Unravelling the mystery of MS | Jack van Horssen | TEDxUHasseltSalon

11:53
Jack van Horssen gives an insight into the basic aspects of our brains and more importantly he will provide us with a comprehensive overview on the mysteries of multiple sclerosis… a horrible disease that affects over 2.3 MILLION young adults worldwide. Neurobiologist Jack Van Horssen is someone who developed a very passionate interest in the complexity of the human central nervous system and its pathologies. After spending many years behind the microscope, he can tell you how the most miniscule detail could make all the difference. During this time, he became very intrigued about the understanding of pathological alterations that drive the disease progression of multiple sclerosis. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

The ONLY 7 Exercises Men Need To Build Muscle

14:31
These are the 7 best exercises for men to build muscle fast. Whether you're a beginner, a skinny guy struggling to get bigger, or even if you're advanced these exercises will help you gain muscle mass faster. You should be incorporating a couple of these everyday obviously leaving enough time for recovery. You can also combine these exercises into full body muscle building workouts that provide the best results. 🔥 FREE 6 Week Challenge: https://gravitychallenges.com/home65d4f?utm_source=ytube&utm_term=bear Fat Loss Calculator: https://bit.ly/2JoQenD TIMESTAMPS: #1-Barbell row 1:04 #2- Barbell and dumbbell chest presses 2:48 #3- Barbell squats 4:33 #4- The pull up 7:12 #5 -Deadlift 8:51 #6- Shoulder press 10:15 #7- Power clean 11:51 If you're looking for the simplest solution to build muscle in a fast and efficient way, the bottom line so to speak, I gotta say it doesn't get much simpler than this. Because after spending years building muscle naturally I've learned that there are certain useless exercises that you should avoid entirely other exercises that you might want to consider incorporating and then there are the exercises that you just cant go without. Exercises that by themselves have the power to transform your physique. I've narrowed this list down to just seven of the most important exercises that you absolutely should have as a staple part of your routine to efficiently build the most muscle in the shortest amount of time. By mastering these 7 key compound exercises you'll see incredible results even if you're not doing any other exercises in the gym. And I made this video specifically for men not because women can't benefit from these exercises as well but because the ideal attractive body type for men is a V shape whereas for women it's more of an hourglass figure. So even though a lot of the exercises do crossover for both men women this video is specifically to help you develop the best manly physique with the least amount of exercises possible. I'm going to list off these exercises in no particular order, so Let's start first with a very important upper body exercise the bent over barbell Row. With this exercise you'll be working the rhomboids which are the muscles that connect your shoulder blades together so your upper back muscles and you'll also be working the back of your shoulder and your biceps. This is one of the most important pulling movements that you can do. Because you're working multiple muscle groups responsible for Pulling you're able to lift a lot more weight with this compound exercise then if you were to isolate any one of these muscles individually. By strengthening your rhomboids and your posterior deltoid you'll be tightening up your upper back which will help you hold yourself straight up and maintain a better more attractive upright posture. Since you can lift heavy weight with this exercise your biceps are also going to get a lot of stimulation because you'll be lifting a weight that would be impossible to lift with an isolated movement like bicep curls. A basic bent over row is done by grabbing a barbell with your hands a little wider than shoulder-width apart. Stick your butt out and stick your chest out before beginning the movement. Then bend down by about 60 degrees so you're a little higher than being fully parallel to the ground and you want let the weight hang straight down, do not flex your shoulders. While keeping your chest out pull the barbell inward towards your stomach and aim to touch your belly button with the bar. Then bring it back down to that hanging position and repeat this motion for reps. The great thing about rows is that you can do it with a barbell or you can do it with dumbbells, but a general rule of thumb to remember is that you'll be able to lift more weight and typically you'll be able to build more mass with barbells over dumbbells. Also by changing the angles at which you bend during a bent over row you can Target different parts of your back. A fully bent-over position where you're at a 90 degree angle will Target more of your lats and the middle of your back whereas standing more upright will Target more of your traps and upper back. Let's move on to another staple exercise that you should be doing, barbell and dumbbell chest presses. While the rows will help you develop the posterior or the back part of your upper body the chest presses are there to help you develop the anterior or the front part of your upper body. It'll hit your chest, the front head of your shoulders as well as your triceps. With chest presses you want to spend the majority of your time doing them at two different angles flat and incline. If your weakness is your upper chest you want to spend more of your time doing incline presses. if your upper chest is fine but you lack lower chest development you want to spend more of your time doing flat movements. Now the reason why I didn't mention the decline angle is because with flat presses you're going to get

