https://www.baumhedlundlaw.com/widow-blames-weak-warning-label-on-generic-paxil-for-husbands-suicide/ ► Former GlaxoSmithKline CEO Jean-Pierre Garnier’s deposition in Paxil suicide case. Garnier says in his testimony that GSK’s way of counting adverse events associated with Paxil hid the suicidal behavior risk. This deposition was played for the jury in the trial of Dolin v. Smithkline Beecham Corp. (D/B/A GlaxoSmithKline-GSK). The case stems from the alleged paroxetine-induced death of Stewart Dolin, a partner at the law firm Reed Smith. Paroxetine is the brand name version of this medication is called Paxil which was researched, developed, manufactured and marketed by GlaxoSmithKline (“GSK”). The lawsuit alleges that GSK failed to adequately warn Mr. Dolin’s doctor about Paxil/paroxetine’s association with an increased risk of suicidal behavior in adults of all ages. According to the lawsuit, when Mr. Dolin was prescribed paroxetine in 2010, the label did not accurately warn physicians of the drug’s association with an increased risk of suicidal behavior in adults, despite GSK’s 2006 analysis showing a statistically significant 6.7 times greater risk in adults of all ages, as well as comparable statistically significant suicidal behavior evidence as far back as 1989 in Paxil’s clinical trials performed for its initial marketing approval. This is a blog telling you guys about my experience with both paxil and wellbutrin, as well as talk a bit about zoloft. It might come as a surprise to my viewers that I have been diagnosed with depression, but I feel that this is an important topic, as people with depression should take medication because it has changed my life and could potentially change theres. I forgot to mention that Wellbutrin is slightly more expensive than Paxil. With our insurance, paxil (10 mg) was only about 15 cents for a month supply, and Wellbutrin (150 mg) is about $9.50 for a month supply. I don't know how much this varies depending on your insurance, but I know that Paxil is known for being cheap. Also, with Wellbutrin you CANNOT drink alcohol. I drank one (yes, one) beer when I started taking wellbutrin and it made me throw up all night. Horrible. so, if you drink you might want to consider that when choosing an anti-depressent. Paxil did the same thing to me, but not as immediate as WellButrin. DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. DO NOT SELF-PERSCRIBE ANYTHING TO YOURSELF, AND CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT WHICH DEPRESSION MEDICATION COULD POTENTIALLY WORK BEST FOR YOU. THIS IS JUST MY EXPERIENCE, AND YOURS COULD VARY COMPLETELY.

Often the interaction can unpredictably occur several months later. The patient becomes toxic to the amphetamine, angry, irrational, can't sleep, can't eat, and can become dangerously destructive. We take medication expecting it to make us better, or make us feel better. The last thing we want is to take a medication for one thing, and have it make something much more important get worse. If you are taking any of the Anti-Cholinergics as a long-term medication, then that is exactly what might be happening. You might be taking something to help you sleep or to lessen muscle spasms, and what it might be doing in the background is increasing your risk of developing dementia. Do you take any of the medications I discuss? Please leave me a comment below of the drug name if you have been taking one of these meds daily. Statin Scam Exposed: Cholesterol Drugs Cause Rapid Aging, Brain Damage And Diabetes Please SUBSCRIBE : http://bit.ly/2e9Su11 Statins are a treatment prescribed in the case of high “bad” cholesterol levels, as a way to reduce them and support heart health. However, a recent study has shown that they are far more harmful than beneficial. Statin drugs, like Crestor, Lipitor, and Zocor, are often prescribed, and only in the United States, more than $374 billion are spent on them in the year 2014. They are quite expensive, but consumers should worry about much more than the price. According to a study published in the American Journal of Physiology, statins “…impact on other biologic properties of stem cells provides a novel explanation for their adverse clinical effects. “ Hence, the side effects of these drugs include accelerated “process of aging” and the “…long-term use of statins has been associated with adverse effects including myopathy, neurological side effects and an increased risk of diabetes.” Myopathy is a condition of skeletal muscle weakness. Moreover, researchers have found the health issues caused by statins have been downplayed recently. People taking statins often experience muscle pain, memory loss, fatigue, liver damage, and cataracts. Also, statins wreak havoc in cells as they obstruct the repair process of the body. As stated by the professor Reza Izadpanah, a stem cell biologist and lead author of the published study, “Our study shows statins may speed up the aging process. People who use statins as a preventative medicine for [health] should think again as our research shows they may have general unwanted effects on the body which could include muscle pain, nerve problems, and joint problems.” Yet, even though statins are related to multiple side-effects, FDA claims they are safe and effective. At the same time, their online site maintains that “Cognitive (brain-related) impairment, such as memory loss, forgetfulness, and confusion, has been reported by some statin users” and that “People being treated with statins may have an increased risk of raised blood sugar levels and the