😧 Warning Signs And Symptoms Of Cervical Cancer | How to Know If You Have Cervical Cancer

05:22
Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers in women worldwide. It occurs in the cells of the cervix, the lower part of the uterus that connects to the vagina. Please watch this video until the end to know the complete information. The American Cancer Society estimates that about 12,900 new cases of cervical cancer will be diagnosed and about 4,100 women will die from this disease in 2017. These estimations are shocking but true. Almost all cases of cervical cancer are caused by a virus called human papillomavirus (HPV). Women of all ages are at risk of developing this cancer after they begin having sexual intercourse. Risk factors include unsafe sex, multiple sex partners, being overweight, use of oral contraceptives, genetics, smoking, poor immunity, multiple pregnancies and first pregnancy at a young age. Being an adult woman, if you notice any unusual changes or symptoms affecting your reproductive organs, consult your doctor. This is what might happen, if you have cervical cancer. 1. Abnormal Vaginal Bleeding. Most women diagnosed with cervical cancer experience irregular bleeding. An untimely bout of vaginal bleeding that occurs regularly could be an indicator of cervical cancer. It could also be due to other medical conditions, such as a hormonal imbalance, pelvic inflammatory disease or an infection in the pelvic organs. As cancer spreads to nearby tissues, it creates new, abnormal capillaries that break easily and cause bleeding. Such bleeding may happen between menstrual periods, after sexual intercourse, after menopause and even after a pelvic exam. 2. Unusual Vaginal Discharge. A little bit of clear, odorless vaginal discharge is normal. However, if vaginal discharge increases, smells foul or has an irregular appearance, it could be a sign of infection or cervical or endometrial cancer. When suffering from cervical cancer, vaginal discharge could be heavy, pale, watery, brown or mixed with blood. 3. Pain during Intercourse. Painful intercourse is another important warning sign of cervical cancer. This symptom indicates advanced cervical cancer, which means the cancer has spread throughout tissues and reproductive organs. Apart from pain, you may also experience other symptoms, such as thick, foul-smelling vaginal discharge. There are other possible reasons for this particular problem, such as an infection or STD. 4. Pelvic Pain. Pelvic pain is common among women. Cramping and aches are a normal part of the menstrual cycle and do not usually indicate the presence of cancer or any other serious condition. However, pain that lasts for longer periods of time and occurs more frequently could be a sign of cervical cancer. If suffering from cervical cancer, you may experience pelvic pain at unusual times, and the pain may start suddenly at any time during the month. In addition, such pain usually does not occur unless the cancer is in a very advanced stage. 5. Discomfort while Urinating. Cervical cancer can also cause discomfort during urination. In fact, it is one of the most obvious and prevalent symptoms of this deadly disease. Urinary discomforts include burning, stinging or a tight sensation while urinating. Such symptoms occur when the cancer has spread to nearby tissue. This requires immediate attention to prevent further damage. However, urinary discomforts also can be due to other causes, such as a urinary tract infection, bladder problem, yeast infection or sexually transmitted disease (STD). 6. Heavier and Longer Menstrual Periods. Menstrual periods that are heavier and longer than normal are another common warning sign of cervical cancer. Irritation of the cervix, possibly due to spread of cervical cancer, can cause this problem. Bleeding is considered heavy if you have to change sanitary napkins or tampons more often than once every 2 hours. Apart from cancer, heavy bleeding can be due to a hormonal imbalance, fibroids, polyps, pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis or thyroid, liver or kidney disease. It can even happen due to certain medications. Any change in the consistency of monthly periods should be discussed with your doctor. Remember that prevention is better than the cure. Do not ignore any of these symptoms and Get your cervix examined by your doctor. Thanks for watching. Vaginal cancer #types of vaginal cancer#Symptoms#Treatment#Risk factors

