Therapy with Me| Bullet Style Journaling For Mental Health
This is the beginning of a series called Therapy with Me. I had this idea to combine the infamous bullet style journaling and plan with me that are swarming the social media arena. Makes sense...I thought so too! First up is Year of Pixels. The idea for this was created by a very creative teenager. I will leave a link to where I found it below. What I love about this is you do not need to many supplies or time to start tracking your mental health. All that is need to create this is paper, something to draw a straight line with, and different color marker, pens or crayons. Please feel free to get very creative :) I will be doing a formal style video on bullet journaling. But for now...create this beautiful tracker and let me know what what you learned about yourself! Just for some transparency, let me know if you would like for me to do an updated video on how my Year of Pixel is progressing. Do not forget to Subscribe! https://www.youtube.com/user/gurlrightthurr If you are looking for my ways to journal or other ways to manage your stress, then I will leave links to my previous videos below! Retinal Imaging Revolutionizes Mental Illness Diagnosis
The eyes are known as the window to the soul—but they may also act as a window to your brain chemistry as well. Until now the only way to diagnose a mental illness has been clinical, which can take years to determine a proper diagnosis, costing the patient time and resources while they are left not knowing what the problem is. Now, Dr. Hebert and Dr. Maziade from the Centre de recherche de l'Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Québec have developed an ERG – an eye test that measures electrical responses from the retina, which tells them whether a person has schizophrenia or not. How to overcome Childhood Emotional Neglect
Pre-order My New Book Today! ARE YOU OK? http://bit.ly/2s0mULy When we grow up in an emotionally neglectful environment it can cause us to believe that our thoughts, feelings, and desires don’t matter. This can in turn cause us question anything we experience and struggle to trust how we feel. We can find it difficult to let people in, and constantly worry what others think about us. Those who have suffered from emotional neglect often don’t even know it was happening, because this type of neglect isn’t something we can easily see. Many parents who were emotionally neglectful give their children every material thing they need, and from the outside look like amazing parents. But if their child needs any emotional support or encouragement from them, they are nowhere to be found. HOW TO RECOVER: 1. Start noticing/tracking your feelings: Print out feelings charts and track them each day. It may be hard at first, so start with the easier ones (often tired, sad, and worried are easier to begin with). It's normal for us to not know how we feel all the time, but give yourself the chance to listen to your body and acknowledge all that you may be feeling. 2. Try describing the feeling word you selected without using that exact word (ex. I am feeling energized, excited, and bubbly - when describing happy) 3. Begin noticing your needs: What are the things you need physically to survive? How about things you need emotionally? When do they come up? Take your time thinking about these, and even pretend that someone you love had those needs to. What would you think about them then? 4. Self-Care! I know I talk about this a lot, but when it comes to healing from CEN self-care is our way of nurturing and caring for ourselves. Are there things you wished your parent had done for you? Let’s make time to do those things for ourselves. 5. Accept help and support from others: It can be hard to let people in when we weren't supported as a child, but we need other people in our lives who can help us through the tough times. Ensure these people are worth having around, and that they are trust worthy, and then slowly let them in. 6. Set healthy boundaries: This is SO IMPORTANT! It’s okay to say no! You don’t have to do anything that you don't want to, and people will understand and respect you more because of it. The voices in my head | Eleanor Longden
To all appearances, Eleanor Longden was just like every other student, heading to college full of promise and without a care in the world. That was until the voices in her head started talking. Initially innocuous, these internal narrators became increasingly antagonistic and dictatorial, turning her life into a living nightmare. Diagnosed with schizophrenia, hospitalized, drugged, Longden was discarded by a system that didn't know how to help her. Longden tells the moving tale of her years-long journey back to mental health, and makes the case that it was through learning to listen to her voices that she was able to survive. Retrospective Mood Chart
A description of the process of doing a retrospective mood chart and its value in guiding treatment for bipolar disorder and depression.
