Doctors warn of aggressive form of skin cancer which is six times more likely to kill if it is not removed within two months Follow us https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRBtt6_uN-dDPS15EKnaEng Dermatologists have raised the alarm on an aggressive form of melanoma that looks like a harmless pimple but kills hundreds of Australians a year. Diagnosis delays mean people with the cancer are six times more likely to die than from other melanomas. Nodular melanomas usually appear on the skin as a red nodule rather than an ugly dark mole, leading doctors to mistake them for relatively harmless forms of skin cancer or even pimples. Nodular melanomas are particularly aggressive and should be diagnosed within two months, says Associate Professor John Kelly, a speaker at the annual scientific meeting of the Australasian College of Dermatologists in Melbourne. They are responsible for just 15 per cent of melanoma cases but cause 43 per cent of melanoma deaths. In Australia, that's around 550 deaths a year. But health professionals in general are not aware of what to look for, says Prof Kelly. 'The patient is often told there is nothing to worry about,' he said. Prof Kelly has called on doctors to familiarise themselves with the often harmless-looking but deadly nodular melanomas so that more lives can be saved. Currently, only about 41 per cent of nodular melanomas are accurately suspected to be melanoma at the time of removal. Nodular melanomas are also more deadly because they grow rapidly in depth - normally at four times the rate of other melanomas. 'This kind of melanoma we see more often in older men and on the head and neck rather than trunk and limbs,' he said. 'But that's just a slight preference it's not that they all occur in older men.' Prof Kelly wants doctors and patients to take urgent action if there's a ball on the skin that becomes bigger over a couple of months. Some of it is under the skin and some is above. 'If it has has been present for more than a month and grows bigger and bigger, it needs urgent removal. 'But we don't want to cause hysteria about every red nodule that people get. 'Something that has been stable for more than a year is not going to be a worry. And something that has been present of only days or weeks is probably also not a worry.'

Dr. G's Popper Kit: https://amzn.to/2GEJFON Blemish Removal Tools with Gloves: http://amzn.to/2v9QM8c Want the best sleep? http://www.buyRESTMORE.com Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the U.S. Every hour of every day one American dies from melanoma - that's approximately 10,000 per year. In 2018, over 178,000 Americans are expected to be diagnosed with melanoma. Of these, approximately, 91,000 will be diagnosed with invasive (Stage I, II, III or IV) melanoma and another 87,000 will be diagnosed with melanoma in situ (Stage 0). Melanoma is not just skin cancer. It can develop anywhere on the body - eyes, scalp, nails, feet, mouth, etc. Melanoma does not discriminate by age, race or gender. Melanoma is the leading cause of cancer death in young women ages 25-30 and the second leading cause of cancer death in women ages 30-35. In ages 15-29, melanoma is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer. The incidence of people under 30 developing melanoma is increasing faster than any other demographic group, soaring by 50% in women since 1980. Approximately 500 American children are diagnosed with melanoma each year. The majority of people diagnosed with melanoma are white men over the age of 50. Today, nearly 1 million people live with melanoma in the U.S. The lifetime risk of getting melanoma is about 1 in 40 for Caucasians, 1 in 200 for Hispanics and 1 in 1,000 for African Americans. Oops! I meant to publish this tomorrow, but I guess I'll let it go since this is a continuation of the video I published earlier today! I'll put up the thumbnail Monday, and if you need more information about this procedure please see the descriptions from the previous videos! Thank you for watching! To see part 1, Treatment of his Rhinophyma: https://youtu.be/NgQSxxBJ_qs Part 2, Treatment of his Rhinphyma: https://youtu.be/o2iDph1l5os This is "Mr Gold" who has a medical condition called rhinophyma which causes thickening or the skin on his nose. Many people are asking about whether he was in pain after treatment and I would describe the discomfort similar to a rug burn? No pain medication is needed. It's important to keep the area moist with antibiotic ointment as it heals which can take a couple weeks. I will try to post how he looks 3 weeks after this treatment TOMORROW. Also, yes I was really sick! I got the flu and it knocked me out! Rhinophyma, is a component of rosacea (a pretty common condition especially among people of Celtic descent), but it is more commonly seen in men vs women, and predominantly affects the nose, causing thickening of the skin of the nose, and dilated, patulous pores. The thickening of the skin of the nose is due to a excess production of sebaceous glands (oil glands). While by no means is this a life-threatening condition, it can be embarrassing to those who have it. Rosacea and rhinophyma occurs most commonly in people of Celtic descent, with light hair and light eyes and this type of light skin complexion is actually beneficial in terms of healing when treating rhinophyma with electrosurgery as you see me do here. Essentially I'm using an electric current to deliver heat to "cut" through skin tissue while cauterizing blood vessels at the same time. I use a wire loop, circular cautery device to allow me to re-sculpt the nostril as close to what I believe it looks like before the area thickened due to this condition. I will post an update on my YouTube channel so you can see how he looks now, but if you can't wait, visit my Instagram @drpimplepopper or @drsandralee to see how wonderful he looks now. I'm ecstatic about the results but most importantly so is he! One important thing to know: rosacea and rhinophyma are not caused be alcoholism.. rosacea can be exacerbated by many factors, most commonly spicy foods, sunlight, exercise, caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, but these do not cause the condition of rosacea and rhinophyma. http://www.barrylyckamd.com Melanoma skin cancer can be a deadly killer -- are you at risk from melanoma skin cancer? If you have an irregular & changing mole on your body, watch this video from Dr Barry Lycka to discover more. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bcu2_O7ydMk Today we are going to talk about the third type of skin cancer called Melanoma. Hi I'm Dr Barry Lycka host of Inside Cosmetic Surgery Today on webtalkradio.net - your inside source of information on cosmetic surgery. Every week I talk to a new guest who will enlighten you about the new things happening in cosmetic surgery. Well a melanoma makes most doctors shake - and they should, because these skin cancers are deadly killers. Most melanomas are caught early, however, so we can prevent them from killing a person. But when they spread throughout a person's body, we get very worried about them, and it's very easy for them to spread. My father died of a melanoma several years ago. A sad story but unfortunately the cancer had spread even by the time it had been diagnosed. So what are melanomas? They are mole cancers. They are spots that are brown or red or blue. They are moles on the body that are Asymetrical meaning that one side doesn't look like the other. They have Border irregularity, or jagged edges like the coast of vancouver island. They have Color irregularity, red, white, blue or shades of brown. They have a larger Diameter, greater than 6 millimeters. And finally they are Evolving. So all of these changes are very, very important. If you have moles on your body, that are growing and changing, do yourself a favor and get them checked! And if you want to ask me a question - visit my website and click the 'Ask A Question' button http://www.barrylyckamd.com I'm Dr Barry Lycka - talk to you soon!

Cancer is multifaceted, and generally treated with big pharma products, like chemicals, radiation, and chemotherapy. What if there were foods that naturally killed cancer ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpHcLxD8Drk Please subscribe and watch this video until the end to know the complete information. These are the 5 foods that help get rid of cancer cells developing in our bodies. 1. THE BLUEBERRY And RASPBERRY EFFECT. Blueberries and raspberries are plants that are well known by their anti cancer capabilities, especially when it comes to ovarian cancer. Phytochemicals are the reason why they have their dark hue. and the secret of their effectiveness, which are proven to be great for cancer prevention. 2. GREEN TEA. Tea is the best source of catechins in the human diet, and green tea contains about three times the quantity of catechins found in black tea. In laboratory studies, green tea has been shown to slow or completely prevent cancer development in colon, liver, breast and prostate cells. 3. THE TOMATO EFFECT. According to recent Harvard research, there is up to 50% reduction in chances for prostate cancer in people who regularly ate cooked tomatoes. It was proven that tomatoes are incredibly effective in inhibiting the angiogenesis, and the reason why this fruit is so effective is that they contain high amounts of a substance called lycopene, which has strong anti angiogenic properties. In addition, lycopene concentration increases when it is subjected to higher temperatures. That is why cooked tomatoes are very effective when it comes to stopping cancer growth. 4. DARK CHOCOLATE. For many people this is almost unbelievable. Dark chocolate is an incredibly tasty dessert, which also happens to be incredibly healthy to eat, it is good for your heart condition, your overall happiness and also for fighting cancer cells. 5. TURMERIC. This plant has various health benefits, and it is well known by the effectiveness in fat reduction, turmeric is also used as a preventive measure against cancer. It seems to be able to kill cancer cells and prevent more from growing. It has the best effects on breast cancer, bowel cancer, stomach cancer and skin cancer cells. Nodular Melanoma accounts for roughly 10-15% of all melanomas. It is more frequent in males than females, with a ratio of 2:1. They occur most often in the fifth or sixth decade. NMs affect any cutaneous site, but are more often found on the extremities. Lesions appear and evolve over months and tend to extend vertically in the skin. NM is most commonly dark brown, red-brown, or red-black and is dome-shaped, polypoid, or pedunculated. It is occasionally amelanotic or flesh colored and resembles flesh-colored dermal nevi or basal cell carcinoma. These amelanotic melanomas represent 2% of all melanomas. Lesions eventually erode, ulcerate and bleed. NM is the type of melanoma most frequently misdiagnosed because it resembles a blood blister, hemangioma, dermal nevus, or polyp. Firm pressure applied to a hemangioma will in many instances force the blood out of the lesion and eliminate the color. Melanomas are solid and their shape and color density can not be changed with firm finger pressure.