01:52
Vaginal cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the vagina. Vaginal cancer is not common. When found in early stages, it can often be cured. There are two main types of vaginal cancer: squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. Risk factors for vaginal cancer include being aged 60 or older, being exposed to DES while in the mother's womb, human papilloma virus (HPV) infection, and having a history of abnormal cells in the cervix or cervical cancer. Symptoms of vaginal cancer include bleeding or discharge not related to menstrual periods, pain during sexual intercourse, pain in the pelvic area, and a lump in the vagina. To diagnose vaginal cancer, a doctor may do a pelvic exam, pap smear, biopsy, or colposcopy. Treatment for vaginal cancer includes surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. The prognosis depends on the stage of the cancer and whether it has spread, the size of the tumor, the grade of tumor cells, where the cancer is within the vagina, whether there are symptoms, the patient's age and general health, and whether the cancer has just been diagnosed or has recurred. What is vaginal cancer? Vaginal cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the vagina. The vagina is the canal leading from the cervix (the opening of uterus) to the outside of the body. At birth, a baby passes out of the body through the vagina (also called the birth canal). Vaginal cancer is not common. When found in early stages, it can often be cured. There are two main types of vaginal cancer: Squamous cell carcinoma: Cancer that forms in squamous cells, the thin, flat cells lining the vagina. Squamous cell vaginal cancer spreads slowly and usually stays near the vagina, but may spread to the lungs and liver. This is the most common type of vaginal cancer. It is found most often in women aged 60 or older. Adenocarcinoma: Cancer that begins in glandular cells. Glandular cells in the lining of the vagina make and release fluids such as mucus. Adenocarcinoma is more likely than squamous cell cancer to spread to the lungs and lymph nodes. It is found most often in women aged 30 or younger.

7 Cervical Cancer Symptoms You Should Absolutely Never Ignore

06:06
7 Cervical Cancer Symptoms You Should Absolutely Never Ignore The stirrups... the speculum... the jelly that your gyno never seems to get totally cleaned up. Yeah, Paps are a (somewhat literal) pain, but cervical cancer was once the number-one leading cause of cancer death in American, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Now, thanks to Paps, which can ID issues before they become cancerous, it doesn't even crack the top 10. Still, the American Cancer Society estimates that 13,240 new cases of invasive cervical cancer will be diagnosed in 2018—31 percent of which will be fatal. And the CDC reports that six out of every 10 cervical cancers occur in women who have never received a Pap test or have not been tested in the past five years. (FYI, all women between the ages of 21 and 65 years old should be getting a Pap smear every three years from 21 to 30, and every five years from 30 to 65, according to the CDC.) “In fact, one of the biggest risk factors of getting cervical cancer is not having had a Pap smear within the past five years," says Eloise Chapman-Davis, M.D., a gynecological oncologist at Weill Cornell Medicine and New York-Presbyterian. However, she notes that you shouldn’t just rely on a Pap to flag any issues. It's also important to watch out for cervical cancer symptoms, which can develop in cases of more developed cancer growths. Translation: If you spot any symptoms of cervical cancer, it's worth talking to your gyno and getting checked out asap. 1. Totally Not-Normal Vaginal Bleeding “One of the most common symptoms of cervical cancer is vaginal bleeding, whether it’s in between your periods, after sex, or after menopause,” says Taraneh Shirazian, M.D., a gynecologist at NYU Langone Health. Abnormal vaginal bleeding is generally a symptom of advanced cervical cancer, because it means that a tumor on the cervix is spreading to affect nearby tissue, Chapman-Davis adds. Call your gyno asap. 2. Periods That Are Heavy AF This isn’t about your period lasting a day longer or suddenly seeming a bit darker. “Rather, it’s your period all of sudden lasting two weeks instead of four days, or having two periods in one month,” says Shirazian. But to play it safe, it you have any changes in your cycle that last for at least two cycles (heavier, lighter, whatever!), it's worth talking to your gynecologist, she says. 3. WTF-Worthy Vaginal Discharge Discharge is totally normal, but the type of discharge you experience could be an indicator of a number of different vaginal health issues. “With cervical cancer, you might notice a discharge that’s foul-smelling and pink, brown, or bloody, potentially with chunks of tissue, or what we call necrotic material,” says Shirazian. And because “masses and tumors secrete fluid, that could contribute to a continuous, watery discharge that seems to occur for no reason,” says Chapman-Davis. Go ahead and give your gyno a call. 4. Pelvic, Back, or Leg Pain Pelvic pain could be an indicator of changes to the cervix, but advanced cervical cancer can even spread to the bladder, intestines, or even the lungs and liver, says Chapman-Davis. “Then you might have things like back pain or leg pain,” she says. “But that’s typically associated with very advanced cases because the cervix isn’t really affecting a lot of nerves.” Talk to your primary care doc to rule out cervical cancer as well as other potential nerve causes. 5. Major Fatigue Because most cervical cancer symptoms don’t come along until it enters more advanced stages, it does share some symptoms with all cancers. "Fatigue is definitely one of those symptoms," says Shirazian. One reason why: Abnormal vaginal bleeding, one of the major symptoms of cervical cancer, can actually lower the amount of red blood cells and oxygen in the body, causing you to feel utterly exhausted all the time, usually with no other explanation. If you are dealing with chronic fatigue, your doctor will likely check your iron and red blood cell levels. check out these five signs 6. Feeling Like You're Going To Barf—All The Time 7. Warning Signs of Cervical Cancer | Signs and Symptoms of Cervical Cancer | Top 8

