Plant Growth Experiment

03:57
This is an experiment to determine what effect human supplements of mega vitamins and minerals has on plants. See: http://auldaney.blogspot.com conducted an experiment many years ago and found that fertilizer made plants grown larger and more full. This experiment was done over about a month, it produced negative results with fertilizer, however I believe I used too much. It made the plant grow long vertically. When I used that same pot the spider plant turned black. However, I found that the one with only water, the Control did better. The one with the human supplements was dramatic. The plant grew wider, with larger leaves. This supports my theory that there was more elements in the soil before the Flood of Noah, when plants, humans, and animals grew larger, were healthier, and live 10 times as long. This fact is also supported by the fact that dinosaurs, which us creation scientists believe lived with man before the Flood, had almost no diseases according to secular paleopathology research. Wounds and broken bones were found, but only two minor cases of arthritis.

Vitamin D - Improve Cognitive Performance and Mood (but Don't Take Too Much)

06:54
READ MORE HERE: https://goo.gl/oFZtmU Instagram: http://bit.ly/2n7nXqo Facebook: http://bit.ly/2mQbtl4 When someone tells you that getting sunlight is good for your health, they aren’t lying. The primary benefit of sunlight is vitamin D. Often referred to as “the sunlight vitamin”, it is currently one of the most underutilized nutritional supplements for cognitive and physical health. The majority of people in the western world live in regions where sunlight is inconsistent during many months of the year. Because of this, supplementation (whether via fish products or pure vitamin D supplements) is often advised. The benefits of vitamin D are plenty, but the brain is one of the biggest benefactors. Studies show increased cognitive abilities with adequate vitamin D, there is evidence vitamin D regulates serotonin and thus influences anxiety and depression. Benefits of Vitamin D The benefits of vitamin D range from enhancing cognitive performance to reducing neurological decline and even supporting healthier mood (reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression). One animal study showed that long-term treatment of vitamin D could help slow the rate of decline in the hippocampus (where memories are stored) showing promising neuroprotective effects. This may be one of the correlations between vitamin D and neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s. Some studies show that vitamin D supplementation could reduce symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and there is an inverse relationship between serum vitamin D and risk of Alzheimer’s disease. The same inverse relationship exists with Parkinson’s disease. Unfortunately, when adults were tested (who had sufficient vitamin D levels), the addition of 5000 IU of vitamin D failed to influence any cognitive indicators]. Therefore, some could conclude that vitamin D is a liability when one is deficient, but is not necessarily much of a cognitive asset in high quantities. Of course, one of the main benefits of vitamin D is related to mood and particularly anxiety and depression. One study showed that depressed adults deficient in vitamin D were able to decrease symptoms by 42%. There seems to be ample evidence against this hypothesis as well, but recent research shows a potential mechanism for improved mood and reduced anxiety. In a 2014 dated study, Dr. Rhonda Patrick showed that vitamin D is required for regulating serotonin. While her study focused on how this might help reduce symptoms of autism, it is nevertheless interesting given the context of mood and reduced anxiety.

Can You Solve This?

Can you figure out the rule? Did you see the exponents pattern? http://youtu.be/AVB8vRC6HIY Why do you make people look stupid? http://bit.ly/12Fmlpl How do you investigate hypotheses? Do you seek to confirm your theory - looking for white swans? Or do you try to find black swans? I was startled at how hard it was for people to investigate number sets that didn't follow their hypotheses, even when their method wasn't getting them anywhere. In the video I say "when people came to Australia..." by which I meant, "when Europeans who believed all swans were white came to Australia..." I did not mean any offence to Indigenous Australians who were already in Australia at that time. Please accept my apologies for the poor phrasing if you were offended by it. This video was inspired by The Black Swan by Nassim Taleb and filmed by my mum. Thanks mum! Partly my motivation came from responses to my Facebook videos - social media marketers saying 'Facebook ads have worked for me so there can't be fake likes.' Just because you have only seen white swans, doesn't mean there are no black ones. And in fact marketers are only looking for white swans. They think it was invalid of me to make the fake Virtual Cat page: 'well of course if it's a low quality page you're going to get low quality likes.' But my point is this is black swan bait, something they would never make because their theory is confident in the exclusive existence of white swans.