A Color Test That Can Tell Your Mental Age
A lot of the times your brain “feels” way younger or older than you are. That's called mental age. Do you wanna know yours? Lucky for you, Bright Side put together a simple test that will help you figure out if you're a carefree child, an old and wise sage or just exactly as mentally “old” as you are. Just answer our questions, write down your points for every answer, add them all up and get your results! But enough talking, let's begin! If you got 7-12 points, mentally you're just under 20 years old. It doesn't matter what your passport says – you’re a carefree teenager at heart! If you're way older than 20, congratulations – you've managed to carry this constant feeling of enthusiasm and love for life through all these years. Keep shining! If your result is 13–20 points, you are 20–29 years old. You are active, creative, and full of life, but you can already call yourself an adult. Childhood and teenage years are over, but you took the best from them and left all the unnecessary stuff behind. It doesn't mean that you're not having fun though – your life is just as exciting as it was. If all of your points added up to 21–28 points, your mental age is 30–39 years. You’re still active and curious about new things and ideas, but you are already responsible and thoughtful. If you think about it, that's the perfect balance between the children's joy for life and adults' independence. The golden mean at its best! If your total number of points is 29–35, you are 40–49 years old. You're mature and experienced, and you know exactly how to live your life. You have no time for nonsense – you're determined and hardworking. You know what you want and how to get it. Continue to be a true inspiration for everyone around! 36–40 points mean that your mental age is over 50 years. And that's not a bad thing at all! On the contrary, you are wise and calm. You get what life is all about, and you highly appreciate comfort. You're the person everyone goes for advice, plus you can always be trusted. These are some rare qualities today, so your friends must protect you at all costs. So what’s your mental age and how close is it to your real age? "Up/Down" Bipolar Disorder Documentary FULL MOVIE (2011)
SHORTER (and better) VERSION: https://youtu.be/TTgSydgvmCY Click the link above for a more condensed version of "Up/Down." http://www.facebook.com/updownmovie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1821695/ There are approximately 5.7 million people in the United States with bipolar disorder. In an attempt to eliminate the mystery and misinformation surrounding the illness, many throughout the country diagnosed with this condition were interviewed extensively. They diligently explain the struggle to balance themselves between floating to a state of euphoria and sinking to a devastating depression. In short, "Up/Down" is a personal analysis of bipolar disorder from those living with it. Looking for something with a more scientific or clinical angle? Try a textbook. "Bipolar disorder is just one of many mental illnesses that is still highly stigmatized in our culture today, and 'Up/Down' could certainly be instrumental in changing that fact." -Microfilmmaker Magazine, Issue 65 If you would like to purchase a copy of the film and support independent filmmakers (because not all of us operate on trust funds), here are the following methods: https://www.createspace.com/340597 http://www.amazon.com/Up-Down/dp/B006GTYUEQ http://cn.youreeeka.com/main/watch/942 Star Award, 2011 Indie Gathering Merit Award, 2011 Accolade Competition Art Exhibition Award, 2011 Love Unlimited Film Festival Nominated for Best Feature Documentary, 2011 Los Angeles Reel Film Festival Thank you for taking the time to watch the film! Quantifying the Changeable Self: The Role of Self-Tracking in Coming to Terms With and Managing ...
