6 rooms into 1: morphing apartment packs 1100 sq ft into 420
In 2010, we met Graham Hill- the founder of treehugger.com and a serial entrepreneur. He had just bought two tiny apartments in a century-old tenement building in Soho and he had plans to turn them into laboratories, and showcases, for tiny living. He'd spent most of the past year living in tiny spaces- "a tiny trailer, a tent, and then a boat" and he was convinced others would love it as much if small spaces could be designed right. He wanted a tiny space that didn't sacrifice function, but instead that would expand to provide a wish list including dinner parties for 12, accommodations for 2 overnight guests, a home office and a home theater with digital projector. Not wanting to limit himself to local architects, he crowdsourced the design as a competition and received 300 entries from all over the world. Two Romanian architecture students won with their design "One Size Fits All". Completed in 2012, his LifeEdited apartment doesn't resemble the cramped space we saw in 2010. Today the 420-square-foot space can be expanded to include the functionality of 1,100 square feet: walls, drawers and beds move and unfold to create 6 rooms: living room, dining room, office, guest office, master bedroom and guest bedroom. If you include the kitchen and the bathroom which morphs into a phone booth or meditation room, the apartment includes 10 total rooms. DIY cardboard furniture with free IKEA-style instructions
Industrial designer Adrian Candela was overwhelmed by the packing waste stacked in his living room after a recent move and being in need of a nightstand and not wanting to spend any more money, he turned the old boxes into new furniture. His Nit (Catalan for "night") nightstand is now 8 months old (it was a Christmas gift for his girlfriend) and it is still standing (it's even had water spilt on it). Inspired by how easy the process was to upcycle his corrugated fiberboard, Candela created a simple step-by-step assembly guide that he has made available for free online so that others too could turn their furniture waste into side tables. Extreme transformer home in Hong Kong: Gary Chang's 24 rooms in 1
Gary Chang has lived in the same 32 square meters (344 square feet) for nearly his entire life. Nearly 40 years ago, he moved into the tiny apartment with not only his parents and 3 younger sisters, but they rented a room to a tenant. During his childhood the space was divided into several small rooms- kitchen, bathrooms and 3 bedrooms (Chang slept on the couch). In 1988 when his family moved out (into something bigger), Chang bought the place from the landlord for $45,000 and began his experiments in small space design. Today, at first glance, the small space appears a fairly average open studio, but with pulls on handles, walls slide across steel tracks, Chang can have a "maximum kitchen", a guest bedroom, a library, dining room, laundry-room and even a spa: one walls slides to reveal an extra-large Duravit bathtub. His home is tricked out with a wall-sized movie screen, a shower with color therapy and massage that doubles as a steam room, but Chang argues that the moving walls are fairly low-tech. And while he can control his appliances with his smartphone he usually prefers the manual option. Chang is now an architect (Edge Design) with a focus on micro-apartments. *Cameraman Johnny Sanphillippo also films for the site Strong Towns: http://www.strongtowns.org/ Gary Chang's Edge Design: http://www.edgedesign.com.hk Original story: http://faircompanies.com/videos/view/extreme-transformer-in-hong-kong-gary-changs-24-rooms-in-1/

Military Makeover: Meet the Harrison Family
On this episode of Military Makeover, meet the Harrison family from Kansas City, Missouri. Army sergeant Casey Harrison is a loving husband and devoted father who put his life on the line to protect our country. An unsung hero of the war in Iraq, Casey drove the lead vehicle of his unit’s convoy team, which was assigned to identify enemy bombs. His duty put him in a direct line of fire against enemy combatants. On many occasions, he found himself under attack. Through repeated close proximity explosions and powerful shockwave impacts, the resulting head injuries have left Casey with a permanent ringing in his ears. He requires the use of special hearing devices to help him drown out the relentless noise. Like many veterans, Casey also suffers from severe anxiety as