ACA story on contraceptive pills
The story from A Current Affair that just aired tonight on the dangers of some contraceptive pills, particularly those known as Yaz, Yasmin, Estelle, & Diane-35. This is very real. My partner is a non-smoker & has no family history of clotting. She took Yaz for over 3 years & got a very large clot under the skull which brought awful headaches. She was admitted to hospital & the doctor she saw is very aware of the evils of, particularly, Yaz, & was adamant that she should be off the drug immediately. Birth Control May Change Your Brain. STUDY
"Birth control pills have some troubling possible side effects, including altering a woman's mood and even her choice of romantic partner. A new study adds another potential concern to the list: Hormonal contraception may shrink portions of the brain and affect their function. It's possible that the synthetic hormones found in the Pill -- and possibly the suppression of natural hormones that occurs when women are using the Pill -- cause these alterations in brain structure and function, according to a new study publishedin the journal Human Brain Mapping. In a study conducted on 90 women, neuroscientists at UCLA found that two key brain regions, the lateral orbitofrontal cortex and the posterior cigulate cortex, were thinner in women who used oral contraception than in women who did not." Benefits Of Birth Control Are Surprising & Numerous
Join #FOWLERNATION!! http://bit.ly/SubscribeFowlerNation Reliable, female-controlled contraception, such as the birth control pill and IUDs, is easier than ever to get. Obamacare mandates that your insurance cover it without a copay, and over-the-counter access to emergency contraception has been steadily improving. (The Food and Drug Administration just ruled in favor of putting generic emergency contraception out on shelves, which will help lower the price.) So it's no wonder, then, that there's been an uptick in misinformation and scare-mongering about contraception, and not just from conservatives who claim to believe, against medical evidence, that the pill and the IUD are tantamount to abortion. There's also been a wave of self-identified feminists attacking hormonal contraception by portraying it as far more dangerous than it is and making it sound like taking the pill gets you only a horror show of every negative side effect under the sun. Now even Ricki Lake is getting involved, making a documentary out of Holly Grigg-Spall's poorly argued anti-pill scare book, Sweetening the Pill, which Lindsay Beyerstein thoroughly demolished on Slate last year. In response to all this, OB-GYN Jessica Kiley felt it was necessary to remind readers of Pacific Standard that there are many positive side effects (in addition to the main effect: contraception!) that women experience with the most controversial (which just happen to be the most female-controlled, in a remarkable coincidence) forms of contraception: lighter or nonexistent periods, reduced menstrual pain, reduced acne, and lower rates of ovarian and endometrial cancer. Of course, the contraceptive effects are great, too, as she emphasizes. Women who have effective contraception have healthier babies, because they choose when to get pregnant. They experience better life outcomes, too: "Birth control allows women to achieve education and career goals, benefiting their families and society." What Kiley fails to mention, however, is what I, a long-term pill user, can assure you is a wonderful side effect of this kind of contraception: It is great for your sex life. If you're in a monogamous and tested relationship, it means you can have sex whenever or wherever, without having to go hunting around for your condoms. If you're still playing the field, it makes sex with a condom more fun and more relaxed, since you're much less worried about what to do if the condom breaks. Easy access to emergency contraception has got to be a major worry-reducer for condom users, too. While pretty much everyone can see the benefit of fewer menstrual cramps, "more spontaneous sex" is a side effect that many of critics of the pill do not want to applaud. From the ostensible left, you have Grigg-Spall lamenting hormonal birth control for making women more "sexually available" to men, even though there's no reason to think women don't want sex to be available, too. From the right, of course, you have a full meltdown at the mere idea that women might have hassle-free sex, with conservatives using memorable language like "slut" and "prostitute" or warning women that no one is going to marry them if they stick with this plan of ovulating only when they want to. There's so much social anxiety around the idea of women enjoying sex that even condom companies shy away from talking about it. As long as that anxiety exists, reasonable discussion about the actual risks versus rewards of contraception use will remain elusive. 3 Steps To Join #FowlerNation! 1. In the (one-sided) conversation that follows, we learn some very interesting things about male anatomy.... THE PILL | My 5 1/2 Year Birth Control Experience (Diane-35)
