You’re working out, you’re counting calories, but still, you’re not getting any results? It might be because you’re eating these 6 foods that keep you from shedding those extra pounds. In this video, I’ll show you exactly what foods you must stop eating to lose weight permanently… and which foods to replace them with. You’ve probably heard that the one thing that truly matters for weight loss and weight gain is calories in, calories out. If you burn more calories than you eat, you should lose weight, right? True, however, if you only eat donuts and cake, will you get the protein, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals you need for a lean, healthy body? You won’t - and that’s why a proper diet is so important. A calorie is not a calorie - some food are simply better for you than others. A 100 grams of fructose won’t have the same impact on the body as 100 grams of quality protein. The fructose will lead to insulin resistance, higher ghrelin levels and increased appetite, The protein will give you a feeling of fullness which will prevent overeating, not to mention that it will help you build muscle. Now that you know that calories aren’t all that matters, let’s take a look at the 7 foods you should drop if you want to lose fat. 1. Sugar With a nickname like “white death”, it’s no surprise sugar is at the top of this list. Sugar is nothing more than empty calories. It has no nutritional value, no vitamins and no minerals. It spikes your blood glucose and in the long term leads to metabolic syndrome, obesity, cardiovascular disease and especially type II diabetes. You can even get addicted to it and suffer withdrawal symptoms because sugar causes a release of dopamine in the reward center of the brain. Not to mention that it is extremely bad for you teeth. So what can you when you get the sweet tooth? Raw honey is a great substitute that won’t spike your insulin and actually has a ton of amino acids, vitamins, minerals and enzymes. 2. Refined grains Pasta, bread, and pizza are delicious. However, most of them are made out of refined grains. Refined grains are high on the glycemic index and can spike your blood sugar levels, leading to weight gain and type II diabetes. One study found that eating just two slices of white bread per day was linked to a 40% greater risk of weight gain and obesity (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25335643/). In the process of refinement, the bran and germ of the grain are removed, along with most of the nutrients. But don’t worry, you can still eat grains - just make sure they’re whole. 3. All sodas and sugary drinks, diet or not What goes for sugar goes for sugary drinks as well. If sugar is just empty calories, then sugary drinks are liquid calories. The problem with these is that we don’t really detect them. You can drink a whole meal’s worth of calories and still be hungry. A single bottle of Coca-Cola “only” has 184 calories, but even if you just have one or two a day, they add up quickly. The best solution is to simply cut them out completely and drink water. 4. Alcohol Alcohol has more calories per gram than carbs or protein - 7. That means it is easy to go over your week’s calories on a Friday night out. But it’s not just the calories. Alcohol is a poison to the body. When you drink it, the liver burns alcohol instead of fat - stopping your fat burning for several hours. For example, a regular beer has 150 calories. A few of those, and some fast food at the end of the night can quickly come out to over 1000 in calories. If you want to drink, do it in moderation. 5. Salt Unlike most of this list, salt is the one thing you shouldn’t give up on. The two minerals found in it - sodium and chloride - are both necessary for optimal function of the body. Going too low leads to higher LDL levels, increased insulin resistance, increased risk of death from heart disease, heart failure and type II diabetes. However, too much salt has been linked to stomach cancer. In fact, people with high salt intake have a 68% higher risk of stomach cancer. But most of that comes from processed foods, which we know are bad. If you stop eating processed foods most of the time, you don’t need to worry about salt too much. FODMAP is an acronym that stands for Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides And Polyols Since your body is unable to completely digest these sugar molecules, they travel through your GI tract and reach your colon undigested, where the bacteria that live in your colon begin to ferment them. The fermentation can produce gas and bloating Raw Cruciferous Vegetables (Kale, Broccoli, Cabbage) Cruciferous veggies (cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, etc.) cause bloating and gas when eaten in their raw form - extremely high in insoluble fiber, which can be difficult for your body to break down. Cooking vegetables helps