In this video I will show you a common weed that can be found in most backyards throughout the world. The milky sap can be dabbed on to skin cancers and warts as a natural and free cure. Basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas are the most common human cancers, and most Australians will develop one or more of these during their lifetime. In Queensland, the mortality rate is about 50 per cent. Petty spurge is a common weed mainly found in southern Queensland, but it will grow anywhere the seed falls and thrives in areas that are shaded and well watered. It is suitable for anyone to grow, even in the smallest of gardens. It closely resembles scarlet pimpernel and chickweed, and is also known around the world as the radium plant, or milkweed. Dab the milky sap on affected areas twice a day and allow it to air dry. Before long the area will turn very red and possibly scab over. Continue treatment until the signs of the infection or cancer have cleared up. This should not replace the [potential need for professional medical care. Do some more of your own research on Petty Spurge before trying this home remedy

This clip from Channel 10's The Project reports on Cancer Council Australia's launch of National Skin Cancer Action Week 2012. On Wednesday November 21st, Cancer Council Australia issued a stark warning to Australian blokes; every day, two men aged 45 or over die of melanoma. Men aged 45 and over are at more than double the risk of dying of melanoma than women the same age and yet they're still failing to take sun protection seriously. Although melanoma can develop anywhere on the body, around 1 in 3 cases in men occur on the back. Tennis legends John Newcombe and Tony Roche, who have both had skin cancers, are working with Cancer Council to urge men aged 45 and over to 'watch your back' in two ways: always protect yourself in the sun and check your entire body for skin changes. Ask your wife, partner or a mate to check your back, and anywhere else you can't see yourself. Melanoma patient Garry Callaghan, 60, from Loftus, NSW, understands the importance of the message after being diagnosed with a malignant melanoma on his back. Look for a new mole, or any change in shape, colour or size of a mole or spot. Visit your doctor if you notice any changes. Visit http://www.cancer.org.au/watchyourback for more information

If you were to eat these unassuming greenish mushrooms by mistake, you wouldn’t know your liver is in trouble until several hours later. The death cap has been spreading across California. Can scientists find a way to stop it? SUBSCRIBE to Deep Look! http://goo.gl/8NwXqt DEEP LOOK: a new ultra-HD (4K) short video series created by KQED San Francisco and presented by PBS Digital Studios. Explore big scientific mysteries by going incredibly small. Find out more on KQED Science: http://ww2.kqed.org/science/2016/02/23/this-mushroom-starts-killing-you-before-you-even-realize-it/ Where do death cap mushrooms grow? In California, they grow mainly under coast live oaks. They have also been found under pines, and in Yosemite Valley under black oaks. Why do death caps grow under trees? As many fungi do, death cap mushrooms live off of trees, in what’s called a mycorrhizal relationship. They send filaments deep down to the trees’ roots, where they attach to the very thin root tips. The fungi absorb sugars from the trees and give them nutrients in exchange. Where do California’s death cap mushrooms come from? Biologist Anne Pringle, at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, has done research that shows that death caps likely snuck into California from Europe attached to the roots of imported plants, as early as 1938. How deadly are death cap mushrooms? Between 2010 and 2015, five people died in California and 57 became sick after eating the unassuming greenish mushrooms, according to the California Poison Control System. One mushroom cap is enough to kill a human being, and they’re also poisonous to dogs. Death caps are believed to be the number one cause of fatal mushroom poisonings worldwide. What happens if you eat a death cap mushroom? A toxin in the mushroom destroys your liver cells. Dr. Kent Olson, co-medical director of the San Francisco Division of the California Poison Control System, said that for the first six to 12 hours after they eat the mushroom, victims of the death cap feel fine. During that time, a toxin in the mushroom is quietly injuring their liver cells. Patients then develop severe abdominal pain, diarrhea and vomiting. “They can become very rapidly dehydrated from the fluid losses,” said Olson. Dehydration can cause kidney failure, which compounds the damage to the liver. For the most severe cases, the only way to save the patient is a liver transplant. Understanding Non-melanoma Cancer of the skin (UNC) is a tutorial on exploring understanding non-melanoma cancer of the skin (UNC) and the treatment options. It differentiates between the three primary layers of the skin and the forms of skin cancer that can develop in each, as well as the likeliness of spread. The video helps to understand the