a symptom of his PTSD—to the point where he cannot answer his cell phone if he doesn’t recognize the number. With the love of a few close friends and family, Casey and his family are doing the best they can to make things work. Military Makeover is here to help pay it back to Casey and his family with a complete renovation of their home in Independence, Mo., a suburb outside of Kansas City. First up, Mission Solar will revolutionize the Harrison home with a complete solar-powered energy system–a first on Military Makeover! That's why Eaton Corporation donates a brand-new, state-of-the-art electrical panel, which is strong enough to support the Harrisons' new solar power energy system. Then, the Harrisons get a fresh look with calm and cool paint colors provided by Behr, one of the country’s leading suppliers of paint products. MM1501

Log Cabin TIMELAPSE Built By ONE MAN In The Forest
No talking viral timelapse video of Shawn James off grid log cabin build by one man alone in the wilderness of Canada, from 1st tree I cut to last floor board I laid. Please SUBSCRIBE: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIMXKin1fXXCeq2UJePJEog?sub_confirmation=1 So Why Should You Subscribe To My Channel? To watch me build my next cabin - bigger and better than this one!.. To relax… To virtually immerse yourself in nature… To see how I live debt free, stress free and low cost… To see how I build things alone… To see how I cook with no electricity or gas… To hear what steps I took to retire in my mid-forties so I could live my dream life… To interact with the happiest and most helpful community of viewers on YouTube… To become more self-reliant. If you want to build a rustic log cabin or tiny off grid home alone in the wilderness and you haven't seen the rest of my videos, this is a good primer. It's super fast motion though, so if you are interested in building a primitive log cabin like this, take a look at the "Log Cabin The Bear Den" playlist on the channel. At the beginning of the video, I show a winter drone photo of the cabin in the snow in December. Then I flashback to the first balsam fir tree I cut down with a saw and axe near the cabin. I drag the trees into place and clear the cabin site. All summer, I cut the notches in the logs as I built the cabin up, offsite. Once I was finished notching the logs with a log scribe, saw, axe, adze and wood carving gouge, I loaded up the entire cabin of logs and moved them to my land near Algonquin Park, Ontario Canada. Once on site, I spent a month reassembling the cabin on a foundation of sand and gravel. Once the log walls were up, I again used hand tools to shape every log, board and timber to erect the gable ends, the wood roof, the porch, the outhouse and a seemingly endless number of woodworking projects. For the roof, I used an ancient primitive technology to waterproof and preserve the wood - shou sugi ban, a fire hardening wood preservation technique unique to Japan and other areas in northern climates. Because the cabin is offgrid, I have used handtools for most of the build and without power, I have no options on site regardless. The tiny house will continue to be operated with power, not even renewable energy for now, so I'm heating the cabin with a woodstove fire place, which I also cook on. The cabin is made of cedar fence posts, twelve feet long and the cabin measures 10 feet x 20 feet inside with a one hundred square foot sleeping loft on the second floor. The floor is made of two inch thick pine planks, torched to help repel water and to give them a rustic barn board appearance. Tune off sound if you don't want to hear the music, - there is no talking in this silent video. If you are a subscriber or long time viewer, there is some new footage at the end of the video, but otherwise you have seen most of this. As always, I'll release a new video on Friday showing the progress I made this week on the door and the ice box for food storage. DIY TABLE - 2X4 challenge - SPIRAL pedestal wood table