break down the fibers they contain, which makes them easier on the digestive system because they’re already partly broken down. Cruciferous veggies also contain raffinose, a sugar molecule - Raffinose cannot be broken down in the small intestine as humans lack the alpha-galactosidase enzyme required to break it down. It passes through your GI tract completely undigested. Once it reaches the large intestine though, the bacteria there thrive on it and ferment raffinose into large volumes of hydrogen, methane and other gases. Fermented Veggies: Sauerkraut, kim chi, sauerruben and curtido are excellent alternatives for people with gut issues. First, the fermentation process “pre-digests” the vegetables and makes them easier to absorb. However, you cannot usually add fruit to beverages or recipes that call for sugar. Yet, there are natural sweeteners that are healthy substitutes for sugar and they can be used in many different forms. Here are the top eight natural sweeteners and sugar alternatives: 1. Raw Honey Raw honey is one of the best natural sweeteners since it also provides health benefits for your mind and body. Honey is made from the nectar of flowers and is collected by honey bees. Honey contains eighty percent natural sugar, eighteen percent water and two percent of minerals, vitamins, pollen and proteins. Ingredients: Rice: 1 cup (washed and soaked for 30 minutes) Water : 4 cups Lemon juice (1 tsp) Salt (1 tsp)( optional) Method: 1. Set water to boil at medium heat. 2. Strain the soaked rice and transfer to boiling water. 3. Add salt and stir. 4. If you want to know how to lose weight, ask a thin person, not a doctor, & not a fat person who has lost weight. Because fat people usually regain it back. Sorry to say it, but it is true 95% of the time. Weight loss is easy if you eat right for your blood type. The major cause of obesity is a diet lacking minerals. Most food today lacks adequate minerals for the body to process the food. Thus, the body burns the "empty" food, partially, due to a lack of "balance" in the food. Like a kerosene lamp gets "smokey" when the balance of oxygen is not right. Drink liquid minerals to add the missing minerals to your "anemic" food. Drink 3 glasses of carrot, ginger, garlic, celery juice each day. Notice the skin on my face is tan orange from all the carrots. But he reaches a broader audience by making frequent media appearances on TV programs like The Doctor Oz Show), writing for The Huffington Post and urging for change in health care policy. He is also the author of eight New York Times bestsellers. His latest book, The Blood Sugar Solution 10-Day Detox Diet: Activate Your Body's Natural Ability to Burn Fat and Lose Weight Quickly, promises to fast place readers in the path to wellness. We decided his brain to know how. What exactly does "detoxing" have to do with losing weight? Most folks that are overweight are dependent on food. You have to cleanse your body and replace them with healthy ones, if you need to get rid of excess weight. Throughout the last decade we have learned that sugar and processed carbs are essentially as addictive as cocaine and heroin. MRIs show that the same areas in the mind light up just like a Christmas tree when any of these materials are consumed. In fact, in animal studies, rats prefer sugar they'll continue despite getting electrical shocks to drink sugar water. Can you be a food enthusiast in the event you're not big-boned? Absolutely. They will have high blood glucose, high triglycerides, high LDL cholesterol (the "bad" kind), and low HDL cholesterol (the "great" kind) and they commonly have a tiny bit of extra belly fat despite being slim total. Are there other indications you might need to detox from unhealthy foods? Yes. I call it FLC -- feel like poop -- syndrome. It is defined by symptoms for example sugar cravings, sluggishness, moodiness, regular headaches, sinus problem and digestive dilemmas like bloating, gas and constipation. You advocate eliminating numerous foods, including those containing dairy product and gluten. Why? I think liquid calories -- meaning soda along with sugar-sweetened iced tea, coffee drinks, etc. -- aren't good because they're correlated to obesity more than anything else. They are even worse than sweet foods because they do not make you feel as full and the sugar gets consumed very rapidly. That causes a quick spike in insulin, so you get and store more fat. Is diet soda better? No. It may even not be better, as it's been linked to an increased danger of diabetes. Artificial sweeteners activate all of the sweet receptors in the mind and trigger hormones which make you keep fat and slow your metabolism. During the last decade we've learned that sugar and refined carbs are basically as addictive as cocaine and heroin. Entire, fresh foods, including many based like seeds, nuts, fruits and vegetables.