risk factors for skin cancer. The video is also about a center of excellence for skin cancer treatment in Cary, North Carolina with top doctors and 5 star reviews. There are three common forms of skin cancer that are distinguished by the types of cells affected. Basal cell carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer. This type of skin cancer does not typically spread, but does require treatment. Basal cell carcinomas most often develop in areas of the skin exposed to the sun. Squamous cell carcinomas develop in the middle layer of the epidermis. This type of cancer can spread and can be life threatening if not treated appropriately. Abnormal growths of melanocytes, called malignant melanomas, are the most aggressive form of skin cancer. Melanomas can spread quickly to other parts of the body and to organs. This type of skin cancer can be fatal if not detected and treated early. People with fair skin are at increased risk for developing this form of cancer. Increased sun exposure and a history of sunburns increase the risk for developing skin cancer. Understanding Non-melanoma Cancer of the skin (UNC) is about a center of excellence for skin cancer treatment in Cary, North Carolina with top doctors and 5 star reviews. Mohs Micrographic Surgery is a specialized treatment for certain skin cancers. It combines the surgical removal of cancer with the immediate microscopic examination of tissue by the Mohs surgeon and specific mapping of the surgical site to accurately identify and remove the skin cancer. Mohs surgery is the most precise surgical method for skin cancer removal with the highest cure rate (up to 99%). The Cary Skin Center specializes in Mohs micrographic and reconstructive surgery. Our team is dedicated to providing friendly and compassionate care. The surgery is performed in private surgical suites and each patient’s care is delivered with excellence by our superb team members. We are committed to patient safety, privacy and quality care. Understanding Non-melanoma Cancer of the skin (UNC) is a critical important resource when doing research for the reviews of skin cancer specialists, basal cell cancer treatments, melanoma treatments, squamous cell skin carcinoma treatments, how to treat skin cancer naturally, how is skin cancer diagnosed, prevention of skin cancer, skin cancer treatment cream, squamous cell skin carcinoma pictures, skin cancer treatment center, best hospital for skin cancer, top skin cancer doctors, skin cancer doctor near me, mohs surgery, cary skin center, best surgery center for skin cancer, skin cancer doctor called, free skin cancer screening, skin cancer treatment, skin cancer doctor called, skin cancer specialists reviews, what type of doctor treats skin cancer, skin cancer physicians, best skin cancer dermatologist NC, top melanoma specialist, squamous cell skin carcinoma treatments, basal cell cancer treatments. Understanding Non-melanoma Cancer of the skin (UNC) is an important video when you understand that the term, “skin cancer,” can be frightening and the need to find trusted doctors by reading patient reviews. Squamous cell carcinomas detected at an early stage and removed promptly are almost always curable and cause minimal damage. However, left untreated, they eventually penetrate the underlying tissues and can become disfiguring. A small percentage even metastasize to local lymph nodes, distant tissues, and organs and can become fatal. Therefore, any suspicious growth should be seen by a physician without delay. A tissue sample (biopsy) will be examined under a microscope to arrive at a diagnosis. If tumor cells are present, treatment is required. Fortunately, there are several effective ways to eradicate squamous cell carcinoma. The choice of treatment is based on the tumor’s type, size, location, and depth of penetration, as well as the patient's age and general health. Skin Cancer Videos has renowned Mohs surgery and reconstructive surgeons who are experts in the treatment of skin cancer and have 5 star patient reviews. As Fellows of the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS), both physicians completed rigorous Mohs Micrographic and Dermatologic Surgery fellowships. Dr. Clark completed his fellowship at Duke University School of Medicine and Dr. Flynn’s fellowship was at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. A blackhead is also called an open comedo (single for comedone), and it is a clogged pore in the skin that is open to the air. Keratin (skin protein) and sebum (oil) combine to block the pore. They are often found on the face and trunk. but they can be found anywhere on the body. Blackheads are not clogged with dirt, but it is the exposure to air that causes oxidation turning the internal contents black. They can be extracted using a comedone extractor. I usually use an 11 blade (a blade that comes to a sharp point) and a Shaumberg type comedone extractor. Subscribe to my Dermatology educational channel, Dr Pimple Popper University! Trying to figure out how to win against cancer? Or better still, how to reduce your risk of the life-threatening disease? If yes, you're not alone! Known as the second leading cause of death globally (responsible for up to 8.8 million deaths in 2015), there's no doubt that cancer is a scourge that needs to be stopped! The good news? The right foods can actually increase your chances of winning the scary battle with cancer! So yes, there are certain super cancer-fighting foods that target and destroy cancer and cancer-causing cells. And of course, this video will let you in on not just one or two but 5 super foods that kill the killer disease! 