2x4 furniture projects do not have to be ugly, nor do they have to look like they’re made out of 2x4’s. My little spiral pedestal table is a good example of how a diy, homemade table from the least expensive lumberyard 2x4 lumber (pine, spruce, fir, etc). I was in the army when I made this hand carved spiral table and at the time I believe I spent $20-$25 on the materials. It was about 20 years ago, but the equivalent value of 2x4 lumber has not change drastically. i may decide to revisit this table design for one of the 2x4 challenge that often pop up. The pedestal turning was probably the most complicated part of the table. The blank was glued up with the joints staggered for strength, and the 2x4’s were cut down on the edges to remove the radius corners. The finished dimensions of the 2x4 pieces I used in the glue up were 1.5”x3” (actual 2x4’s measure 1.5”x3.5”) this allowed for a tight joint on all the edges. I turned the pedestal between centers and then laid out the spiral. After that all of the work was done by hand to carve the spiral. Something I don’t mention in the video, but you can see if you look closely, is that the spiral is making 2 complete revolutions around the pedestal. The top was made in a similar fashion with a cross brace added to support the boards. The interesting aspect of the top is the beveled underside giving the appearance that the top is much thinner than it really is. It’s a nice illusion because the table is quite heavy and sturdy. The carousel is an important mechanism that allows a wedge to lock the top to the pedestal. The feet are simple enough but the key to being able to take it apart are the sliding dovetails. Since each was hand cut they are numbered to fit in the correct location. Lastly the legs taper toward the ash balls and are mortice and Tennon joined. After 20 years of assembly, disassembly, use, abuse, travel, bumps, and scratches….the table has held together impressively. This, as with all projects, is a cause for reflection… I would make this table differently today than I did 20 years ago. I hope you enjoyed the video and please don’t forget to subscribe #2x4challenge #2x4furniture #2x4design #2x4table

Caliber: 5.56x45 mm NATO Action: Gas operated, rotating bolt Overall length: 945 mm with fixed butt; 960 / 750 mm with folding butt Barrel length: 464 mm Weight: 3.2 kg empty Rate of fire: 650 rounds per minute Magazine capacity: 20 or 30 rounds Since late 1950s, Indian armed forces were equipped with 7.62mm NATO L1A1 self-loading rifles, which were licensed copies of the famous Belgian FN FAL rifle. As the 7.62mm self-loading rifles started to become obsolete by the 1980s, India began to develop the INSAS (Indian National Small Arms System), which incorporated features from several popular foreign designs. The INSAS system was originally planned to have three components - a standard rifle, a carbine, and a squad automatic rifle (LMG), all chambered for 5.56 x 45 NATO ammunition. In 1997 the rifle and LMG were ready for mass production, and in 1998 the first units were observed on an Independence Day parade armed with INSAS rifles. The mass introduction of the INSAS rifle was initially delayed by the lack of the domestically made 5.56 mm ammunition and India accordingly bought significant stocks of ammunition from the Israeli IMI company. At the present time at least 300,000 INSAS rifles are in service with the Indian army; some of these have seen action in Indo-Pakistani conflict. The INSAS rifles are made by the Ishapore Rifle Factory. The INSAS rifle is broadly based on the famous Kalashnikov AK-47 action, but with many modifications. The basic gas-operated action with long stroke gas piston and a rotating bolt, as well as the stamped steel receiver, are generally the same as in modern Kalashnikov rifles. However, the gas system is fitted with a manual gas regulator, similar in design to that found on FN FAL rifles, as well as a gas cutoff. The charging handle has been moved from the bolt carrier to the left side of the forearm; it is similar in position and design to German HK G3 rifle. The selector / safety switch is located at the left side of the receiver, above the pistol grip, and allows for single shots and three round bursts. The rifle is fitted with a side-folding carrying handle, and either a solid or side-folding metal buttstock. Furniture can be made from wood or polymer. Standard magazines are made from semi-translucent polymer and contain 20 rounds. Longer 30-round magazines of similar design are available for the INSAS LMG but can also be used in the rifle. The sights consist of a hooded front, mounted on top of the gas block, and a diopter rear, mounted on the receiver cover. The flash hider is shaped to accept NATO-standard rifle grenades. INSAS rifles can be fitted with AKM-style multipurpose knife-bayonets.

Zac Efron Workout and Diet Plan (BAYWATCH!!)
