boy's "friends" looked pale and nervous as they exited the building. After their arrest, Chiang defended himself saying Hsu had constantly verbally bullied them, which he said, led to his violent actions. Chiang and Wang have been charged with murder and assault respectively. Their sentences, however, could be reduced, as they have been previously diagnosed with mental disabilities. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Scientific Breakthrough! Danish scientists develop substance that stores and releases oxygen

01:15
It might sound like something out a sci-fi film, but the day could soon arrive when oxygen can be obtained by just a few grains of a newly developed material. Scientists in Denmark announced they have developed a substance that absorbs, stores and releases huge amounts of oxygen. The substance is so effective that just a few grains are capable of storing enough oxygen for a single human breath while a bucket full of the new material could capture an entire room of O2. With the new material there are hopes those requiring medical oxygen might soon be freed from carrying bulky tanks, while SCUBA divers might also be able to use the material to absorb oxygen from water, allowing them to stay submerged for significantly longer. The substance was developed by tinkering with the molecular structure of cobalt, a chemical element that when found in meteoric iron, resembles a silver-gray metal. Scientists are hailing the breakthrough, but it could be many years before viable commercial uses of the new substance become available. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Cop fatally shoots street vendor who goes for his pepper spray in Sao Paulo, Brazil

01:23
A man was shot dead police in Sao Paulo, Brazil, after attempting to seize a police officer’s pepper spray following the arrest of a local counterfeit seller. A young vendor of black market DVDs, t-shirts and other items in central Sao Paulo, Brazil was approached by police conducting inspections on September 18, according to the uploader of a video which has surfaced on LiveLeak. Police moved to arrest the man for his illegal stall, but he put up a fight and things spiraled out of control. Other local merchants come to the man’s defence. But one of them, a man dressed in blue jeans and check shirt identified in the LiveLeak video as Carlos Augusto Luis got too close. Police soon found themselves in an increasingly hostile situation. One officer armed himself with pepper-spray to keep the encroaching men away. That’s when Augusto Luis made a fatal mistake and attempted for the distracted officer’s spray canister. The cop, reacting to what he probably interpreted as someone going for his gun fires off a shot. Luis stumbled several meters to the road. One of the many videos taken that day shows the deadly moment from another angle. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. First artificial heart implant offers new hope to patients with heart diseases

01:40
Originally published on December 30, 2013 An artificial heart created by French biomedical firm Carmat that is designed last to up to five years was implanted for the first time on December 18 in a 75-year-old patient who, according to doctors, is progressing well. Until now, the longest a patient has lived with an artificial heart is just under four years. The new heart developed by Carmat is designed to replace a patient's real heart, or at least provide a longer bridge of time while the patient waits for a heart transplant. The Carmat artificial heart's shape and size are similar to those of a natural heart. It has two ventricles and four valves that can reproduce the pulsatile flow of blood circulation and accelerate and reduce cardiac rhythm in according to the level of effort being exerted by the patient. It is made from chemically treated animal tissue to lessen the risk of blood clots and rejection by the immune system. To power the heart Carmat uses two external lithium-ion batteries connected to electric wires behind the left ear and linked to the heart through under-the-skin wires. The system is portable, allowing the patient to return home by carrying it on a trolley or on his shoulders. Nearly 100,000 people in Europe and the U.S. are in need of a heart transplant, according to Carmat. Men are more likely to be implanted with Carmat's artificial heart, as heart failure affects more men than women, and the device is sized such that it can fit in 86 percent of men but only roughly 20 percent of women, according to a Reuters report. A U.S. rival to Carmat, an artificial heart called AbioCor, is authorised in the U.S. for patients with end-stage heart failure or who have a life expectancy of less than 30 days, are not eligible for a natural heart plant and have no other viable treatment options. -------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. $10 million in rare gold coins found in California

