What is HEPATITIS? What does HEPATITIS mean? HEPATITIS meaning, definition & explanation

01:41
What is HEPATITIS? What does HEPATITIS mean? HEPATITIS meaning, definition & explanation. Hepatitis is a disease of the liver characterized by the presence of inflammatory cells in the tissue of the organ. Hepatitis may occur without symptoms, but can lead to jaundice (a yellow discoloration of the skin, mucous membranes, and conjunctiva of the eyes), poor appetite, and fatigue. Depending on the cause, hepatitis can manifest either as an acute or as a chronic disease. Acute hepatitis can be self-limiting (resolving on its own), can progress to chronic hepatitis, or can cause acute liver failure in rare instances. Chronic hepatitis may have no symptoms, or may progress over time to fibrosis (scarring of the liver) and cirrhosis (chronic liver failure). Cirrhosis of the liver increases the risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma (a form of liver cancer). Worldwide, viral hepatitis is the most common cause, followed closely by alcoholic liver disease and non-alcoholic liver disease (NAFLD). Other less common causes of hepatitis include autoimmune diseases, ingestion of toxic substances, certain medications (such as paracetamol), some industrial organic solvents, and plants.

Therapeutic management of Hepatitis B - Dr. Ramakrishna Prasad

04:33
The therapy or treatment of hepatitis B infection is sometimes not straight forward. The affected person may experience multiple phases of the hepatitis B infection over his or her lifetime. There are some individuals who are in a phase called immune tolerant phase. These are typically younger individuals who have been exposed to the virus at a very young age typically by their mother at the time of birth. These individuals if their blood is checked for the level of the hepatitis B virus typically have very high level of the virus. However their liver functions or liver enzymes such as SGOT or SGPT also called as ASG and AST might be normal. Many times we watch them without necessarily starting any anti viral medications. In some other individuals their immune system reacts to the hepatitis B infection and these individuals are in a phase called the active phase. When we look at the liver enzyme levels they might be elevated or high. Many times one consider starting anti viral therapy to these individuals. The choice of the anti viral therapy it could be an injection in the form of pegylated interferon or oral tablets such as tenofovir or some other options are typically best taken in consultation with expertise in treating hepatitis. There are many individuals who are in a state of inactive phase. In these individuals the hepatitis virus levels might be low and their liver enzymes will be low. In these individuals we typically tend to watch or monitor. There are some individuals who might have hepatitis infection and might also have some complication of hepatitis B infection like cirrhosis or liver cancer or liver failure. These individuals are best managed by someone with expertise in managing hepatitis or a pathologist. There are some other individuals who are exposed to the virus who may spontaneously clear the hepatitis by their immune system. This is said to be spontaneous clearance. If you are one of the lucky individual you will not need any treatment.

Primary Adrenocortical Insufficiency - Endocrine pathology , Dr G Bhanu Prakash

09:49
Primary Adrenal Insufficiency Most cases of Addisons disease are caused by the gradual destruction of the adrenal cortex, the outer layer of the adrenal glands, by the body's own immune system. About 70 percent of reported cases of Addisons disease are due to autoimmune disorders, in which the immune system makes antibodies that attack the body's own tissues or organs and slowly destroy them. Adrenal insufficiency occurs when at least 90 percent of the adrenal cortex has been destroyed. As a result, often both glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid hormones are lacking. Sometimes only the adrenal gland is affected, as in idiopathic adrenal insufficiency; sometimes other glands also are affected, as in the polyendocrine deficiency syndrome. The polyendocrine deficiency syndrome is classified into two separate forms, referred to as type I and type II. Type I occurs in children, and adrenal insufficiency may be accompanied by underactive parathyroid glands, slow sexual development, pernicious anemia, chronic candida infections, chronic active hepatitis, and, in very rare cases, hair loss. Type II, often called Schmidts syndrome, usually afflicts young adults. Features of type II may include an underactive thyroid gland, slow sexual development, and diabetes mellitus. About 10 percent of patients with type II have vitiligo, or loss of pigment, on areas of the skin. Scientists think that the polyendocrine deficiency syndrome is inherited because frequently more than one family member tends to have one or more endocrine deficiencies. Tuberculosis (TB) accounts for about 20 percent of cases of primary adrenal insufficiency in developed countries. When adrenal insufficiency was first identified by Dr. Thomas Addison in 1849, TB was found at autopsy in 70 to 90 percent of cases. As the treatment for TB improved, however, the incidence of adrenal insufficiency due to TB of the adrenal glands has greatly decreased. Less common causes of primary adrenal insufficiency are chronic infections, mainly fungal infections; cancer cells spreading from other parts of the body to the adrenal glands; amyloidosis; and surgical removal of the adrenal glands. Each of these causes is discussed in more detail below.

Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and Epstein-Barr Virus

02:02
http://drhedberg.com/causes-hashimotos-thyroiditis/ Dr. Nikolas Hedberg, discusses all the different causes of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. Hashimoto’s Thyroid Disease is the most common autoimmune disease in the world. And it’s also the number cause of hypothyroidism in the world. One of the things about Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis is that conventional medicine doesn’t really recognize Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis as a major problem. This means that, if you have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, the treatment is going to be the same for you if you just have hypothyroidism and don’t have an autoimmune disease. So the treatment for hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis is going to be a prescription thyroid hormone. So it’s really important to find out why you have Hashimoto’s and what’s causing it. Dr. Hedberg put all the research together over many years of practice and all the research that he has done on thyroid disorders into a nice chart which shows you all the possible causes of Hashimoto’s thyroid disease. (See chart in the video.) The first cause he talks about is the Epstein-Barr virus. So autoimmune diseases can be caused by a variety of different things. But infections are a major cause and a major overlooked factor in autoimmune disease. So the Epstein-Barr virus is probably the most common infection that causes Hashimoto’s thyroid disease. The Epstein-Barr virus is the virus that causes mononucleosis, also known as the kissing disease. And genetically, some people have a really hard time controlling the Epstein-Barr virus throughout their life. So, for example, in Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, the research has shown that if we were to biopsy the thyroid gland and test the tissue for the Epstein-Barr virus, you would find extremely high concentrations of the Epstein-Barr virus in the thyroid gland of individuals who have Hashimoto’s. So if you have Hashimoto’s, the first thing you want to get tested for is Epstein-Barr virus and that’s done with a blood test. The next factor is iodine, a highly controversial topic, in not so much conventional medicine but in alternative medicine. Note For the Hearing Impaired: This video contains accurate Closed Captions. Leptin and the neural circuit regulation food intake and glucose metabolism