Build ripped muscle like Zac with this program… http://athleanx.com/x/built-like-zac-year-round Zac Efron’s workout and diet plan are making waves this Summer because of his incredible physique transformation preparing for Baywatch. Along side the Rock, Zac holds his own, having carved out a chiseled body by focusing on 7 key elements of his training and nutrition. Recently, Men’s Fitness magazine published a story about the gains Efron made to get ready for his Summer comedy role. In this video, I am breaking down the most important aspects of his diet plan and workouts to help you to start getting better results from your workouts heading into Summer. I’m also going to take a look back at a former “most wanted” celebrity body (that of Taylor Lautner) to see what went wrong and prevented his gains from being permanent. First and foremost, it is worth noting that neither Zac Efron or Taylor Lautner are heavyweights. Both stand just 5 foot 10 inches tall and weigh no more than 170 pounds. To make his transformation for Baywatch, Efron gained just 10 pounds of lean muscle. The thing is, when you minimize your body fat levels and maximize the amount of muscle your body can naturally carry…you look much bigger than you are. Both of these guys have mastered this. That said, you can’t expect to look better without being willing to put in some hard work along the way. Zac did just this by adopting more heavy weight training into his workout routine. He stated that he never had lifted very heavy or explosive before preparing for this film. A lot of people actually find themselves in a similar position either because they are uncomfortable lifting heavy or just don’t have the base strength to be able to do it. By increasing his strength levels on the basic compound lifts, Efron was able to start adding to his muscle density and thickness. Next he followed a push, pull, legs training split. This workout sequence allows you to train your body more athletically since you train movements instead of individual muscles. The back and biceps are responsible for all lifts in which you pull the weight towards you or pull your body towards a fixed bar. It’s impossible to isolate their actions so it helps to train them together to allow you more recovery time between workouts. Daily ab training is another key to having the resting tone needed to showcase your abs year round (provided your diet and nutrition are in check). Zac Efron’s diet is also covered here as well. By including a cheat day once in awhile, he is able to maintain his sanity and consistency required to keep his body fat levels low year round. For a complete workout and nutrition plan to build athletic, ripped muscle like Zac Efron head to http://athleanx.com and get the ATHLEAN-X Training System. Heating Seattle backyard studio with soda cans as solar panels
Peter Rowan left his job as a "corporate weenie" in 2010 to live a life with less stuff and fewer expenses and with more time to pursue his dreams. Since downsizing his life, he's begun writing fiction from home (in addition to a teaching gig) so for a bit more privacy, this year he decided to single-handedly convert the family's unused garage into his off-grid writing retreat. Crafting it mostly out of repurposed materials, he decided to heat it using a home-made, recycled can solar panel. After collecting 275 cans (soda, juice, mineral water and beer), he began to drill holes into the ends, glue them together and fit them into a box crafted from plywood and 2 by 4's. Adding a bit of black spray paint and some plexiglass, he created his home-made solar panel. He salvaged a couple of fans from an old computer to create a system for pushing cold air into the solar panel and pushing the hot air out and into his office. In this video, Mary Rowan used her iphone to film her husband's month-long process building a solar heater with recycled cans. Granted Seattle may not be the ideal spot for solar, but Peter says that it seems to heat up the space by about 5 or 6 degrees even on a "crummy day" and when the sun is out it can provide too much heat. DIY-crafted Seattle micro apartment: 8 spaces stacked in 182 sq ft
Ten years ago Steve Sauer was looking for a place to keep some stuff. When he found a subterranean storage unit in the basement of a century-old Seattle coop, he quickly realized it had potential as a living quarters. Drawing on his expertise as a designer of airplane interiors (at Boeing), he began to sketch a home that could fit within 182 square feet. "When I first started designing this thing, I was thinking bicycle messenger, 22 year old bicycle messenger with 8 pieces of clothing and almost nothing else just living in the city." Stacking functions Sauer's "pico dwelling" (pico is 1/trillionth) isn't about sacrifice. He's managed to fit about 8 different useful spaces into the micro apartment by stacking functions. A cafe area (complete with Eames chair) is stacked on top of a video lounge (with 37-inch TV). One floor up on the adjacent wall, a bed(room) is lofted above a walk-in closet/ office. The main floor space fits a transforming table (that folds down from a cable to seat 6) and a 3-foot-deep Japanese-style soaking tub hidden below the entryway. The kitchen backs onto a bathroom which serves as the platform for a