01:14
Originally published on February 26, 2014 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A batch of rare 19th century gold coins unearthed by a California couple last year is about to go on sale. The couple, from Northern California, was out walking their dog on their property when they noticed something sticking out of the ground under a tree, according to SF Gate. Stopping to investigate, the couple found it was the top of an old cannister. They used a stick to dig up the can and brought it home, where they discovered it was filled with gold coins. The couple returned the site to continue digging, and found eight cannisters in total, all containing mint-condition gold coins from the 19th century. The 1,427 coins found inside the cans dated from 1847 to 1894, according to David Hall, co-founder of Professional Coin Grading Service of Santa Ana, which authenticated the coins. The coins were organized in chronological order, filling one can before being added to the next, and the next can after that. The coins are in $5, $10 and $20 denominations, and added up amounts to about $27,000. However, some of the coins are so rare today experts say they could be worth nearly $1 million each. Altogether the coins are estimated to be worth at least $10 million. Bouncer disarms gunman video: Wasson receives medal

01:10
Bouncer Eric Wasson disarmed an armed man attempting to enter Johnny Baby's bar on University Avenue in St. Paul last year on September 21. Wasson was honored for his courageous act by the St. Paul police. On the night of September 21, a man holding a gun came to the door of the bar where Wasson was working as a security guard. Wasson said he tried to defuse the situation by smiling at the gunman and saying, "Hey, what's going on?" Wasson also told the man to calm down. According to Wasson, that's when the man told him to move and raised his gun. At the time, more than 150 people were inside the bar. Wasson rushed the gunman, whose gun was discharged twice as they struggled. No one was hit. St. Paul Police Chief Thomas Smith presented Wasson the Chief's Award for Valor, the highest award Smith can give a citizen, on Wednesday. "Mr. Wasson, you were indeed a hero that evening," Smith said about the Sept. 21 incident. Authorities said the gunman was convicted in federal court. "We don't know what the suspect may have done if he was allowed inside the bar. ... You displayed a great amount of courage when you chose to disarm the suspect and protect the customers in the bar." Smith said at the award ceremony. Wasson's children were also in attendance at the award ceremony. His children are ages 4 and 9. Smith told them at the ceremony: "Be very proud of your daddy." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Robbery fail: Armed man makes hilarious attempted convenience store hold up in Bendigo, Australia

01:05
Calling bullsh*t on someone who has a gun pointed at your head isn't normally the best move. But that's what one ballsy Australian shop clerk did when a masked man strode into his store and demanded money. This crook's plan to rob a convenience store in the small town of Bendigo in Australia didn't quite go to plan. The store's security camera captured it all: It began looking good for the masked idiot; he walked to an empty store. But moments later night shift clerk Steve Ewart returned back to his post, looking cool as ice after just six weeks on the job. The robber demands he hand over the cash. Unlucky for him, Ewart is a gun enthusiast and instantly recognised the man's weapon. It's a cap gun replica of a design from the 1960s — completely harmless. Ewart tells the masked man "It's not gonna happen", and whatever was said, it clearly didn't take much. Realizing that the jig is up, the intruder is at a loss as to his next move. And Ewart instantly becomes an internet hero. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Crying dog breaks the internet’s heart — but this sad dog story has a happy ending" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4prKTN9bYQc -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Greek Airline crash: uncontrolled decompression doomed 'ghost plane' Helios Airways Flight 522