57:40
Leptin and the neural circuit regulation food intake and glucose metabolism Air date: Wednesday, January 11, 2017, 3:00:00 PM Category: WALS - Wednesday Afternoon Lectures Runtime: 00:57:39 Description: NIH Director’s Wednesday Afternoon Lecture Series The discovery of leptin has led to the elucidation of a robust physiologic system that maintains fat stores at a relatively constant level. Leptin is a peptide hormone secreted by adipose tissue in proportion to its mass. This hormone circulates in blood and acts on the hypothalamus to regulate food intake and energy expenditure. When fat mass falls, plasma leptin levels fall stimulating appetite and suppressing energy expenditure until fat mass is restored. When fat mass increases, leptin levels increase, suppressing appetite until weight is lost. By such a mechanism, total energy stores are stably maintained within a relatively narrow range. Recessive mutations in the leptin gene are associated with massive obesity in mice and some humans. Treatment with recombinant leptin markedly reduces food intake and body weight. The low leptin levels in patients with leptin mutations are also associated with multiple abnormalities including infertility, diabetes, and immune abnormalities all of which are corrected by leptin treatment. These findings have established important links between energy stores and many other physiologic systems and led to the use of leptin as a treatment for an increasing number of other human conditions including a subset of obesity, some forms of diabetes including lipodystrophy and hypothalamic amenorrhea, the cessation of menstruation seen in extremely thin women. Identification of a physiologic system that controls energy balance establishes a biologic basis for obesity. Recent studies have explored the relationship between leptin and the reward value of food. In addition, new methods for identifying neurons activated by leptin and other stimuli have been developed as have methods for noninvasively activating cells using radio waves. These new approaches are being applied to studies of the neural processes that control feeding, a complex motivational behavior. Underactive Thyroid Problems

03:56
Underactive Thyroid Problems Underactive thyroid problems are also known as low thyroid problems. As these names imply, low thyroid problems result from the underproduction of thyroid hormones. The medical name for a low thyroid condition is hypothyroidism. A hypoactive or underactive thyroid is often characterized by sluggishness or listlessness. Weight gain and irregular infrequent menstruation in women are also typical. Hashimoto's thyroiditis is an autoimmune disorder in which the body attacks and damages thyroid tissue, leading to lower hormone production. Underactive thyroid problems are especially dangerous for newborns and infants because they can lead to the mental retardation and stunted growth. In the United States, the thyroid levels of infants is usually checked soon after birth. If levels are low, treatment begins immediately. Underactive thyroid problems can usually be diagnosed with a simple blood test. Underactive thyroid causes Causes of underactive thyroid or hypothyroidism include: Loss of tissue When hypothyroidism is treated with radiation, tissue destruction may occur. Surgical removal of thyroid tissue can also cause hypothyroidism. Exposure to excessive amounts of iodine These can be found in cold and sinus medicines, certain heart medications, or a number of contrast dyes given before some X-rays. Lithium This drug is often used to treat manic-depression. But one of it's side effects may be underactive thyroid. Antithyroid antibodies People who have diabetes, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and chronic hepatitis may have antibodies that cause decreased thyroid hormone production. Congenital factors Hypothyroidism can appear at birth, but thanks to a nationwide infant screening program it is usually diagnosed and treated quickly. Thyroid hormone production deficiencies This condition usually results in a goiter, which is an enlargement of the thyroid gland itself. A goiter is often visible as swelling in the front of the neck. What are the symptoms of underactive thyroid The body requires a certain level of thyroid hormone production to maintain energy levels. Therefore, as mentioned previously, fatigue, sluggishness and a general lack of energy are typical symptoms of an underactive thyroid. Symptoms vary somewhat by age. Infants will experience constipation, poor feeding, excessive tiredness and irritabiility, and possibly jaundice (a yellowing of the skin and eyes). Symptoms in adults could include overwhelming fatigue unusual sensitivity to cold temperatures difficult bowel movements and constipation increased weight despite a lowered appetite dry skin loss of hair and changes in hair texture reduced cognitive and intellectual ability a hoarse voice puffiness around the eyes depression Treatment of underactive thyroid Generally speaking, treatment of underactive thyroid is relatively easy. Simply taking thyroid supplements, especially a thyroid hormone pill known as Levothyroxine once a day will relieve symptoms. Levothyroxine is a pure synthetic made in a laboratory and is formulated to be an exact replacement for a key hormone known as T4. It's important, of course, to determine a proper dosage. This can be done by working with your doctor. Following a thyroid diet plan will also help. Some patients will notice improvement in as little as a week or two, but it's often about a month before the patient begins to feel normal. Unfortunately, once underactive thyroid problems have begun, they often continue for the rest of the patient's life.