guest bed(room). There's also storage for 2 bikes (a pull-up bar doubles as a bike holder) and steps that double as benches. More quality, less space "I drive a Smart car and I like pushing the limit to see what I can do with the smallest kind of thing in all ways. I guess being an engineer I like pushing efficiency kind of limits all over the place because it's just interesting to me." Sauer appreciates simplicity, but his main interest in small spaces is a desire for high quality and control over his environment. "Typically cost considerations are the driver for small spaces, but that wasn't at all my primary interest. I wanted higher quality than I could afford at normal size and so by compressing myself I could get high quality materials and also by building it all myself I saved that money as well." Maker built: DIY machining and IKEA hacks Sauer spent thousands of hours in materials research and settled on the exotic (i.e. German faucets and Brazilian Walnut flooring) to the mundane, using IKEA as a materials resource. His hacked IKEA projects include: cut-up shelves and tabletop serve as the frame for kitchen drawers; bed slats are both floor for the guest bed and a countertop has become floor to his cafe level; and in the kitchen, "Ikea hardwood shelving for drawer boxes, a table-top for drawer fronts, countertop planks for framing, and heavy duty drawer glides." Standing beneath a former-table-top-glass-turned-translucent-bathroom-ceiling (also the guest bed floor, covered by bed slats), Sauer explains, "This would cost a fortune if I ordered it custom and it's only a couple of hundred from IKEA with a whole table so IKEA really comes to the rescue with some of these things as materials supply." Nearly every piece of furniture or appliance reveals some mix of Sauer's DIY tinkering. The bathroom sink is a mix of "floor wood as a deck, Ikea shelf brackets, a glass vessel sink, and satin-finish pipery". Bathroom towel racks that were too expensive to purchase were replicated via "desperate acts of machining stainless steel" (an earlier iteration used boat-part stanchions). His soap/shampoo shelving was constructed from stainless steel kitchen containers fitted into a laser-cut panel. A bike shifter mechanism became part of a showerhead. 3form plastic products serve as both a cover for his soaking tub (1" Chroma) that is strong enough to double as a floor, and a semi-translucent wall between the bathroom and kitchen (1/4" Varia Ecoresin). Sauer doesn't have formal construction training, but he is a self-taught practitioner of all the residential construction trades, holds a master's degree in whole systems design, and has a little workshop that includes a lathe (an Atlas 6" metal lathe) from his father that was resurrected for extensive custom machining. A pico development? The final project shows off Sauer's dedication to quality and custom finishes and it was a labor of love. It took 7 years to complete and 2 years to get permitted. Today, Sauer has the permits and a certificate of occupancy for his tiny home and he would love to take what he's learned and create an entire building of high-end micro apartments. An original maker: Paul Elkins, Pacific Northwest polymath
* Paul now has plans available: http://www.elkinsdiy.com/plans/ Paul Elkins has always loved to doodle; when he turned 8 years old his mother bought him his first serious sketch pad and he has since filled 25 more books with his designs. Elkins redesigned the world around him with his drawings of mini submarines, backpack helicopters, gas vapor carburetors and turbo-powered skateboards. Unlike the work of other dreamers, Elkins' designs didn't remain trapped on the page. Inspired by a tinkering father, and uncle, he has turned dozens of his whimsical ideas into a reality that defies description. There's his Mochet velocycle pedal car, 7-pound Coroplast foldable kayak, rapid deployment Coroplast shelter for Ice fishing or Emergencies, bicycle camper, to name just a few. Today, the Internet has made it easier to become a maker, but when Elkins first started tinkering he had to rely on magazines like Popular Mechanics and Mother Earth News and the occasional library book to find similar concepts to build upon. Now after decades as a self-taught inventor, Elkins has built dozens of bicycles (many inspired by the recumbent bicycle he first spotted as a ten year old at a car show), boats, micro-shelters (some hardly bigger than a person, but equipped with solar showers and running water) and those category-defying inventions like a human-powered wheel. Elkins has never made any money from his inventions and he calls himself a "conceptual artist" instead of designer or inventor due to his lack of interest in patents or selling products. With his retirement from Boeing approaching, he is considering releasing plans for some of his designs for sale to help fund his continued design work, but Elkins' primary motivation for doing what he does will never be economic. All the inventions shown in this film can be seen more in depth on Paul's blog ElkinsDIY. http://www.elkinsdiy.com Original story: http://faircompanies.com/videos/view/an-original-maker-paul-elkins-pacific-northwest-polymath/

World's Largest Supercarrier USS Gerald R Ford (CVN 78) Enters Service - Porta-aviões CVN 78
