21 Road Trip Stops From Los Angeles to Las Vegas The drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas is one that most Southern California residents have done at least once. While many times you just want to make it there, this video shows you 21 of the best stops if you want to make your trip a little longer. This video begins in Washington, DC in the early morning hours of May 3, 2018 and concludes in Tacoma, WA, just south of Seattle, in the late morning of May, 6, 2018. The drive was 3,084 miles (4,963 kilometers). All of this video was recorded in real-time, but this video is played back at 4x time-lapse speed. (The real-time and hyper-lapse versions of this video will be uploaded in several parts soon.) Nearly all of this entire video was done in the daytime; however, there is about a 20-minute section between Caldwell, Idaho and eastern Oregon done in darkness as it was before sunrise. The states passed through are District of Columbia (0:00:20-0:02:02) Virginia (0:02:02-0:52:00) West Virginia (0:52:00-1:36:28) Kentucky (1:36:28-2:18:16) Indiana (2:18:16-2:44:19) Illinois (2:44:19-3:11:01) Missouri (3:11:01-4:10:05) Kansas (4:10:05-5:34:14) Colorado (5:34:14-7:17:47) Utah (7:17:47-8:27:32) Idaho (8:27:32-9:20:40) Oregon (9:20:40-10:04:18) Washington (10:04:18-10:58:48) The highest elevation of the drive was 11,158 feet (3,401 meters) at the Eisenhower Tunnel in Colorado (6:22:45). The hottest temperature of the drive was 86 F (30 C) between western West Virginia and eastern Kentucky, as well as near Jerome, Idaho. The coldest temperature of the drive was 24 F (-5 C) at Vail Pass, Colorado (6:27:55). This video is a long time coming, but it is finally uploaded. This is the first of many videos I will be uploading in the upcoming months. Unlike the CA-NY video, this video was entirely done in one trip with the same vehicle - a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder. Also, this video was shot using the Garmin Virb Ultra 30, which records GPS information. The position, elevation, and heading are shown on the video. Since 2/3 of all viewers of my videos are from outside the U.S., I set everything to metric. I plan to use English units for the real-time versions, however. Day 1 of this video in real-time can be found here: https://youtu.be/eD8dJDo86Jw Day 2 of this video in real-time can be found here: https://youtu.be/bo9R9ourxjg Day 3 of this video in real-time can be found here: https://youtu.be/3pi9dy6VGqk Day 4 of this video in real-time can be found here: https://youtu.be/pqFnZxDLxHc

More info: http://www.RideWithCy.com I've had the chance to speak to over 50 schools this year. In doing so, I've heard many disheartening stories from the students... "My father is beating my mother. I can't go to the police because they will put me and my brother in foster care...” That is just one story of so many. To fundraise for youth suffering, I'm riding a bicycle from Los Angeles, California to Massillon, Ohio. This ride will be approximately 40 days and roughtly 2,500 miles long, so I'll need all the support possible! 100% of all proceeds will support existing Non-Profit Organizations. These funds will be used to raise awareness of Youth Non-Profit programming and increase program enrollment. Unfortunately for so many youth, they are unable to participate due to the lack of programming available in their communities or the financial circumstances of their families. The proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to bring those gaps! ~~~ MORE ABOUT CYRUS HARPER ~~~ Born to a mother addicted to harsh drugs and a drug-dealing father, Cyrus Harper wasn’t expected to do much with his life. He spent much of his childhood in Massillon’s inner city, not knowing from day to day what his homelife would be. His brothers were in and out of jail and prison. He learned at all too early an age that he could not depend on others, so he turned his attention inward and discovered himself. The journey that lead him to a better life has since helped hundreds of other at-risk youth find their own path to personal greatness through self knowledge. His dedication to inspiring others started inadvertently at the age of 13 when he wrote his first program for the local Boys & Girls Club. He taught himself how to self-love and made the necessary lifestyle changes to prosper from his negative environment. Harper’s instinct was to continue to give back to the Club that helped inspire his trajectory, so for 16 years, he continued to work there and provide a strong, positive influence for the youth. His hands-on experience with adolescent psychology uncovered behavior patterns that he recognized as barriers to