development of Type 2 diabetes.” The site focuses on the advice of Amy G. Egan, M.D., M.P.H., the deputy director for safety in the FDA’s Division of Metabolism and Endocrinology Products (DMEP), who claims that: “This new information should not scare people off statins. Their benefit is indisputable, but they need to be taken with care and knowledge of their side effects.” However, the findings of recent studies indicate that there is a need for further research on the effects of prescription drugs, as they are linked to numerous adverse effects. Another similar study on the adolescent antidepressant “Paxil” found some rather disturbing facts as well. Namely, scientists have found certain flaws in the original study. They found that the drug is neither safe nor efficient. Hence, Brian Nosek, a professor of psychology at the University of Virginia believes that it “signals that the community is waking up, checking its work and doing what science is supposed to do — self-correct.” ====================================== statin drugs ,what are statin drugs ,cholesterol drugs ,new cholesterol drug ,statin drugs side effects ,list of statin drugs ,cholesterol lowering drugs ,cholesterol drugs list ,cholesterol reducing drugs ,non statin cholesterol drugs ,cholesterol drugs side effects ,side effects of cholesterol lowering drugs ,statin drugs for cholesterol ,statin drugs and memory loss ,dangers of statin drugs ,statin drugs and diabetes https://youtu.be/jc3h3x5KV1s Please SUBSCRIBE : http://bit.ly/2e9Su11

Vlogging for Healing! Corrections: It was actually Wed., Oct. 4, 2017 when I created this video. I meant death warmed over, not death rolled over I also meant gravitate towards, not grab towards - ugghh I certainly didn’t mean to say joy, more like dread :( I am referring to a FB group that I’m in with other people who are coming off of the SSRI paxil. Thanks for watching - I really appreciate it! Please like and subscribe to my channel! if you so desire :) Don't hesitate to comment or ask questions. I did have a few conversations with the Operations Manager at the London Humane Society and she was very open to hearing what I had to say and improving the place. They are understaffed and without CEO per se (top manager) right now and are looking. I actually did do everything possible to make my Thanksgiving weekend a better experience. My goal is to make holidays less dreadful! Bless you, A

When I find myself in fear mode, or angry, resentful, bitter or thinking/feeling crappy in any way, (and these days it seems easier and easier to enter into these less than empowering states) I use these negative feelings as a cue to step back into a watching, observer state. And what is usually being observed is that all feelings are linked to the endless, non-stop churning of the mental machinery, the robotic, automatic spewing of this mysterious "thing" called thought/feeling. Now, I understand the power and importance of thought/feeling. And I am not trying to marginalize it's power for construction and fulfillment. But thought/feeling can be like an unruly beast of burden. Sure it can do some good work, but when it goes into its habitual and automatic mode, (which is a function of its primary survival imperative; a good thing!) it is not operating in its owner's interest. Thus it is critical that when negative thoughts/feelings kick in, that we take a pause, and observe carefully the movement of thought/feeling as it arises and (as it inevitably must) falls. Separate yourself from this movement by watching. Observe closely its activity and realize that this robotic process has enthralled and enslaved you for your entire life. As you make this realization, a sense of power will come over you. You will, for at least a moment, feel a sense of a potential freedom and power, that has heretofore been completely unsuspected. Our diets have changed and the repercussions of that are depression and anxiety. The eskimos were the happiest people on earth and they had an 80% fat diet. The people that Weston A. U.S. combat troops are taking daily doses of antidepressants to calm nerves strained by repeated and lengthy tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. The medicines are intended not only to help troops keep their cool but also to enable the already strapped Army to preserve its most precious resource: soldiers on the front lines. Data contained in the Army's fifth Mental Health Advisory Team report indicate that, according to an anonymous survey of U.S. troops taken last fall, about 12% of combat troops in Iraq and 17% of those in Afghanistan are taking prescription antidepressants or sleeping pills to help them cope. Escalating violence in Afghanistan and the more isolated mission have driven troops to rely more on medication there than in Iraq, military officials say. At a Pentagon that keeps statistics on just about everything, there is no central clearinghouse for this kind of data, and the Army hasn't consistently asked about prescription-drug use, which makes it difficult to track. Given the traditional stigma associated with soldiers seeking mental help, the survey, released in March, probably underestimates antidepressant use. But if the Army numbers reflect those of other services — the Army has by far the most troops deployed to the war zones — about 20,000 troops in Afghanistan and Iraq were on such medications last fall. The Army estimates that authorized drug use splits roughly fifty-fifty between troops taking antidepressants — largely the class of drugs that includes Prozac and Zoloft — and