World's Largest Supercarrier USS Gerald R Ford (CVN 78) Enters Service - Porta-aviões USS Gerald R Ford (CVN 78) Entra em Serviço The USS Gerald R. Ford, the newest and what is dubbed as the most advanced aircraft carrier in the United States Navy, was officially commissioned into service on Saturday at a ceremony in the U.S. city of Norfolk, Virginia. U.S. President Donald Trump was present at the ceremony on Pier 11 at Naval Station Norfolk, months after he boarded the ship to speak on his plans for the U.S. military. Thousands of U.S. civilians were also at the ceremony. The 12.9-billion U.S. dollar vessel, named after former U.S. President Gerald R. Ford, was delivered to the Navy in late May, after eight years of construction, development, and testing. Incorporating the U.S. Navy's first new aircraft carrier design in 40 years, the 1,100-foot nuclear-powered supercarrier uses advanced technology and operational systems to allow aircraft to take off and land more quickly, but with a smaller crew. Its electromagnetic catapults are able to launch a third more fighter jets than traditional systems on older carriers, while releasing less heat and being less noisy. In addition, the 100,000-ton warship has a larger deck (the size of three football fields) to improve aircraft maneuverability and a repositioned tower for better visibility. There will be approximately 4,500 sailors aboard the USS Ford, about 500 to 700 fewer than a Nimitz-class flattop, according to the U.S. Navy. The USS Ford, the most expensive U.S. military vessel originally scheduled for delivery in 2015, has caused concerns about its technology. Trump urged earlier for the Navy to go back to using steam catapults to launch aircraft because the electromagnetic systems "cost hundreds of millions of dollars more" and "it's no good." U.S. Senator John McCain, who chairs the Senate Armed Services Committee, once lashed out at the delayed delivery, saying it was unacceptable and entirely avoidable. There are 10 U.S. carriers being operated in the 11 carrier-force mandated by Congress, after the retirement of the USS Enterprise in 2012. In addition to the USS Ford, there are two other aircraft carriers of its class. The USS John F. Kennedy is scheduled to launch in 2020, while the Ford-class USS Enterprise is scheduled to begin construction in 2018.

Kristie Wolfe builds underground home & sets rural WA hamlet
Inspired by the success of the Hawaii treehouse she built for $11,000, Kristie Wolfe began searching for land to build a “Hobbit”-inspired village. Knowing that there is land to be found for cheap in this country (she bought her Hawaii property for $8000), she began to search the Northwest for sites. https://faircompanies.com/videos/building-your-own-hawaii-minimal-house-for-a-vacations-cost/ “There’s a lot of land everywhere, if you look on craigslist, if you look on zillow, you can find property so it’s not really that there’s not a lot. The issue is with property that’s in my price range- I’m looking for property that’s $10,000 to 20,000- usually there’s a reason why it’s cheap, it’s either an easement problem or you have to drive through a crappy neighborhood… but if you’re wanting to be off-grid, it opens up a whole world of selections, there’s a ton out there.” Wolfe paid $18,000 for 5 acres on a hillside above Lake Chelan, Washington. Being a couple miles down a dirt road, there was no option to be on the grid so Wolfe put in a solar panel, septic and a water tank (filled by truck for now) and began to dig the first of her underground homes. At 288 square feet, Wolfe’s “tiny house in the shire” was over the maximum square footage allowed for an un-permitted build so she went to the county for approval. With only hand-sketched plans on graph paper, she was able to get a permit. The structure went up in a few days “with a lot of help from family and friends” and it was “wrapped and roofed” in a few weeks and then Wolfe finished the interior on her own. Inspired by the “Hobbit” books, films and cartoon (from 1977), Wolfe wanted to recreate the cozy feel of a hobbit hole. "Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole and that meant comfort." Rather than buying expensive custom details, Wolfe got creative. She used the top of an old cable spool - scavenged for free long before the build- as a round door. To create round windows, she hid secondhand ($10) square windows behind repurposed circular mirror frames. For a very unique cordwood floor, she cut scraps of wood (found beside the road and old firewood) into into one-inch-thick pieces glued down with a heavy construction adhesive and grouted by hand (again thanks much help to friends and family). Wolfe has broken ground on the 2nd and 3rd hillside homes. She doesn't plan to change much of her design except to make the windows larger. The completed “village” will include an above-ground communal kitchen built to look like a thatched-roof English-style pub. House Panel Suggests Sops To Motivate Indigenous Defence Manufacturers