WARNING !!! 9 Early Signs of Liver Damage you must know

07:11
9 Early Signs of Liver Damage 1. Nausea and Vomiting Many people ignore nausea and vomiting as it is usually not considered to be a serious medical problem. If nausea and vomiting occur separately or together without any known reason, such as motion sickness, dizziness, a migraine, food poisoning, early pregnancy, anxiety and depression, it can be due to a kidney or liver problem. People suffering from liver damage often have a persistent feeling of nausea. This arises due to the liver’s diminished ability to process and eliminate toxins. Changes in metabolism and digestion also cause nausea and vomiting. Constant feelings of nausea or vomiting can wreak havoc on your health and should be investigated thoroughly by a doctor. 2. General Weakness and Tiredness Constant feeling of fatigue and tiredness can also be a tell-tale sign of improper liver functioning. It is the liver that breaks down food to release energy required for performing daily tasks. When the liver is not in good condition, your body needs to work harder in order to survive and hence needs more rest. Plus, fatigue and weakness are likely to worsen due to an increase in toxic products in the blood, which the damaged liver is not able to eliminate properly. If the feelings of weakness and tiredness are present along with any other symptoms mentioned in this article, consult your doctor for a diagnosis. 3. Loss of Appetite Loss of appetite is also one of the early signs that your liver is not working properly. If you experience loss of appetite along with any other symptoms mentioned here, make an appointment with your doctor immediately as it could be a sign of chronic liver disease, hepatitis or kidney failure. People with liver damage may not feel like eating anything, due to the problem with bile production. Bile helps break down fats so that they can be digested. When food is not digested properly, it often leads to loss of appetite and even severe weight loss. Significant changes in appetite can also make a person weak and tired, which can further hinder recovery. 4. Digestive Issues The liver plays an active role in the digestion process through the production of bile. Bile helps process the nutrients absorbed from the small intestine and plays an important role in digesting fat. Thus, if the liver begins to malfunction, it can result in digestive problems like diarrhea and indigestion. Abnormalities in bile production can also lead to gallstones, abdominal bloating, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome and intolerance to fatty foods and alcohol. When the damage is severe, it can cause severe abdominal pain that often sends people to the doctor. 5. Fluid Retention Early liver damage can also lead to fluid retention that causes swelling in the feet and ankles. This is also related to ascites and portal hypertention. Also, liver damage affects liver function and causes changes in the secretion of fluid-regulation chemicals. Other possible causes of fluid retention are a hormonal imbalance in the body, kidney-related problems, heart disease and a problem with the lymphatic system. Hence, it is important to consult a doctor for proper diagnosis. 6. Changes in Urine Color If you are drinking enough fluid and your urine has a darker color, it may be an indication of a liver problem. Dark-colored urine can look orange, amber or brown. The change in urine color occurs due to an increased level of bilirubin in the bloodstream. This happens when the liver is unable to eliminate bilirubin via excretion through the kidneys. 7. Changes in Stool Color Changes in stool color may also indicate liver trouble. A well-functioning liver releases bile into the stool, giving it the normal brown color. 8. Yellowing of Skin One of the early signs of liver damage is jaundice, where yellowing of the skin, eyes, tongue and fingernails or fingertips is noticeable. Jaundice is caused by a buildup of bilirubin in the blood and body tissue that the liver normally would get rid of along with old red blood cells. Bilirubin is a yellow pigment that is formed by the breakdown of dead red blood cells in the liver. 9. Changes in the Abdominal Area Changes in the abdominal area is another possible sign of a malfunctioning liver. You may experience pain or cramping in the lower abdominal area as well as swelling. This can quickly lead to the feeling of bloating. Medically, these symptoms relate to the problem known as ascites. 7 Foods That Cure Thyroid Problems naturally

7 Foods That Cure Thyroid Problems naturally. Hypothyroidism, also known as underactive thyroid or low thyroid, refers to a condition in which the thyroid gland is not able to make enough hormones to keep the body running normally. While you cannot control hereditary and some environmental factors, you can still lower your risk of an underactive thyroid by making healthy diet and lifestyle choices. A well-planned diet can help prevent many cancers. To treat your underactive thyroid, medications are needed. Treatment of hypothyroidism with synthetic thyroid hormones is a simple, safe and effective option. However, certain foods can also help improve thyroid health and boost the effectiveness of your metabolism. Here's a list of some of the best foods and herbs to eat if your goal is to prevent and cure an underactive thyroid. 01:02 Brazil Nuts. 02:05 Coconut Oil. 03:09 Yogurt 04:07 Salmon 05:06 Seaweed Selenium is an important mineral for proper thyroid functioning. It protects the thyroid from inflammatory by products of hormone production. A 2015 study published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism notes that low selenium is associated with increased risk of thyroid disease. Moreover, increased selenium intake may reduce this risk. Coconut oil contains healthy medium-chain fatty acids that help people suffering from hypothyroidism. These fatty acids stimulate thyroid hormone production as well as keep the gland functioning normally. Yogurt is also good for your thyroid health, due to its high vitamin D content. In fact, vitamin D deficiency is linked to Hashimoto’s disease, one of the most common causes of hypothyroidism. A 2013 study published in Endocrine Practice reports that vitamin D has a potential role in development of Hashimoto’s disease and/or its progression to hypothyroidism. Salmon is one of the best fish that you can eat for your thyroid health and metabolism. It also boasts significant anti-inflammatory properties, due to its rich omega-3 fatty acid content. Numerous studies document the health benefits of salmon. A 2010 study published in The Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry suggests that fatty acids signal thyroid cells in the liver to burn more fat. To help your thyroid gland function properly, iodine is necessary. Iodine attaches to the amino acid tyrosine to form thyroxin, which is essential for your thyroid to function properly. An inadequate level of iodine in the body inhibits the production of metabolism-regulating thyroid hormones. Thank you for watching "7 Foods That Cure Thyroid Problems naturally. IV Glutathione - Dr. Adrian Hohenwarter