personal greatness. “I deeply believe I was chosen by God to be the bridge between those who are struggling with life and those who achieve the best version of themselves through self-knowledge,” Harper says. Harper now travels the world studying all walks of life, motivating and providing strategies for adolescents and adults to discover the greatness within through knowing who they truly are. “All problems start with self,” Harper believes. “Consequently, all solutions must start with self.” As a testament to his dedication to helping others, Harper has raised and donated over $250,000 to the community. He’s authored three books, and is a sought-after speaker for organizations dedicated to making the youth of America successful. - There were Two decent Documentaries on the N. Hollywood Bank Robbery... But Neither seemed Complete, and Each had Discrepancies about the Details. _____________ (PS, Skip to 10:39 if you know the Story) So I took both 45 Minute Documentaries, and Edited them into ONE, 40 Minute Doc. I really did this for Myself... But Hey. Why not Share, right? This contains Footage from "Shootout!", and some NatGeo documentary. As a side-note, I edited this together Last Night, and dreamed that I was one of the Gunmen. And it was SO BAD ASS. I was just Wasting people left and right. I ended up being Captured after I ran out of Ammo, and couldn't find my Pistol to Alt+F4 myself. I pretended to have a Russian accent. Also, for some reason, there was an Older Lady Cop that asked for my Permission to Stick my finger for a Blood Sample, after I was cuffed. I said yes, which surprised her. Weird. I kept trying to Wake Myself Up before the Policemen came and Beat the Shit out of me for being a Cop-killer.

Boy is this video a doozy. I would say it's broken into 2 segments. The first being my girlfriends and I driving from SF to LA, which is full of girly obnoxious shenanigans, also which I wouldn't have any other way. In LA, I met up with my little brother Andrew and we drove back east, stopping in New Mexico to pick up Ben. We took him to Atlanta and then ventured up to Ohio. If you make it to the end of this video, I commend you.

Officially designated to run from Port Huron, Michigan to Charlotte, I-77 appeared on the original Interstate system route numbering plan in 1957. The part of Interstate 94 from Detroit northeast to Port Huron, Michigan was originally planned as I-77 in 1957; the current I-77 was I-79. When the current Interstate 79 was added in Pennsylvania, the I-77 designation was moved to its current route, but the I-77 in Michigan also remained in the 1958 numbering plan. It soon became part of I-94. Originally, I-77 was to terminate at Interstate 85 in Charlotte. However, Congress, in its 1969 amendments to the Interstate Highway Act, added an extension of I-77 from I-85, through a rapidly growing corridor from downtown Charlotte (along an upgrading of US 21 already under construction in some places), into South Carolina near Rock Hill. The highway under this plan was to continue to Columbia, South Carolina, terminating at an interchange with Interstate 20. Collector / distributor ramps to both Alpine and Percival Roads were proposed later on to more efficiently route traffic to and from the Fort Jackson military reservation and the I-77 / I-20 corridors. Additionally, SC-277 was put on the books as well to bring southbound traffic from I-77 directly into the heart of downtown Columbia. By the late 1970s, the southern terminus of I-77 near Columbia, South Carolina was amended to a grade-separated interchange with SC 12 (Percival Road) with mile markers signed accordingly. This extension was completed in 1986. That same year, the first phase of an interstate spur (to be named Interstate 326) between SC 760 (Jackson Boulevard) and Interstate 26 was opened as far as Bluff Road (SC-48). 1989 saw a two-mile (3 km) extension to the east, adding interchanges at Shop Road (later SC-768) and Garner's Ferry Road / Sumter Highway (US 76/US 378). The decision to extend I-77 from SC 12 and SC 760 (five miles between the two roads) was made before I-326 was opened, so the southern portion was never signed as such, instead re-designated by SC DOT as SC-478. The northern part of extension was completed as far as Forest Drive in early 1993, with the final 3 miles (4.8 km), including the SC-760 interchange, opened to traffic in 1995. The mile markers and exit numbers for Interstate 77 were adjusted accordingly as the extension was completed. As the Percival Road to I-26 section was under construction, southbound traffic on I-77 was detoured, by "Temporary I-77" signage, via I-20 and I-26 to bypass Columbia.