This video shows you that House Panel Suggests Sops To Motivate Indigenous Defence Manufacturers. Huge dependence on foreign suppliers for military hardware continues to be a cause for concern, with the Standing Committee on Defence worried about the burgeoning import bill. Suggesting that indigenous manufacturers be liberally encouraged, the Committee said they should be provided incentives to design and develop defence equipment so that India sheds the tag of largest defence importer in the world. Contracts Signed At a recent meeting, the Committee was informed that 187 contracts valued at ₹2,40,814.22 crore were signed during the last three years, until November 30, 2017. This included 119 contracts signed with Indian vendors involving ₹1,16,522.89 crore, and 68 contracts with foreign vendors involving ₹1,24,291.33 crore. Major defence equipment imported during the last three years included rockets, simulator and component level repair facility for tanks from Russia, and laser designation pods, radars, pods for aircraft, radios, weapons for ‘Garuds’ and missiles from Israel. From the US, aircraft, helicopters, missiles, artillery guns and simulators were imported, while France supplied ammunition and Bimodular Charge System (BMCS) high zone modules of artillery guns. “More than 60 per cent of defence-related requirements are met by imports. This offers a huge opportunity for import substitution. India has saved over $5 billion of its foreign reserves with its home-grown Akash missiles,” said an official with a private defence contractor. “Last year, the (Defence)s ministry scrapped a global tender for additional SRSAMs and approved the procurement of an improved version of Akash, with a domestically produced sensor,” the official added. ====================================================================================================== DISCLAIMER: Each and every content used in this video is not imaginary. Still image of Omar Khadr STORYLINE: A Canadian detainee accused of killing a United States Special Forces medic told a military judge on Thursday that he was satisfied with his defence team as his pre-trial hearing began at Guantanamo Bay. Omar Khadr, who was dressed in a white uniform reportedly reserved for the most compliant prisoners, sat unshackled with his legs crossed at the defence table beside his Pentagon-appointed attorney and two civilian defence lawyers. "Yes, sir," said Khadr, who wore a close-cropped beard, when the judge asked if he wanted his current attorneys. The tribunal system set up by the Bush administration following the September 11 attacks, has yet to bring any of the men held at the US Navy base in southeast Cuba to trial. One detainee, an Australian, was convicted in March in a pretrial plea bargain. The case against Omar Khadr, a Canadian who was 15 when he was captured in 2002, presents a new hurdle for the military as it attempts to try him on charges including murder, conspiracy and spying. Even before Khadr, who is now 21, can enter a plea the judge must resolve the issue of whether he can even legally stand trial here. In June, a military judge dismissed charges against Khadr because, according to legislation passed by Congress and signed into law by President Bush last year, only "unlawful enemy combatants" can be tried by the military commissions. Khadr was previously identified by a military panel as an enemy combatant, without the critical "unlawful" designation. A hastily appointed military appeals court said this summer that the judge can decide whether to add the "unlawful" to Khadr's status, and thus subject him to a commission trial. In order to gain that designation, law professor David Scheffer of Northwestern University said prosecutors ought to present evidence that Khadr violated laws of war and does not qualify for prisoner-of-war status under the Geneva Conventions. "That should be a very high bar to jump for the prosecutor if this proceeding is to be regarded as one following international standards or due process," said Scheffer, a former ambassador-at-large for war crimes issues under the Clinton administration. Defence lawyers predict other bumps in the road in a system that has never been tested and that critics say was hastily slapped together after the Supreme Court last year declared the previous system unconstitutional. The judge, Army Colonel Peter Brownback, refused to say under questioning from the lead defence attorney, Navy lieutenant Commander William Kuebler, whether he believed the system complied with US and international law. "My answer is move on," Brownback said after Kuebler repeated the question. The military has said it plans to prosecute as many as 80 of the 320 men held at Guantanamo. Now cut off from the Elder Brain, Clarota burns with hatred for this Kvarn, and wishes to free the Illithid race from the usurping entity. In order to do so, the Vox Machina must proceed further into the deep, and reach the center of Clarota’s hive. But in order for the heroes of Emon to reach the Illithid city in the belly of Khaloor, they must get past the first flayer they encountered, as well as its small army of Duergar. My DIY Folding "Hidden Majestic Queen" Murphy Bed and Desk
