Lesson 6 part 4 Estimate the activities duration in Primavera

Lesson 6 part 4 Estimate the activities duration in Primavera files link: https://planningengineer.net/courses/online-primavera-course-for-engineers-construction-managers/ A- Completion date is driving the activity duration: Usually in the construction project, The client or whoever responsible will put a deadline date to complete the project and you should balance the activity duration to match the deadline dates. B- Resources is driving the activity duration: In some cased the resources could drive the activity duration based on the resources availability and site conditions. I faced this case in one of the projects i worked in, where there was only 3 tower crane available to install roof facade and the roof is only accessible by tower crane, we had to estimate the duration required to install the roof facade based on the tower crane productivity rates. i.e. (how many roof panels can be installed using 1 tower crane multiplied by 3 tower cranes divided on the total number of roof panel). CLIMBING DOWN DUBAI'S TALLEST TOWER CRANE

07:47
Here's the descent of the Marina 101 building climb. In this case, climbing down was actually more difficult than climbing up because of how slippery the crane was. I had to take it super slow and steady to be sure I didn't lose grip. Sliding down on my bum seemed to be the best way. I had a nice conversation with the crane driver when I had reached the bottom of the arm. He was such a nice guy! I then had a nice little explore around the rooftop of the building before I was kindly asked to leave the site. CRANE | Construction videos especially made for children. Made in the UK. Quality & educational videos. Subscribe to Things That Go TV! here: http://bit.ly/ThingsThatGoTV ____________________________________________________ What has stands high above a building site? Has a long boom. A hoist. And a metal wire for lifting and moving things around... It's a Crane. The tall crane works like a big arm and hand. It picks things up. And puts them down, at another part of the site. Like these heavy metals poles. They would be too heavy to move without the crane. Down on the ground. Here is Andrei, in his orange jacket and helmet. He is the SLINGER SIGNALER. Andrei works with the Crane operator. He attaches or detaches anything that the crane picks up. This time he has clipped on a large bin. Watch as the bin goes high in the air. Wow! Up on the top, the builders will load the bin with lots of rubbish. The crane towers high above the building. Can you see the cabin? This is where the Crane Operator sits. Now. Here comes the bin. It's been filled with rubbish. Andrei directs it in. He clips it up so the rubbish unloads. The bin swings back across and Andrei helps place it on the ground. He unclips the wire. And crane hoists the wire back up. Ready for the next job. Do you think a crane would be helpful to clean up your room? Yes me too! How to Demonstrate Engineering Principles | Science Projects

Check out the official app http://apple.co/1ThDIrx Watch more How to Do Small Science Projects for Children videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/510859-How-to-Demonstrate-Engineering-Principles-Science-Projects Hey, guys. Thinking natural disasters. When you think of natural disasters, there are several that come to mind. You have earthquakes, volcanoes, tornadoes, hurricanes. But, if I show you marshmallows, and I show you toothpicks, and tell you that we’re about to do an experiment that has to do with natural disasters, you’re gonna be, like, “Wait, what? Marshmallows and toothpicks, and natural disasters? But you.” Yeah, we’re going to do that, and I have a challenge for you. This is your challenge: I need you to get a bag of marshmallows, and you know what I love about this, is if your marshmallows ever get stale, the worst thing to do as a scientist is to throw them out. You can reuse anything, rather than making it into garbage. Now, you have a challenge, and your challenge is this, can you create a multi-story structure, a structure, I think, that people can build? So, you have to make it multi-floored, which means more than one or two, I would say. And, here’s the kick, after you build it, it has to be standing. You’re not allowed to hold it up. It has to be free-standing and stable. Stable on the table. Gravity should not be knocking it down. Then, we’re going to simulate an earthquake. So, after you’re done, and you've made this really awesome structure, made out of only marshmallows and toothpicks, we’re going to shake the table, and we’re going to make an earthquake. And you can be, like, “Earthquake.” Just tremble and vibrate. And if your structure is still standing after 30 seconds of your simulated earthquake, you, my dear, are an engineer. And check this out. Your structure’s actually gonna be three-dimensional, and all you need are marshmallows, and all we need are toothpicks. It doesn't matter if they’re the pointy type or the flat type, but, marshmallows are actually cylinder shapes. So, take a marshmallow, take a toothpick, put it through. You kinda have, it looks like you’re going to be working out with it, but you’re not. Now, think about how we can take this, and turn it into a really awesome three-dimensional shape. I’m going to start with this square, and then I’m going to build it up, and turn this square into a cube. Now I’m going to start going higher, just like this. And the beauty about this experiment is, a bag of marshmallows is so inexpensive. Toothpicks, pretty much anybody has toothpicks at home. And, I can learn so many amazing concepts of engineering, building, gravity, center of gravity. You see, you really want this structure to have this amazing centered gravity, so that, If you really think about it, gravity’s always trying to knock you down. In fact, unfortunately, when we get a little older, you start to lean forward, because in your lifetime, your body has done nothing but battle gravity. Which is why our backs arch as we get older. But, now look. I just made a three-dimensional cube. This is exactly one floor high. But the challenge is, could you create multi floors. And, as you get it to go higher and higher, it has to be stable. Stable on the table. You do not want it to be not balanced. The rules are you’re not allowed to hold it up. This is a challenge. And you’re only allowed to use toothpicks; you’re not allowed to get Scotch tape. Okay? That’s the challenge. And, as you can see already, mine is starting to lean. Gravity’s always pulling on it. I’m only gonna make mine three toothpicks high, just because I don’t need to make it bigger. That’s gonna be your challenge. Then, I’m gonna simulate an earthquake, and then, I’m gonna see if my structure is still standing. And, there are other things that you can do, actually, to try to make your structure more stable. Questions like, ‛What happens if you added toothpicks across the squares?’ Something like this. Would this help? Would this help? Science is all about asking questions. Test them, and see what happens. That’s two toothpicks high, and now I’m gonna go three toothpicks high. And by the way, if you don’t have marshmallows, you can actually use gumdrops. My whole point of this is, you can build and learn about structure and engineering and earthquakes, using any materials that you have at home. Uh-oh, gravity. Stop. There we go, it does get a little harder as you get higher. You gotta realize that, and you guys are gonna get frustrated. Starts to look like the leaning Tower of Marshmallows. And, I’m just going to put my toothpicks across the top, and then I’m gonna shake the table, and it’s earthquake time. Will my structure still be standing? Will it fall? I