• Why was I on it? - extreme pain, cystic acne, unwanted body hair • How long was I on it? - 5 1/2 years • How did it perform for what I took it? - no more period pain, very little acne, amount of unwanted hair the same • Unexpected positives? - I quit smoking, my breasts grew, my head hair got thick, my body shape went hourglass • Unexpected negatives? - extreme hunger/ cravings, extremely frequent UTI's, weight gain, looking puffy (breast had weird shape) severe mood swings, queasiness in the morning (felt pregnant), difficulty loosing weight, no more bleeding, no libido, no lubrication (uncomfortable painful when stimulated) / no sex drive that resulted in a change in personality: not taking care of myself in how I dress how I look - sloppy unkempt • How did I quit? - water fasting • Had I planned on quitting? - was hesitant because of period pain returning but knew I had to stop taking them and everybody kept telling me how bad they are for my liver (pickling my liver nonalcoholic) • Period after quitting? - very light at 1st, very slight pain, got a bit more intense over the following months, also vegan changes • How long did it take for the pill to leave my system completely? - 4 to 5 months • Unexpected positives after quitting? - Immediate ease in wright loss, breasts looking normal, felt like myself again (no more foggy brain), libido back, taking care of myself, no mood swings • Unexpected negatives? - my hair fell out (bald patches, clumps of hair in the bath, hair brush), acne came back with a vengeance ( rarely cystic but more of it) • Things that I was fearing and didn't happen? - that the pain would come back, that my boobs would completely deflate, that I would grow a mustache and manly hair all over, and the fact that I might have to go back on them and have to take them the rest of my life • Final thoughts? - I don't regret taking the pills, it did help me quit smoking, I do have a more feminine figure, maybe it helped with the pain and cystic acne long term, but all in all I wouldn't want to be on them again. Birth Control is Making Us CRAZY! We're being LIED to!
Birth Control CAN BE SO DAMAGING TO OUR BEAUTIFUL BODIES! But, what to do instead? I finally have assembled solutions that I share in our Warrior Tribe and in these articles: COPPER IUD & ORAL CONTRACEPTIVE USE HORMONE HEALING: https://dianekazer.com/Are-you-Copper-Toxic-80-percent-of-Women-Suffer JOIN OUR FREE FACEBOOK GROUP to get help on NATURAL solutions, such as detox'ing from birth control: http://bitly.com/thewarriorcleansetribe In this video, Orange County Nutritionist Diane Kazer discusses her story on how Birth Control has destroyed her body and how stopping it gave her, her life back! Here's her story on her struggle from BC pills to Copper IUD and the 6 pounds and 1.5% body fat she lost, 3 days after having her IUD removed. Supporting theory from top medical researchers: Copper is a toxic heavy metal when it is free and unbound, such as in the form of IUDs. When copper is not bound to carrier proteins such as ceruloplasmin, it is very toxic. This is extremely well documented. There are plenty of women on this forum who have personal experiences with Copper IUDs. Not only can copper increase toxicity, copper is dopaminergic and will increase the excitatory neurotransmitter norepinephrine. There is a close relationship between copper and estrogen, and copper and candida. Unfortunately, there are not too many studies that look at copper toxicity induced by IUDs. But using a logic-based and evidence-based analysis, if copper is a known free radical-generating heavy metal in a free, unbound state, why WOULDN'T copper IUD's be potentially toxic? This type of inquiry separates the scientists from the dogmatists. It is a lack of scientific inquiry that leads to the ridiculous assumption that mercury in amalgams is safe, and so is aluminum and mercury in vaccines. If something is a known toxin, why wouldn't that be a potential problem? Sometimes you have to ask the most obvious questions. Furthermore I'll add something important: just because someone doesn't have a bad reaction to something like a copper IUD doesn't make it safe. If you think its good to have a toxic element in your body, that's like saying: "I have a mouth full of amalgams but I don't have Alzheimer's. I guess its safe". The question to ask is: will this toxic element effect my health in some way, either now or in the future? Will having a known toxic element in my system become a problem for me? And is this decision I am about to make to have it put in worth the risks? Unfortunately, most people don't ask basic but important questions such as this because A) they are uninformed B) They have an authority figure complex, meaning that they do whatever they are told by someone whom they believe is superior. So instead, educate, learn, research and make highly informed decisions. 4. A Nation? Peasants, Language, and French Identity
