Shingles is a painful rash that is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, the virus that also causes chickenpox. Neurontin is also used in combination with other medications to treat partial seizures. Neurontin belongs to a group of drugs called anticonvulsants, which help treat seizures by decreasing abnormal excitement in the brain. It also works by altering the way the body senses pain. This medication comes in tablet, capsule, and oral (by mouth) solution forms and is taken up to 3 times a day, with or without food. The capsules are taken with a full glass of water. Common side effects of Neurontin include dizziness, lack of coordination, and drowsiness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how Neurontin affects you.

Lyrica and its relative Neurontin or gabapentin are widely overprescribed for pain related disorders. Although approved for treating pain after shingles, evidence for their benefit remains quite sketchy. Gabapentin now ranks as one of the top drugs of abuse with at least 50% or people abusing opioids like hydrocodone and oxycodone simultaneously taking these “johnnies” or “gabbies.” In fatal drug overdoses, gabapentin often appears as a contributing factor.

Gabapentin/Neurontin, is a medication used primarily for seizure disorders and pain associated with the nerves. It can be used for nerve pain related to the herpes virus or shingles. It is also commonly used by diabetics who have suffered nerve pain. I find that this medication continues to work wonder for me, even after daily use for 3+ years. It helps prevent my migraines (at least it seems to) and once I have one, it helps the dull the pain. It also has help with occasional back pain problems. It has been a life saver for my insomnia. I am able to cope better with my day to day task because this medication helps me cope with my Clinical Depression, of which has haunted me since the passing of my father. There is no such thing as a miracle pill or a miracle cure for anything, but this medication has been a huge help for me over the years. Thanks for reading/watching my video.

Postherpetic neuralgia is a nerve pain due to damage caused by the varicella zoster virus. Typically, the neuralgia is confined to a dermatomic area of the skin and follows an outbreak of herpes zoster (commonly known as shingles) in that same dermatomic area. The neuralgia typically begins when the herpes zoster vesicles have crusted over and begun to heal, but it can begin in the absence of herpes zoster, in which case zoster sine herpete is presumed (see Herpes zoster). Treatment options for postherpetic neuralgia include antidepressants, anticonvulsants (such as gabapentin, pregabalin, or topiramate), gabapentin enacarbil (a prodrug of gabapentin) and topical agents such as lidocaine patches or capsaicin lotion. Opioid analgesics may also be appropriate in many situations. There are some sporadically successful experimental treatments, such as rhizotomy (severing or damaging the affected nerve to relieve pain) and TENS (a type of electrical pulse therapy). Can you get high on gabapentin | gabapentin high experience Subscribe To Get New Videos Daily: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCi1zZ8_Q7yqKInXImLCLfXw EFFECT OF GABAPENTIN ON THE BRAIN: Gabapentin is a drug used primarily to treat symptoms like seizures and epilepsies. It has also been approved by the Food and Drug Administration of the United States. The drug has been promoted under the brands Horizant, and Neurontin. The drug is sometimes used as a pain reliever for neurotic pain caused by some diseases like shingles. However, unlike other pain relievers, Gabapentin is neither an opiate nor a narcotic. Hence, the threat of its abuse or misuse has been disregarded for years. Nevertheless, drug agencies are starting to get alarmed by reports that this once thought to be harmless drug is starting to become a nationwide problem. Data have shown that there may be a growing trend in the recreational of Gabapentin. EUPHORIC EFFECTS OF GABAPENTIN: Some Gabapentin users have reported that by taking a high dosage of the drug, one can have a similar “high” effect as marijuana. There are also some testimonies that the drug has helped them become more sociable in large groups of