Across the country we work with our partners, to conserve land, train leaders and invest in conservation at home. From our headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, and our field offices across the country, we've saved land in all 50 states—more than 7 million acres of wild havens, working lands, vibrant communities and more. The Conservation Fund started in 1985 as a smart solution to an old problem: how to balance environmental and economic goals. For decades, environmentalists and business or development leaders had been at odds, with each group favoring its own use of the landscape. Conservationist Pat Noonan, former head of The Nature Conservancy, decided to found a small, savvy nonprofit organization that would bring economics and the environment together—providing a win for all of America.

This special 30-minute Route 66 preview includes narration and highlights from the 90-minute DVD. To order DVD go to www.rvadventurevideos.com Route 66 is also know as "the mother road." It's history has helped shape that of America. Commissioned in 1926, it was the first highway to link Chicago and Los Angeles. Route 66 became America's main street. No longer necessary for cross-country travel, it has been replaced by interstates with no stoplights and no special places of interest, just a way to get from point A to point B in a hurry. But as I've always reminded travelers, you don't learn anything on an interstate. Route 66 is special, it crosses the rivers, plains, mountains and deserts of eight states. Come along for the over 2,000 mile ride as we explore it's drive-inns, gas stations, museums, kitschy roadside attractions and most importantly, it's people. Americana at it's finest! Today, visitors come from all over the globe to travel what some call the most magical road in the world. What are you waiting for!

I wanted a mater for an astrolabe, came accross this vintage numbers matching Lambert Wrecker on Route 66 in Essex, CA. Astrolabe See: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrolabe This 1957 International Lambert Tow Truck started life as a service and recovery truck for Helms Bakery in Culver City Ca., "The First Bread on the Moon". Helms Bakery might have had several tow trucks, Helms had whole fleet of bread trucks and support vehicles. At one time Helms had over 500 bread trucks and service vehicles. http://helmsbakerydistrict.com/history/helms-photos The industrial quality of the IH cab and chassis Model A132 was chosen to be the foundation this rare Lambert Tow Truck was built upon. This 1957 International A130 chassis left the Springfield Ohio International Harvester assembly line on April 19, 1957, then shipped by either rail or truck via Route 66 to Los Angeles. At that time, Lambert Co LTD was located at 1202 E Olympic Blvd in Los Angeles, California and was the West Coast Ernest Holmes Distributor, also Lambert built their own bodies and complete turn-key tow trucks. http://www.towtimes.com/?p=3136 This one is equipped with its original Holmes 400 Wrecker (dated June 1957), the rare Plus Body with Tool Compartment with CA dimensions of 60" (dated July 8, 1957). This Wrecker is also equipped with a rare scobie plate or flat plate sling, used mostly on the West Coast. The large flat surface face of the plate matched the matching flat faces of all Helms Bakery Trucks. http://tow411.yuku.com/reply/854652/Re-OK-school-me-on-Scovie-plates#.TyAwfuN5nTo Even the later panel trucks had large flat custom grill guards. So in July of 57, a true West Coast Step-side Tow Truck was born sporting that familiar shinny Helms Bakery Yellow over Black, Dark Walnut Brown or Coffee paint scheme I remember as a kid living in Bellflower, Whittier, and Long Beach back in the 50's and 60's, http://gombessa.tripod.com/scienceleadstheway/id5.html Helms Bakery or Lambert are no longer in bussines. Here the Essex Towing truck has been sitting waiting patiently for me to come along so I can pamper her. Parked only fifty feet off the original old Route 66 (pre-1931 alignment, dirt road seen in the background), where she has sat for 10 years or more and has made the Hot Mojave Desert home since the closing of Helms Bakery in 1969. After Helms, the little tow truck helped relocate or salvage the thousands cars off of this stretch of Route 66 to Barstow or Needles as Interstate 40 was to bypass this stretch of road by 1972. Here she sits and listens to the BNSF trains as they sound the warning at the Sunflower Springs level crossing. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Level_crossing Standing about a hundred yards to the west on Route 66, across from the fully functional and staffed Cal-Trans Yard, sits a cute Radiator Well the Automobile Club of Southern California (AAA Insurance) erected in 1940. This little drinking fountain in the desert provided a much needed FREE drink of clean cool water for all those thirsty automobile radiators. Back in the days most stops in the Hot Mojave desert charged 10 cents a gallon for dirty radiator water, John Steinbeck wrote a book about those days, "The Grapes of Wrath". http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Grapes_of_Wrath The free range cattle for cow tipping provided by the Blair Ranch, you will notice the cattle guards and cow warning signs as you pass through town. Say hello to JR and John at their little tire shop that is still in business when you stop by Essex. Essex Ca was bypassed by interstate 40 in 1972, leaving Essex a Ghost Town almost. But thanks to Johnny Carson, in 1977, Essex got TV Reception for the first time ever. The whole town was then invited to Burbank to the Johnny Carson Show. John and the Little Tow Truck had to stay home to watch out for the travelers. Just a note, the litte tow truck has since been relocated. As far as I know, this is the only remaining Lambert Built Tow Truck known to exist. Essex Ca is also known as "Free Water" and the Heart of the Mojave Desert according to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). http://www.cart66pf.org/Map/66mojave2.htm

Quick Trip Summary and Route History: It’s mid afternoon at Chicago's Union Station as Amtrak's Hiawatha service departs Chicago for Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Airport station in Milwaukee, WI as Amtrak’s Hiawatha Service arrives on it's way to Chicago from downtown Milwaukee. We will ride all the way to Chicago both ways on Tracks owned by the Canadian Pacific and also Metra traveling approximately 87 miles and a time of 1 hour and 20 minutes. Leading the trains are IDTX SC-44 Charger #4624 and Amtrak Dash 8-32BWH #504, NPCU #90221, a former EMD F40PH locomotive that was rebuilt into a cab-control unit by Amtrak back in the late 1990s. This unit is also currently painted into a special scheme to honor our nation's Veteran's. And Siemens SC-44 Charger IDTX #4615 built in 2016 and went into service in August of 2017. The consist also includes a mix of Horizon Fleet and Amfleet passenger cars. The Hiawatha began operations on October 29, 1972. It is a state funded train of the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The train uses a small portion of a route once used by the famous Milwaukee Road Hiawatha trains that ran between Chicago and Minneapolis/St Paul. Minnesota.Amtrak's Hiawatha Service continues the Milwaukee Road's tradition of high speed train service and is a reminder of the railroad's once great, presence. It is currently Amtrak's ninth-busiest route, and the railroad's busiest line in the Midwest with 14 daily trains, 7 in each direction, and 12 on Sundays. As well as is second-shortest route on the Amtrak system, with the first one being the New Haven–Springfield Shuttle in Connecticut and Massachusetts. The Hiawatha’s ridership is very well and popular. It is a great way to travel between Chicago and Milwaukee as an alternative to driving on the parallel I-94. Here is what it is like to travel on the Hiawatha minus a few issues along the way and aggravating ringtones and sounds from cell-phones is pretty much the only disadvantage, otherwise. Enjoy, thanks for watching! Note: Please do not try to recommend corrections for any captions for all information is accurate and cannot be edited once it is uploaded as Youtube discontinued the ability to add video annotations. This video is free entertainment. Please feel free to comment and subscribe while you're at it. First Time in 40 years United States Total Solar Eclipse 2017 Visualizing the 2017 All-American Eclips On August 21, 2017, the Earth will cross the shadow of the Moon, creating a total solar eclipse. Eclipses happen