02:31
Today I'm discussing another very popular IV that I do at my office, and this is intravenous glutathione. This is a sulfur containing compound that is known for being the master antioxidant in the body and detoxifier. Glutathione is very poorly absorbed from the intestines, and it must be taken intravenously to achieve high levels in the body. If you can't do it intravenously, glutathione can be raised in the blood by eating cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, cauliflower, collards, or by taking the sulfur bearing compounds alpha lipoic acid and NAC, N-acetyl cysteine. Patients seek me for glutathione for various conditions. The most popular has been from the book published on it about using glutathione for treating Parkinson's disease. I've treated numerous Parkinson's patients over the years, and I've seen many benefits, including less tremor, more mobility, and even a patient who could leave assisted living and go live on their own. Glutathione can also help improve immunity, help treat other chronic diseases that are made worse by oxidative stress, such as hepatitis. So if you can't take it as an IV, I would encourage you to take those supplements if you suffer from Parkinson's disease. If you'd like to come see me as a patient, I encourage you to make an appointment. It's a very affordable treatment, and I do IV glutathione daily at my office. Visit us to learn more about IV Glutathione http://www.dradrianmd.com/store/pc/IV-Therapy-d8.htm Glutathione has become increasingly popular thanks to the work of Dr. David Perlmutter, a neurologist who has had great success treating Parkinson's disease. Glutathione (GSH) is a tripeptide meaning it contains 3 amino acids including cysteine. The supplement NAC supplements cysteine and increases glutathione. It is an antioxidant and prevents cellular damage from ROS (reactive oxygen species) such as free radicals and peroxides. Glutathione also maintains other antioxidants, including vitamins C and E, in their active or reduced forms. It is vital for the proper synthesis and repair of DNA, and numerous other critical biochemical pathways affecting every system of the body including the nervous and immune systems and liver function. Glutathione improves the liver's ability to remove countless toxins including heavy metals. Considering its central and multifaceted role in biology, it is no wonder that most every health condition can be improved by this compound. Unfortunately, glutathione is poorly if at all absorbed through the GI tract making IV glutathione administration the only way to effectively raise glutathione levels to disease reversing levels. Regular consumption of Brassica family vegetables which are high in cysteine and supplementation with NAC and lipoic acid can elevate GSH. In our office, we have witnessed many patients enjoy an improvement in Parkinson's symptoms including less tremor, less rigidity and more functionality. We offer Glutathione as an additional small bag tagged onto the end of IV C or chelation therapy. Dr. Adrian J. Hohenwarter Your Partner in Helping you to Heal Yourself.

I had my first panic attacks from age 13 after Tonsils removed. Lots of antibiotics and sore throats. Ear infections and water infections..  Mother was born with 2 kidneys but one was shrunk and tiny.  She went on to develop, wait for it, over active thyroid, pernicious anemia, angina, auto immune defficiency depression and now high blood preasure. Whilst carrying my brother she lost all off her teeth to no calcium. We went for its treatment in many higher centres in india...but got no diagnosis or treatment yet. The tumor seems to be non-functional and neither surgery nor chemo would be an option (according to the oncologists it’s a carcinoma). Her lymph nodes of the neck also became swollen by the end of October 2016 and they’re still swollen today, but haven’t changed in size. Besides of the tumor, my sister is doing amazing and feeling great (probably due to all the supplements she is taking). She doesn’t seem to be sick at all. We also started our own natural cancer treatment in summer 2016. It all looked good until the lymph nodes became swollen (the tumor even stagnated in the beginning of October 2016). I’m starting to think that the lymph nodes just might be clogged).

Any disturbances in liver function that can lead to an illness of a person is known as liver disease. The liver is the organ responsible for a number of critical functions in the body. When they get injured or diseased it will affect the proper functioning of the body. Liver disease is otherwise known as hepatic disease. The liver plays an important role in the metabolism of sugar, fat and iron. It produces bile which helps in fat digestion. It is also involved in protein production and the production of blood clotting factors. Symptoms of liver diseases include fatigue, weakness, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, yellow discoloration of the skin known as Jaundice etc. It requires more than 75% of the liver tissues to be damaged to affect the function of the liver. The REAL RED BULL...Licorice Root Extract [ Eclectic Institute]- www.franktortorici.com