people. Another potential effect of Gabapentin is a sense of relaxation, or sedation which attracts many drug abusers. When used alongside other depressants, a user can experience high levels of sedation. This is not recommended as it may result in deadly side effects such as cardiac arrest if done improperly. Gabapentin has a low toxicity level compared to other drugs like heroin or morphine. However, there have been instances that people taking the drug for recreational purposes resulted in an overdose. Why IS THE RECREATIONAL USE OF GABAPENTIN BECOMING POPULAR? Since it was approved as a pain reliever for the pain caused by shingles in 2002, the prescription and purchase of Gabapentin has increased exponentially. Many blame the lack of restrictions on the drug. However, some argue that there may be other factors affecting its popularity among recreational users. Here are some possible reasons why the drug’s recreational use have been increasing in the past years: Affordability: Gabapentin is significantly cheaper compared to other abused drugs. The average cost of each pill will cost a person merely 60 cents. It can also be bought in varying dosages such as 100 mg, 300 mg, and 400 mg. Drug Withdrawal: Some doctors prescribe Gabapentin to persons undergoing drug rehabilitation to combat some of the withdrawal symptoms that they are experiencing. Sadly, some people end up shifting their addiction to Gabapentin instead. Accessibility: Being non-narcotic Gabapentin is not classified as a controlled substance by the FDA. Thus, anyone can obtain it with a simple prescription from their doctor. Lesser Side Effects: While Gabapentin may have lesser side effects compared to other drugs, it worth noting that there still have been instances where patients died due to overdose. Gabapentin is seen as a miracle drug by some people experiencing seizures and epilepsies. Some may have found a recreational use for it; however, it is still highly unadvisable to abuse it. Always consult your doctor before taking this drug, and remember only to take as much as your doctor has prescribed you. How Long Should I Take Gabapentin For Nerve Pain | Gabapentin Nerve Pain Dosage Subscribe To Get New Videos Daily: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCi1zZ8_Q7yqKInXImLCLfXw First, we must consider the different neuropathic pain types. Neuropathic pain can be diverse in nature, encompassing a wide range of pain types, including post-herpetic neuralgia, painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and painful cancer-related neuropathies. Gabapentin has been shown to be beneficial in treating several types of neuropathic pain; however, the mechanism of action by which gabapentin exerts its analgesic effect is still unknown. It is suggested that gabapentin may block the calcium channel alpha delta receptor in the brain. This protein-modulated receptor is involved in excitatory synapse formation. Therefore, the therapeutic effects of gabapentin may be attributed to prevention of new synapse formations. Gabapentin was shown to offer substantial improvement in neuropathic pain with side effects that were similar to those on placebo. Even with sufficient data supporting the use of gabapentin in the treatment of various neuropathic pain conditions, gabapentin only has Food and Drug Administration approval for PHN. Dosing recommendations for off-label use of gabapentin can be somewhat ambiguous, if a recommendation exists at all. Therefore, several studies further investigate dosing regimens specific to other neuropathic pain syndromes. Gabapentin Dosing Considerations: Three gabapentin products are FDA approved to treat PHN. The different formulations cannot be interchanged and each has its own dosing schedule. For immediate-release gabapentin, dosing may be initiated with 300 mg on day 1, doubled on day 2, and tripled on day 3 . The dose can then be titrated up as needed for pain relief to a maximum dose of 1,800 mg daily. Clinical studies referenced in the package insert state that efficacy for a range of doses from 1,800 mg/day to 3,600 mg/day were observed; however, there was no additional benefit seen with doses greater than 1,800 mg/d. Gralise is an extended-release gabapentin formulation that also is FDA approved for PHN