01:23
Helios Airways flight 522 crashed on August 14, 2005 after a lack of oxygen incapacitated the aircraft's crew members and led to the plane eventually running out of fuel. The plane reportedly arrived in Cyprus with a possible pressure problem. Helios technicians did a pressure check but failed to reset the pressurization system from manual back to auto after the test was completed. When the plane was put back into service, flight crew managed to overlook the error during the pre-flight procedure, the after-start check, and the after take-off check. The aircraft departed Larnaca International Airport at 9:07 a.m., heading to Prague with a stopover in Athens. As the aircraft continued to climb, the air pressure slowly dropped and cabin altitude warning horn sounded. Due to hypoxia, the judgement of the plane's pilots was impaired and they misunderstood the true nature of the warning signal. Ground controllers lost contact with the plane at 9:20 a.m. At the same time, oxygen masks were deployed inside the cabin as air pressure reached dangerous levels." Two Hellenic Air Force F-16 fighter jets were deployed to establish contact when the aircraft failed to answer calls from Athens ATC. The jets observed that the pilot was nowhere to be seen and the first officer was seen slumped forward in his seat, unconscious, while the oxygen masks were seemingly unused. At 11:49 a.m., flight attendant Andreas Prodromou, who was able to remain conscious using a portable oxygen tank, tried to land the plane but was too late when the engines flamed out due to fuel exhaustion. At 12:04 pm, the aircraft crash landed into hills near Grammatiko, a village in East Attica, Greece. There were no survivors. It was the deadliest aviation disaster in Greek history with 121 fatalities and is the fourth-deadliest involving a Boeing 737-300. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Crying dog breaks the internet’s heart — but this sad dog story has a happy ending" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4prKTN9bYQc -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

You see, phone addict Johnson had been acting up, so, to punish her, 51-year-old grandma Gaylon Moody confiscated her celly. This didn't go down at all; Johnson lost it and plotted her revenge. It was the Easter weekend and Grandma Moody was cooking up a pot of healthy collard greens. Johnson had other plans - she dumped poisons and insecticides into the mix. Wrong place wrong time: Tape measure falls 50 floors, kills worker at New Jersey construction site

01:22
With skyscrapers all around us, it’s a wonder death by falling object isn’t all that common. But sadly, accidents do happen. On Monday at a site in New Jersey, a tape measure somehow came off a construction worker’s tool belt and fell 50 stories down. The tape measure weighed just a pound, or about 450 grams, but it was heavy enough to kill Gary Anderson, a worker in his 50s who was delivering supplies to the site. Anderson had been speaking to someone in a truck. When he leaned out of the vehicle, the tape measure hit him square on the head, knocking him out. He later died at hospital of cardiac arrest. The company constructing the tower in New Jersey said hard hats are required at the site, but Anderson may not have had time to don one. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Fight over Knee Defender anti-reclining seat lock grounds United flight in Chicago

01:28
Here’s a quiz: Who gets preference, the passenger who wants to recline or the passenger who wants to use his laptop? Answer: Neither, get off my plane! A United Airlines flight from Newark to Denver was diverted after two passengers got in a fight over reclining seats. A man in the middle of the 12th row on United Flight 1462 used this device, called the Knee Defender, to prevent the woman in front of him from reclining. The man wanted to use his laptop, which would have been difficult if the woman reclined. But with Knee Defender, you just lower your tray table, then place the tiny plastic chocks on the arms. Now you can use your laptop in peace and even recline while you do so, if you wish. A flight attendant asked the man to remove the device, but he refused. They couldn’t decide who was more entitled, him to use his laptop? Or her to recline her seat? Especially since both had paid for Economy Plus seating, meaning they already had 4 more inches of legroom than the other sardines packed into coach. The flight was diverted to Chicago after the woman threw a cup of water in the man’s face. Then they were both kicked off the flight and the plane continued to Denver without them. The FAA has not banned the Knee Defender because it doesn’t pose a specific safety risk, but it might change its tune after one angry passenger makes the flyer one row back swallow them whole. What’s your take? Who was in the right? -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Crying dog breaks the internet’s heart — but this sad dog story has a happy ending" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4prKTN9bYQc -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Medal of Honor awarded to two Vietnam War vets for ‘extraordinary bravery’