those taking prescription sleeping pills like Ambien. In some ways, the prescriptions may seem unremarkable. Generals, history shows, have plied their troops with medicinal palliatives at least since George Washington ordered rum rations at Valley Forge. During World War II, the Nazis fueled their blitzkrieg into France and Poland with the help of an amphetamine known as Pervitin. The U.S. Army also used amphetamines during the Vietnam War. The increase in the use of medication among U.S. troops suggests the heavy mental and psychological price being paid by soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Pentagon surveys show that while all soldiers deployed to a war zone will feel stressed, 70% will manage to bounce back to normalcy. But about 20% will suffer from what the military calls "temporary stress injuries," and 10% will be afflicted with "stress illnesses." Such ailments, according to briefings commanders get before deploying, begin with mild anxiety and irritability, difficulty sleeping, and growing feelings of apathy and pessimism. As the condition worsens, the feelings last longer and can come to include panic, rage, uncontrolled shaking and temporary paralysis. The symptoms often continue back home, playing a key role in broken marriages, suicides and psychiatric breakdowns. The mental trauma has become so common that the Pentagon may expand the list of "qualifying wounds" for a Purple Heart — historically limited to those physically injured on the battlefield — to include posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Defense Secretary Robert Gates said on May 2 that it's "clearly something" that needs to be considered, and the Pentagon is weighing the change. Which means that any drug that keeps a soldier deployed and fighting also saves money on training and deploying replacements. But there is a downside: the number of soldiers requiring long-term mental-health services soars with repeated deployments and lengthy combat tours. If troops do not get sufficient time away from combat — both while in theater and during the "dwell time" at home before they go back to war — it's possible that antidepressants and sleeping aids will be used to stretch an already taut force even tighter. "This is what happens when you try to fight a long war with an army that wasn't designed for a long war," says Lawrence Korb, Pentagon personnel chief during the Reagan Administration. http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1811858,00.html

This expensive drug basically offers the same anti-depressant activity as the generic forms of Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil or Celexa but at a much greater price. For some unknown reason nausea remains a common, long lasting side effect. Nowhere in the barrage of televised advertising is there mention that the daily cost of the drug exceeds $10 versus $3-10 for one month of the generic versions of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

3 simple tips to follow before buying: 1. Always check the CBD purity, it should be 50% and more. 2. Choose products made in the US or Canada. Due to strict regulations this is your quality guarantee. 3. Do not expect to purchase quality and safe to use CBD oil for pennies. High quality CBD oil should cost at least $45-$50. Choose another product if that amount puts you into an uncomfortable situation financially. Brands that I trust and recommend: 1. Verified CBD Oil (http://verifiedcbdoil.com). This is probably the oldest brand of CBD I know. Tons of success stories and quality I have tested myself - these are the reasons I have been recommending this brand to my friends and family for years. The only downside is that due to their recent TV "fame" they are often out of stock and can be hard to get. Official website: http://verifiedcbdoil.com Benefits and Side Effects of CBD Oil Cannabidiol, or CBD as it is commonly known, is a very interesting chemical. And it is responsible for many people changing their views on marijuana use for medicinal purposes. While everyone has heard of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), not many are aware of CBD. The two chemicals are both contained in marijuana, but they serve very different purposes. While the THC in marijuana is will get you high, CBD is a chemical with many benefits from a medicinal point of view - and it does not have the same side effects on the body as THC. What are the Health Benefits of CBD Oil? The ingredient CBD has been used for many years to make several products. One of these products is CBD oil. According to many studies which have carried out on this product, there are many different health benefits associated with it. First and foremost, it can help people who are experiencing excessive nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy or some other type of medical treatment. It is also great at reducing the seizures some people get on a regular basis. Another benefit of CBD oil is how it helps combat inflammation and neuro-degenerative disorders. It is also great for anxiety and depression sufferers. So if you are suffering from one of these conditions, you may want to talk to your physician about the possibility of getting on CBD oil for a few months. CBD oil also contain various o nutrients like carbohydrates, amino acids, vitamins such as vitamin B1, B2, B6, D and E, trace minerals such as calcium, iron zinc, magnesium potassium, and several other compounds required by the human body for healthy functioning, such as chlorophyll, carotene, ketones, glycosides, nitrogen-based