On June 4, 1963, a little known attempt was made to strip the Federal Reserve Bank of its power to loan money to the government at interest. On that day President John F. Kennedy signed Executive Order No. 11110 that returned to the U.S. government the power to issue currency, without going through the Federal Reserve. Mr. Kennedy's order gave the Treasury the power "to issue silver certificates against any silver bullion, silver, or standard silver dollars in the Treasury." This meant that for every ounce of silver in the U.S. Treasury's vault, the government could introduce new money into circulation. In all, Kennedy brought nearly $4.3 billion in U.S. notes into circulation. The ramifications of this bill are enormous. With the stroke of a pen, Mr. Kennedy was on his way to putting the Federal Reserve Bank of New York out of business. If enough of these silver certificates were to come into circulation they would have eliminated the demand for Federal Reserve notes. This is because the silver certificates are backed by silver and the Federal Reserve notes are not backed by anything. Executive Order 11110 could have prevented the national debt from reaching its current level, because it would have given the government the ability to repay its debt without going to the Federal Reserve and being charged interest in order to create the new money. Executive Order 11110 gave the U.S. the ability to create its own money backed by silver. After Mr. Kennedy was assassinated just five months later, no more silver certificates were issued. The Final Call has learned that the Executive Order was never repealed by any U.S. President through an Executive Order and is still valid. Why then has no president utilized it? Virtually all of the nearly $6 trillion in debt has been created since 1963, and if a U.S. president had utilized Executive Order 11110 the debt would be nowhere near the current level. Perhaps the assassination of JFK was a warning to future presidents who would think to eliminate the U.S. debt by eliminating the Federal Reserve's control over the creation of money. Mr. Kennedy challenged the government of money by challenging the two most successful vehicles that have ever been used to drive up debt - war and the creation of money by a privately-owned central bank. His efforts to have all troops out of Vietnam by 1965 and Executive Order 11110 would have severely cut into the profits and control of the New York banking establishment. www.WhatReallyHappened.com

And there’s a good chance you’re one of the thousands of men and women who have watched my new presentation about “Kennedy Accounts.” In that brief presentation, I never fully reveal exactly what Kennedy Accounts are. If you ended up here, you are someone who prefers to know exactly what you’re getting into before signing up for anything. I appreciate and respect your discerning nature. After all, with the internet overflowing with scams, it’s hard to know who you can trust. But I assure you . . . I am not a scam, and Kennedy Accounts are not either. Not by a long shot. So today I’ll reveal exactly what these Kennedy Accounts are . . . and hopefully you’ll be convinced that joining my Total Wealth Insider newsletter and discovering my 5 favorite Kennedy Accounts is the best move for you. That’s why I’m recording this video. I wanted to create an easy way for you to find out everything you need to know about me and these Kennedy Accounts. In short, Kennedy Accounts are a form of direct stock purchase plans, commonly called DSPPs. More specifically, they are called dividend reinvestment plans, or DRIPs. How they work is relatively simply. Instead of going through a traditional broker to buy your stocks, like E*Trade, Scottrade, or Charles Schwab, you purchase your shares of stock directly from the company. So instead of buying a share of Coca-Cola from a middleman, you buy it directly from the Coca-Cola company. This saves you from having to pay a commission to buy your shares. So benefit number one is that you pay lower fees. Continuing this example, once you have purchased your shares, the next time Coca-Cola pays a dividend, they will automatically use your dividend payment to buy you more shares of Coca-Cola stock. Buying more shares of Coke generates more dividends, which means more buying shares, and so on. As you can tell, this process is like a snowball rolling downhill. It starts small, but quickly gets larger and larger in size. Your dividend payments will do the same thing over time. It’s truly astonishing. Now you are probably curious why I call them Kennedy Accounts and why you’ve likely never heard of them before. I call them Kennedy Accounts because this remarkable opportunity was passed into law by President John F. Kennedy. More precisely, they fulfilled his promise to ‘Get America Moving Again’ and spur the economy by allowing direct investments into American companies. Right now, there are over 1200 companies that meet the requirements to qualify as “Kennedy Accounts.” And the reason you’ve likely never heard of Kennedy Accounts before will likely anger you: when these investments were passed into law, Wall Street lobbied the government to ensure that the companies that offer these plans were forbidden from advertising them. If you stop to think about it . . . it makes sense why Wall Street hopes you never find out about Kennedy Accounts . . . because it allows you to completely cut them out of the picture. To help you get started with this unique opportunity, I’ve identified the top 5 dividend reinvestment stocks available today . . . and I put all the details into a brand-new report. Thanks for taking a few minutes to learn more