5 Early Signs of MS (Multiple Sclerosis) - pre-diagnosis symptoms of M.S. that a neurologist can see

08:40
Have you got MS? how would you know? how could you tell if you have Multiple Sclerosis? These are 5 signs that I got before I was diagnosed with M.S. that I can now see are common among my fellow warriors. 1. Ocular Neuritis - eye problems 2. Pins & Needles or buzzing 3. Drop foot 4. Pains or aches 5. Cogfog (cognitive issues) All of these signs taken on their own DO NOT mean that you have multiple sclerosis, all together don't even mean it but some things that you might be familiar with or reassured by knowing that you don't have them. These are just the things that happened to me and a few others before we knew for sure that we had MS. Be sure to speak to your GP about any issues like these because it is your medical history of more than one thing that will be used by any neurologist that you get referred to. Don't always believe what you read on the internet! or even see on Youtube, use your own common sense, don't panic and always listen to a doctor. I keep a video diary here on youtube.com/c/msvideodiary and over on http://facebook.com/msvideodiary I'd love to see you in these places so we can all benefit from the answers you have or are seeking about your (pending) diagnosis

6-SECRETS TO HEALING MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS (MS) THAT YOUR NEUROLOGIST DOESN’T WANT YOU TO KNOW!!!

10:58
6-SECRETS TO HEALING MS THAT YOUR NEUROLOGIST DOESN’T WANT YOU TO KNOW!!! 1: STEM CELL THERAPY 2: FUNCTIONAL NEUROLOGY 3: GENETIC TESTING 4: HOMEOPATHY 5: COMPLETE BLOOD WORK 6: DIET AND LIFESTYLE WATCH THIS REVOLUTIONARY, GROUND BREAKING VIDEO NOW! WHAT MAKES THE OPTIMAL HEALTH STEM CELL AND WELLNESS INSTITUTE DIFFERENT FROM EVERY OTHER STEM CELL CLINIC? #1: REMOVAL OF UNDERLYING INFECTIONS AND CHEMICALS! THIS IS A MUST! We have specific protocols to remove underlying infections and chemicals from the body. Many chronic pain or chronic disease patients have infections or chemicals still lodged in the body that are at the root cause of their condition. Our specific protocols help to eliminate them. No other stem cell clinic has our protocols! This is why there are failures with chronic pain or disease and stem cell therapy, The infections or chemicals that CAUSED the condition in the first place are not being removed from the body! #2: COMPLETE BLOOD WORK! Complete blood work to reduce underlying infections, chemicals and inflammation! We do a Complete Metabolic Panel (blood sugar, liver, adrenal, gut, kidney and gall bladder function.) a CBC with auto diff (breaks down the red and white blood cells), a compete Lipid Panel (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL, and Cholesterol/HDL ratio) and a complete Thyroid Panel (your thyroid DRIVES your metabolism...TSH, Free T3, Free T4, Total T4, Free Thyroixine Index or FTI, T3 Uptake, TPO or ATA, TGB or ATG, TBG or Thyroxine Binding Globulin and Reverse T3). #3: COMPLETE HORMONE TESTING! You NEED cholesterol because it allows your body to make hormones! Your body uses cholesterol to make pregnenolone. Pregnenolone is THE MOTHER HORMONE of which ALL other hormones are made (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, cortisol, DHEA, etc). Pregnenolone is VERY important for brain function because it is the FAT that makes up the brain so it BOOSTS cognitive function. With normal levels of pregnenolone, you can expect improved memory and learning capacity. Pregnenolone stimulates sleep and if your cholesterol is too high, it lowers cholesterol! It is VERY important for your nerves because it makes up the myelin sheath. This is WHY hormone testing from www.dutchtest.com and blood work is VERY IMPORTANT because it will help the patient heal faster! #4: PLATELET RICH PLASMA OR PRP! We use PRP with a nebulizer as a home therapy to help the stem cells heal the body and reduce inflammation! This is especially helpful with lung disease patients. We also may use it with other chronic disease patients. #5: INTRATHECAL INJECTIONS! We use intrathecal injections into the spine with chronic neurological patients like MS, Parkinson’s and stroke rehab patients. An intrathecal injection allows the stem cells to cross the blood-brain barrier. Having the stem cells cross the blood-brain barrier helps the neurological patient to heal faster! #6: ALL 3-STEM CELL PROTOCOLS! We are familiar with ALL 3-Stem Cell Therapy Protocols…amniotic, adipose, and bone marrow! To be frank, we have found through using stem cell therapy on hundreds of patients that adipose or fat derived stem cell therapy is by far the best! #7: HIGH NUMBER OF ADMINISTERED STEM CELLS! Extremely High Number of IV administered Stem Cells! 60 ml = 2 million stem cells! #8: HIGHLY TRAINED STAFF! Our staff is highly trained! We continue to go to conferences and seminars to implement the latest advances. #9: GENETIC TESTING! We do Genetic Testing! Please go to www.drjgeneticsupport.com and watch the video! #10: FOUR -POINT THERAPY PROGRAM! Include our 4-Point Therapy Program! Go to www.drj4pointtherapyprogram.com. PEMF, laser therapy and Hako-Med therapy help the stem cells grow (proliferate) and turn into other cells (differentiate) #11: COMPOUNDING PHARMACY! We use a compounding pharmacy for our specific patient needs! Whether for LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone) or a topical cream to reduce pain, specific formulas can be produced for the patient! Our compounding pharmacy is one of top compounding pharmacies in the country, Home Town Pharmacy in Sun Prairie, WI. www.hometownpharmacy.com #12: ACUPUNCTURE! Acupuncture has been shown to help stem cells grow and turn into other cells. Our on-site acupuncturist uses a specific type of acupuncture to allow stem cells to grow and differentiate. #13: IV THERAPY! We use IV therapy to infuse vital nutrients like glutathione (the body’s master anti-oxidant) and other essential vitamins and minerals. IV therapy will bypass barriers to absorption and supercharge the body with therapeutic levels of healing nutrients. .