France Since 1871 (HIST 276) The problematic question of when people in France began to consider themselves part of a French nation, with a specifically French national identity, has often been explained in terms of the modernizing progress of the French language at the expense of regional dialects. In fact, the development of French identity in rural France can be seen to have taken place alongside a continued tradition of local cultural practices, particularly in the form of patois. French identity must be understood in terms of the relationship between the official discourse of the metropolitan center and the unique practices of the country's regions, rather than in terms of the unambiguous triumph of the former over the latter. 00:00 - Chapter 1. DIANE 35 Thailand (via FACEBOOK LIVE)
Diane 35 for 500 pesos only 3 Boxes and up for 450 pesos each only (Mercury Drug Price= 750) MANUFACTURED IN BRAZIL IMPORTED IN THAILAND 21pills/banig (1month cycle) Diane 35 is an oral birth control medication which is also used to treat acne. There are several side effects associated with the use of this pill. It is important to consult with your physician concerning the risks and also report any form of side effects immediately. This birth control pill is available in Europe, Asia and Canada. It is not available in the United States. What are the uses of the pills? What are the possible side effects? **What Are the Uses of Diane 35? The Diane 35 pills can be used for the following: Pregnancy prevention Treating symptoms associated with PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) in women who prefer using oral contraception methods Treatment of moderate acne in women above the age of 14 For women who experience painful, heavy and irregular periods **How does Diane 35 Work? Diane 35 pills are classified as oral contraceptives. This is a daily hormone intake that makes the body think that ovulation has begun. This ensures that eggs in the ovaries do not mature preventing them from being released each month. The hormones also thicken the mucus on the walls of the womb making it hard for sperm to cross to the womb for fertilization. The Diane 35 pills also make the lining of the uterus unsuitable for implantation of the egg in case fertilization occurs. **How Should You Take Diane 35 Pills? It is advisable to have a pill of Diane 35 every day with a glass of water. Make sure you take the medication at the same time each day. Each Diane 35 pills pack has 21 pills for 21 days every month. You are then allowed seven days off before you can begin taking the pills again. These seven days are the time you should have your menses. You are required to begin taking the pills on the eighth day even if you are still on your period. In case you experience diarrhea or vomiting within 4 hours of taking the pill, treat this as a missed dose. Use emergency contraceptive methods for the following seven days. The Diane 35 pills should be taken on a continuous basis for effectiveness. If Diane 35 pills are used for treatment of hirsutism or acne, you may have to take the pills for several months before the condition clears. Avoid using an additional contraception pills. This exposes you to over-dose of hormones. **How Long Should You Take Diane 35 Pills? It is important that you take the Diane 35 pills for as long as it is recommended by the doctor for effective contraception method or acne treatment. After a few months, the acne will disappear. However, for severe acne, you may be required to take the pills for longer. Even after the acne has healed, you may have to remain under the pill for a few more months. After these months have lapsed, you will be required to start using another type of contraceptive pill. Contraception Museum
LeBron may be gone and the Cuyahoga River no longer catches on fire but Cleveland still has Dennis Kucinich, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and something that even most Clevelanders will find surprising, America's only contraception museum. Tucked away in the halls of the Dittrick Medical Center, right across the street from the home of the renowned Cleveland Orchestra, is a collection of beaver testicles, cat bones, crocodile dung, ear wax from a mule, spider and deer skin, Mexican yams, formaldehyde powder, Goodyear Tire rubbers, rhythm beads, seed wool, dates, honey, sponges, diaphragms, loops, pills and IUDs all displayed in a chronological tribute to the history of women's attempts to control their fertility for over a thousand years. Not all of the over 700 methods on display were effective. Cat bones, amulets and magic clearly weren't but "some of this stuff actually worked," said Meyer, pointing to the cabinets chock full of examples of early contraceptives. Even those that seem ridiculous today, such as the acacia infused Egyptian cotton seed tampon could have controlled fertility. Seeing the displays, it's impossible not to think about the countless women who have stories that they've buried throughout their lives. Sex has always been the perfect complement to Rock 'n' Roll so after a trip to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame take a tour of the Contraception Exhibit, "Virtue, Vice, and Contraband: A History of Contraception in America." It will make you appreciate modern science and all the women over the centuries who've paved the way for the many choices we have today.