Warning Signs of Cervical Cancer | Signs and Symptoms of Cervical Cancer | Top 8 Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers in women over the globe. It occurs in the cells of the cervix, the lower part of the uterus that connects to the vagina. One of the scariest things about this cancer is that it does not show any symptoms in its early stages. Here in this video you will know about top 8 signs of cervical cancer 1. Pelvic Pain Pelvic pain is common among women. Cramping and aches are a normal part of the menstrual cycle and do not usually indicate the presence of cancer or any other serious condition. However, pain that lasts for longer periods of time and occurs more frequently could be a sign of cervical cancer. 2. Irregular Vaginal Bleeding Most women diagnosed with cervical cancer experience irregular bleeding. An untimely bout of vaginal bleeding that occurs regularly could be an indicator of cervical cancer. It could also be due to other medical conditions, such as a hormonal imbalance, pelvic inflammatory disease or an infection in the pelvic organs. 3. Difficult Urinating Cervical cancer can also cause discomfort during urination. In fact, it is one of the most obvious and prevalent symptoms of this deadly disease. Urinary discomforts include burning, stinging or a tight sensation while urinating. 4. Extensive Vaginal Discharge A little bit of clear, odorless vaginal discharge is normal. However, if vaginal discharge increases, smells foul or has an irregular appearance, it could be a sign of infection or cervical or endometrial cancer. 5. Weight Loss As with other forms of cancer, unexplained weight loss can indicate cervical cancer. When suffering from cancer, the immune system works hard to fight it. The body produces small proteins called cytokines, which break down fat at a much higher rate than normal. This leads to weight loss, irrespective of your diet. 6. Painful Intercourse Painful intercourse is another important warning sign of cervical cancer. This symptom indicates advanced cervical cancer, which means the cancer has spread throughout tissues and reproductive organs. 7. Less Bladder Control Needing frequent bathroom breaks is common among pregnant women and people who have increased their fluid intake. If you have this problem without any known reason, it may need further evaluation. 8. Heavy and Long Menstrual Periods Menstrual periods that are heavier and longer than normal are another common warning sign of cervical cancer. Irritation of the cervix, possibly due to spread of cervical cancer, can cause this problem. It is one of the most common types of cancer in women worldwide, but also one of the most preventable, thanks to early detection with Pap tests. The cervix has 2 major cell types: flat squamous cells lining the outer part, and column-shaped glandular cells covering the inside of the cervical canal. Both types can become cancerous but squamous cell carcinomas are MUCH more common. Cancer usually starts in the zone where the two cell types meet, known as the transformation zone. Virtually all cervical cancers are caused by human papillomaviruses, or HPVs. There are over a hundred different types of HPV, some of which pose HIGHER risks than others. About 70% of all cases are caused by just TWO types: HPV-16 and HPV-18. Two proteins produced by HPV, known as E6 and E7, INTERFERE with cell functions that normally PREVENT EXCESSIVE cell division. This causes the cells to grow in an UNcontrolled manner. HPV is sexually transmitted and is VERY common, but in most women, HPV infections resolve on their own and do NOT cause cancers. Factors that may INcrease the risk of PERSISTENT HPV infections include WEAKENED immune system, other sexually transmitted diseases and smoking. Chances of developing cervical cancer also increase with having many children and LONG-term use of birth control pills. Early-stage cervical cancer generally produces NO symptoms. Advanced-stage disease may cause ABnormal or IRregular vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain, or unusual vaginal discharge. EARLY detection is the key to prevent cervical cancer. Cervical cancer screening may include pap tests ALONE, or in combination with HPV DNA tests. In a pap test, cells are scraped from the cervix and examined for PRE-cancerous changes, known as cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, or cervical DYSPLASIA. These morphological changes can range from mild to severe. If the results are ABnormal, the test is repeated again after 6 months or a year to MONITOR the condition. Additional diagnostic tests may also be performed. In most cases, MILD dysplasia resolves on its own and a follow-up pap test is all that is required to confirm. In a small number of cases, these ABnormal cells may develop into cancer, but they usually take YEARS to do so, which allows plenty of time for treatment when detected early. In the US, a pap test is recommended every 3 years, from the age of 21, or every 5 years if combined with an HPV test. Treatment options for cervical cancer include surgery, radiation, chemotherapy or a combination of these. Early-stage cervical cancer is typically treated with surgical removal of the uterus. This option is the most effective in preventing cancer from coming back and is usually preferred when patients do NOT need to maintain fertility.