about every six months, but this one is special. For the first time in almost 40 years, the path of the Moon's shadow passes through the continental United States. The video features several visualizations of this event. From behind the Earth, we see the night sides of both the Earth and Moon and the umbral and penumbral shadow cones projecting from the Moon. We then see the tilted orbit of the Moon and the long, thin shadow cones striking the Earth. In the view from behind the Moon, we see the daylit far side of the Moon and the western hemisphere of the Earth, and from this vantage point, the outline of the shadow on the Earth is circular. Most of the video shows a close-up view of the U.S. during the eclipse. Everyone there will see the Moon at least partially block the Sun, but those along the path of totality, shown in red, will see the Moon block the Sun entirely. The appearance of the Sun throughout the eclipse is shown for a number of locations in North America, with each Sun image oriented to the local horizon. Some of the visualizations use extremely long telephoto lenses to visually compress the scene, but all of them are geometrically accurate and true to scale. Go here for more details about the calculations and for links to each of the visualizations. Brought to you by Desert Diamond: http://ddcaz.com LOS ANGELES, Calif. (FOX 11 / CNS) - A motorist allegedly involved in a road-rage incident with San Gabriel police led authorities on an erratic pursuit Wednesday on freeways and surface streets that reached 100 mph at times, and the suspect at one point appeared to intentionally side-swipe a California Highway Patrol SUV involved in the chase. San Gabriel police notified the CHP about 11:30 a.m. that an officer in one if the agency's marked patrol cars had been involved in an road-rage incident with a suspect in an SUV and was chasing the vehicle. After winding through the East Hollywood area, with the suspect occasionally using the SUV to push through stalled traffic and side-swiping vehicles in his path, the chase went onto the southbound Hollywood (101) Freeway. About noon, the SUV -- a white Nissan Rogue with Colorado plates -- and the police vehicles had transitioned onto the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway through south Los Angeles. The suspect eventually exited the freeway in the Wilmington area, winding through sometimes congested city streets and even passing through a construction zone. He then got back on the northbound 110 Freeway in the Carson area then moved east on the Artesia (91) Freeway. At one point he appeared to intentionally swerve across multiple freeway lanes and side-swiped a CHP vehicle in the far left lane before speeding ahead. At about 12:40 p.m., the speeding suspect tried to exit the 110 Freeway at Norwalk Boulevard in the Cerritos area, but he clipped a slightly raised median and lost control of the SUV, which went into a spin and wound up rolling backward into some brush alongside the offramp. After several minutes, the suspect got out a rear door of the SUV, crouching beside the vehicle in an attempt to see where police were positioned. He got back in the vehicle, but a few moments later crawled out a window and tried to flee on foot. Police deployed a dog, which chased the suspect down and subdued him until officers caught up and took the man into custody. The suspect could be seen continuing to yell and acting belligerently as police tried to put him into a patrol unit.

My family and I took our first cross-country road trip from Ohio to Los Angeles. On our way there we stopped at Sweetie Pie's - Upper Crust in St. Louis and said if time permitted, we would stop by the Manchester Grove location on the way back. As it would be, we arrived in St. Louis on the way home minutes before Sweetie Pie's would open. The food was still just as good or better and the service at both of these restaurants are above excellence. A lovely woman who could sing her behind off along with a badd musician on keys added to the excellent dining experience. But why did she say that those were welcomed to come up and sing? Anyway, long story short, I drew a blank on something to sing so I sung my favorite, our National Anthem. Very fitting actually, since we had traveled back and forth across our beautiful nation.