France honors Holocaust survivor Simone Veil at the Pantheon | DW | 01.07.2018
French Holocaust survivor and women's rights icon Simone Veil was interred next to her husband at Paris's Pantheon monument on Sunday, an honor reserved for national heroes. The special memorial came one year after her death on June 30, 2017. "France loves Simone Veil and loves her for her struggles," President Emmanuel Macron said in a speech at the ceremony. "We wanted Simone Veil to enter the Pantheon without waiting for generations to pass so that her battles, her dignity and her hope remain a compass in these troubled times." Born Simone Jacob in 1927 in Nice, she was arrested by the Gestapo in March 1944 and deported to Auschwitz at the age of 16. After the camp was liberated, she returned to France to study law.  Auschwitz color photo: 'A 14-year-old girl, not just a statistic' In 1946 she married Antoine Veil with whom she had two sons. She went on to have a distinguished political career in France, becoming the first female general secretary of the High Council of the Magistrature in 1970. As Minister of Health from 1974-1979, she was a crusader for women, helping in the legalization of abortion and the sale of birth control pills. She was a member of the European Parliament from 1979-1993, during which time she was awarded with Germany's prestigious Charlemagne Prize, awarded for work done to the service of European unification. Veil is now one of only a handful of women laid to rest at the Pantheon, including the groundbreaking scientist Marie Curie and the anti-Nazi resistance fighters Germaine TillionGermaine Tillion and Genevieve de Gaulle-Anthonioz. She was laid to rest alongside her husband, who died in 2013. 'Never Again': Memorials of terror Wannsee House The villa on Berlin's Wannsee lake was pivotal in planning the Holocaust. Fifteen members of the Nazi government and the SS Schutzstaffel met here on January 20, 1942 to plan what became known as the "Final Solution," the deportation and extermination of all Jews in German-occupied territory. In 1992, the villa where the Wannsee Conference was held was turned into a memorial and museum. 'Never Again': Memorials of terror Dachau The Nazi regime opened the first concentration camp in Dauchau, not far from Munich. Just a few weeks after Adolf Hitler came to power it was used by the paramilitary SS "Schutzstaffel" to imprison, torture and kill political opponents to the regime. Dachau also served as a prototype and model for the other Nazi camps that followed. 'Never Again': Memorials of terror Nazi party rally grounds Nuremberg hosted the biggest Nazi party propaganda rallies from 1933 until the start of the Second World War. The annual Nazi party congress as well as rallies with as many as 200,000 participants took place on the 11-km² (4.25 square miles) area. Today, the unfinished Congress Hall building serves as a documentation center and a museum. Geoffrey Stone, "When Contraception Was a Crime"
Geoffrey Stone (Edward H. Levi Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago Law School) explores the history of laws against contraception, including discussion of those who struggled against those laws, how the tide turned, and what role the courts played in that process. This talk was recorded on February 19, 2013, as part of the Chicago's Best Ideas lecture series.