Vitamin D not flu shots

07:41
Another influenza season is beginning, and the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will strongly urge Americans to get a flu shot. In fact, the CDC mounts a well-orchestrated campaign each season to generate interest and demand for flu shots. But a recent study published in the October issue of the Archives of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine found that vaccinating young children against the flu appeared to have no impact on flu-related hospitalizations or doctor visits during two recent flu seasons. At first glance, the data did suggest that children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years derived some protection from vaccination in these years. But after adjusting for potentially relevant variables, the researchers concluded that "significant influenza vaccine effectiveness could not be demonstrated for any season, age, or setting" examined. Additionally, a Group Health study found that flu shots do not protect elderly people against developing pneumonia -- the primary cause of death resulting as a complication of the flu. Others have questioned whether there is any mortality benefit with influenza vaccination. Vaccination coverage among the elderly increased from 15 percent in 1980 to 65 percent now, but there has been no decrease in deaths from influenza or pneumonia. There is some evidence that flu shots cause Alzheimers disease, most likely as a result of combining mercury with aluminum and formaldehyde. Mercury in vaccines has also been implicated as a cause of autism. Three other serious adverse reactions to the flu vaccine are joint inflammation and arthritis, anaphylactic shock (and other life-threatening allergic reactions), and Guillain-Barré syndrome, a paralytic autoimmune disease. One credible hypothesis that explains the seasonal nature of flu is that influenza is a vitamin D deficiency disease. Vitamin D levels in your blood fall to their lowest point during flu seasons. Unable to be protected by the bodys own antibiotics (antimicrobial peptides) that are released by vitamin D, a person with a low vitamin D blood level is more vulnerable to contracting colds, influenza, and other respiratory infections. Studies show that children with rickets, a vitamin D-deficient skeletal disorder, suffer from frequent respiratory infections, and children exposed to sunlight are less likely to get a cold. The increased number of deaths that occur in winter, largely from pneumonia and cardiovascular diseases, are most likely due to vitamin D deficiency. Unfortunately, now, for the first time, flu vaccination is also being pushed for virtually all children -- not just those under 5. This is a huge change. Previously, flu vaccine was recommended only for youngsters under 5, who can become dangerously ill from influenza. This year, the government is recommending that children from age 6 months to 18 years be vaccinated, expanding inoculations to 30 million more school-age children. The government argues that while older children seldom get as sick as the younger ones, it's a bigger population that catches flu at higher rates, so the change should cut missed school, and parents' missed work when they catch the illness from their children. Of course, this policy ignores the fact that a systematic review of 51 studies involving 260,000 children age 6 to 23 months found no evidence that the flu vaccine is any more effective than a placebo. HEALTHY NATURAL PET FOOD- What to feed your dog to be healthy

