Watch: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfNuxB6ZGy0) Dog Tooth Infection Home Remedies We all want our pets to be healthy and happy, but if they are not eating it makes it hard for them to be that way. One possible cause for your dog not eating could be related to some sort of dental issue. Here are dog tooth infection home remedies which you can make use of in order to keep your pet eating, full of energy and full of fun. Though our home remedies can help treat tooth infection for your dog, severe infections will need the attention of a veterinary professional. 1. Baking Soda One of the safest and most convenient home remedies to prevent and treat dog tooth infection is through the use of baking soda. What to do: * Moisten a soft-bristled toothbrush and dip it in baking soda. It is not necessary to load the brush-up, because a little goes a long way. * Gently brush your dog’s teeth. You do not need to apply pressure and won’t be able to if your dog’s teeth are sensitive. 2. Calendula One of the great things about calendula or pot marigold is that it is gentle wound healing. This flower makes an excellent home remedy for dog tooth infection. What to do: * Place 1 Tbsp of dried calendula flowers in a cup. * Pour 1 cup of hot water over the flowers, cover and allow it to steep until it cools. * Dip a cotton swab in the tea and apply it to the swollen gums of your dog. 3. Ceylon Cinnamon There are a ton of great properties to help with dog tooth infection present in Ceylon cinnamon, making it an excellent home remedy to keep on hand. What to do: * You can mix 1/8 tsp per day for small dogs, ¼ tsp per day for medium dogs, and ½ tsp per day of Ceylon cinnamon for larger dogs in their food. * Ceylon cinnamon essential oil can be substituted for powdered cinnamon at the dosage of 2 drops, 4 drops, and 6 drops respectively. 4. Coconut Oil One of the best home remedies to prevent tooth decay as well as bring relief to a dog’s tooth infection comes in the form of coconut oil. What to do: * Simply dip a fine bristled toothbrush in coconut oil and gently brush your dog’s teeth. * Add a little-powdered cinnamon to give it a little boost if you like. * Brush your dog’s teeth a minimum of 3 to 4 times weekly, but daily will offer the best results. 5. Echinacea Most consider Echinacea to be something of cold remedy, but it is also an excellent home remedy for a dog tooth infection. What to do: * Brew a strong cup of Echinacea tea. * Cover the cup and allow the tea to cool. * Use a cotton swab to rub the tea on your dog’s gums. * Repeat this 2 or 3 times per day until the infection is gone. Tooth Root Abscess in a Dog with Doc Pawsitive

03:06
Doc Pawsitive discusses tooth root abscesses in dogs, a fairly common occurrence, that often results in a sudden hard painful swelling on the side of the face just beneath the eye. The tooth that is usually affected is the large upper molar in the back of the dog's mouth, called the carnassial tooth. There are a variety of reasons for tooth root abscesses and infections including gingivitis, plaque and tartar accumulation, periodontal disease and even a tooth root bruising or dmage from dogs chewing on something very hard such as a bone, hard stick, rock or other object that may bruise the tooth root or otherwise crack or damage the tooth.

Carnassial tooth abscess is treated Pt 4

05:09
The decayed premolar 4 had caused an abscess in this 13-year-old Jack Russell. It has been extracted. For this old dog, there is the high anaethestic risk and slight fever. I gave the dog an IV drip with antibiotic and painkiller for over 1 hour before doing the dental work. This is important as an old dog is very weak and anaesthesia must be very minimal to ensure that the dog is alive at the end of surgery. She recovered and goes home to a happy young lady owner and family. Vaccination was requested and given. The dog is awake after I gave Antisedan IM to reverse the effect of Domitor so that she can breathe normally. Yearly dental check up is best.

A 12-year-old Miniature Schnauzer has an early carnassial tooth abscess

01:01
21 Oct 2017. A rare discovery of a likely early stage carnassial tooth abscess. The dog is not happy with further examination. See image taken. Carnassial tooth abscess starts from the infection of the roots of the carnassial tooth, also known as the 4th premolar tooth. The gums swell and later, a non-healing wound appears on the facial area below the right eye. In this early stage, there is no facial wound. The video is educational to show an early stage of carnassial tooth abscess. Dental examination yearly is advised for dog owners during yearly vaccination.