6 Subtle Signs Of Cervical Cancer Every Woman Should Know

04:52
6 Subtle Signs Of Cervical Cancer Every Woman Should Know For most cervical cancer sufferers, the first sign of the disease isn't an odd pain or unusual sensation. It's an abnormal Pap test. "At the early stages, there really are no symptoms," says Matthew Anderson, MD, PhD, an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. And as is the case with most cancers, the early stages are also the time when treatment outcomes are rosiest. That's why both the CDC and the American Cancer Society recommend that all women start undergoing regular Pap tests at age 21. (Here are the top 10 cancer symptoms most people ignore.) If that Pap test turns up abnormal cells—sometimes referred to as "pre-cancer"—or other signs of the disease, Anderson says treatment usually involves a hysterectomy. That surgery tends to be very successful, he says. On the other hand, if you're noticing symptoms, your cancer may be fairly advanced. "A cure is still possible at that stage, but it's a lot more complex," Anderson says. That cure will probably involve radiation or chemotherapy, and the outcomes are less certain, he says. 1.Abnormal bleeding Unusual vaginal bleeding is the symptom most strongly linked to cervical cancer, says Joshua Cohen, MD, a gynecologic oncologist at UCLA. "This could be bleeding after intercourse or between periods," he says. Heavier-than-normal periods or bleeding after menopause are also potential signs of cervical cancer, according to the American Cancer Society. 2.Pelvic pain Along with abnormal bleeding, Anderson refers to pelvic pain as "one of the biggies." He says the pain could be diffuse, or it could show up in any area of your pelvis. It could also range from a sharp pain to a dull ache. Especially if the pain is new or doesn't seem related to your menstrual cycle, you'll want to let your doctor know about it, Anderson says. Pain during sex or urination are also warning signs. (Heal your whole body with the Doctors Book of Natural Healing Remedies.) 3.Strange discharge A cloudy, foul-smelling discharge is also a potential red flag, Anderson says. "[The discharge] could also be watery," he adds. Of course, there are many causes of abnormal vaginal discharge that have nothing to do with cancer. So don't freak out. Just talk with your doc. 4.Fatigue Anderson says you can add cervical cancer to the long list of health issues that could make you feel fatigued or sluggish. "This isn't the first symptom I'd look for, but it could be present." 5.Changes to bowel movements Peeing often or feeling like you always have to go are symptoms associated with the disease, Cohen says. So are persistent changes in the quality of your poop. Cohen says the emphasis here—and with all of these symptoms, save bleeding—is on the word "persistent." He says experiencing these symptoms for less than a week isn't anything to worry about. But if they stick around or become worse, it's time to see someone. 6.You smoke (or used to smoke) Yes, this is a risk factor, not a symptom. But smokers and former smokers should know their tobacco habit could roughly double their risk for the disease, per a study in the International Journal of Cancer. Anderson says all of the above symptoms—if caused by cervical cancer—are most likely to appear during your late 30s, 40s, or 50s. "We see cervical cancer in women as young as 20, and also much later in life, but the median age is mid-40s," he explains. The good news: You've no doubt heard there is now a vaccine that helps safeguard women from human papillomavirus (HPV), a common type of infection that causes nearly all cases of cervical cancer, per the CDC. As more and more young women are vaccinated, cases of cervical cancer (and other, less-common HPV cancers) should plummet. 7 Cervical Cancer Symptoms You Should Absolutely Never Ignore