26:28
Best diet for dogs -Markus Rothkranz interviews Dr. Ruza Bogdanovich, author of "Love your Pet, Let Nature be the Vet". Raw food is the food pets are designed for and should have to help them heal and live healthy long lives. http://www.MarkusNews.com A great vide for natural pet care and what to feed your dog or cat. What are the best natural dog food or natural cat food? Is it healthy to have a vegan dog or vegan cat? How about vegetarian dog or vegetarian cat? How do you heal cats naturally or healing dogs naturally? Learn about holistic pet care and what is a healthy dog diet that helps pet detox and natural cures. http://www.MarkusNews.com The best way to keep animals healthy is to keep them as natural as possible. They perform better in the outdoors. They need to walk on the dirt to benefit from the microbes. They need the sunlight just like we do. Your pet should eat as much raw foods as possible, stay away from Kibbles and certainly stay away from sugar. These guidelines have been proven to be effective. If you love your pet you will consider them. Raw food is best, including raw bones which don’t splinter, ….but a food with no corn or grain of any kind and meat as the first ingredient and raw vegetables is better than most. http://www.petmd.com/dog/nutrition/evr_dg_the_best_food_for_dogs?page=2 Veterinary nutrition specialist Dan Carey, currently works in Research and Development at The Iams Company: Look at the dog food labels. In the GUARANTEED ANALYSIS look for the Protein content to be at least 30 percent, the Fat to be at least 18 percent, preservatives to be via Vitamin E and/or C and look for Omega Fatty Acid to be present. Supplementation can be harmful, especially calcium supplementation to a pregnant bitch. If a good quality dog food is being fed no special supplementation should be needed. If a supplement is required to make the dog look or feel better or whelp healthier pups, you should instead change the food. http://jn.nutrition.org/content/136/7/1927S.full Abstract. Conclusion. When feeding, domestic cats and domestic dogs both display the legacy of their origins in the Carnivora. This is especially true for cats, where narrow nutritional requirements have resulted in the retention of much of the behavioral repertoire of their wild ancestor, including hunting, but also sexual behavior. Pets need to walk on the dirt to acquire microbes and other bacteria. https://thewholedog.com/sbo-probiotics-for-pets/ Dr. Jeannie Thomason, VND Soil Based Organisms have always been a natural part of our animal’s flora. When wild or feral dogs, wolves, even horses and birds, eat from the ground they are naturally getting soil based organisms on whatever they are eating on the ground; and of course they are teaming with micro flora and bacteria that were in turn found to be protecting and nourishing the grasses and plants. These same micro flora and bacteria proved to have a profound probiotic effect in the animal’s intestinal tract. Doctor recommends not vaccinate your pets https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16220670 Abstract.CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Young adult small-breed neutered dogs that received multiple vaccines per office visit were at greatest risk of a VAAE within 72 hours after vaccination. These factors should be considered in risk assessment and risk communication with clients regarding vaccination. You should keep sugar away from your pets https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2235907/ Abstract….The evidence supports the hypothesis that under certain circumstances rats can become sugar dependent. Beadle and Tatum experiment animation mcgraw hill

The Beadle-Tatum experiment for the isolation of genetic mutants in Neurospora. Spores were irradiated to induce mutations (step 1) and allowed to grow into colonies in tubes containing supplemented medium (step 2). Genetically identical spores produced by the colonies were then tested for their ability to grow on either supplemented or minimal medium (step 3). Those that failed to grow on minimal medium were mutants, and the task was to identify the mutant gene. In the example shown in step 4, a sample of mutant cells was found to grow in the minimal medium supplemented with vitamins, but would not grow in medium supplemented with amino acids. This observation indicates a deficiency in an enzyme leading to the formation of a vitamin. In step 5, growth of these same cells in minimal medium supplemented with one or another of the vitamins indicates the deficiency resides in a gene involved in the formation of pantothenic acid (part of coenzyme A).

Benefits Of Hemp Seed Oil For Skin And Hair

03:44
In this video, I am going to share with you Benefits Of Hemp Seed Oil For Skin And Hair. Hemp oil is the oil extracted from seeds of the Cannabis plant. Hemp seeds are rich in protein, polyunsaturated fatty acids, omega 6, omega 3 and insoluble fiber. They are a good source of tocopherols or Vitamin E antioxidants, They're packed with minerals such as potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc, calcium, and phosphorus, plus microelements like strontium, thorium, arsenic and chromium. As an incredibly nourishing oil for the skin on many levels, it plumps the look of your skin, firms and tightens and provides a powerful antioxidant activity to help promote beautiful skin and hair. hemp oil can prevent moisture loss in the skin and help prevent premature aging and is effective in maintaining moisture balance. It can also be useful in alleviating certain skin conditions such as eczema, acne, and psoriasis. Hemp oil also helps to enhance the growth of hair on the scalp in a number of ways. Among these is the Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9 fatty acids, which are necessary for stimulating growth. The oil also improves blood circulation on the scalp, which ensures that the hair follicles are nourished enough to support hair growth. watch this video to learn more. ----------------------------------- If you really find our tips useful and interesting, please share on twitter, Facebook and Google+ to spread the word. Vitamin Supplements, Gluten Free and Buckwheat Diets: The Good, The Bad and The Deadly

14:55
In this video, I tackle three pretty common questions. Most people take some sort of vitamin supplement. It's a common question asked when fasting or eating LCHF as well. So how much benefit are we really getting from them? Gluten-Free is a very popular and mainstream diet and way of life for many. But if you don't have a disorder that requires restricting gluten then are you benefiting from this diet? And the buckwheat diet is also pretty popular now and many people consider it a "Superfood". How Vitamin C Fights Cancer