1. Broccoli Taking the first spot is Broccoli. A cruciferous vegetable that comes from the same family as cauliflower, kale, and cabbage. Right off the bat, broccoli is packed with phytochemicals and antioxidants including glucoraphanin and indole-3-carbinol. The good news? Both these antioxidants boast the ability to reduce the risk of breast, prostate, gastric and cervical cancer. But that's not all! This super green vegetable is also high in sulforaphane, a potent compound supports the body's protective enzymes and helps flush out cancer-causing chemicals. Just be sure to become best friends with your broccoli — and oh, the amazing benefits are best raw! 2. Garlic As with other members of the allium family (say shallots, leek, and onions) garlic is loaded with powerful antioxidants that can facilitate the removal of free radicals from the body. For the most part, raw garlic can help fight colon, esophageal, stomach and breast cancers. In addition to battling cancer, garlic can also lower cholesterol levels, reduce blood pressure, boost immunity and improve brain function. Simply chop a clove of fresh, crushed garlic and add to whatever recipe that tickles your fancy! 3. Berries We all love eating berries — there's no doubt about that! But now you have all the more reason to snack on them every now and then. Yes, besides being amazingly delicious, berries are rich in cancer-fighting phytonutrients. So of course, you won't be wrong to start stocking up on everything from strawberries to blueberries to goji berries and even black raspberries. Speaking of which, black raspberries contain an incredibly high amount of phytochemicals known as anthocyanins. Essentially, these phytochemicals inhibit the growth of premalignant cells and prevent the formation of new blood vessels. To sum it berries are effective in reducing the risk of esophageal, colon, oral and skin cancers. 4. Tomatoes Why this juicy red fruit? Well, it turns out that tomato is the best dietary source of lycopene — a carotenoid/antioxidant that brings about the red hue. So yes, lycopene boast the capacity to fight the growth of certain cancers including endometrial cancer — one that's responsible for up to 8,000 deaths a year! The antioxidant is also effective in fighting lung, prostate, and stomach cancers. So how can you get the full benefits of tomatoes? It's pretty simple — just cook them! The big idea here is that heat Increases the concentration of lycopene your body is able to absorb. 5. Walnuts Walnuts contain phytosterols — cholesterol-like molecules that have been proven to slow down breast cancer cell growth. What's more, walnuts can protect against prostate cancer — it's capable of slowing tumor growth and preventing their development. So what now? Well, just start munching already! Cambridge University's Under the Microscope is a collection of videos that show glimpses of the natural and man-made world in stunning close-up. Check out the rest of the series here: http://bit.ly/A6bwCE In this video we see a killer T cell of the immune system attacking a cancer cell. Professor Gillian Griffiths: "Cells of the immune system protect the body against pathogens. If cells in our bodies are infected by viruses, or become cancerous, then killer cells of the immune system identify and destroy the affected cells. Cytotoxic T cells are very precise and efficient killers. They are able to destroy infected or cancerous cells, without destroying healthy cells surrounding them. The Wellcome Trust funded laboratory of Professor Gillian Griffiths, at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research, investigates just how this is accomplished. By understanding how this works, we can develop ways to control killer cells. This will allow us to find ways to improve cancer therapies, and ameliorate autoimmune diseases caused when killer cells run amok and attack healthy cells in our bodies." Cytotoxic T cells are just 10 microns in length: approximately one-tenth the width of a human hair. These movies are 92 times real time. The original footage shown was made by Alex Ritter, a PhD student on the NIH-OxCam programme, in the laboratory of Professor Gillian Griffiths at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research and the Department of Medicine of the Clinical School of the University of Cambridge. The images were acquired using an Andor Revolution spinning disk system with an Olympus microscope. Professor Griffiths is a Wellcome Trust Principal Research Fellow. DOCS: The Girl Who Cries Blood SUBSCRIBE: http://bit.ly/Oc61Hj Twinkle is a 13-year-old girl from