I lost 25 lbs in 4 weeks and was in full panic or near panic for 8 weeks straight mixed with the darkest most painful depression I cold have ever imagined. I immediately could not work and had to move in with my parents who, along with many siblings and friends, had to watch me 24/7 as I was a danger to myself. Eventually I was hospitalized in the Psych Ward for a week. Getting through each day seemed truly unbearable and I knew I would surely die. I have been put on many many different SSRI's SNRI's Tricyclics, Mood stabilizers, anti psychotics, holistic meds, acupuncture and even a form of shock therapy called RTMS. I barely saw any improvement in my condition for a full year. It was decided I had treatment resistant depression and I spent nearly every moment in tears. Weeks after starting my newest round of medications (Seroquel & Nortryptaline) as a last ditch effort, I had my blood drawn for possible hormone imbalances and my Testosterone levels came back 200 ng/Dl and 150 ng/Dl. The average 25 year old male has 750 ng/Dl. With this discovery I for the first time had any type of possible explanation as to why I was not getting better and why I might be so so sick. The symptoms of such Low T are very similar to those of major depression. I started Testosterone replacement therapy soon after and have been checking in with the world and documenting my experience with treatment as well as giving my insight and perspective on various topics of mental health. I am blessed to say that I have slowly, over the last 5 years, been improving and becoming more stable which I never thought to be possible. My low T manifested itself in the form of Major depression, anxiety, and depersonalization/ derealization for over a year. Treating my low testosterone has been 1 HUGE part of the puzzle but I have had to continue to work hard to hold on to my mental stability with many set backs. Gaining some mental stability back is nothing short of a miracle as I was near death for what felt like forever. I do not consider myself to be totally healed yet but I am closer now then ever before and aim to use what I have been through to help or at least offer support to others in need I was able to successfully come off my Seroquel and Pamelor. I work out all the time as a part of my mental health recovery!!! Weight training and all kinds of cardio rule much of my free time and I also share this on my channel.

Depression Anxiety OCD and more: Serotonin the master chemical

06:35
Many people suffer from depression and anxiety. They share a common condition with those that have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anorexia nervosa, bulimia, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and even insomnia. They are all due to a deficiency in Serotonin, a neurotransmitter in the brain. The brain communicates and functions with the help of 3 important neurotransmitters, Serotonin, Norepinephrine and Dopamine. The end of nerve cells release the neurotransmitter, it floats across a gap and is picked up by the next cell, which becomes activated, and it then carries a message to the next nerve cell. If there is not enough neurotransmitter, the cells do not communicate effectively, and brain function can be affected. The same Serotonin deficiency can cause different symptoms in different people. One person may have depression, another may have insomnia or anorexia. Think about hypothyroid, one person may be tired, another dry skin and hair, and yet another may present with constipation. All have low thyroid hormone, but have different symptoms. The medications take 4-6 weeks to be fully effective, may have some manageable side effects the first few days, and should be taken at least 3-6 months, before considering stopping, after talking with your doctor.

💪⚡ Try Online Counseling: http://tryonlinetherapy.com/johnniejune If you are struggling with anxiety, depression or any other mental illness consider online counseling with a licensed professional at BetterHelp. It’s far cheaper and more convenient than in-person counseling. Believe me, you are worth it. Depression and anxiety are two things that I have dealt with for most of my (almost) 22 years. However, after many tries, I found the right antidepressant for me....Zoloft! Comment below if you have ever used Zoloft [Sertraline] and let me know how it affected you.

luvox Fluvoxamine sandoz 100 mg

00:21
Fluvoxamine (brand name Luvox) is an antidepressant which functions as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Fluvoxamine was first approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1993 for the treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).[1] Fluvoxamine CR (controlled release) is approved to treat social anxiety disorder.[2] Fluvoxamine is also prescribed to treat major depressive disorder (MDD) and anxiety disorders, such as panic disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).[3] The FDA has added a Black box warning for this drug in reference to increased risks of suicidal thinking and behavior in young adults and children. A study from the Institute for Safe Medication Practices identified Luvox as being 8.4 times more likely than other medications to be associated with violence - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluvoxamine

Obsessive–compulsive disorder OCD handwash.jpg Frequent, excessive hand washing occurs in some people with OCD Specialty Psychiatry Symptoms Feel the need to check things repeatedly, perform certain routines repeatedly, have certain thoughts repeatedly[1] Complications Tics, anxiety disorder, suicide[2][3] Usual onset Before 35 years[1][2] Causes Unknown[1] Risk factors Child abuse, stress[2] Diagnostic method Based on the symptoms[2] Similar conditions Anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, eating disorders, obsessive–compulsive personality disorder[2] Treatment Counselling, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants[4][5] Frequency 2.3%[6] [edit on Wikidata] Obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental disorder where people feel the need to check things repeatedly, perform certain routines repeatedly (called "rituals"), or have certain thoughts repeatedly. People are unable to control either the thoughts or the activities for more than a short period of time. Common activities include hand washing, counting of things, and checking to see if a door is locked. Some may have difficulty throwing things out. These activities occur to such a degree that the person's daily life is negatively affected.[1] Often they take up more than an hour a day.[2] Most adults realize that the behaviors do not make sense.[1] The condition is associated with tics, anxiety disorder, and an increased risk of suicide.[2][3] The cause is unknown.[1] There appear to be some genetic components with both identical twins more often affected than both non-identical twins. Risk factors include a history of child abuse or other stress inducing event. Some cases have been documented to occur following infections. The diagnosis is based on the symptoms and requires ruling out other drug related or medical causes.[2] Rating scales such as the Yale–Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale can be used to assess the severity.[7] Other disorders with similar symptoms include anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, eating disorders, tic disorders, and obsessive–compulsive personality disorder.[2] Treatment involves counselling, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and sometimes medication, typically selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).[4][5] CBT for OCD involves increasing exposure to what causes the problems while not allowing the repetitive behavior to occur.[4] While clomipramine appears to work as well as SSRIs, it has greater side effects.[4] Atypical antipsychotics may be useful when used in addition to an SSRI in treatment-resistant cases but are also associated with an increased risk of side effects.[5][8] Without treatment, the condition often lasts decades.[2] Obsessive–compulsive disorder affects about 2.3% of people at some point in their life.[6] Rates during a given year are about 1.2% and it occurs worldwide.[2] It is unusual for symptoms to begin after the age of thirty-five, and half of people develop problems before twenty.[1][2] Males and females are affected about equally.[1] In English the phrase obsessive–compulsive is often used in an informal manner unrelated to OCD to describe someone who is excessively meticulous, perfectionistic, absorbed, or otherwise fixated. Antidepressant Drugs : How antidepressants work, their side effects and alternatives!

09:19
Hello Friends! Do you have following questions or queries in your mind: What are antidepressants or anti depression pills? How to treat depression? What are SSRIs, TCAs or newer antidepressants? How do they work? What are the side effects of antidepressants? Can antidepressants cause weight gain or sexual problem? Are antidepressant medications addictive? are you planning to take antidepressants? How long does one need to take antidepressants? What are natural or herbal antidepressants? What is St. Johns Wort or Hypericum perforatum? Then this is the right place for you to gather the right information from the right person! Antidepressants are pharmaceutical drugs which are used to treat depression (Major Depressive Disorder), anxiety disorders ( Panic disorder, Generalised anxiety disorder, Social anxiety disorder GAD & SAD), and some personality disorders (EUPD). They act on Serotonin (5-HT), a neurotransmitter in our brain and increase its availability. They can also act on Norepinephrine or occasionally Dopamine but mainly its Serotonin. The older generation antidepressants were called Tricyclic antidepressants or TCAs. Some common examples are Amitriptyline (Elavil, Endep), Clomipramine (Anafranil) or Dosulepin (Prothiaden). However, they had multiple side effects and frequently affected the heart. They were cardiotoxic especially in overdose hence not used frequently nowadays. The newer generation antidepressants are called Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor or SSRIs. Some common examples are Fluoxetine (Prozac), Citalopram (Celexa, Cipramil), Paroxetine (Paxil, Seroxat), Fluvoxamine (Luvox, Faverin) and Sertraline (Zoloft, Lustral). They are well tolerated and are not lethal in overdose. Therefore, they are the first line of drug treatment of depression. SSRIs are the first choice of antidepressant drugs for teenagers or adolescents, especially fluoxetine. Lately, there has been some recent addition which includes Venlafaxine (Effexor), Agomelatine (Valdoxan), Duloxetine (Cymbalta), Bupropion (Wellbutrin) and Mirtazapine (Remeron). As they act on receptors in our brain, the onset of action may take a minimum of two weeks or sometimes, four weeks in older people. Their side effects are mild and usually transient. rarely, they can have some serious outcome mainly due to drug interaction. Common side effects of antidepressants include tummy upset like nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, feeling of sickness or loose stools. They can initially worsen sleep or anxiety. Some can lead to nightmares or increased sweating due to increased noradrenaline. They can also have sexual side effects for instance decrease libido or delay ejaculation, usually at higher doses. Occasionally, they can increase suicidal ideation but its mainly seen in adolescents. They are overall protective in suicide in young, adults and older people. When taken for a long time, antidepressants can affect metabolism leading to weight gain or weight loss depending on the particular drug. How to wean off antidepressant drugs? Once taken for a long time, your body may develop some dependence and people can experience some withdrawal symptoms while stopping antidepressants. However, they are not addictive and should be stopped gradually. The recommended duration of treatment is a minimum of six months after symptoms have been adequately treated for depression and one year in case of anxiety disorders. If there have been two or more episodes of depression, treatment should continue for two years. There are alternatives which include psychotherapy and Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT). For mild to moderate depression, talking therapy or Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is the first choice. ECT is used in treatment-resistant depression or suicidal patients. recently, St. John's wart has become popular as a herbal treatment of depression and is widely available. However, it contains a lot of active ingredients with unknown function and can lead to interaction with other drugs. Therefore, it's wise to consult your doctor. Take care and Get well soon! Help is available, just look for it! Regards - Dr Subodh MD MRCPsych