03:52
Licorice Health Benefits The health benefits of licorice root has been used for thousands years to treat a variety of aliments, including coughs, sore throats, food poisoning, and liver and stomach disorders. Indeed, this herb has been long valued as a demulcent to soothe and coat inflamed tissues of the mouth, throat, and digestive and urinary tracts. In addition to its important uses as a demulcent, the herb acts as an expectorant, which has also been long valued. Glycyrrhizin, which is the main active ingredient in licorice root acts as an expectorant by loosing and thinning mucus and phlegm from the respiratory tract, making it easier to cough up. Glycyrrhizin also harbors anti-inflammatory properties. Today, alternative health care professionals continue to use the benefits of licorice root to relieve respiratory ailments such as bronchitis, colds, coughs, congestion, sore throat, and allergies. In addition, it is used for stomach problems (including heartburn from reflux), inflammatory disorders, skin conditions (including eczema and psoriasis), minor skin infections, and liver problems. But wait, there's more info about the health benefits of licorice root .. Recent animal studies have shown that licorice root enhances immunity by boosting levels of interferon. Interferon is one of nature's most powerful antiviral agents -- it helps to keep viruses from reproducing as well as it simulates the activity of other beneficial immune cells. Not surprising, other studies have shown that licorice fights the herpes simplex virus, which is the troublemaker that causes genital herpes and cold sores. European physicians treasure the health benefits of licorice root, meaning they highly regard it as one of the top herbal medicines for combating viral hepatitis. They use the intravenous form for the treatment of Hepatitis B and C. However, people who want to take advantage of licorice's possible healing action for hepatitis should discuss the herb with a knowledgeable health care provider. Recent studies indicate that licorice root also contains substances that kill certain bacteria and the fungus responsible for vaginal yeast infections. One of the most popular uses for this healing herb is for ulcers of the digestive tract. The benefits of licorice root are quite multifaceted in this area! According to the well-renowned tome "The Natural Physicians Healing Therapies" by Mark Stengler, N.D. the author states: "It stimulates cell growth of the stomach and intestinal linings, increases the natural mucous lining of the stomach, increases blood flow to the damaged tissues, and decreases muscle spasms." The recommended form of use is DGL (glycyrrhetinic acid). (Page 311.) Licorice root also seems to support the adrenal glands -- making these adrenal hormones such as cortisol (the body's primary stress-fighting adrenal hormone) more available to the body. As such, licorice may help lessen symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia by enhancing cortisol activity. Licorice root contains phytoestrogens that appear to have mild estrogen-like effects. As such, it is commonly included in formulas to help combat PMS and menopausal complaints. Licorice root also contains various flavonoids, which are potent antioxidants. Some experts point out that one -- among the arsenal of benefits of licorice root is that it's an excellent liver tonic. Lastly, licorice is considered a "harmonizing" herb, which means when used in a formula licorice can enhance other herbs to work more effectively to reduce their toxicity. In addition, it has the ability to tame the bitter taste of many other medicinal herbs. Other Licorice Health Benefits Licorice may also help to: •Protect against cancer due to its antioxidant properties •Control canker sores by accelerating its healing WWW.FRANKTORTORICI.COM

Regulation of growth by the mTOR pathway

Regulation of growth by the mTOR pathway Air date: Wednesday, March 20, 2013, 3:00:00 PM Wednesday Afternoon Lecture Series The mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), the target of the immunosuppressive drug rapamycin, is the central component of a nutrient- and hormone-sensitive signaling pathway that regulates cell growth and proliferation. This pathway becomes deregulated in many human cancers and plays an important role in the control of metabolism and aging. Sabatini's lab has identified two distinct mTOR-containing proteins complexes, one of which regulates growth through S6K and another that regulates cell survival through Akt. These complexes, mTORC1 and mTORC2, define both rapamycin-sensitive and insensitive branches of the mTOR pathway. New results on the regulation and functions of the mTORC1 and mTORC2 pathways will be discussed. Author: David M. 16:03
Childhood trauma isn’t something you just get over as you grow up. Pediatrician Nadine Burke Harris explains that the repeated stress of abuse, neglect and parents struggling with mental health or substance abuse issues has real, tangible effects on the development of the brain. This unfolds across a lifetime, to the point where those who’ve experienced high levels of trauma are at triple the risk for heart disease and lung cancer. An impassioned plea for pediatric medicine to confront the prevention and treatment of trauma, head-on. Goji Juice Medical Benefits

06:29
FACTS ABOUT GOJI BERRIES: Contain 19 amino acids -- the building blocks of protein -- including all eight that are essential for life. Contain 21 trace minerals, including germanium, an anti-cancer trace mineral rarely found in foods. Goji Juice contains approximately 124 ppm of organic Germanium. Germanium has been demonstrated to have anti-cancer activity. Japanese studies indicate that organic Germanium is effective in treating liver cancer, lung cancer, uterine cancer, cervical cancer, and testicular cancer when combined with other drugs. It has been found to induce the production in human beings of g-interferon. Interferon can depress and even kill cancer cells. Germanium possesses the power to take over the hydrogen ion from cancer cells. Losing hydrogen ions can cause depression and even death to cancer cells. Contains more protein than whole wheat (13 percent in the form of amino acids) Contains a complete spectrum of antioxidant carotenoids, including beta-carotene a better source than even carrots!) and zeaxanthin (protects the eyes). Goji berries are the richest source of carotenoids of all known foods. Contains Vitamin C at higher levels than even those found in oranges. Contains B-complex vitamins, necessary for converting food into energy. Contains Vitamin E (very rarely found in fruits, only in grains and seeds). Contains an anti-inflammatory agent called Beta-Sitosterol. Beta-Sitosterol also lowers cholesterol and has been used to treat sexual impotence and prostate enlargement. Contains essential fatty acids, which are required for the body's production of hormones and for the smooth functioning of the brain and nervous system, INCLUDING OMEGA 3 which is essential for excellent health and not readily available in most foods. Contains a compound called Cyperone that benefits the heart and blood pressure, alleviates menstrual discomfort, and has been used in the treatment of cervical cancer. Contains a powerful anti-fungal and anti-bacterial compound called Solavetivone. Contains a natural compound that is active against all major types of leukaemia called Physalin,. It has been shown to increase splenic natural killer cell activity in normal and tumour-bearing mice, with broad-spectrum anti-cancer effect. It has also been used as a treatment for hepatitis B. Contains Betaine, which is used by the liver to produce choline, a compound that calms nervousness, enhances memory, promotes muscle growth, and protects against fatty liver disease. Betaine also provides methyl groups in the body's energy reactions and can help reduce levels of homocysteine, a prime risk factor in heart disease. It also protects DNA. Containes polysaccharides which have been demonstrated to strongly fortify the immune system. In Mongolia it is commonly used by first trimester mothers to prevent morning sickness. It is a gentle and soothing fruit that is loaded with available vitality. Contains super high levels of antioxidants. What is an antioxidant? Just like rust on a car, oxidation can cause damage to cells by producing what are called "free radicals". Some people believe that free radicals are a major cause of aging. Antioxidants help prevent oxidation. Many people believe that antioxidants increase immune function and decrease aging. Goji juice has proven its amazing results on the following health conditions: dengue, Gouty Arthritis, diabetes, Myoma, Anemia, Chronic Dry Cough, Insomnia, Hemorrhoid (almoranas), Goiter, Sexual Performance Problem, Lupus, Cancer (breast, lung, ovarian, cervical, colon, prostate, leukemia, etc.), Allergies, Side effects of chemotheraphy & radiation, Asthma, High blood/ high choelsterol, Psoriasis, Schizophrenia/ meningitis, Pimples, Stroke/ heart diseases, Cataract, Fibromyalgia (chronic muscle pain), Gallstones, Headaches & dizziness, Toothache, Menopausal symptoms, Memory Loss, Morning sickness, Infertility, Kidney Problem, Liver Disease, Food Poisoning and manymore. The social life of bacteria: collapse of a culture