about me and the “Kennedy Accounts,” and I look forward to having you as a loyal subscriber. Earners keepers? According to Larry Kudlow, there's a secret history behind the US's history of tax reduction and it involves John F. Kennedy. Kudlow's latest book is "JFK and the Reagan Revolution: A Secret History of American Prosperity" (https://goo.gl/v3NDdQ). Read more at BigThink.com: http://bigthink.com/videos/larry-kudlow-on-economics-and-john-f-kennedy Follow Big Think here: YouTube: http://goo.gl/CPTsV5 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BigThinkdotcom Twitter: https://twitter.com/bigthink Transcript - The so-called liberal argument, which is probably more liberal today than it has been in many, many decades, they argue that we should have equality. Everybody should be equal. We should all make the same amount of money. We should all have the same assets and wealth. I don't believe that. I think that's fundamentally inimical to free market capitalism. I think that's a kind of Soviet East Europe old communist socialist model that has never worked. You can't make everybody equal. They tried to redistribute income and wealth rather than increase it. My credo here is instead of making the economic pie smaller and handing smaller pieces to everyone, let's make the pie bigger and get everybody a larger piece. And I think history has proven, really since the fall of Soviet communism, that that model of income leveling is a bad model. It's a model that doesn't work. It took seventy years for the Soviets to fall but they fell. And China, for example, the other big communist country, I won't say that they have fallen but they've changed their economy. It's now much more of a market oriented economy. In my judgment markets distributes goods. Markets set prices. And if there are free opportunities inside markets that's how people who work hard will do well. And I think the ethos in America is to work hard. That's always been where we are. In other words we all start at the same beginning, the starting line is the same. By law and tradition we should be prejudice free, color free, gender free, whatever. We all have the same legal starting line, but that doesn't mean we all finish at the finish line at the same and I think that's human nature. So we talk about this in the book, and in particular as you asked about tax policy, taxing rich people- at high confiscatory rates has never worked in this country. It's outside of our tradition. It's been tried a couple of times. F.D.R. tried it in the 1930s and it didn't work. Economy was no better in the late '30s than it was when he took over in 1932. The war spending did help, but the great new deal experiment failed. Read Full Transcript Here: https://goo.gl/k4lLGp.

This is a mini-documentary/exploration of JFK’s relationship with Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement. MLK’s most famous speech, “I Have a Dream”, wouldn’t have occurred had JFK had his way. Although a supporter of the Civil Rights Movement, John F. Trump released a list of his campaign's official economic advisers in August 2016, which was significantly anti-establishment and therefore included few people with any governmental experience, yet at the same time aimed to include some of the elites of business and finance, primarily people with well-known names. Although most of the names were new, existing Trump advisers David Malpass, Peter Navarro, Stephen Moore, and Dan DiMicco were also on the list, formally led by Stephen Miller, the national policy director, and directly led by deputy policy director Dan Kowalski. The Trump'16 finance director Steven Mnuchin was also listed, and played a role in helping coordinate the group. Many of the names on the original list, or on the subsequent expansions thereof, received media attention as potential cabinet-level appointees, for instance to the presidential Council of Economic Advisers, or in other Trump administration roles. After the election, Trump became president-elect, and in addition to nominating and appointing advisors to formal statutory roles within the Trump administration, also began working on efforts to directly communicate with business leaders, including those in the tech industry, in the broader business world, and in the agricultural sector. Trump's cabinet will have no economists after his decision in February 2017 to not include the chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers in his cabinet. Obama had elevated the chairman position to a cabinet rank during his administration. In December 2016, Trump put together a group, the 'President’s Strategic and Policy Forum', of business leaders to "frequently" advise him on economic matters around policies to encourage job growth and improve productivity. The group is chaired by Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, who recruited its members including CEOs of General Motors, JPMorgan, and Walmart. Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, was originally part of the group but resigned a day prior to its first meeting in response to pressure from his employees and customers in the wake of Trump's executive order on immigration. The Business Advisory Council disbanded in August 2017 as a consequence of Trump's comments surrounding the events in Charlottesville, Virginia earlier that month. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_policy_of_Donald_Trump