Quantifying the Changeable Self: The Role of Self-Tracking in Coming to Terms With and Managing Bipolar Disorder Mark Matthews, Elizabeth Murnane, Jaime Snyder CHI '18: ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems Session: Coping with Mental Health Challenges Abstract There has been a recent increase in the development of digital self-tracking tools for managing mental illness. Most of these tools originate from clinical practice and are, as a result, largely clinician oriented. As a consequence, little is known about the self-tracking practices and needs of individuals living with mental illness. This understanding is important to guide the design of future tools to enable people to play a greater role in managing their health. In this article, we present a qualitative study focusing on the self-tracking practices of 10 people with bipolar disorder. We seek to understand the role self-tracking has played as they have come to grips with their diagnosis and attempted to self-manage their health. A central motivation for these participants is to identify risky patterns that may be harbingers of mood episodes, as well as positive trends that support recovery. What emerges is a fragmented picture of self-tracking, with no clear delineation between clinician-initiated and self-initiated practices, as well as considerable challenges participants face in making observations of themselves when their sense of self and emotional state is in flux, uncertain, and unreliable. Informed by these observations, we discuss the merits of a new form of self-tracking that combines manual and automated methods, addresses both clinician and individual needs, helps engage people with bipolar disorder in treatment, and seeks to overcome the significant challenges they face in self-monitoring. Psychiatric Interviews for Teaching: Psychosis
In this film, an on-call psychiatrist is assessing a young man who has been referred urgently by his GP. The psychiatrist takes a history in which she elicits persecutory delusions, third person auditory hallucinations, running commentary, thought insertion, and somatic hallucinations. She then makes a risk assessment, takes a drug history and assesses risk. The patient is clearly suffering from a psychotic disorder and the most likely diagnosis is schizophrenia. Differential diagnoses would include a drug-induced psychosis. Please note that this video has been made by the University of Nottingham for teaching purposes. The psychiatrist is a real psychiatrist but the patient is played by an actor.

They all report the same symptoms: hearing operator voices in their heads, suffering from ‘electronic torture’ and being subject to organised stalking - they call themselves ‘Targeted Individuals’. A number have attempted many things to relieve their pain - from living life on the run to surgically removing their own flesh because they believe it’s implanted with microchips. VICE follows a growing community who say they are being targeted as part of a government programme that is harassing and controlling them using hidden technology. How Disordered Eating Starts: Weight Loss, Metabolism & Binging
"Get Your Period Handbook" link: https://sellfy.com/p/38ei/ The "Get Your Period Handbook" has over 250 pages, answers over 100 FAQ's (about life, hormones, stress, diets, exercise, health, etc.) shares my own personal experience with regaining not only my period (twice!), but also both my mental and physical health when it comes to food and exercise; references numerous studies and research, has tons of real-life testimonials from girls I've worked with, 25 easy-to-make recipes, and lays out how to literally heal your body, fix your mind, and change your life for good. Though this book focuses on getting your period, it would also be beneficial for anyone and everyone (even guys!) struggling with food and exercise issues. Chapters include: - The Birth Control Pill - Why Am I So Bloated? + How to Fix It - Are you Addicted to Exercise? + Quiz - I LOVE to Exercise! - What Can We Learn from the Minnesota Starvation Experiment? + Disordered Eating During Puberty - Do You Have Orthorexia? + Quiz - Why Diets and Workouts Haven't Worked for You - Signs That Your Period is Right Around the Corner - Tips for Dealing with PMS - Best Foods to Get Your Period Back - Guard Your Mind! - The Power of Positive Thinking - Asking for Help - FAQ (hair loss, PCOS, binge eating, weight gain, depression, counting calories, etc.) - My Letter to You - Grocery "Must-Haves” - Recipes "30 Days to Loving Yourself" link:https://sellfy.com/p/UFbk/ "30 Days To ng Yourself: Daily Tasks For Overcoming Self-Hate, Anxiety, & Stress" is a 30 day plan, filled with daily tasks designed to completely change your life, one step at a time, one day at a time. Just like you, I know what it’s like to look in the mirror every day and not particularly like what I see. Not just on a physical level, but also on a mental and emotional level. At some point in your life, or maybe it was ever so slowly, you started to change. Things got different. Over time, you slowly started to lose your excitement for your life and for who you are as an individual. Years ago, the same thing happened to me. I went through a very difficult time and I no longer had the vigor for life that I used to. Things just felt “off.” Every day would just drag along, I was always waiting for the next best thing to happen in my life, living for the weekends (only to do nothing on the weekends), feeling self-pity and dreaming of a better, more happy, fun life, the life like I “used to” have or I “could have” or like someone else had if things could only change. I dealt with low self-esteem, low self-confidence, self-hate, anxiety, worrying, always wanting this or that, never being content, living in the past and day-dreaming of the future when things would change and I would finally be happy. I kept thinking if things were different, or like they used to be, then all my problems would go away. I believed that if I could only have this or if that certain thing could change in my life then my life would finally be different. But that wasn't the case, and along the way I figured out the secret. There was one key that unlocked the door to me loving my life, loving myself, and beating the anxiety and stress once and for all. There was one thing I had to do to see results. And that's what this book is all about - it's a guide to help you get to that point. It's 30 days of tasks that I have implemented in my own life to make me successful in finally, genuinely, loving myself and my life. Finally waking up every single day with joy and happiness, stress-free and excited for the day. Finally accepting my body, accepting where I am in life, loving my job, the place I lived, the things I did every day, and my relationships. Finally loving my life. The point of this book is for you to learn to truly loving yourself, your life, your body, your job, your relationships, the things that happen with you day-to-day, not someone else's. It's about you learning to cope with certain situations, accepting certain things, and creating the right habits that will change your life. And I can promise you, if you commit to the 30 days, you will undoubtedly see a change. And not just any change, but a drastic change.