01:06:52
The social life of bacteria: collapse of a culture Air date: Wednesday, January 20, 2016, 3:00:00 PM Category: WALS - Wednesday Afternoon Lectures Runtime: 01:06:52 Description: Wednesday Afternoon Lecture Series Dr. Greenberg is interested in how and why individual cells communicate with each other. In particular, he has studied the bacterial communication system—called quorum sensing—and how it controls cooperation in groups of bacteria. In his lecture, he will focus on a human pathogen, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which uses a transcription factor called LasR to activate dozens of genes in response to the LasI-produced quorum-sensing signal 3OC12-HSL. The most overrepresented LasR-controlled genes code for the synthesis of exoproducts. Exoproducts are common goods that are made by individuals and shared within the group. Members of quorum-sensing groups are thus thought of as cooperators. Quorum-sensing cooperators, however, are susceptible to invasion by social cheaters—LasR mutants that benefit from cooperator-derived common goods without incurring a production cost. Greenberg will discuss three questions related to this bacterial social activity: 1) If social cheaters have a fitness advantage over cooperators, then how can cooperation be evolutionarily stable (Darwin’s dilemma)? He will describe one molecular mechanism that restrains cheating; 2) Why do cooperators and cheaters reach an equilibrium and co-exist with each other in some situations? He will describe how cooperators police cheaters; and 3) Can we manipulate conditions to induce a breakdown in cooperation and a catastrophic population crash? He will show that this crash can occur when the cost of cooperation is increased or when policing is eliminated. He will discuss the implications of this sociobiology view of P. aeruginosa population ecology in the context of chronic infections and general cell-cell interactions. Cordyceps Coffee : Cordyceps Benefits:

03:13
Please watch: "DXN Zhi Mint Plus - healthy candy with Ganoderma and Peppermint" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDDpaffGtLs --~-- Worldwide studies have shown that this unassuming fungus might deliver even more potentially life-enhancing benefits than previously claimed. This is considered a superfood which is just beginning to make itself known in the western medical literature. It is another valued Chinese medicinal herb. It is found naturally in the highlands of China, Tibet and Nepal. Cordyceps sinensis contains various nutrients and active ingredients, which include cordycepic acid, cordycepin, amino acids, glutamic acid, polysaccharides, vitamin B12 among others. It has been long-treasured as an essential tonic that may enhance blood circulation, and maintain a healthy kidney function and respiratory system. Normally used by sports people for extra stamina, aerobic enhancement, to overcome fatigue, create alertness and to increase energy levels. Particularly good for high altitude sports. The best-known medicinal action of Cordyceps sinensis is the possible increase of physical stamina. Cordycepincordyc31_big might very effective against all sorts of bacteria that have developed resistance to other antibiotics. Cordyceps has been shown to improve the internal balance mechanism, thus making the utilisation of oxygen more efficient.Numerous studies have demonstrated the benefits of Cordyceps sinensis on heart rhythm disturbances such as cardiac arrhythmias and chronic heart failure. Excellent studies have demonstrated the possible benefits of Cordyceps sinensis in helping to lower total cholesterol and triglycerides and to increase HDL (“good”) cholesterol. Clinical studies involving male and female patients with decreased libido have shown significant improvements in symptoms. The most dramatic physical proof has come from a male fertility study that showed that a Cordyceps supplement greatly increased sperm count, decreased sperm malformations and improved sperm survival rate after eight weeks of use. These properties and others may account for the overall physical enhancement, the added endurance, the libido-enhancing attributes and the anti-fatigue eff ects seen in humans using Cordyceps sinensis. Technological advances by DXN Research and Development team has successfully led to the growth and production of DXN’s Cordyceps sinensis. It is grown from pure and carefully selected species, which is organically cultivated under stringent quality control and testing – from cultivation to finished goods (there are many cheap Cordyceps on the market but only the Cordyceps sinensis has therapeutic benefits). Cordyceps Benefits: Enhancing and strengthening of the immune system: Cordyceps is supposed to increase the number of the Natural Killer Cells, which are responsible for the body defense against viruses and bacteria. Some trials show that the fungus works effectively in the leukemia stricken individuals. Improving sexual function: in men and increasing libido by stimulating the production of sex hormones. Cordyceps may also be a means for fighting female infertility. Building muscles and improving physical performance: Those Chinese athletes, who use Cordyceps, tend to show better results than the other sportsmen. Providing anti-aging and fatigue reducing effects: The fungus works as an antioxidant and increases cellular formation, especially in the elderly patients. It also promotes more restful sleep, soothes the nervous system, and reduces anxiety, thus working as a sedative. Improving the respiratory function: Cordyceps shows good results in fighting against cough, chronic bronchitis and asthma, since it relaxes bronchial walls and has anti-inflammatory properties. Enhancing cellular oxygen uptake: This benefits all the body systems, giving them more energy and vitality. Benefiting vascular system by improving circulation, regulating blood pressure, and strengthening the heart muscle. Protecting liver and kidneys: Cordyceps improves blood flow to these organs (as well as to the others), which results in their better activity and ability to fight the diseases, including Hepatitis and chronic kidney disease. https://youtu.be/tc317ybzq1U https://youtu.be/tc317ybzq1U https://youtu.be/tc317ybzq1U https://www.facebook.com/DXNHealthNWealth/?ref=bookmarks @DXNHealthNWealth

How Did I Get Fatty Liver? Causes Explained in Simple Language.

