Check your breasts! My breast cancer story so far....

I want to just spread a little bit of awareness, before I was diagnosed with breast cancer I knew nothing about it. The importance of early detection is vital, it saves lives! I want to get girls checking their breasts every month so they know what's normal for them and what's not. I want girls to follow up any concerns they have, even if the Doctor says there's nothing to worry about. Please help share this video to raise awareness about breast cancer X www.hayley-sarah.blogspot.com https://www.instagram.com/hayleyswalkerart/ https://www.facebook.com/Hayley-Walker-Art-198264426878388/ www.hayleywalkerart.com

Sarah's Breast Cancer Story

12:32
At 27, Sarah Pascual was working part-time as a waitress, going to nursing school full-time, an active swimmer and training for a volleyball tournament. Sounds like a lot right? Well, there was even more on Sarah’s plate when she found a lump after playing volleyball and swimming. As a nursing student, she knew something was wrong. She knew that the lump she had found could potentially be cancer. Uninsured, Sarah was able to get seen by the doctor thanks to The Susan G. Komen grant and The Cancer Therapy and Research Center in San Antonio. Because of her age and not having a family history of breast cancer, she was told that she didn’t have the right kind of breast cancer. They ended up doing an ultrasound instead of a mammogram which the doctor had ordered. When the ultrasound came back, it came back normal and they sent Sarah on her way. Almost a year later, she grew a second lump and through a biopsy, found out that Sarah indeed had cancer. Sarah shares the rest of her story and gives you advice on how she was able to raise money for her breast cancer treatments in this video. My Breast Cancer Story

06:35
Hearing the words "you have breast cancer known as DCIS", it was crazy scary. I was only 26 years old and I just graduated college, went through brain surgery and now I was diagnosed with cancer. Even though these past four years have been so hard on not only myself but my entire family. I wanted to share my breast cancer story because through this journey I started to see that people still think one way and that's cancer happens to older adults. That's not true, cancer affects all ages and so with telling my story, I hope to educate and inspire others. Blog: https://wordpress.com/post/kaitlynlife101.wordpress.com/1647

Jessica's Breast Cancer Survival Story

01:52
Jessica, a breast cancer survivor and Herbalife Nutrition employee, was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 30. “I am really diligent about checking myself. I have a condition called Fibrocystic Breast Disease, which means benign lumps form in my breasts, and I have to keep an eye on them because one could be malignant. That is how I was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 30: self-examination saved my life. Cancer does not discriminate; it is not exclusive of people over a certain age. It may be hard for young people to acknowledge, but doing so can lead them to listen to their body, take care of themselves, and get regular check-ups.” #PurposeInPink https://hrbl.me/2SuRBVD

Battling Breast Cancer: Tara Ernske’s Story

04:10
As a nurse, Tara often helps patients deal with life-threatening illness. But when a lump was discovered during her yearly gynecological appointment in January 2014 and she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the young age of 30, Tara suddenly found herself on the other side of the experience. During the breast exam portion of her yearly gynecological exam, Tara’s doctor felt a lump. A baseline mammogram did not show anything, and so an ultrasound was ordered next. The ultrasound confirmed that the lump was not a cyst. Tara was referred to Dr. Mark Cripe, DO, a breast and melanoma surgeon with OhioHealth. Dr. Cripe ordered a biopsy, which showed that the lump was breast cancer – stage 1, grade 2 invasive adenocarcinoma. After an MRI following the breast biopsy, Dr. Cripe sat down with Tara and her family, to present them with all of the information about her diagnosis as well as all of her treatment options. “Really, with breast cancer, there are a lot of options,” explains Dr. Cripe. “It’s not just a one size fits all.” After hearing all of her options, Tara chose to have a double mastectomy (surgical removal of the breasts), which went very well. When she would come in for her follow-up visits, Tara was glad that the first questions her doctor asked were always about how she was doing as a person, not about her diagnosis. In the end, Tara says she can’t say enough words about what was done for her. “Thank you for taking the cancer away from me.” To learn more about breast cancer treatments, please visit http://bit.ly/1SArKU4 To find a mammogram location near you, go to http://bit.ly/1RXRiNw Do you have questions about breast cancer care? Breast Cancer: A Man's Survival Story

03:08
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to educate everyone about detection and treatment, encourage fundraising, and celebrate survivors. According to the Susan G. Komen foundation, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States and the second leading cause of cancer deaths among women in the United States. A Hixson native, Clarence Willingham, wants to spread the message that breast cancer is a people's disease not a female's disease. He is a strong man and a breast cancer survivor sharing his story to encourage other men to go pink. "I felt a lump on my breast and I kind of figured it was a sist," said Willingham. Then that lump got a little bigger and a little bigger. It was March of 2012 and Clarence Willingham was a relatively healthy, working 57-year-old. "I was thinking it was something else, hoping it wasn't breast cancer, but in the back of my mind I was thinking that but I was hoping it wasn't," said Willingham. The urgency about that lump then sky-rocketed. "The next morning it started to bleed profusely," said Willingham. One trip to the emergency room at Memorial hospital in Hixson and Willingham's life changed forever. "The doctor looked at it and the first thing she said was you have breast cancer. Everyone was crying you know and thinking the worst things," said Willingham. Doctors diagnosed Willingham with stage 4 breast cancer. According to the Susan G. Komen foundation this is the poorest prognosis of breast cancer. "I went through the whole 9 yards, chemotherapy, went through radiation..." said Willingham. Through it all, he focused on hope and that he can be beat cancer. "My wife, the love of my life, she kept me going. We gonna fight it

Cancer Survivor Story - Elyn Jacobs - Stage 3 Breast Cancer

08:58
Elyn Jacobs is a member of our Truth About Cancer team. Her breast cancer survivor story began in 2007, when at age 45 she was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer. As her own mother was losing a battle to breast cancer at the time with conventional treatment methods (chemotherapy and radiation), Elyn decided that that would not be her fate. After all, she had 2 young boys to raise and wanted to see them grow into men. She went to her appointed oncologist and explained to her how she wanted to cure her breast cancer naturally. To her surprise, the oncologist was on board with Elyn, but explained that while doctors are in medical school they aren’t taught anything about nutrition or natural ways of dealing with disease and told her to search for a holistic doctor. That’s when she found Dr. Mitch Gaynor. Dr. Gaynor helped her with her nutritional supplements and gave some meditation tapes but he also brought something else to light. He explained to Elyn that something else may have actually caused her cancer and it was probably an emotional trauma that had happened to her before she was 5 years old. Over the next few years Dr. Gaynor continued to follow her progress. Then in May of 2014 an energy healer was the first to alert Elyn that her cancer was back. She later had a biopsy and not only had her cancer come back, it was now stage 3. Knowing she was going to heal her Stage 3 breast cancer naturally, she began using many different alternative cancer treatments and by 2015 the cancer was gone. And she knew how deadly breast cancer could be at her age. As Leanna is someone devoted to holistic and natural health, she was fully aware of how toxic and damaging chemotherapy and radiation is. Find out what she chose instead, because she was told that it was the only way to avoid radiation. Still, she thought she was home-free from chemo. A panel of 12 doctors had told her she didn’t need it. That’s until she got word that – because of a test that showed she’d have a 20% chance of recurrence even if she took Tamoxifen – she had to have chemo after all. And it was at this low point, when each day was filled with fear and anxiety about what to do next, that she discovered The Truth About Cancer. And it changed her life.