56:49
Vitamin C is commonly understood to be an antioxidant. The National Institutes of Health has replicated research done at The Center for the Improvement of Human Functioning which shows that very high blood levels of vitamin C can act as a pro-drug that forms hydrogen peroxide at doses lethal to cancer cells. This pro-oxidant effect is best achieved by intravenous administration of vitamin C. New findings suggest that high oral doses of vitamin C used in conjunction with "redox cyclers" may support and enhance the effect of IVC against cancer. ---------- Presenter: Ron Hunninghake, M.D. Download: http://riordanclinic.org/videos/lectures/3429_How_Vitamin_C_Fights_Cancer.mp4 ---------- The Riordan Clinic is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization focused on orthomolecular medicine, health education and health research. How Does Do Science? │ Figuring out what's true

18:52
About... how we can learn about the world, how to test hypothesis, and the basics of science. What is science? Previously titled- "How does do science?" SIDE NOTES / OUTTAKES/ ADDITIONAL STUFF Concerning Universal Ideas If the pen falls just once, then it has instantly falsified all other “universal” actions the pen could take. The pen can’t always go up, we’ve falsified that idea. So if there is a universal idea about the behaviour as the pen, can we deduce it as verified then maybe? Maybe, but we can’t assume that this is a universal idea. If in space the pen wouldn’t fall and this idea is untrue. How about more simply :”gravity will always work”? But I think we then have to verify the idea that… there are universal phenomena. Just because we’ve never seen something go against these basic phenomena and the rules we build about them (I don’t know of any documented examples to the counter of this). But this one truly is unfalsifiable idea I think. Concerning vague hypothesis There are so many kinds of hypothesis. “Carrots can shrink lumps”. One kind of carrot shrinks all kinds of lumps? All kinds of carrots shrink one kind of lump? Why don’t we take the hypothesis: “carrots shrink most lumps”, or “carrots can shrink some lumps”? It’s because these are very vague visions of the world. We can shift how we think about our data to either verify or falsify them. And if we do verify or falsify them, really what have we learned? Like with horoscopes. I pulled this out of the Globe and Mail: “Some people have been rather critical of you in recent weeks but over the next few days you will be able to show that you were right and they were wrong. They won’t thank you for it, of course, but you will be smiling.” So if anybody said anything wrong about you, even a little, the first idea is verified in your mind. And the second part as long as you feel like you’re right at some point in the next few days, even a little, that part of the horoscope is verified in your mind. And your mind may further justify it like, “maybe it happened and I missed it”. Although we do it day to day because it could be useful. If rain sometimes comes after thunder then we just put away horse meat regardless and we’ll be doing ok. How about the hypothesis that carrots shrink 90% of lump? This is more concrete. Kind of like hypothesizing that a dice will role a five 1/6th of the time. But it’s different in the case with lump, because we don’t know what the “dice” look like. “Carrots only shrink 90% of lumps” without observational basis for it is a strange hypothesis. Maybe if we consistently see carrots only shrinking 90% of lumps we could hold that an observation and investigate. With actual dice, there is observational basis to hold the idea. Concerning quantum physics Quantum physics may be a world where detecting the thing, changes what is observed on a fundamental level. Not just an interfering detection method like… trying to detect the position of a bus by throwing buses at it. It’s apparently a much more fundamental observation quirk. But it is so in predictable and repeatable ways. The fact that observing, affects what we see… would just be the observation in this case. The apparent effect of the observation is the observation. …..although maybe I just don’t understand quantum physics. Concerning Objective Truth The brain in a vat thought experiment I think is meant to make us think that there may be no objective truth. You know, don't even assume what you see is the same as what others see. I really hesitated to ever show the outside world (with the white background) and wanted the "truth" or "facts" to always be in the golden circles as a construct in the mind. But I did show the outside world because I feel like it's how we think about the world. I think you could go your whole life never thinking about how the world is only experienced by your brain, never thinking about whether your experiences are genuine or the same as other people, and still come out fine. And what's the alternative? Making reality whatever you want? We can go ride a walrus to an ice cream tree. Concerning other kinds of “brain pictures” There’s other concepts and thoughts and ideas we can have like fantasy and fiction. And other sentences we can build like questions or commands. Not just statements and ideas about the way the world is. Our brains also do more than look at and build concepts of the world. Like make us move around and eat spray cheese. Does time work differently in different languages? - Hopi Time