My research clearly suggests that the answer, contrary to popular belief, is no. In fact, the New Deal made matters worse. Let me explain. The centerpiece of Roosevelt’s New Deal plan to fix the economy was the National Industrial Recovery Act, or NIRA, which the President announced with great fanfare in June of 1933. FDR believed that he could use the government to artificially raise both prices and wages. It would work like this: higher prices would raise profits—that makes business happy; and higher wages would raise income—that makes workers happy. More profits for business means more money to hire new workers. Higher wages for workers means more money to buy consumer goods. A virtuous cycle is set into motion and the economy improves rapidly. But here’s what FDR missed: Artificially raising wages also raises labor costs. And when labor costs go up, business hires fewer workers or no workers at all, especially in a difficult economic environment. Meanwhile, artificially raising prices reduces demand for the obvious reason that people buy less of something when its price goes higher. So, why did FDR do this? FDR based his New Deal policy largely on what happened during World War I, which had ended only 15 years earlier, in 1918. During that war, the government established planning boards to set wages and prices, and economic activity increased. If it worked during wartime, FDR reasoned, it should work during peacetime. But Roosevelt confused the economic activity that was actually the result of inflated war demands as being due to government planning. The government, Roosevelt concluded, could much better manage the economy in a time of crisis than private enterprise, which, in his worldview, only considered its own selfish interests. Therefore, government guidance—not free enterprise—was Americans’ steadfast ally. Contrary to what you might think, big business, including autos and steel, were happy to go along with FDR’s plan—at least, at first. If the government was going to ensure their profits, who were they to complain? So, instead of prohibiting monopolies—something the government is actually supposed to do—the NIRA created monopolies on the condition that these favored industries immediately raised wages significantly and bargained collectively with labor. (22 Dec 2017) US President Donald Trump acted October 26th 2017 to block the release of hundreds of records on the John F. Kennedy assassination, bending to CIA and FBI appeals to keep those secrets. "I have no choice," Trump said in a memo, citing "potentially irreversible harm" to national security if he were to allow some records out now. He was placing those files under a six-month review while letting 2,800 other records come out on October 26th, racing a deadline to honour a law mandating their release. Officials say Trump will impress upon federal agencies that JFK files should stay secret after the six-month review "only in the rarest cases." Despite having months to prepare for disclosures that have been set on the calendar for 25 years, Trump's decision came down to a last-minute debate with intelligence agencies, a tussle the president has only prolonged by calling for still more review. Much of October 26th passed with nothing from the White House or National Archives except silence, leaving unclear how the government would comply with a law requiring the records to come out by the end of the day, unless Trump had been persuaded by intelligence agencies to hold some back. White House officials said the FBI and CIA made the most requests within the government to withhold some information. No blockbusters had been expected in the last trove of secret files regarding Kennedy's assassination November 22nd 1963, given a statement months ago by the Archives that it assumed the records, then under preparation, would be "tangential" to what's known about the killing. But for historians, it's a chance to answer lingering questions, put some unfounded conspiracy theories to rest, perhaps give life to other theories _ or none of that, if the material adds little to the record. Researchers were frustrated by the uncertainty that surrounded the release for much of the day. Trump ordered agencies that have proposed withholding material related to the assassination to report to the archivist by March 12 on which specific information in the records meets the standard for continued secrecy. That standard includes details that could cause "harm to the military defense, intelligence operations, law enforcement, or conduct of foreign relations," Trump wrote in his order. The archivist will have two weeks to tell Trump whether those recommendations validate keeping the withheld information a secret after April 26th. *** Congressional Democratic leaders held a joint press conference November 13th to warn the GOP Tax Plan will hurt citizens and the Republicans if they push through. "We don't know yet what the final bill will look like but we can guarantee, our Republican friends one thing," said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. "This tax bill will be at the center of our efforts to take back the House and the Senate in 2018." "The Republican leadership is asking their members to walk the plank to walk, the plank on a bill, that never become law but has serious impact on their constituents." *** Speaker of the House Paul Ryan called the tax bill passed by the Senate December 5th "monumental reform" as he and other Republican leaders continued to celebrate the bill's progress, which was sent to a conference committee Monday evening. Roger Hedgecock gives a fascinating history on the conservatism of John F. Kennedy. Glenn Beck says he would be considered a Tea Party radical nowadays and wouldn't even get into the Republican party: http://www.glennbeck.com/2013/11/22/was-jfk-actually-a-conservative-author-ira-stoll-makes-the-case/ Was JFK actually a conservative? Author Ira Stoll makes the case Friday, Nov 22, 