02:08
It may have come late, but at least the day arrived. On September 15th, almost 50 years after the early days of the Vietnam conflict, U.S. President Barack Obama awarded the Medal of Honor to Sergeant Bennie Adkins and posthumously to Specialist Donald Sloat. In 1966, U.S. Green Berets, which included Sgt. Bennie G. Adkins, were engaged in heavy combat with North Vietnamese troops along the Ho Chi Minh trail. Adkins and his squad became pinned down on a hilltop in central Vietnam in March of that year and over a four-day period, Adkins and the Green Berets fought fiercely to defend their position against vastly superior enemy numbers. As the battle raged, Adkins repeatedly ran through enemy fire to help resupply U.S. troops and was credited with dragging wounded U.S. troops to safety as well as other acts of bravery that included saving a rescue helicopter after an enemy soldier attacked. Adkins stepped in front of the helicopter, blocking the enemy and protecting the wounded. The Army said Adkins, in addition to saving many of his comrades’ lives, was responsible for killing some 175 enemy troops over the four-day-battle. On the final night of the battle, a wounded and exhausted Atkins and his men awaited rescue while continuing to defend their position, when, from the darkness of the jungle, the growls of a tiger were heard and the enemy retreated. Adkins and the U.S. troops, toughed it out and were rescued in the morning. U.S. Army Specialist Donald Sloat was the same day, posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for jumping on a grenade in early 1970. After being tripped by a fellow soldier on patrol, a booby-trap grenade rolled toward his feet and Sloat quickly decided the only way to save his fellow soldiers was by throwing his own body on to it. His death saved the lives of three of his comrades. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. US Ebola: patient told hospital he was from Africa, they sent him home with antibiotics

01:29
The Liberian man who was diagnosed with the Ebola virus in Dallas, Texas has been identified as a 42-year-old Monrovian resident named Thomas Eric Duncan, Liberian government officials said Wednesday. Duncan reportedly had directly contact with a pregnant woman who was overcome by the virus in Sept. 15, four days before he flew from Liberia to the United States, according to the woman’s parents and Duncan’s neighbors. Duncan had gone with the family of the woman, Marthalene Williams, 19, in a taxi to a hospital on Sept. 15 after they failed to get an ambulance, the woman’s parents said, according to reporting by the New York Times. The Times said the woman’s parents said she was seven months pregnant and convulsing. After they were turned away from the hospital for lack of space, the family said Duncan helped them take her back home at around 3 a.m., with neighbors witnessing him help the woman’s father and brother carry her. The woman’s 21-year-old brother, Sonny Boy, also became sick around the same time that Duncan began showing symptoms, said the Times. Sonny Boy has since died from the disease. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Olympic gold medal swimmer Michael Phelps arrested again for drunk driving in Baltimore, Maryland

01:25
Olympic champion swimmer Michael Phelps was busted for driving under the influence for a second time early Tuesday morning. The 29-year-old was seen crossing double lane lines in Baltimore and was followed by police through the Fort McHenry Tunnel on I-395 at about 1:40 a.m. According to a police statement, Phelps’ SUV was at one point doing 84 miles per hour in a 45 mile-per-hour zone. He was pulled over after he passed a toll plaza near the tunnel. Phelps failed field sobriety tests and his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit. Tuesday’s scenario was similar to an incident in 2004 when Phelps was busted for drunk driving after running a red light near Salisbury University. He pleaded guilty to the DUI charge and agreed to serve 18 months of probation and give speeches at schools about his mistakes. Phelps apparently didn’t learn his lesson. In 2009 a photo of him smoking a bong at a college party appeared on the front page of a British tabloid. Phelps has tweeted series of apologies about his latest charge with DUI incident. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Car hits deer: Woman knocked out by deer through windshield, saved by passenger

01:27
A 19-year-old Pennsylvania woman is lucky to be alive after she was knocked out cold by a deer that flew through her windshield while driving. Heidi Shank was driving north with passenger Ryan Snyder on Warm Spring Road Saturday night around 6:51 p.m. when a deer jumped across the road and struck Shank’s 2013 Chrysler Sebring. The deer went right through the windshield, struck Shank in the face and landed on her lap, authorities said. The blow knocked her out, and Snyder pulled up the emergency brake and then grabbed the steering wheel to get control of the moving vehicle. With Shank’s foot still on the accelerator, Snyder veered the car across the oncoming lane of traffic and through a soybean field. The car then hit an embankment as it entered a Sunnyway parking lot. Snyder was able to steer the car around the gas station before finally striking a safety post. Shank was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Mars rover shows evidence of a lake on the Red Planet, which could have held microbial life