16 Early Signs and Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis You Should Know

06:27
16 Early Signs and Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis Help us to be better Like, Comment, Subscribe and invite all your friends to see our videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUOF1_1_fY50PVN0TtItbDQ?sub_confirmation=1 What is multiple sclerosis? Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a progressive, immune-mediated disorder. That means the system designed to keep your body healthy mistakenly attacks parts of your body that are vital to everyday function. The protective coverings of nerve cells are damaged, which leads to diminished function in the brain and spinal cord. MS is a disease with unpredictable symptoms that can vary in intensity. While some people experience fatigue and numbness, severe cases of MS can cause paralysis, vision loss, and diminished brain function. Common early signs of multiple sclerosis (MS) include: 1. Vision problems Visual problems are one of the most common symptoms of MS. Inflammation affects the optic nerve and disrupts central vision. This can cause blurred vision, double vision, or loss of vision. You may not notice the vision problems immediately, as degeneration of clear vision can be slow. Pain when you look up or to one side also can accompany vision loss. There are variety of ways to cope with MS-related vision changes. 2. Tingling and numbness MS affects nerves in the brain and spinal cord (the body’s message center). This means it can send conflicting signals around the body. Sometimes, no signals are sent. This results in numbness. Tingling sensations and numbness are one of the most common warning signs of MS. Common sites of numbness include the face, arms, legs, and fingers. 3. Pain and spasms Chronic pain and involuntary muscle spasms are also common with MS. One study, according to the National MS Society, showed that half of people with MS had chronic pain. Muscle stiffness or spasms (spasticity) are also common. You might experience stiff muscles or joints as well as uncontrollable, painful jerking movements of the extremities. The legs are most often affected, but back pain is also common. 4. Fatigue and weakness Unexplained fatigue and weakness affect about 80 percent of people in the early stages of MS. Chronic fatigue occurs when nerves deteriorate in the spinal column. Usually, the fatigue appears suddenly and lasts for weeks before improving. The weakness is most noticeable in the legs at first. 5. Balance problems and dizziness Dizziness and problems with coordination and balance can decrease the mobility of someone with MS. Your doctor may refer to these as problems with your gait. People with MS often feel lightheaded, dizzy, or as if their surroundings are spinning (vertigo). This symptom often occurs when you stand up. 6. Bladder and bowell dysfunction A dysfunctional bladder is another symptom occurring in up to 80 percent of people with MS. This can include frequent urination, strong urges to urinate, or inability to hold in urinee. Urinary-related symptoms are often manageable. Less often, people with MS experience constipation, diarrhea, or loss of bowell control. 7. sexuall dysfunction sexuall arousal can also be a problem for people with MS because it begins in the central nervous system — where MS attacks. 8. Cognitive problems About half of people with MS will develop some kind of issue with their cognitive function. This can include: 1 memory problems 2 shortened attention span 3 language problems 4 difficulty staying organized Depression and other emotional health problems are also common. 9. Changes in emotional health Major depression is common among people with MS. The stresses of MS can also cause irritability, mood swings, and a condition called pseudobulbar affect. This involves bouts of uncontrollable crying and laughing. Coping with MS symptoms, along with relationship or family issues, can make depression and other emotional disorders even more challenging. 10–16. Other symptoms Not everyone with MS will have the same symptoms. Different symptoms can manifest during relapses or attacks. Along with the symptoms mentioned on the previous slides, MS can also cause: 1 hearing loss 2 seizures 3 uncontrollable shaking 4 breathing problems 5 slurred speech 6 trouble swallowing More from Stay Healthy: SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS YOU ARE LACKING OF CALCIUM YOU SHOULD KNOW IT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weq0yo1EXCA SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF IRON DEFICIENCY YOU SHOULD KNOW https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19J-XRmXoZE 6 SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS THAT YOU HAVE AN UNDERACTIVE THYROID https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzSOSFmFJJc 10 Things Your Nails Can Reveal About Your Health https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eDzNfcDj_4 15 Warning Signs You’ve Got Poor Circulation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSinlYysCz0 6 Signs And Symptoms Of Fibromyalgia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgR9QQ6yff0 16 Early Signs and Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis By Stay Healthy