compounds, etc.. Unlike THC, CBD oil doesn't make you high. The CBD in these this product will not make you feel the same as the THC does. This is because THC is a psychoactive chemical whereas CBD is not. It does not act in the same manner when it comes into contact with your brain's pathways. It does not interfere with your psychological or psychomotor functions either. For those who want a simpler explanation: CBD oil is 100% safe and won't get you high! Are there Any Side Effects of CBD Oil? Whereas CBD oil has been proven safe for human consumption, some researches done on it have identified a possibility of side effects in patients taking the oil. One study which was published in 1886 in the International Journal of Neuroscience showed that CBD oil could cause some mild side effects in patients with dystonia. These side effects include dry mouth, hypotension, sedation, psychomotor slowing, and lightheadedness. However, there are no side effects which have been reported when CBD is taken in high doses. As you can see, you should not worry when taking CBD oil as its side effects are very mild. Buy CBD oil today and experience the many benefits associated with it. Watch: "Melania Trump HATES Donald And Proved It At State Of The Union Address" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJYyJsmU3ZI --~-- President Trump doubled down on his campaign promise to lower prescription drug prices for American citizens, but Americans are skeptical to buy into his promises, especially considering how entrenched our lawmakers are with Big Pharma lobbyists. Watch America's Lawyer featuring Mike Papantonio on RT: https://www.rt.com/shows/americas-lawyer/ President Trump doubled down on his campaign promise to lower prescription drug prices for American citizens. But Americans are skeptical to buy his promise, especially considering how entrenched, absolutely entrenched, our lawmakers are with big pharma money. Big pharma passes around so much money, Farron, that ... I mean, it's startling, the amount of money. So what ends up happening is finally somebody in The White House says "Oh my god. Look at the markup that pharma is doing here. A pill that costs 50 cents in Europe costs $50 in America." We've known that for ages. You and I have done stories on this over the ... What are some of the markups? I mean, these markups are amazing. I look at Celebrex, 100-milligram Celebrex is a 21,000% markup. Right? Take it from there. I mean- You got Lipitor, highly popular medication in the United States, markup, 4,696%. Paxil, markup, 2,898. Prilosec, which so many Americans are on every single day, the markup on that one, 69,417%- Which might kill you in the end because it's a PPI, and now we're finding out PPI is causing a whole host of physical injuries. Okay, so Trump comes out, of all people, and says "You know, we're going to do something about this." At this point, what you have is you have five states ... Under his plan, you'll have five states that are allowed to go to Medicaid and say to Medicaid, "You're charging too much money," and that makes the market hopefully respond. We should see some activity there, shouldn't we? If that really happens, if it really happens. Well, yeah, we should. To be honest, I have very ... I don't even know that I've ever said a kind word about Donald Trump- I've never heard you say a kind word. ... but I will say if anybody can do this, it might be a guy like him. I don't want people to think I'm suddenly on the Trump train here but if you think about it, Donald Trump isn't the kind of guy who has spent enough time there to be completely corrupted, as both Republicans and Democrats are, by big pharma money. So it might be possible. And he may be so naïve that he doesn't understand that he can't do anything about big pharma making a 70 ... Prilosec, 69,000% markup on Prilosec. $69,000 ... I mean 69,000%. It may be he's looking at this, he saying "I can get something done," maybe he's so naïve that where he doesn't understand that big pharma owns and operates Washington DC. Well, see, and that's part of the issue here too though is that ... Trump has said this several times. This is not the first we've heard of this. He does understand also that his approval ratings are bad. 42%, it just hit this all-time high of 42%- It's like that's a big deal, he's 40 [crosstalk 00:03:03]- Right, and we know that he is obsessed with these poll numbers. He wants people to love him. Yeah. This could be a way. I know it's to serve- Oh, this- ... his own ego, but if it still helps the American public by not- But- ... making us pay a 70% markup- The only thing that solves this problem ... You remember the pharma bro? Okay. Pharma bro gets sentenced to prison for ... I forgot what. Was it seven- Seven. Seven years. Seven years- Yeah. ... okay. People think he was sentenced to prison for marking up that AIDS Drug like a gazillion percent. No, he was sentenced to prison because he tried to steal money from rich people in a Ponzi scheme. So really, it comes right down to it, it's going to take a lot to really move this ball. Endo ... Look, this is a great example. $270 million to resolve an antitrust case ... This is amazing. People don't realize that, but you have companies like Endo that ... You have these drug companies that ... what they do is they pay generic drug makers to delay the release of cheaper medication. This has been going on for decades now, but the fines aren't working. If we want this practice to end, we're going have to have stricter punishment. Give us an example of how this goes.