05:07
How many people have fatty liver, how does one get fatty liver and how to avoid getting it. Learn More at - https://bit.ly/2JUdM3d Shop Liver Health supplements - https://bit.ly/2HaZDxb Like us at - https://www.facebook.com/LiverMedic/ Leaky Gut occurs when an increase in harmful bacteria and commonly yeast (candida) within the intestine reaches a tipping point and the intestinal wall is breached. These bacteria and candida can literally burrow between the cells of the intestinal lining like a root system. Most of the time, we have a symbiotic relationship with intestinal bacteria from birth and they help reduce harmful effects of toxins, breakdown food and aid in immune function. As a matter of fact intestinal bacteria outnumber the cells in our body ten-to-one. But harmful bacteria can do the opposite and often this is exactly what takes place after a round of antibiotics. It can also occur after a severe cold but more typically Americans get it from their diets over longer periods of time. If you are eating a consistently poor diet with excessive sugar like most of the 300 Million people in America, you may well be on your way to having a Leaky Gut too. Leaky Gut is commonly caused by: Years of eating diets high in sugars, this can increase candida populations. Poor diet also increase bacteria colonies that are detrimental to good gut health. Use of antibiotics without immediate good bacteria reintroduction. Pesticides, GMOs and other harmful toxins that ravage the intestine walls and beneficial bacteria. When our intestinal wall is breached, this allows food particles to pass through and over time the immune system becomes overwhelmed with invaders. As if this is not bad enough, your immune system may also attack its own cells near the intestinal wall openings as a sort of collateral damage. This heightened immune state is often associated with chronic inflammation of other parts of the body like the back. Over time, the increasing influx of food particles charging through is too much and they must be processed some other way. The liver, which receives 70% of its blood flow from the intestine, is then charged with capturing and detoxifying the blood at this point. If the necessary chemicals (i.e. Glutathione, NAC, Tocotrienols) are in short supply, the liver simply shuttles the toxins into fat cells to keep them from invading the rest of the body. These fat cells are stored in the liver and elsewhere throughout the body. This leads to obesity; cripples liver function and can be seen in higher than normal blood sugar levels, as the liver is critical in regulating insulin. This is really the only option available to the liver at this point as it would be more dangerous to have these toxins floating in the blood disrupting other processes around the body. The best way to counter this cycle is finding ways to alleviate stress, changing your diet and supplementing it with probiotics and strong liver anti-oxidants. Supplements To Consider Milk thistle is often used, but many people aren’t aware that the bioavailability is 10 times higher when taking the isolated active in milk thistle (slybin). People that have fatty liver should also be taking NAC, SAMe, Turmeric and Glutathione. These are the top ingredients to reverse liver damage. All these seem to act in a way that kick starts phase II detoxification in the liver, which transfers fat-soluble toxins to water soluble toxins enabling them to be flushed out of the body. A good way to test for Leaky Gut is if you detect constant digestive problems such as gas, bloating, constipation and other food allergies. It’s this sensitivity to foods that is the sign of a problem. References http://obesity.bodyecology.com/leaky-gut