15 Ways To Help Treat Multiple Sclerosis Naturally - Cure MS Naturally

06:38
15 Ways To Help Treat Multiple Sclerosis Naturally - Cure MS Naturally Help us to be better Like, Comment, Subscribe and invite all your friends to see our videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUOF1_1_fY50PVN0TtItbDQ?sub_confirmation=1 1. Start taking vitamin D. A lack of vitamin D may be a cause of multiple sclerosis. Studies show clusters of MS sufferers in areas around the world that lack consistent amounts of sunlight. Get a vitamin D test and boost your level with a good vitamin D3 supplement that also includes vitamin K2 to ensure its efficacy. The main source of vitamin D is the sun. Twenty minutes a day in the morning sun with plenty of skin showing will help, but if you have a deficiency, reverse it as soon as possible. 2. Stop using the microwave. Irradiated food isn't healthy! 3. Eat organic foods and stay away from GMOs. GMO stands for genetically modified organism. Yep, genetically modified food sounds scary, doesn’t it? Over 50 countries worldwide can’t be wrong about banning GMO foods, although the U.S. hasn’t banned them yet. 4. Eat organic, wild sockeye salmon. Wild sockeye salmon is rich in proteins and good omega-3 fats. One serving per week goes a long way toward improving health in multiple sclerosis by providing healthy fats that decrease inflammation. 5. Get tested for food sensitivities. This is extremely important some food allergies and sensitivities are known to make MS symptoms worse because the reaction they cause creates widespread inflammation throughout your body. 6. Get a blood test to check your vitamin levels and heavy metal levels. Many MS sufferers are extremely low in several vitamins, and heavy metal toxicity can mimic many multiple sclerosis symptoms. Find out where your body stands in terms of these issues. 7. Add veggies to your diet. It’s the green stuff spinach, kale, cucumbers, broccoli and cabbage that offer MS patients a lot of phytonutrients that can benefit health. 8. Start a massage protocol. Massage will help stimulate lymphatic flow and circulation, increase joint flexibility and can even help with muscle spascity. 9. STOP, STOP, STOP drinking any type of soda. Soda wreaks havoc on your entire body, and with MS sufferers who already have a compromised immune system. The carbonation acts in the body as a waste product that must be detoxified. Give your body every opportunity to be healthy and heal by not loading it down with waste products. 10. Exercise. You can swim, walk, use an elliptical machine, ride a stationary bike, do Pilates, yoga, or practice simple stretches. Lifting weights provides the most benefits to keep your muscles and core strong enough to support you! Protect your muscles from becoming atrophied. 11. Raise your body’s pH with alkaline water. The body functions at its best in an alkaline state. Water used to be neutral, but now it’s acidic and contributes to inflammation. Alkaline water helps decrease inflammation. 12. Forget bottled water. Although it may be convenient, bottled water is usually very acidic and unhealthy. No one truly knows how long the plastic bottles have been sitting in heat and sun, and both these cause leaching of chemicals (BPA) from the plastic. BPAs are known carcinogens that may cause cancer and other autoimmune challenges. 13. Say no to aspartame and MSG. It’s so important to read labels. You may be shocked, but aspartame and MSG are popping up in all kinds of foods, including gum, breads, cereals, canned goods, convenience foods and processed foods. Aspartame wasn't made for human consumption, and toxicity from aspartame and MSG mimic many MS symptoms. 14. Go gluten free or limit gluten consumption. If you’re sensitive to gluten, it will cause widespread inflammation in the body. 15. Laugh. This is the last in a lineup of many great tips for you to start on a path of restoring your body. Although the 14 previous tips are ones I've done myself and helped contribute to my overcoming MS, laughter is honestly one of the most important things you can do. Humor and laughter strengthen your immune system, boosts your energy, and protects you from the damage of stress. It decreases stress hormone levels, decreases pain and improves your mood. Laughter is good for your soul. It’s FREE. And let’s face it, everyone’s happier when you laugh together. 15 Ways To Help Treat Multiple Sclerosis Naturally - Cure MS Naturally By Stay Healthy