Celebrities... we love to hate them, and sometime they love to hate each other. Here are 8 of the craziest celebrity feuds ever. Subscribe for weekly wacky videos and learn interesting facts about the world with awesome top 10 lists and other amazing videos. 4 - Khloe Kardashian vs. Amber Rose – The Khloe and Amber feud is a good one. Let’s break it down – it all started when Amber was on a radio show and made comments about Kylie Jenner and Tyga’s relationship. Amber is friends with Blac Chyna, who is Tyga’s baby mama and ex-girlfriend. Amber said that Kylie’s a baby and Tyga should be ashamed of himself. So that did not go over well with Miss Khloe, who then tweeted that Amber should stop talking about her family because they don’t talk about her. She also went on to defend her sister. Amber responded with the # DontPanic in reference to a French Montana song, Khloe’s on-again off-again boyfriend. This feud is deep rooted since Amber has stated in interviews she believes Kim Kardashian is a homewrecker and that Kanye West, Amber’s ex-boyfriend cheated on her with Kim while Kim was dating Reggie Bush. Did you get all that? 3 - Tom Cruise v. Brooke Shields – The year was 2005 and Brooke Shields had made the brave decision to speak out about post partum depression and her own experience. In a television interview, Tom Cruise then decided to list all the reasons he thought Brooke’s treatment plan for her post partum depression was wrong and dangerous. Brooke had opened up about taking the drug Paxil which is an anti-depressant to help her cope with the depression and Cruise went on to say she was irresponsible. Cruise said she should take vitamins instead. Shields responded by saying that Cruise should mind his own business and refused to accept his apology – which he made publicly. The two eventually did make up, and Shields even received a personal invite to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ wedding in Italy. 2 - Donald Trump v. Rosie O'Donnell – Donald Trump is not known for being one to hold back. And back in 2006 things began heating up between Trump and Rosie O’Donnell. It all started when Trump decided not to fire Miss USA Tara Conner after it was found out she was involved in drugs, underage drinking and other debauchery. Rosie took to her television show The View to weigh in and criticized Trump’s decision. It was all downhill from there. After Rosie went on a bit about all the reasons she dislikes Trump, Donald began firing back, publicly making comments about what a loser Rosie is and making comments about her weight and how he was going to sue her. The hits just kept coming. For years and years the two would roast each other on social media complete with name calling and cheap shots. Most recently Trump was interviewed by Megyn Kelly and when asked about comments he’s made referring to women as “fat pigs, dogs and slobs,” his answer was “Only Rosie O’Donnell.” It doesn’t seem like these two will be kissing and making up anytime soon. 1 - Kanye West v. Taylor Swift – And finally the feud to end all feuds – this one is a good one. The drama began in 2009 at the MTV Video Music Awards, when Taylor Swift won the award for Best Female Video. As she was accepting her award, an allegedly drunk Kanye West stormed the stage, grabbed the mic and did what only Kanye West can do so well. He began his rant by telling Taylor the now infamous phrase, “Ima let you finis,” and then proceeded to go on about how Beyoncé should have gotten the award. A confused Taylor just stood by and watched and Kanye later went on a worldwide apology tour where he had to beg forgiveness for his actions. All seemed well with Swift and West for years, but eventually Kanye started to get a little miffed that Taylor had never defended him and seemed to just “ride the wave.” Despite this, the two crossed paths many times and were very cordial. However, all that changed in 2016 when Kanye released the song Famous, in which he sings lyrics about Swift and how he made her famous. Taylor was publicly offended by the song, however West’s wife Kim Kardashian West later posted a video to her snapchat of West on the phone with Swift and Swift giving a big thumbs up to the same lyrics she claimed to be offended by. The backlash on Swift was massive and ongoing… Stayed tuned to see how this one turns out!