01:10
The Curiosity rover has captured photos that suggest Mount Sharp on Mars was created by sediments being deposited in a large lake bed over tens of millions of years, NASA says. NASA scientists say photos of what look like evidence of water currents and sediments add to the theory that Mars maintained a climate that could have produced long-lasting lakes. Such lakes could have also supported microbial life for millions of years. The Curiosity rover has been observing the lowest sedimentary layers at Mount Sharp, which is a section of rock that stands 500 feet high inside the 96-mile-wide Gale Crater. Scientists have long tried to determine how Mount Sharp was created. The rock layers within Mount Sharp alternate between lake, river and wind deposits, which suggest there was a lake around it that continued filling and evaporating for a long period of time. NASA has already previously theorized that Mars held water. In 2012, the space agency said photos send back from the Curiosity rover showed gravel-like rocks that looked like they had been smoothed by water and pushed into the shape of an alluvial fan. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Seattle home invasion: This burglar found out the hard way you don’t break into a vet’s house

01:11
A Seattle burglar got quite a surprise when the homeowner of the house he was trying to break into a second time came out and began throwing punches, Komo News reported. According to Andrew Myers, a veteran of the 82nd Airborne, a burglar broke into his Seattle home earlier this week, and figuring he would be back, Myers installed an improved surveillance system. On Saturday night, the man returned and was trying to enter the front door when Myers stopped him, saying that he wasn’t going anywhere and that the man would just have to stick around until the police arrived. The suspect threw a punch, which Myers dodged, and the two engaged in a fight on the front lawn that was caught on camera. Seattle police said there were officers passing by the home in the 9200 block of Wallingford Ave. N. when they saw the fight. The officers were apparently on their way to another call when they saw the two fighting. The 34-year-old suspect was taken into custody and booked him into the King County Jail for investigation of burglary. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Rosetta mission: Philae lander reaches comet 67P but its battery may die soon

01:07
After landing on comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko three times, the Rosetta spacecraft probe, Philae, is now resting in the shade of a creator wall, which is blocking it’s ability to receive solar energy. The Philae lander arrived on comet 67P on Wednesday but as its harpoons failed to deploy it was sent about 1 kilometer back into the space, the BBC reported. After floating for two hours, Philae made contact again then bounced off its surface once more. This smaller bounce lasted seven minutes, according to Science News. The lander is now resting near a crater lip, one kilometer away from its supposed landing site, standing on only two unanchored legs. The ESA was hoping the machine could pick up between six and seven hours of sunlight each day but, given its location, it will probably receive just 90 minutes. The lack of light means Philae’s battery will probably die soon, making it likely the lander will be stop operating after Saturday. Philae got to 67P after being carried by ESA's Rosetta spacecraft for 10-year. Rosetta was launched by the European Space Agency on March 2, 2004 on board an Ariane 5 rocket from Kourou, in French Guiana. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Armed robbery fail caught on tape: Gas station clerk with concealed pistol sends gunman running

01:21
A would-be robber was sent running out of a Michigan gas station like a bat out of hell early on Monday after a heat-packing gas station clerk pulled out a handgun and brought forth a hail of bullets, according to a report by MLive.com. Footage released by police shows a revolver-toting man entering the Norton Shores gas station's front door just after 6 a.m. wearing dark clothing and a ski mask. The suspect next cleaned out the register before forcing the gas station's 24-year-old clerk into a back room and reportedly demanding cigarettes be loaded into his backpack. The unidentified clerk, reportedly fearing for his life, next pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and fired about 10 rounds at the suspect who fled the scene. The robber managed to escape with his life, some cigarettes and some money after he made it to a getaway vehicle, described by police as a black Chevy Malibu. Police have released the footage in an effort to catch the masked suspect. Anyone with information about the incident has been asked to contact the Norton Shores Police Department. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Concealed carry defense: teen Jawaad Jabar killed stealing Air Jordan sneakers in Dayton, Ohio