The Claw: Gear Ratios & Power Using LEGO Cranes

02:03
Students learn about gear ratios and power by operating toy mechanical cranes of differing gear ratios. They attempt to pick up objects with various masses to witness how much power must be applied to the system to oppose the force of gravity. They learn about the concept of gear ratio and practice calculating gear ratios on worksheets, discovering that smaller gear ratios are best for picking objects up quickly, and larger gear ratios make it easier to lift heavy objects. WE ELOPED + The Filmmaking Lesson I Learned

11:26
Filmmaking lessons and ideas are hidden inside of life lessons. My wife and I Eloped at Mount Rainier National Park this summer. LGB Garden Railway CCVII....Freight

16:05
Operations on the Wicked Short Line July 17, 2015. I shot this with an iPhone. I need a bit more practice and some sort of tripod for the phone. LGB 2096 diesel locomotive outfitted with remotely controlled USA Trains fan driven smoke unit. Plymobil motorized tower crane. Electro magnet added to hook. Picks up steel ball bearings and loads them into an LGB hot metal car. I am looking into replacing the Infra-Red control of the crane with something hard wired. More to come on that subject in the coming months. Note at 8:36 the brakeman opens the door of his caboose. At 9:16 the work crew calls in the Matra remotely controlled crane. But they are on the wrong side of the track. Or is it the crane operator who has his right and left confused. Finally, a freight gets broken down by a Bachmann Davenport.

Aero-TV: Erickson Air-Crane -- The Future Of Heavy-Lifting

09:28
This Is How You Move HEAVY Loads! Talk about a purpose-built aircraft. The Erickson Aircrane is the epitome of a machine built for one thing, and one thing only -- to HAUL nearly anything that can fit under its massive frame. Yet for a helicopter with such a singular purpose, the Aircrane is an incredibly versatile vehicle... performing fire suppression, civil protection, construction, and timber harvesting missions, among other tasks no other aircraft could perform in quite the same way. Originally conceived as a civilian version of the Sikorsky CH-54A "Tarhe," the S-64A Skycrane was the first helicopter built as a flying crane with an aft-facing pilot station, that gives the pilot an unobstructed view of the load being carried. Perhaps most impressively, that station also has full positive control of the aircraft during precision operations -- meaning the pilot can manipulate the aerial platform as needed, much as a ground crane operator controls the boom. In military service, the twin-engined CH-54 "Tarhe" performed with an outstanding service -- supporting the Army's First Cavalry Division, Airmobile in Vietnam by retrieving over 380 damaged aircraft, saving an estimated $210 million. In 1971, Erickson Lumber Company leased an S-64E Skycrane helicopter from Sikorsky Aircraft and renamed the company Erickson Air-Crane. This occurred two years after the FAA announced a Standard Transport Category certification of the aircraft for loads up to 20,000 pounds -- an STC Erickson later purchased outright, along with tooling and the aircraft's type certificate. By 1993, Erickson Air-Crane became the manufacturer and support facility for all S-64 parts and components... and produced the first FAA certified S-64F mode on January 12 of that year. In 2007, the FAA presented Erickson Air-Crane with the Full Production Certificate, which allows the company to manufacture newly built Erickson S-64s under the Erickson-owned H6EA TC. Today, Erickson Air-Crane owns and operates a fleet of 18 Aircranes throughout the world... and has plans to ramp up operations even more.