Finally finished! The instructions used were those of HiddenBed USA's Majestic Queen (hiddenbedusa.com). Will upload new video once I have automated it. Please leave any comments or feedback! Enjoy! Commenters have asked for the following: Approx cost: TOTAL = ~$879 Mechanism Kit - $389 High Quality Plywood (4 sheets) - ~$300 Low Quality Plywood (1 sheet) - ~$40 Extra wood not called for in plans to stabilize bed - ~$50 Glue, stain, screws, etc. = $100 Comfort - for the most part extremely comfortable, but the bed is a little high off the ground for my tastes. May modify this in the future/in a second build. Desk is a little high too, but I like that. Ease of assembly - NOT easy. Can be done MAYBE in 3 weeks with a workshop if you are working on it all weekends and after work every day. As for me, because I don't have a workshop and had to haul everything from my living room to my backyard and back every time i worked on it, as well as not being able to work on it most weekends, took me about 2 months. But rewarding. Beats the hell out of paying $3500 for a Murphy Bed elsewhere (and most don't have the desk that stays level) Key pieces of advice that can save you months (yes, you read that correctly, i did this from october to january, and then an additional 4 weeks in the summer to make it look pretty, as you can see in the new link that is not yet up): 1) Get you lumber yard or hardware store to the big cuts for you. They're are always better equipped to handle this sort of thing, and lugging around 8'x4' sheets isn't fun for anyone 2) Finish your boards before you assemble them. This is an exercise in self discipline that i failed at miserably. Painting is hard, staining and varnishing is harder, and when the boards look nice, all you wanna do is throw them together. resist the temptation. you will thank me later. 3) clear your weekends. I was in a long distance relationship at the time, and that maybe set me back all in all about 1.5 of those 3 months. We are far less productive after work as we think we can be. 4) If you can help it, do not use veneered MDF. it is heavy, flexible, and not as strong. go with regular ply. for a nice exterior (B1 lumber or better) it will cost you, but having this bed fall apart twice as i built it sucked. see engineering issues with kit referenced above. 5) Have a work space. I built this in the back yard of my apartment building, but i kept the wood to avoid issues with weather and thieves, and i think i wasted about 1/5-1/4 of all build time lugging that crap outside, then back in again. 6) Enlist help wherever you can. It may feel like you lose credit for doing this if you do it with someone else, or that it might not be as fun, but even if someone had come over every time i worked on it, it still would have been my bed in the end and it still would have been a fun thing to do.

Putin Trump's New Security Strategy is Definitely Offensive YouTube
Vladimir Putin visited the Peter the Great Military Academy of the Strategic Missile Forces, where he took part in an annual expanded meeting of the Defence Ministry Board. Prior to the meeting, the President toured the Academy’s training and laboratory building and the training and research centre, and examined the Academy’s comprehensive development plan. The Peter the Great Military Academy of Strategic Missile Forces is one of the largest military training institutions of the Russian Armed Forces. The Academy trains commanding officers and military engineers, and conducts research in the main areas related to the Strategic Missile Forces. President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Comrades officers, Before I begin, I want to congratulate the Armed Forces, primarily, the Strategic Missile Forces, on such a remarkable new facility. It is not just a modern [facility], but a facility that makes it possible to train personnel and develop the sector in the broadest sense of this word according to the latest and most advanced standards. This is extremely important, and I want to thank the Defence Ministry’s senior officials for this. I would like to start also by expressing my gratitude to the servicemen who took part in the anti-terrorist operation in Syria, and I want to thank the entire Armed Forces personnel. The Defence Minister will report on this in more detail. I will only say the main thing, which is that in fighting international terrorism, an absolutely global threat, our soldiers and officers acted bravely, professionally and, importantly, effectively, demonstrated the qualitatively new modern capabilities of the Armed Forces of Russia and made, without any doubt or exaggeration, a decisive contribution to defeating the most capable group of international terrorists. You are aware that, in fact, it was more than just a group. It was an entire terrorist army, which was well organised, united, trained and armed, which directly threatened our country, and, admittedly, the entire world. In cooperation with the Syrian troops, Russian forces have liberated practically the entire Syrian territory from the gangs of militants, saved the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, preserved Syria’s statehood and opened opportunities for political settlement of its domestic conflict. The actions of our army and navy can only be described as excellent. We will always remember the feat of our comrades-in-arms who perished defending Russia and our people. Our human, moral and ethical duty is to support their families. The state and their fellow servicemen will do everything for this purpose. Please honour their memory with a minute of silence. (Minute of silence.)