SECRETS of the Pharmaceutical Industry REVEALED!!! Believe it or not, the pharmaceutical industry has a few skeletons in their closet. I know…you’re surprised, right? As one of America’s largest industries, it should come as no surprise that pharmaceutical companies can sometimes do some shady things in the name of making more money. Here are ten things you didn’t know about the pharmaceutical industry. Stay tuned to number 1 to find out the marketing tactics they use to subliminally convince YOU to use their medications! Reform is needed, with all of this corruption! Brought to you by Zero2Hero!! Don't forget to subscribe here! https://goo.gl/NXuChu Find out which crazy foods you never knew were Genetically Modified! https://youtu.be/fYZYMESqjf0 Number 10: Unregulated Industry. Taking a pill, using a cream, or drinking an elixir has been commonplace for centuries, but pharmaceuticals as an industry really only came about around two hundred years ago. In 1818, a chemist named Robert Shoemaker started developing pills and elixirs to help people with common medical issues, such as headaches and body pains. His products caught on quickly, and soon led to many more people developing “cures for what ails ya.” The only problem? All of this activity went unchecked until the government developed the Federal Drug Administration, or FDA, in 1902. So, for about eighty years, anyone who thought their blend of whisky and rat poison, or…whatever was the cure for chest pains…could sell the stuff and get away with it! No questions asked, not even to determine if it was good whisky. If the FDA regulations don’t seem tough enough today, just imagine living in the pre-FDA days. Number 9: Not-So Clinical Trials While many companies publish the results of their clinical trials, some decide not to. I wonder why... An example of this came a few years back when Glasko Smith Kline was forced to publish the results of their clinical trials after their drug Paxil, an SSRI for depression and anxiety, was found to actually RAISE the likelihood of suicide in teens and young adults. A pill for depression, of all things! After a lengthy court battle, GSK was forced to release the information that they knew the pill wasn’t nearly as effective as they had led the public to believe. This may sound like a victory for the people, but sadly, it’s just one lawsuit, covering one situation. As far as we know, many other companies, even GSK themselves, could have other unreleased clinical trials that we know nothing about. And chances are, we never will. Number 8: Different Name…Same Pill Sometimes product naming can be tough, especially if your company is full of scientists with little interest in fancy naming conventions. “Just call it ‘cash grab’ and let’s move on, already!” Take ‘Prozac,’ for example. Developed as a pill for depression, the name sounds very professional and scientific. Unfortunately, the company noticed a significant lack of female customers, so they created ‘Seraphim,’ a pink coated version of the exact same pill. Now, it’s not impossible for customers to discover this clever trick, but sadly, this is a common practice in the pharmaceutical industry. Prozac sounds scientific and manly, while Seraphim sounds like the perfect pill for women. And somehow, this is okay. So, the next time you see two medication ads that seem to be for the same type of pill, they very well may be. Number 7: Political Lobbying We’ve officially reached the “financial section” of our list now, and naturally, we’ll start with lobbying. Lobbying, in the most basic sense, is when companies send representative to hang out at the capital in DC to tell the lawmakers why they should pass or repeal certain laws. Usually, the reasoning includes large bags of cash, personally delivered to the hands of the lawmakers. While many industries perform lobbying, the pharmaceutical takes it to the extreme. Big Pharma companies spent about $232 million in 2012 in political lobbying, alone! That’s far more than any other industry in the nation. With this money, they can get exclusive meetings with top lawmakers, and make “suggestions” of how to vote on upcoming laws, or even pitch a few ideas of their own. And at $232 million per year, maybe this is why the pills cost so much. Which brings me to... Number 6: No Limits Ever wondered why your prescription costs so much more now than it did a few years ago? Maybe the chemicals in it are more expensive, or the processing costs have risen. Nope. Sometimes they just want more cash. While the FDA regulates many areas of the pharmaceutical industry, it does not touch pricing at all. This also explains why, if you ever talk to a friend who uses the same meds, you quickly discover that one of you is paying way more than the other. Pricing issues can sometimes be the difference of double or triple the cost for seemingly no good reason, but sometimes the discrepancy is absurd. Take Daraprim for example.