5 Medical Improvement That Make Our Life Better

05:20
5 Medical Improvement That Make Our Life Better Fighting against severe uncureable disease is really tiresome and sometime make people desperate to the point they want to end their life quickly. Indeed, some disease like cancer can be really tough to handle, even the horrible C. difficile bacteria can kills 15,000 people every year. However, doctors and medical scientists never stop their effort to find something new to make our chance to life a slightest better. So, here are 5 Medical Improvement That Make Our Life Better. 1. The Fecal Transplant The suggestion of taking another person's poop as well as giving it a new home in your very own colon could sound undesirable, however the treatment has proven incredibly effective in treating infections of C. difficile, a horrible bacteria that kills 15,000 people every year. The digested food waste in feces isn't really the cure itself. You're just acquiring a few of the handy germs living in the contributor's intestine, like a farmer picking the hardiest plants to seed next year's fields. The bacteria, generate proteins that associated with a great deal more conditions compared to what we understood," says Dr. Roizen. Still made out? Scientists in Canada have established an approach to provide simply the microorganisms without feces by means of an oral pill, this skipping the need for a poo injection. 2. The Heart-Saving Hormone Around 1 in 4 individuals who are hospitalized for heart failure don't last much longer than a year. However according to a College of The golden state San Francisco study a new medication called Serelaxin has upped the probabilities of survival by as high as 37 percent. It's an artificial variation of the hormone relaxin, which is generated by expectant women to help with the boosted tension carrying a fetus position on the heart. "It not just opens your blood vessels to provide your body organs oxygen, but it has anti-inflammatory buildings. Serelaxin's life-saving possibility is extensive enough that in June, the FDA dubbed it as a "breakthrough therapy," putting it on a faster track for approval in medical facilities. 3. The Hepatitis Cure Till just recently, therapy for hepatitis C fell into the good-but-not-great group, with only about 70 percent of clients being treated. And that was after as high as 48 weeks of a strict anti-viral medication routines, including shots of interferon, which triggers a number of devastating adverse effects. Yet the new drug Sofosbuvir is a far more potent killer of hep C, with success in as many as 95 percent of patients. Much more, the medicine just needs to be carried out for 12 weeks, sans interferon injections. 4. Heart-Attack Risk Test Advancement Today you get a cholesterol test to examine your risk of cardiovascular disease, yet soon you'll be more worried concerning your trimethylamine N-oxide or TMAO levels. Why? According with a current research study in the New England Journal of Medicine, people with the highest degree of TMAO in their blood have 2.5 times the risk of a cardiac arrest compared to those with the lowest levels. TMAO is a substance generated by intestinal tract microorganisms. Once in your bloodstream, TMAO increases the process of cholesterol forming into plaques in your arteries. Well, we're learning why red meat is hazardous, and what can be done to prevent that threat. Beyond simply staying clear of red meat, preventive steps can include probiotics or medications that squeeze off TMAO producing path ways! 5. The Precision-Guided Cancer cells Therapy The tough objective in any type of cancer treatment is to eliminate the growth while leaving healthy cells alone. Lately, a much better understanding of what makes cancer cells tick has enabled scientists to establish a class of medicines that pinpoint a weakness in cancer cells's unrestrained growth. For example, in lymphomas and also leukemias, researchers have actually established that the growth is managed by a healthy protein called Bruton's tyrosine kinase or BTK. After years of trial and error, physicians established a brand-new medicine called Ibrutinib that blocks BTK. A pair of studies in the New England Journal of Medication this summer discovered that the dental tablet helped 71 percent of chronic leukemia patients and also 68 percent of people with a kind of non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Most notably, Ibrutinib killed off the lymphoma while leaving the rest of the body immune system alone. Ideally this will cause a whole brand-new class of medicines that will certainly be cancer cell-specific. Well. that's 5 Medical Improvement That Make Our Life Better guys. Dr. Rowen understands when to use allopathic, conventional, alternative, complimentary and oxidative medicine to help his patients heal and experience optimal health. Robert Rowen, MD, Editor Second Opinion Newsletter ozone, ultraviolet blood irradiation, hyperbaric oxygen valuable for healing and battle against microbial infections. Dr. Robert Jay Rowen, a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Johns Hopkins University and graduate of the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine is internationally known for his work in the field of complementary/alternative/integrative medicine. He is affectionately known as the “Father of Medical Freedom” for pioneering the nation’s first statutory protection for alternative medicine in 1990 in Alaska, against a concerted opposition from the organized medical community and an imported “quackbuster.” A few years later, the Alaska governor appointed him to a term on the state medical board against overwhelming opposition from the medical establishment. His appointment was ultimately confirmed by the legislature with overwhelming public support. The rare medical freedom he enjoyed in Alaska enabled him to greatly expand knowledge and experience in a multitude of disciplines and therapies not normally found in medicine. Jumping into alternative medicine in 1983 through a practice in acupuncture, he quickly expanded to nutritional medicine, chelation therapy, oxidation therapy, homeopathy and herbal medicine, and took intensive training in neural therapy and prolotherapy to help treat and eliminate acute and chronic pain. Alaska’s laws enabled him to work extensively with innovative cancer therapies, ozone, and ultraviolet blood irradiation therapy. He is internationally known and respected for training hundreds of open-minded physicians in these techniques from around the world. In 2001, he became editor in chief of Second Opinion, one of the nation’s leading monthly publications revealing the frontiers of medicine. Thus, he reduced his practice load considerably to write and teach, and relocated from Alaska to California where he works part time with his like minded talented wife, Terri Su, MD at her Santa Rosa office, Radiant Health Medical Center, in the north Bay area. He recently retired as the editor at Second Opinion. He is now teaching doctors and health workers world-wide oxidative medicine so they can successfully battle the emerging viruses like Ebola, SARS, and other dangerous viruses and bacteria that are decimating the population of the world. You are cordially invited to journey with him into the frontiers of oxidative and integrative medicine. Dr. Rowen has authored numerous articles and some of which may be read online at http://robert-rowen-md.com.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: Advancing Research and Clinical Education

01:00:22
Doctors and scientists have not yet found what causes chronic fatigue syndrome. Infections and other medical and biological events are among the many possible triggers, but with no certain cause this disease is difficult to diagnose. A systematic approach to evaluating people with persistent symptoms combined with new diagnostic criteria offers hope for more accurate and faster diagnosis. Role of PPARγ in HCC – Video abstract 48512

03:44
Video abstract of a review paper “Emerging role of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma in hepatocellular carcinoma” published in the open access Journal of Hepatocellular Carcinoma by Hsu HT and Chi CW. Abstract: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the major leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus, alcohol consumption, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and diabetes are the major risks for developing HCC. Until now, recurrence and metastasis are the major cause of death in HCC patients. Therefore, identification of new effective molecular targets is an urgent need for treatment of HCC. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) is a ligand-activated nuclear receptor which could be activated by PPARγ agonists such as thiazolidinediones, and natural PPARγ ligand (such as 15-deoxy-Δ12,14-prostaglandin J2, 15d-PGJ2). Increasing in vitro and in vivo evidence has demonstrated that PPARγ agonists exhibit an inhibitory role on tumor cell growth, migration, and invasion, suggesting that PPARγ activation may play an important role in the regulation of growth of HCC. It has been reported that PPARγ activation by thiazolidinediones or overexpression of PPARγ by virus-mediated gene transfer has shown growth inhibitory effects in hepatoma cells, but the expression level of PPARγ in HCC tissues still remains conflicting. Notably, a novel PPARγ agonist, honokiol, has recently been found to activate the PPARγ/RXR heterodimer, and has also exhibited significant anti-cancer effects in hepatoma cells. In the present review, we summarized studies on the role and the molecular regulation of PPARγ in HCC development in vitro and in vivo. PPARγ has the potential to be a therapeutic target for future treatment of HCC.