Carnaissal Tooth Abscess in an old dog

02:30
Infected gums and decayed upper back tooth led to bacterial infection of the mouth and later, the heart. This is due to the lack of dental care for the dog over many years. Many of the older baby boomer generation pet owners in Singapore neglect seeking dental treatment for their dogs but the younger generation is kinder and much better educated to ensure that their pets have good teeth and gums. It may be time consuming to brush the dog's teeth. Some dogs object to teeth cleaning by owners. An annual dental check up by the vet is advised if you want your dog to live to a ripe old age. Many Singaporean pet owners go to the groomers to get their dog's tooth tartar scrapped off and cleaned as they have the erroneous belief that general anaesthesia will kill their dogs. Anaesthesia nowadays is very safe for the older dog and fatalities are very rare if the vet and his or her staff are careful and has experience in anaesthesia. More videos at www.toapayohvets.com/videos.htm. Veterinary clinical research & educational articles for owners and vet students are at www.toapayohvets.com Delay in seeking regular dental check ups may result in oral tumours, bad breath and loose decayed teeth. This case study of veterinary dental treatment at Toa Payoh Vets is presented.Yearly or every 2-yearly dental check up is advised for dog owners who care very much that their dogs will live to a ripe old age to avoid bacterial infections of the mouth spreading to the heart and to prevent mouth tumours due to poor oral hygiene. A 17-year-old Jack Russell has a carnaissal tooth abscess 2/8

"For the past several weeks, no such cases," I said to the owner of this 17-year-old Jack Russell owner. "This week, I have 3 similar cases of carnaissal tooth abscess. Your dog is the oldest. I just operated on a 12-year-old Miniature Schnauzer and earlier, a 9-year-old Jack Russell X Shetland!" June 7, 2014, the owners came with this much loved Jack Russell for the operation to extract the rigrt carnaissal tooth. I had informed them of the very high anaesthetic risks as this dog is equivalent to 17x7 = 119 years of woman. This dog had anti-inflammatory injection and antibiotics for around 10 days before this surgery. Will she survive? .

IV drip continues. Illustration to explain and show the rotten decayed shrunkened roots of the carnaissal tooth (premolar 4). As at 2 days after surgery, the dog is OK at home. It is amazing that this 17-year-old dog did survive the anaesthesia as this is not a given. Let the dog have 7-10 days of antibiotics before extraction to lessen the risk. No blood test or X-rays were taken to save money for the owner but in theory, they ought to be done..Yearly dental check up and scaling would have prevented the formation of carnaissal tooth abscess.

Our cat Spot had a large mass show up on his side in just under a week. We treated it with Oregano essential oil topically. The night before this video we shaved around the mass so we could apply the oil directly to the skin. Earlier this day I noticed a dark spot on the mass that was not there the night before. My wife and I applied a mix of Oregano oil and nano silver solution topically and about 10 minutes later is when this video picks up. The abscess popped on it's own.

Pet Update | Snoopy #2 -Abscesses

11:22
Here is another Snoopy update video from Monday, sorry I haven't uploaded it sooner, the last few days have been crazy. This video got really long so the next video will explain what happened at the vets. Basically, the abscesses stopped responding to the Baytril and started getting bigger again so I rang the vet. He went to see the vet who said to bring him in for the day on Tuesday for some tests. Monday night Snoopy started going downhill again so I was super worried. The next video will explain what happened at the vets. A huge thank you as always to everyone who has supported us through this difficult time xxx Probiotics: http://www.vet-medic.com/small-animals-c76/probiotics-and-supplements-c130/protexin-veterinary-protexin-bio-lapis-rabbits-2g-single-sachets-p7446 Info about probiotics: http://www.guinealynx.info/probiotics.html Antibiotics: http://www.guinealynx.info/antibiotic_advice.html http://www.guinealynx.info/antibiotics.html More frequent updates on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TheSmallPetShop