the northern Indian city of Lucknow. She suffers from a frightening and as yet undiagnosed condition: for nearly two years, she has cried tears of blood. Twinkle also spontaneously bleeds from her head, hands and feet. The youngster’s Hindu neighbours and local devotees of the Goddess Kali believe she’s possessed by a restless spirit. Others think her mysterious illness is reminiscent of ‘stigmata’: a manifestation of the wounds suffered by Christ during his final days and crucifixion. Throughout the history of the Catholic faith, just over 300 people have reportedly claimed to be stigmatics – the majority of them women. Desperate for answers, Twinkle’s relatives have taken her to see doctors and specialists across the country, but none have been able to treat her. Worse still, the Indian medical establishment have accused the family of faking the phenomenon. This documentary follows Twinkle and those close to her as they seek the opinion of various religious figures, from bishops to gurus, and also meet leading Paediatric Haematologist Dr. George Buchanan, who’s travelled to India to meet the teenager. He thinks she may have a problem with her platelets – cells that help blood to clot – or a form of cancer, but he’ll need to run tests to find out more. Watch as Twinkle and her mother seek answers by consulting both medical and mystical sources. What is the truth? Is Twinkle blessed, or possessed? Does she have a rare illness? Or could she be the victim of abuse? Timebomb was launched in January 2000, following the success of the How to remove a skin cancer campaign. Timebomb provided SunSmart with the opportunity to communicate about preventing skin cancer and detecting it early. SunSmart received a letter from a melanoma patient who expressed their appreciation for the commercial. After viewing the advertisement, they had a spot and lump checked, which was found to be a melanoma that was treated effectively thanks to early detection.

Animated video by http://www.gisteo.com. Contact us for more information. About Skin of Steel Skin of Steel is working toward a cure for melanoma by supporting the development of a national, collaborative Melanoma Tissue Bank. Research of other cancers like breast and prostate have benefited enormously from having access to primary tumor tissue through tissue banks. Melanoma researchers need a similar resource in order to make advances in treatment and, eventually, find a cure. Why is this bank needed? A national Melanoma Tissue Bank of annotated, fresh-frozen, primary melanoma tissue is the fundamental research tool that does not exist yet for public or private research. Consequently, melanoma research lags significantly behind the progress that has been made in other cancer research. How will this bank be different? Several individual melanoma tissue banks already exist at research institutions. Most lack “fresh frozen” samples of “primary” tumor tissue; even fewer preserve both DNA and RNA. They also lack the network necessary to have a national sample tissue pool of sufficient size, demographics, and full annotation for effective research. What will researchers learn? Susceptibility, diagnostic, and prognostic biomarkers for melanoma are anticipated to be identified from the research generated by the Melanoma Tissue Bank, leading to more effective personalized diagnostics, preemptive treatment, and targeted therapies. What are the goals and who's involved? The Melanoma Tissue Bank will have branches at four medical research institutions across the U.S.: • University of Pittsburgh Medical Center – Principal Investigator John Kirkwood, M.D. • California Pacific Medical Center – Principal Investigator Mohammed Kashani- Sabet, M.D. • Oregon Health & Science University – Principal Investigator Sancy Leachman, M.D. • Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center at Northwestern University – Principal Investigator Jeffrey Wayne, M.D. Each institution is recognized for its proven commitment to melanoma research. This network will gather 500 melanoma specimens with full annotation and accompanying blood and urine samples over two years, yielding 50,000 assays for research. Both public and private medical researchers engaged in qualified research will be able to access the tissue bank and data for minimal administrative fees. How much funding does the bank need? A total of $3.3M covers the first three years of start up and maintenance. Melanoma, one of the most genetically complex cancers, has enough research laboratories. Now the right tissue specimens are needed to change the landscape of that research.
A picture of a young mother showing her face covered in bloody scars and blisters has been shared over 50,000 times since it was posted on Facebook last month. 27-year-old Tawny Willoughby, a nurse in Alabama, bravely shared a shocking selfie of her face as a warning of the dangers of tanning beds. Willoughby confessed that she has been tanning ever since high school because her tan fades really fast. She admitted to using sunbeds four or five times a week. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets.