2013 at 9:07 AM PST After pondering where on the political spectrum President John F. Kennedy would fall today, Glenn was joined on radio this morning by Ira Stoll, author of JFK, Conservative. Glenn and Ira discussed how the left has co-opted JFK's legacy, and Ira explained why he believes the death of President Kennedy was the death of the conservative wing of the Democratic Party. Glenn first asked Ira to "make the case" of why he considers JFK to be conservative. "Well, you know, Kennedy believed in tax cuts. That was actually his top priority was tax cuts, and free trade, and winning the Cold War against the Soviet Union. President Reagan recognized that when he used to talk about Kennedy all the time, and it drove his liberal opponents crazy," Ira explained. "Kennedy was for the death penalty, he appointed the Supreme Court justice who wrote the dissent in the Roe v. Wade abortion case, he campaigned against corrupt labor unions, he worried about how welfare destroyed families, he warned about the dangers of atheism and cynical intellectuals. There's really the whole spectrum of issues where Kennedy was, surprisingly to me when I started researching it, pretty conservative." While those particular issues are largely inline with conservative beliefs, Glenn questioned the timeliness of JFK's alleged conservatism. Was JFK a conservative by the standards of the early 1960s, or is JFK a conservative by today's standards? "Well, both in today's world and by the standards of his time, he was a conservative," Ira said. "I mean Eleanor Roosevelt was asked in a 1958 television interview, 'What would you do if the Democrats nominate a conservative like Kennedy and the Republicans nominated a liberal like Rockefeller?' She said she hoped it didn't come to that. The liberals at the time were protesting the Kennedy tax cuts and the escalation in Vietnam. Albert Gore, Sr., the democratic senator from Tennessee who is Bill Clinton's vice president's father, denounced the Kennedy tax cut plan as a bonanza for fat cats. John Kenneth Galbraith, the Keynesian Harvard economics professor who was Kennedy's ambassador to India, goes back and met with Kennedy at the White House -- he was for more government spending to stimulate the economy -- and he went back to the White House mess after that meeting with Kennedy and he said to his fellow economists, 'You know what, guys? You've won. The president finally told me to shut up about my opposition to the tax cut.'" If President Kennedy did in fact represent a more conservative element of the Democratic Party, Glenn asked if the Democratic Party we know today would exist had JFK not been assassinated. "One of the reasons [the assassination] was a terrible, terrible thing was it was the end to the conservative wing of the Democratic Party in this country," Ira said. "I mean... Bill Clinton finally signed the welfare reform and when he argued for free trade, Bill Clinton went to the Kennedy Library in Massachusetts to argue for it. But, you know, a lot of that has just been lip service. And since [the assassination], the conservatives in this country moved into the Republican Party and the TEA Party." "So how come we remember him as such a liberal icon," Glenn asked. ADVERTISEMENT "Well, that is really a deception... which was perpetrated by two of Kennedy's more liberal aides: Ted Sorensen, who was so left-wing that he was a conscientious objector in World War II; and Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., who would have preferred a 'President Adlai Stevenson' and wasn't even that close to Kennedy when he was alive," Ira explained. "The conservatives in the Administration, like Douglas Dillon, the Republican treasury secretary under Kennedy, didn't write books. And I point out in my book how those Sorensen and Schlesinger books, which were amazingly influential, actually edited out some of the more hawkish lines from Kennedy's speeches and even changed the chronology to make it look like Kennedy became this raving peacenik in the final months of his life." In which John Green teaches you about a time of relative tumult in the United States, the 1960s. America was changing rapidly in the 1960s, and rights movements were at the forefront of those changes. Civil Rights were dominant, but the 60s also saw growth in the Women's Movement, the LGBT rights movement, the Latino rights movement, and the American Indian movement. Also, Americans began to pay a bit more attention to the environment. All this change happened against the backdrop of the Cold War and the Rise of Conservatism. It was just wild. John will teach you about sit-ins, Freedom Rides, The March on Washington, MLK, JFK, LBJ, and NOW. Man, that is a lot of initialisms. And one acronym. JFK got into big trouble when he took on the Fed and no one in the MSM likes to talk about it. This time, Doug Wead slips it by the censors. And there is open talk about how the MSM is working to destroy Trump. This remarkable interview between David Asman and Doug Wead takes place at the end of January, 2017. Asman asks Wead to compare Donald Trump's use of executive actions to past presidents. They talk about Barack Obama and George W. Bush and JFK. They compare how JFK targeted the steel industry to Trumps singling out US companies, trying to get them to bring jobs back to the USA. This is an unusual lapse by the MSM where they allow a very rare mention of how JFK took on the Federal Reserve. Wead is famous for slipping these moments through the censors. Finally they talk about Nixon and the media and how they got him. Is Trump in danger of the same thing? Wead talks about Twitter new options that might give Trump a chance.