with a titration schedule that begins with 300 mg on day 1; 600 mg on day 2; 900 mg on days 3 to 6; 1,200 mg on days 7 to 10; 1,500 mg on days 11 to 14; and 1,800 mg on day 15 and thereafter. The third gabapentin formulation for PHN treatment is another extended-release product, Horizant. The starting dose is 600 mg in the morning for 3 days, increased to 600 mg twice daily on day 4 and thereafter. A daily dose of Horizant greater than 1,200 mg provided no additional benefit at the expense of side effects. Neurontin, Gabapentin and Lyrica is a Death sentence to new brain synapses and can lead to suicidal thoughts http://fibromyalgiaresources.com/neurontin-lyrica-death-sentence-new-brain-synapses/ and http://medsnews.com/health/neurontin-and-lyrica-two-treatments-for-pain-that-can-lead-to-suicidal-thoughts/ If you aren’t on this medication, chances are you know someone who is. It’s used to treat everything from pain to mood disorders and can be just what the doctor ordered for many. But now, there is mounting research uncovering misuse of and even a black market for this popular prescription. We’re talking about gabapentin. It’s approved for some types of seizures and nerve pain. Doctors also use it off-label to treat everything from insomnia to migraines to anxiety. Sixty-four million prescriptions of it were sold in the U.S. in 2016, up more than 60% from four years earlier. The thing is, experts say there is growing evidence it’s being abused, too. It’s even being sold on the streets under the name “Johnnys.” Dr. Joseph Insler, an addiction psychiatrist, says he’s seeing it all too often. “Sometimes, I've even experienced patients ask me for their “Johnnys” and then they'll, maybe, catch themselves and say, ‘No, no, no. I mean gabapentin',” he says. Why is this prescription being misused? “I think that some individuals may say that they use it to get high, and others may say they use it and get a drowsy effect. So, we're talking about the euphoria versus sedation, “ says Rachel Vickers Smith, Ph.D. Dr Vickers Smith wrote her dissertation on gabapentin abuse when studying drug abusers in Appalachia. “We found a nearly 3000 percent increase from 2008 to about 2014 in individuals reporting gabapentin abuse for the purposes of getting high,” she says. We wanted to see for ourselves, so we searched online. We easily found people talking about taking “Johnnys”, or gabapentin, to get high. There were also threads of people trying to spread awareness about the abuse. Experts say gabapentin is typically misused by substance abusers who mix it with other drugs. But, Dr. Insler says it’s also possible for people with legitimate prescriptions to misuse, too. He says, “If somebody’s taking excessively high doses or needing early refills” or if their mood changes, family members or clinicians should see these signs as red flags. A growing body of research shows the problem of abuse, especially among substance abusers is clear. But some experts also worry about the number of prescriptions being handed out. A recent New England Journal of Medicine letter warned that “clinicians who are desperate for alternatives to opioids” are “increasingly prescribing gabapentin” and that “evidence suggests that some patients misuse, abuse or divert gabapentin.” http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp1704633?rss=mostEmailed&#t=article Dr Rachel Vickers Smith says, “ I think that's why it's really important to get out the message,” about abuse, in general. Gabapentin is not a controlled substance or scheduled drug on the Federal level. We reached out to several government agencies. There was little information on potential abuse although the National Institute on Drug Abuse pointed us to existing research and the DEA says it is beginning to receive calls. Dr Vickers Smith says, “ I don't think that gabapentin abuse is on the CDC, DEA’s, NIDA’s radar, in part because we had this opioid epidemic.” All experts we talked to stress that this is NOT the next opioid epidemic, but they believe gabapentin abuse is something to watch closely and believe more research is needed. We contacted two of the manufacturers of gabapentin, including Pfizer, which told us, “Gabapentin is an important treatment option for their approved indications”.

