Your stomach is like a muscle. When it's filled with large meals three times a day, the dispensability (amount your stomach walls can stretch) increases. When you head in the other direction - eating many small meals throughout the day - your stomach's capacity goes down. Intermittent fasting will make you eat fewer meals, resulting in your stomach shrinking and less caloric intake. People will indulge in a less than healthy meal and feel overly full after – don’t have room for veggies as stomach shrinks. Less Calories: Most people who try intermittent fasting end up cutting weight. You might plan big meals, but consistently eating them is difficult in practice. Even if you tell people that they can eat two large meals at lunch and dinner, they typically end up eating fewer calories than they would at 3 or 4 normal meals. Most people lose weight while intermittent fasting because when they cut out meals, they don't make up for it with bigger meal sizes. Creamer: A “fasted state” is merely a definition of a specific metabolic state — no food (calories) whatsoever in the gut. You mentioned that you're doing fertility treatments. You're taking Clomid and you started that mid-September and you're wondering when you can find out if you're pregnant. I can understand why you'd be so anxious and why you'd want to know as soon as possible. Now, as for when you'll be able to find out if you're pregnant or not, there's so many different variables that will affect this and so my recommendation is that you call and talk to your doctor. They know the specifics of your situation, like where you were in your cycle when you started the Clomid, when they would except you to ovulate based on their knowledge of your previous cycle history. They can give you the best information. But generally speaking, you can usually find out if you're pregnant about a week after you've missed a period. So if it was supposed to start on Monday, you can usually find out if you're pregnant by the end of the week, Thursday Friday, Saturday. Over-the-counter pregnancy tests are detecting a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin, or hCG. Your body releases this hormone early in pregnancy and throughout the first trimester. The levels grow exponentially daily, especially early on in pregnancy. So each day makes a big difference in how much is in your blood. So, if you don't have enough, then the test may not detect it when you take an over-the-counter test too early. But if you give it a few days, like wait a week after your missed period, then usually an over-the-counter test will detect a positive result. But again, I think it would be best for you to talk to your doctor who knows exactly where you were in your cycle and when you could have been expected to ovulate and when you can find out if you're pregnant. In Australia diabetes is the fastest growing chronic disease and ranks as the 6th most common cause of death. Type 2 diabetes is associated with reduced life expectancy and significant morbidity due to increased risk of microvascular and macrovascular complications which in turn impact on quality of life. Reduction of possible co-morbid conditions has been shown to be related to effective glycaemic control. Lifestyle modification and therapeutic interventions play a large role in improving blood glucose control in people with type 2 diabetes. Integral to this is effective patient education. All people with type 2 diabetes should be referred for structured diabetes patient education and cost effective strategies sought to implement this in a culturally appropriate manner.