Effective treatments for each anxiety disorder are accessible, and new and enhanced treatments are always becoming available. Non-medication treatments Once you have found out the type of anxiety that you are suffering from you will be able to find the suitable anxiety disorder treatment. Mild anxiety disorders can often be treated relatively simple with relaxation and breathing techniques. Yoga, for instance, is a great type of exercise that can really help with anxiety and related health conditions. This is definitely something that should be tried prior to more serious forms of anxiety disorder treatment. If your anxiety is more severe or constant, then therapy or counseling may become the best option. Cognitive behavioral therapy for one has been confirmed to be very effective in the treatment of all types of anxiety disorder. In this therapy you work one on one with an experienced and qualified mental health professional, who will assist you to deal with your fears in a safe and controlled environment. Over time you will be able to find out the root of your anxiety and from there work towards developing a treatment plan that will lead you to your normal life. You can also select an anxiety disorder treatment plan that involves natural and herbal treatments. Herbal remedies such as valerian root and kava kava have over and over again proven to be effective at treating anxiety disorders and depression. You do need to keep in mind that just because these herbal remedies are natural it does not indicate that you do not still have to be careful. If taken inappropriately, these remedies can actually worsen your anxiety. Hypnotherapy, biofeedback, and acupuncture are other options for anxiety disorder treatment. In order to determine which one is going to work best for you, you need to talk to your doctor. You may need to try a few different methods before you find the one that works best for you and your particular anxiety condition. Medications for anxiety disorder Generally, most treatments for anxiety disorders include at least one prescription medication. If you start taking medication as a treatment for anxiety disorder, it is important to understand that this should not be a long-term solution and you should keep working with a certified mental health professional in order to determine the root cause of your anxiety. There are several common medications for anxiety disorder and one of them is selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Serotonin is known as the brain's all-natural happy drug. Scientists believe that a lack of serotonin is the source of depression, anxiety, and panic attacks and therefore the purpose of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors is to increase the levels of serotonin in the brain. Some familiar brands that use selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors are Prozac and Zoloft. Benzodiazepines are another choice of medication, which act like minor tranquilizers. They decelerate the body's nervous system, giving it an all-over calm. These types of medications can be addictive, so they should only be taken as prescribed. Some well-known brand names are Xanax and Valium. Another medication that is used to treat anxiety disorder is antidepressants, which affect the neurotransmitters in the brain. Effexor is a good example of this type of anxiety disorder medication. Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) are very strong antidepressant drugs that should only be taken as a last resort after all other treatments have been tried. These drugs can be lethal when combined with certain other drugs and foods. One thing that need to be noted, anyone who takes antidepressants may become more susceptible to suicide, especially when they first begin to take them or when the dosage is changed.