05:53
Signs and Symptoms of Cervical Cancer

03:37
Dr. McDonald talks about some of the common symptoms of cervical cancer, such as abnormal bleeding. Watch the video to learn more. Matt McDonald, MD: A common question I am asked is what are the warning signs and symptoms of cervical cancer? And when thinking of cervical cancer, it's important to categorize that as precancer or precursor of a cancer called cervical dysplasia and cervical cancer. Cervical cancer in and of itself really the most common warning sign or symptom from that really is abnormal bleeding. Most importantly or what you'll read in a textbook is something called postcoital bleeding which is unforeseen or abnormal vaginal bleeding after sexual intercourse and that usually happens because the cervical cancerous cells are irritated during intercourse and they are friable and bleed easily when they are touched. So if a woman complains of abnormal bleeding after intercourse, they certainly should seek attention by their physician. Other warning signs that we see with cervical cancer are more indolent and insidious and what I mean by that is they really don't have any symptoms related to the GYN organs. At lot of times when we see patients come in with advanced cervical cancer, which is when we really don't want to catch patients, we have symptoms that really have to do with the kidneys not working or otherwise known as kidney failure that happens sometimes when the cervical cancer becomes so large that it will block the flow of urine from the kidney to the bladder and result in kidney failure and those patients come in with all kinds of symptoms of fatigue, nausea, etc., that really are symptoms related to the kidney failure not necessarily to the cervix. So our goal really is to catch women and find cervical cancer in its early stages. In the early stage symptoms usually have to do with this entity of postcoital bleeding. Alarmingly, though a lot of patients when they develop early cervical cancer like stage 1 and stage 2 have no symptoms not even the abnormal bleeding and so what we really try to do is catch cervical cancer before it exist and that is where we go from a screening standpoint in hopes of preventing cervical cancer and the most effective means of preventing cervical cancer is the Pap smear, and that requires regular visits to the gynecologist or your family practitioner, etc. That's the most effective means of preventing cervical cancer. Without Pap smears, we have no idea where our patent is in the continuum of cervical dysplasia and that's why in certain developing countries where Pap smear surveillance is not a regular part of a woman's life, cervical cancers still the leading cause of cancer related deaths in some women. In countries such as the United States, where cervical cancer screening with Pap smears is a regular event, we have done an enormous job at preventing cervical cancers. So that is the far the best most effective screening mechanisms, regular exams, and Pap smears. Learn more about Dr. McDonald: http://presbyteriangyncancer.org/?id=5013&sid=123

Vaginal Discharge After Hysterectomy

02:39
I need your advice on vaginal discharge after hysterectomy. It certainly shouldn’t include blood, since you can’t have a period anymore. I know any blood after a hysterectomy means something is broken, well bad. But I’ve heard there could be some. Brown vaginal discharge for a couple of weeks after a hysterectomy is normal. I thought it would only last a few days. The red bloody discharge as incisions heal is only a few days, while the brown dried blood can leak out over weeks. So even without a period, I have to wear maxi pads for another month or two. Don’t use tampons. I know, they recommended against that, even with the expected discharge. If you lift anything heavy in the six weeks afterward and get a rush of blood, get to the emergency room because you tore something. They gave me the same advice as when you have a kid – don’t lift anything heavier than a newborn. You can have bleeding because you tore things having sex too soon after the hysterectomy too. Let’s just say surgery and vaginal discharge like this are the exact opposite of the mood required for that to happen. Any spotting with a bad odor, though, is a reason to see a doctor. Even if it is a really bad yeast or bacterial infection, it needs to be treated. So the standard yeast infection with a beer smell is really bad right now. Yes. And a thick white curdish material coming out from an infection is also really bad. What other discharge should I be on the lookout for? Any thick yellow drainage is a possible infection of the surgical wound, so you need to see the doctor about that. Ditto if you can’t pee or poop. I’d certainly see a doctor about not being able to go to the bathroom. A warning sign is when it hurts to do so. They tell you to have laxatives and lots of fiber to reduce the straining down there. If it burns when you pee, that’s a urinary tract infection, but it could mean other bacteria are in the incisions. And green and yellow discharge from the vagina means there definitely is. So even though I can’t have kids, I still get a few more weeks of looking at the multi-colored diaper pad insert. You are supposed to talk to the doctor any time there is bleeding heavier than light spotting and any discharge that has a bad odor. If in doubt, ask the doc.