This isn't one of my typical videos. It's clips of Bush, Trump, and Kennedy talking about their tax plans. I decided to do this in order to show how each President speaks to the people. With most Presidents you can at least understand what they're trying to do. And then with certain President, you have no idea what he's talking about because he has no idea what he's talking about. 🔴 PATREON ► https://www.patreon.com/answersininsanity 🔴 SUBSCRIBE ► http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo4xjfoQy-GNaul-V-oiCJg?sub_confirmation=1 🔸 AMAZON 🔸 http://amzn.to/2ir7nOE 🔸 BUY SHIRTS🔸 http://www.ThatDamnAtheist.com 🔸 BUY BOOKS 🔸 http://www.answersininsanity.com/books/ 🔸 TWITTER 🔸 https://twitter.com/answersinsanity 🔸 FACEBOOK 🔸 http://on.fb.me/1J0GcGv 🔸 WEBSITE 🔸 http://www.answersininsanity.com 🔴 TUBEBUDDY►Got a YouTube channel? Optimism, as defined by economist Jeffrey Sachs, is more than just a translucent, faraway wish. It means having bold goals and acting on them—even if you have no plan or existing knowledge of how you'll get there. The US was once good at this: In May 1961, President Kennedy stood before Congress and announced that the US would land a man on the moon and bring him back safely before the decade was out. In the summer of 1969, that mission was achieved. If American politicians, scientists, engineers and the public could unite for the space race, then the same is unquestionably possible for the urgent humanistic causes of poverty, inequality, and curbing global warming, which will create millions of climate refugees this century. Optimism doesn't just require vision and determination—it needs a deadline, as JFK showed. By 2030, let's mobilize our optimism to cut poverty in half in America, and make a decisive move to renewable energy. Jeffrey Sachs is the author of Building the New American Economy: Smart, Fair, and Sustainable. This video is part of a collaborative series with the Hope & Optimism initiative, which supports interdisciplinary academic research into significant questions that remain under-explored. The three-year initiative will provide over $2 million for philosophers, philosophers of religion, and social scientists to generate original, high-quality, collaborative research on topics related to optimism and hopefulness. Discover the public components of the Hope & Optimism project, and how you can contribute, at http://www.hopeoptimism.com. Read more at BigThink.com: Follow Big Think here: YouTube: http://goo.gl/CPTsV5 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BigThinkdotcom Twitter: https://twitter.com/bigthink Transcript: The best thing society can do was set a bold goal and think about how to achieve it and go for it. I just love that idea of governance. Of course I grew up with it because President Kennedy in my youth said to the congress in 1961, that’s how old I am and I remember those days. He said I believe that America should adopt the goal before this decade is out of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the Earth. President Kennedy said we have a big goal, let’s go to the moon and back and let’s do it this decade. And, you know, the engineers and the scientists said that’s pretty cool. And the congress said that’s something good for us to invest in. And within the decade, of course, Neil Armstrong walked on the moon and we had a transformation of space science, of communications technology, of semiconductor capacity, of computation that were all spinoffs of that wonderful adventure. Now I know that when President Kennedy said that there was no plan for how to do it and everything had to be built along the way and everything was learning by doing and everything was boldness and risk taking and putting resources into it. But they had the goal. They had the self-confidence. They had the idea that this great challenge would be an inspiration, would organize our energies and would have fantastic spillovers like global communications, like GPS, like computation, like the semiconductor industry. So that’s optimism but optimism connected with goals, connected with clear thinking, with rationality, with ways forward, with the boldness to say we can do great things. I believe we absolutely should have such bold goals for our country. By 2030 let’s cut the poverty at least by half. By 2030 let’s cut the inequality in our country decisively so it’s like the northern European countries. Not like this god-awful inequality that we have in the United States. By 2030 let’s move to decisively to renewable energy. These are all achievable goals. If you can land a man on the moon between May 1961 and the summer of 1969 don’t tell me we can’t transform our energy system to save the planet. Of course we can. So this is what optimism is but optimism linked to clear goals, timelines and good rigorous thinking and mobilization of people that can help to lead and can help society to get the job done.

