This is a hay feeder. We got the plans from Premier 1. Made with pressure treated 2X4 and 1/2" plywood. I attached it to the fence so that way I can feed them from outside. The size of the fencing depends on how big the goats or sheep are and how much hay you want them to be able to pull through at a time. Happy Farming!

Today I talk about some ideas for hay racks! Most Rabbit (and Guinea Pig) owners like to use a hay rack to keep hay more neat and convenient. Our hay hopper feeder saves you hay and money. The bale sits in the chain hopper not on the ground. Cattle reach into the feeder and have to consume the hay between the chains. This makes it difficult for them to pull large chunks of hay out. Any loose hay falls to the bottom and can be consumed later. We also manufactue horse, sheep, goat and buffalo feeders. To see photos of our products go to www.ActionSignsAndBillboards.com or call us at 507-677-2568.

Horses are not the neatest eaters. Alec shows many reasons why his model H-8 "hay-saver" round bale feeder is perfect for his horses and Winnie the donkey. Oops: Alec meant it weights 1,000 pounds at time stamp 7:05, not 200 pounds. Visit: Klene Pipe Structures, Greensburg Indiana, USA. https://www.klenepipe.com - part # H-8, Horse Hay Feeder

http://prairiefarmreport.com Please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE for new videos every week! Features: Gary Garman of Allan, Saskatchewan and his fairly large portable hay feeder that measures 17 feet wide and 96 feet long. It has a wooden sliding gate which is pushed along as the cattle clean up the feed. He feeds about 60 cows each winter and has a custom grinder fill the feeder. It is large enough it only requires to be filled twice each winter. It takes about a day for the grinder to fill the feeder. He estimates the feeder only allows for about 5% waste. It cost him about $3,000 to build and he is able to reuse most components of it every feeding season.

Potagergirl on the Homestead Using only a pair of pliers and 2x4 welded fence wire you can make a quick, easy, and most of all inexpensive hay feeder for your animals. Getting animals, having animals, we all know how expensive equipment can be. Coming up with a simple inexpensive solution is part of what we do to take good care of our goats, lamas, and other farm animals. Frustrated with plastic hampers that were easily broken, cages that did not allow the goats to eat all the hay, and just generally trying a variety of hay holders that simply did not work. I designed this one which has made for a happy goat house. They can easily pull the hay, less hay is wasted, and it is easy to make with fence scraps you probably already have on hand.

In this video I go into detail about how to build your very own Hay Feeder for livestock. I have 7 Head of cattle, and I needed a Hay feeder for the winter, but didn't want to spend a ton of money. I built a feeder for very cheap using scrap lumber, and primarily wood pallets. I have been using the feeder for about a month now, and I haven't had any problems with it.

Sometimes I get an idea and it actually works the way I envision. After years of trying to stop my goats from turning much of their hay into bedding, I've finally got something that works. If you have this same problem, I hope you will give this idea a try.

This project was designed with the non woodworker in mind. Although I use multiple tools to build mine, only one tool is absolutely necessary to complete it. Using reclaimed materials makes this DIY rabbit feeder free and it only took me 30 minutes to build it. Less time than it would have taken me to drive to a store and buy one.