01:21
16 year old Jawaad Jabbar is described as a “nice guy” and “dedicated student athlete” But the Middletown, Ohio teen seemed to go against these superlatives when he tried to rob a man for his freshly bought pair of Air Jordans in Dayton. Jabbar and his buddies trekked north to Dayton Mall to buy a pair of Air Jordans but arrived too late to purchase them. At some point the goal shifted from buying the new sneakers to just taking them from someone. The teens approached a man and his friend outside in the parking area. Jabbar pulled a handgun on the men, likely expecting complete compliance. Unfortunately for him, that man was licensed to carry a concealed weapon. Jabbar was fatally shot. Police and paramedics responded within minutes to the scene. In a later press conference, Sgt. Phares called this “a random act of ‘I want something that person has and I’m going to take it from them by any means’.” Even so, the town of Middletown is mourning the loss of a teen who seemed to be an otherwise good kid. No charges have been filed against the shooter, who remains anonymous. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. 3D printed battery: new smart inks to produce lithium-ion microbatteries

01:21
Originally published on January 03, 2014 A new kind of "smart ink" developed by Harvard scientist Jennifer Lewis, head of the university's Lewis Lab, could enable traditional 3D printers to print tiny battery electrodes the size less than a human hair. To make the ink, nanoparticles of lithium titanium oxide are added to a vial of deionized water and ethylene glycol. Ceramic balls are used as agitators to break down the particles. The mixture is spun for 24 hours, after which the balls and larger particles are removed using filters and a centrifuge. The resulting ink is placed in a syringe, which is then inserted into a high-pressure dispenser housed in a traditional 3D printer. The custom-made syringe's nozzle tips, as small as one micrometer wide at the opening, allow precise patterning. The ink is solid under normal conditions, but liquefies under high pressure, so it returns to solid form once it leaves the syringe. The ink is used to print the battery's anode and cathode layer by layer following digital instructions. Finally, a case filled with electrolyte solutions encloses the electrodes to create a working lithium-ion microbatteries. Using this technology, microbatteries could be in between other components to help reduce the size of the gadgets. The microbatteries could supply electricity to tiny devices in fields from medicine to communications, including many that currently only exist in labs because batteries currently available on the market are either not small enough or lack sufficient energy to power them. -------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Chinese student jumps out of window, commits suicide because of exam stress

01:08
A distressing video posted to LiveLeak this week appears to show the final moments of a troubled teen in China who apparently jumped to his death from a classroom window. The footage was captured on the classroom's CCTV camera and show's the schoolboy sitting motionless as the class around him buzzes with activity before an impending lesson. The video's description gives the student's name as Xiao Zhen — and whatever was going through his mind must have been too much to bear. Half-way into the one-minute clip, and without warning, Xiao stands and heads straight for the nearest window. Though the video doesn't show him, one can infer what happens next from the reactions of horror from his classmates who race to see if he really just did the unthinkable. Several students are seen running for the door. China's pressure-cooker society, in which parents and teachers make huge demands of children, and in which poor exam results can stunt a young person's entire future, has helped elevate suicide to the number one cause of death among the country's youth. Rest in peace, kid. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Crying dog breaks the internet’s heart — but this sad dog story has a happy ending" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4prKTN9bYQc -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Gangster Emilio Solis leads Officer Andrea Gibson on a high-speed chase, dies in gunfight