Does Gabapentin Cause Weight Gain ? Gabapentin Weight Gain, Why and How ? Subscribe To Get New Videos Daily: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCi1zZ8_Q7yqKInXImLCLfXw With the help of other medications, Gabapentin is used to prevent and treat seizures. This drug has also been proven effective in treating neuropathic pain from shingles in adults. However, some people have also been taking Gabapentin for its non-official uses such as migraines and insomnia. It works through the increase of production of GABA, a neurotransmitter acting as nerve-calming agent. At the same time, it inhibits the release of glutamate, a neurotransmitter which “excites” other nerve cells. This is believed to be the reason behind epileptic seizures as well as transmitting pain signals the brain. GABAPENTIN AND WEIGHT GAIN: In a research conducted by DeToledo et al., twenty-eight patients who had seizure disorder received high dosages of Gabapentin amounting to greater than three thousand milligrams a day continuously for at least 12 months. Until today, there is no research proving the drug Gabapentin cause weight gain. In fact, the same experiment shows that three of the people experimented on even lost weight. This may seem to be only the case for a slim minority, but weight increase was very prominent for the majority only during the second to third months of the treatment. In the onset eighth and ninth months, most patients stabilized. WHY DO A LOT OF PEOPLE REPORT WEIGHT GAIN WITH GABAPENTIN? What those people experience is only a result of the side effects of Gabapentin and not of Gabapentin itself. Here are the most common ways how Gabapentin’s side effects can cause weight gain. Fatigue: A common side effect of Gabapentin, fatigue can result to engaging in less physical activities. Slower Metabolism: Along with the decrease in glutamate, an increase in GABA reduces physiological arousal which in turn leads to weight gain. FACTORS LEADING TO WEIGHT GAIN WITH GABAPENTIN: Physical Activities: It is important to note your physical activities before and during the treatment. Changes between the two may be the culprit behind your increased weight. Eating Habits: Although depending entirely on your genetics, diet is usually correlated with weight gain. Genetics: This dictates how your body will react to the drug, and what side effects you will. HOW CAN I PREVENT WEIGHT GAIN WITH GABAPENTIN? Gaining weight while taking Gabapentin is not something to worry about. Unless you have become excessively overweight or morbidly obese, then you can rest assured that this is just something normal when using the drug. Nevertheless, it is understandable that some people are very conscious when it comes to their figure. It may be because of an underlying health problem, or simply because it makes them more comfortable. Gabapentin may gain you a few extra inches, but the benefit that it can give you far outweighs it. Just remember to exercise more and eat healthier. https://www.drug.education/anticonvulsants/gabapentin-cause-weight-gain/ Music: https://www.bensound.com Watch Popular Videos : Is Gabapentin An Opioid ? https://youtu.be/jxlUvSd56sg The Best Exercises To Firm And Lift Your Sagging Breasts https://youtu.be/PxBT8yEqe_4 Top 10 Root Vegetables You Should Eat More Often https://youtu.be/wPfHuezTX3U She Applies Honey On Her Vagina And Results Will Shock You https://youtu.be/PT0W8He6n8s Indian Government Allocates 600 Crores Monster Moolah For TB Patients https://youtu.be/OSADBZHYzIM How Does Gabapentin Work? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKL8MmgCVnY Natural Alternatives to 05 of the Most Common Drugs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LitSN3MhOxY Find Us on Social Media : https://pinterest.com/susanbuck21/ https://selfhealthcures.blogspot.com https://selfhealthcures.tumblr.com Health Disclaimer: The information on this channel is only for educational purposes. Shingles (also known as herpes zoster) is a painful skin rash that develops from the varicella-zoster virus, which is also the virus that causes chickenpox. Once a person has come in contact or been afflicted with chickenpox, the virus remains within the body. During adulthood, the virus can reactivate within the nerves and cause the development of shingles. Shingles is most common in older adults who have weakened immune systems due to stress, medication, injury, or other medical conditions. It is estimated that one in four people in the U.S. will be affected by shingles at some point in their lifetime. Can Shingles Cause Chronic Pain and Other Complications of Shingles

Over the long journey of suffering from lower back pain, I've been through more than a handful of medications and I have found some helpful and others not so helpful. In this video, I explain several of the medications that I took and the one's that I found most helpful. The biggest thing with a disc bulge injury is that the disc that is protruding places pressure on the nerve roots. Ultimately, this results in a sharp pain and inflammation will eventually build up around the injured area. In order to treat the symptoms of pain and inflammation, their are several medications that may be prescribed to an individual. In my case, I was prescribed several different medications including Ibuprofen, Lyrica, Nucynta, Tylenol 3, and novo-moloxicam. The medications I found to be most effective and helpful for treating my symptoms of pain and inflammation were Ibuprofen and Tylenol 3. Also, I found Lyrica to be somewhat helpful at times as well. As for the other medications, I didn't' find them as helpful but that could of been for a number of reasons such as the dosage not being high enough. Additionally, in this video, I explain some of the side effects I experienced with taking several of these drugs including Lyrica.