Multiple Sclerosis Nursing | Multiple Sclerosis Treatment, Symptoms, NCLEX Review

23:28
Multiple sclerosis is a neurological disorder that affects the myelin sheath of the neurons in the central nervous system. This video will discuss the pathophysiology of multiple sclerosis, signs and symptoms, nursing interventions, and medications used to treat MS. Multiple sclerosis tends to affect women more than men and tends to occur between the ages of 20-40 years. It is an autoimmune condition where the immune system cells are actually attacking the myelin sheath on the axon of the neuron. What is the function of the myelin sheath? To protect and insulate the axon so nerve transmission can occur. However, if the myelin sheath is damaged this causes inflammation and scarring of the neuron, which will lead to a decrease in nerve transmission. This is why sensory and motor symptoms can present in this condition. Signs and symptoms of multiple sclerosis vary among patients because lesions (demyelination of the myelin sheath) can occur in various places. Therefore, typical signs and symptoms include: fatigue, tingling/numbness of the face and extremities, speech issues (dysarthria), coordination issues, dizziness, vertigo, vision issues (blurry vision, dark spots in visual field, nystagmus, pain when moving the eyes etc.), tremors, muscle spasms, bowel and bladder problems along with specific signs such as: Lhermitte's Sign: this is where if the patient moves their head and neck in certain positions it will elicit an electrical shock sensation down the body. Uhthoff's Sign: experiencing extreme heat will make MS signs and symptoms worst. Romberg's Sign: the patient loses coordination when closing eyes in a standing position (their body becomes unaware of its position in space). Multiple Sclerosis nursing intervention include: safety, educating about preventing worsening of symptoms (avoid heat, stress, infection, and overexertion), bladder and bowel education (self-cath, high fiber diet, 1-2 L of fluids, skin care), etc. Medication used to treat multiple sclerosis are based on the patient's signs and symptoms (there is currently no cure for this disease). Medications include: Beta interferon (Avonex, Rebif), corticosteroids (for relapse of symptoms), Oxybutynin and Bethanechol (bladder issues), Bacolfen (spasms), Propranolol (tremors), etc. Quiz: http://www.registerednursern.com/multiple-sclerosis-nclex-questions/ Notes: http://www.registerednursern.com/multiple-sclerosis-ms-nclex-review/ #Multiplesclerosis #ms #multiple sclerosis More Neuro Videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQrdx7rRsKfWwTsEG3KPPQx9rWa8AqMIk Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RegisteredNurseRNs Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/registerednursern_com/ Subscribe: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=registerednursern Popular Playlists: NCLEX Reviews: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQrdx7rRsKfWtwCDmLHyX2UeHofCIcgo0 Fluid & Electrolytes: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQrdx7rRsKfWJSZ9pL8L3Q1dzdlxUzeKv Nursing Skills: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQrdx7rRsKfUhd_qQYEbp0Eab3uUKhgKb Nursing School Study Tips: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQrdx7rRsKfWBO40qeDmmaMwMHJEWc9Ms Nursing School Tips & Questions" https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQrdx7rRsKfVQok-t1X5ZMGgQr3IMBY9M Teaching Tutorials: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQrdx7rRsKfUkW_DpJekN_Y0lFkVNFyVF Types of Nursing Specialties: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQrdx7rRsKfW8dRD72gUFa5W7XdfoxArp Healthcare Salary Information: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQrdx7rRsKfVN0vmEP59Tx2bIaB_3Qhdh New Nurse Tips: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQrdx7rRsKfVTqH6LIoAD2zROuzX9GXZy Nursing Career Help: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQrdx7rRsKfVXjptWyvj2sx1k1587B_pj EKG Teaching Tutorials: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQrdx7rRsKfU-A9UTclI0tOYrNJ1N5SNt Dosage & Calculations for Nurses: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQrdx7rRsKfUYdl0TZQ0Tc2-hLlXlHNXq Diabetes Health Managment: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQrdx7rRsKfXtEx17D7zC1efmWIX-iIs9