01:38
Watch the full video: http://bit.ly/13kBlLZ This newly released dashcam video comes to us from the usually sleepy suburban town of Hedwig Village, Texas, just outside of Houston. This was their first deadly officer-involved shooting in nearly 20 years. The suspect being chased is 36-year-old Emilio Solis, who amongst other things, was in the US illegally. || Watch more crazy police car chases videos here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5_Zg40DC3OEoe-60fHIcvR5jV_4Lns2C He was known to have been selling drugs in and around LA for a few years and had an outstanding warrant for that along with several more on aggravated assault. Perhaps that’s why he decided to pack up and head east to the Houston area. Now at one point in the chase, Solis lets a passenger out of the car. Later identified as Edwin Benitez, he was rounded up when he and Solis’ girlfriend tried to recover the car from the police impound lot. Eventually the chase came to a close in a hail of gunfire. Solis bolts from the car, shooting at the officer. However Officer Andrea Gibson’s shots were more accurate, dropping the perp to the ground. Solis later died enroute to the hospital. Gibson, a 3½ year veteran of the Hedwig Village force, suffered no injuries, but came close when a bullet ripped through a pant leg near his ankle. The part-time pastor has yet to comment on the incident. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Botched Oklahoma execution: Clayton Lockett tasered before bungled lethal injection

Check out our official website: http://us.tomonews.net/ Check out our Android app: http://goo.gl/PtT6VD Check out our iOS app: http://bit.ly/1gO3z1f ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A newly released timeline of the hours leading up to the execution of Clayton Lockett in Oklahoma on Tuesday revealed that the 38-year-old convicted murderer was tasered kept under watch after guards discovered a self-inflicted wound to his arm. On May 1, the day of the botched lethal injection, Oklahoma prison guards arrived at Lockett's cell at 5:06 a.m. to escort him for X-rays in preparation for his execution. The inmate, refusing orders to be restrained, was ordered to be tasered at 5:50 a.m. The guards quickly discovered a self-inflicted cut on his right arm and transported him to the medical facility at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary, where Lockett was kept in a cell and watched by three guards until about 5:20 p.m. During that period, he refused food and final visits from his attorneys. By 5:22 p.m. Lockett was placed and restrained on the execution table, where a phlebotomist spent nearly 50 minutes trying to locate an injectable vein in his arms, legs, feet and neck. The IV was finally inserted in the groin at 6:18 p.m., and the sedative Midazolam was administered five minutes later. After the doctor declared Lockett unconscious at 6:33 p.m., the viewing room's curtains were lowered while the second and third drugs in the cocktail were administered. At 6:44 p.m. the doctor found that Lockett's injected vein had collapsed, causing the drugs to have either leaked or become absorbed into tissue. The corrections department director called off the execution at 6:56 p.m. after finding out that not enough drugs remained to kill Lockett, who still retained a weak heartbeat. Lockett's attorney Dean Sanderford witnessed the execution, saying that Lockett became visibly drowsy after midazolam had been administered but started convulsing soon after. "It was almost subtle at first," Sanderford was quoted as saying in a Time report. "He started writhing and twitching, and then the writhing and twitching just got stronger and more violent. It looked like he was trying to lift his whole upper body off the table, as if he was trying to sit up. He was mumbling things that were clearly words but I couldn't understand. His eyes opened at one point. It was the most gruesome spectacle I've ever seen in my life." Lockett was was pronounced dead at 7:06 p.m. after suffering a heart attack. His body has been sent to Austin for an independent autopsy, while Oklahoma's governor has ordered a full investigation into the inmate's death. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Here is a possible reason why victims of AirAsia 8501 are being found naked

01:33
Indonesian as well as Singaporean, South Korean, Australia, Malaysia search teams on Tuesday scoured the sea for debris from the missing AirAsia plane that disappared with 162 people on board. Rescuers began finding debris and wreckage off the coast of Borneo on Tuesday as the day wore on. Indonesia AirAsia's Flight QZ8501, an Airbus A320-200, lost contact with air traffic control early on Sunday during bad weather on a flight from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore. Preliminary flight data show that it encountered rough weather and attempted to fly around the severe storms but it may have exceeded its design limitations doing so. The aircraft may have broken up mid-flight, depressurizing the cabin, nearly instantly rendering all unconscious. If some of the victims fell free of the aircraft at altitude, their clothing would have been blown off due to the high speed of falling through the air. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets.