Original article which contains the threat in reaction to Trump's planned reforms of the Office of the Director of the National Intelligence: https://archive.fo/sY4la#selection-4313.38-4313.103 EDITED article with threatening statement from White House Official about CIA removed: http://www.wsj.com/articles/lawmakers-officials-frown-on-donald-trumps-dismissal-of-u-s-intelligence-1483554450 To me, this is a clear threat from the CIA against Donald Trump for going against them and trying to reform U.S. intelligence agencies in favor of Americans (instead of serving as a linebacker running interference for Chinese and Saudi Arabian propaganda). Trump continues to be critical of the narrative that Russia hacked the U.S. Election in his favor, yet the results of the DNI's investigation of the hacks will still be presented to Trump for his review. LOL!

The Church Committee was the United States Senate Select Committee to Study Governmental Operations with Respect to Intelligence Activities, a U.S. Senate committee chaired by Senator Frank Church (D-ID) in 1975. A precursor to the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, the committee investigated intelligence gathering for illegality by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), National Security Agency (NSA) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after certain activities had been revealed by the Watergate affair. By the early years of the 1970s, a series of troubling revelations started to appear in the press concerning intelligence activities. First came the revelations of Christopher Pyle in January 1970 of the U.S. Army's spying on the civilian population and Sam Ervin's Senate investigations produced more revelations. Then on December 22, 1974, The New York Times published a lengthy article by Seymour Hersh detailing operations engaged in by the CIA over the years that had been dubbed the "family jewels". Covert action programs involving assassination attempts against foreign leaders and covert attempts to subvert foreign governments were reported for the first time. In addition, the article discussed efforts by intelligence agencies to collect information on the political activities of US citizens. In 1975 and 1976, the Church Committee published fourteen reports on various U.S. intelligence agencies', formation, operations, and the alleged abuses of law and of power that they had committed, with recommendations for reform, some of which were later put in place. Among the matters investigated were attempts to assassinate foreign leaders, including Patrice Lumumba of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rafael Trujillo of the Dominican Republic, the Diem brothers of Vietnam, Gen. René Schneider of Chile and Director of Central Intelligence Allen Welsh Dulles's plan (approved by President Dwight D. Eisenhower) to use the Sicilian Mafia to kill Fidel Castro of Cuba. Under recommendations and pressure by this committee, President Gerald Ford issued Executive Order 11905 (ultimately replaced in 1981 by President Reagan's Executive Order 12333) to ban U.S. sanctioned assassinations of foreign leaders. Together, the Church Committee's reports have been said to constitute the most extensive review of intelligence activities ever made available to the public. Much of the contents were classified, but over 50,000 pages were declassified under the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992. The Church Committee learned that beginning in the 1950s, the CIA and Federal Bureau of Investigation intercepted, opened and photographed more than 215,000 pieces of mail by the time the program called "HTLINGUAL" was shut down in 1973. This program was all done under the "mail covers" program. A mail cover is when the government records without a warrant or notification all information on the outside of an envelope or package, including the name of the sender and the recipient. The Church report found that the CIA was zealous about keeping the United States Postal Service from learning that mail was being opened by government agents. CIA agents moved mail to a private room to open the mail or in some cases opened envelopes at night after stuffing them in briefcases or coat pockets to deceive postal officials. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_Committee