08:31
Whorf ignited a controversy when he claimed the Hopi don't speak or think about time the way Europeans do. Malotki wrote 600 pages to prove him wrong. Come explore Sapir-Whorf and Hopi Time! Do speakers of different languages have different concepts of time? Subscribe for language: https://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=NativLang Be my patron: https://www.patreon.com/user?u=584038 ~ BRIEFLY ~ After years of studying Hopi, one linguist wrote a whole book focusing on just one thing about the language: it's full of ways of talking about time. Of all things, why time? Decades earlier, Whorf studied Hopi. Building on his mentor Sapir's ideas about language, thought and culture, he drew a provocative conclusion. Comparing Hopi to European languages, he told us that the Hopi have a vastly different notion of "time". To simplify, the Hopi think about time differently because they speak Hopi. Hopi became the poster child for linguistic relativity or "Sapir-Whorf", the idea that language shapes your thoughts or even determines how you think about time. Watch as the big fish claims about Hopi time grow. See why Malotki and other detractors dismiss them. Then explore the resurgence Whorfian ideas about language from curious cases of fieldwork on the ground and results from the lab. Finally, meet the curious case of Yucatec, a tenseless language. In the end, we'll see that languages do talk about time differently, but getting people to act as if they have fundamentally different concepts of time. ~ CREDITS ~ Art, narration, animation and some of the music by Josh from NativLang Sources for claims and credits for imgs, music and sfx: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Jo0LZ6rcLpXfmd7yekZDCce_cGLA9T6PZa6rsXIDFmI/

In some animals, and in humans, the oxidation of xanthine to uric acid, a process of purine catabolism, is catalyzed by xanthine oxidase, a molybdenum-containing enzyme. The activity of xanthine oxidase is directly proportional to the amount of molybdenum in the body. However, an extremely high concentration of molybdenum reverses the trend and can act as an inhibitor in both purine catabolism and other processes. Molybdenum concentrations also affect protein synthesis, metabolism and growth." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molybdenum#Biochemistry http://web.archive.org/web/20071018005253/http://hse.imoa.info/Default.asp?Page=110 See also, "Effects of molybdenum on pain and general health: A pilot study" By MARGARET MOSS MA http://www.encognitive.com/node/12179 ** more key factors: Glutamine! ** http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=nutrient&dbid=122 "Food sources of glutamine include most high-protein foods including beef, chicken, fish, beans, and dairy products." Nutrient Interactions: "One common way of making glutamine inside the body is by converting an amino acid called glutamic acid into glutamine. In order for this conversion to take place, a form of niacin -vitamin B3- is required. Glutamic acid is itself often synthesized though a complicated conversion reaction involving three additional molecules. This complex reaction requires vitamin B6 in order to occur. For these reasons, vitamins B3 and B6 can be regarded as helper nutrients when it comes to glutamine sufficiency in the body." Toxicity Symptoms: "Persons sensitive to monosodium glutamate (MSG) may also want to avoid glutamine supplements, since the body can convert glutamine into glutamate. For this same reason, people with epilepsy or bipolar disorder should use glutamine supplements with extreme caution." Good Fats, Bad Fats: Separating Fact From Fiction

18:25
This is a an eighteen-minute clip from my 2011 Wise Traditions lecture, "Good Fats, Bad Fats: Separating Fact From Fiction." You can purchase the full 85-minute lecture here: http://www.fleetwoodonsite.com/product_info.php?products_id=10838#.Ub97bOsd4jo This clip presents an analysis of the six randomized controlled trials testing the effect on heart disease of substituting polyunsaturated vegetable oils (oils rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids or PUFAs) for traditional animal fats and tropical oils. It includes a few laughs. The full lecture deals with several other fat-related topics, including the myth that arachidonic acid is inflammatory, and the myth recently promoted by the USDA that "solid fats" are empty calories that reduce nutrient density.