depression symptoms of bipolar disorder Official Website : http://tinyurl.com/cure-it-now-and-forever Just listen to these success stories that prove the Depression Free Method program is the only treatment that works no matter who you are time and time again! Success Story #1: John Burnham "The results were simply astonishing. I read your book over three times and put all your words in action. Using your method, I've kept my depression at bay ever since." "Dear Dan, about 5 years ago, I started to fall into a really depressive episode. At first I thought it was only because I had a bad break from a relationship but the feelings wouldn't go away even after I got a new girlfriend. It was wrecking my life until a point where it was seriously affecting my work and personal life. She was very worried but at the same time couldn't understand why I was still sad and thought that I still couldn't let go of my previous relationship. Being the wonderful person that she is, she put aside her feelings and suggested I go for psychiatric evaluation. Many months later and even more anti-depressants, I was not coming close to being better at all. After doing some research online, I found out the real cause as you described it really makes a lot of sense and purchased your program. The results were simply astonishing. I read your book over three times and put all your words in action. Using your method, I've kept my depression at bay ever since. Up to date I'm still living happily with my girlfriend and I have you to thank for all that. You are the best!" -John Burnham, (Florida, USA) Official Website : http://tinyurl.com/cure-it-now-and-forever Success Story #2: Amanda White "Over the last five years I had begun to have increasingly withdraw into a downward spiral of depression... But now with the method I can fully focus my energy and thoughts into a decisive line on how to make my life better constantly. And it works like magic! I'm beginning to attract people to me once again and things have just been looking up since then. Thanks Dan, I owe you one!" -Amanda White, (New York, USA Success Story #3: Jackie Cameron Official Website : http://tinyurl.com/cure-it-now-and-forever \ "Now I enjoy many social activities, can't seem to get enough of fresh air and my career is climbing up a notch..." "Four months ago I have been getting deeper and deeper into depression. I take my medications on a daily basis. It seems something seems to happen one after another and doesn't seem to stop. I had a difficult time of handling stress and depression. I do get some support form my significant other, but he had a lot on his plate too. I felt like I was hitting rock bottom and just can't seem to pull myself together. I have been doing some journaling and mood tracking with my psychologist so she can see what my progress is each day. One fine day my Psychologist decided to quit her business without telling me. The last thing that they told me was she went on vacation for a couple of weeks until one day I called and told me she wasn't coming back. I really liked her and the fact that I had put all my time and effort into my progress with her was another cause for more depression. It was really one of the last resorts that I came online and did a lot of searches. It led me to believe that the Internet are full of scams until I came across your site. As skeptical as I was, I took you up on your promises because the way I see it, I can't lose either way with your guarantee. And I'm so glad I did take you up on your offer. The method proves to be an effective treatment by itself that has eluded me for so long. Now I enjoy many social activities, can't seem to get enough of fresh air and my career is climbing up a notch with those psychotherapy mind warps. Just needed to drop by and say thanks a lot." --Jackie Cameron, (Nevada, USA) And it doesn't stop there ! check out the official website to read tons of success stories about the Depression Free Method changing peoples lives forever.
