In essence, Ben said that he does not think it's right to harm or abuse animals, but he openly admitted that likes the taste of meat. "People need meat," Ben said. "They need protein." He said that if there was a viable alternative to getting protein from a non-meat source he would consider not eating meat anymore. Well, there is. They are called Spirulina and Chlorella, the two most powerful foods in the world. Micro nutrients. By eating a plant based diet you should be incorporating more fruits and vegetables into your diet which are rich in micro nutrients - vitamins and minerals. When it comes to bodybuilding macro nutrients usually over shadow micro nutrients but the truth is micro nutrients are more important for your overall health. You need to ensure you're getting sufficient vitamin c, calcium, zinc, etc. Only supplement with b12 - only because by not eating meat you won't be getting b12. But the only reason you get b12 from animals is because they are injected with a b12 supplement! Eating less protein will put less strain on your digestive system. We've all heard it, eating protein takes more energy for your body to break it down and digest it. It's true it does! The next point is reduced gut inflammation. So when you consume animal protein, eggs or diary products as mentioned your body has a harder time breaking down the proteins and digesting them, this leads to gut inflammation which is not a good thing. Gut health is important because it can affect how we feel inside and outside, it can play havoc with our immune system or support it depending on what you put in your body. Diary is especially bad in this regard because as humans we aren't designed to drink other mammals milk, our bodies don't have the necessary enzymes needed to properly break down the lactose in milk which is why so many people feel sick or bloated after drinking milk or eating diary. Next topic is energy levels. By eating a plant based diet you're more likely to eat more carbs. Following a high carb diet does wonders for your energy levels. Glucose is human primary fuel source and that's exactly what carbs convert to when our bodies break them down. I remember the first couple of weeks after I went vegan my energy levels jumped through the roof and my workouts benefited from this. By eliminating animal products from your diet you're also eliminating cholesterol and less likely to intake saturated fats.
