What To Expect After Gallbladder Surgery

Related: Types Of Gallbladder Surgery https://youtu.be/h7vdqaOg31c What Is Gallbladder Sludge? https://youtu.be/tcW_uZ5ohLE Gallbladder Removal Surgery Basic Information https://youtu.be/42VIT3Z3Dqk Gallbladder Problems, Diseases and Disorders https://youtu.be/If5fdefpAR0 Transcript: What To Expect After Gallbladder Surgery I'm doing this video because my wife recently had her gallbladder removed, so I've learned a lot about gallbladder surgery in the last few months, mostly on reliable medical websites like these. I'll share some basics in the next few minutes. Different people respond in different ways after gallbladder surgery. But generally speaking, individuals who expect a dramatic change in how they feel often get a surprise. For a while at least, they don't feel better. In fact, they tend to experience the same symptoms they felt before the surgery took place. There's a name for this phenomenon: postcholecystectomy syndrome, or "after gallbladder surgery syndrome." There has been some research done that indicates as many of 4 out of 10 people suffer discomfort after gallbladder surgery for months or even years. This happens due to the fact that the bile duct, which has not been removed, still accumulates bile. In the days after surgery: As for the first few days after gallbladder surgery, here's what to expect. You're going to feel some bruising and swelling. This is not surprising when you think about it. Even if you had laparoscopic surgery, which is much less invasive than a large open incision, your body is still feeling traumatized. Also, you may feel some pain caused by the air that was puffed into your abdomen during surgery. This is done to give the surgeon more room to work under your skin. Don't be concerned. Your doctor will probably prescribe some pain medication to help you get through any discomfort you're experiencing. Keep in mind that it's probably going to be uncomfortable moving around, especially sitting down or getting up from a sitting position. This may be particularly true when it comes to "bathroom time." If there's someone you can call on to help, you'll save yourself some pain until the muscles in your abdomen recover. Those muscles might be pretty sore for a few days. Speaking of bathrooms, there's a possibility you're going to have to deal with some diarrhea, gas and bloating for a while. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it happens to enough people after gallbladder surgery that you should be aware of it. Talk to your doctor. He or she may be able to prescribe something. Your digestive system may be unpredictable for a while. This is normal. You'll probably do well eating low fat or fat-free, light foods only. It's also a good idea to eat smaller meals rather than larger ones. This will keep the pressure off your internal organs, lessening the risk of pain or discomfort. But definitely make sure you eat, because again, your body is recovering from a trauma. It needs fuel to regain its strength. As the weeks go by, you can start testing your digestive system with heavier foods. It's probably best to use a trial-and-error approach. . Exercise can be helpful, but be careful not to overdo it. If you were an enthusiastic exerciser before your surgery, you may be eager to get going again. Train yourself to be patient. Take short walks at first. This helps your circulation, which of course aids in the healing process. Be mindful of your stitches. Follow your doctor's recommendations closely on this. Ask your doctor about bathing because stitches need time to heal and washing them too soon can cause damage. Typically, you can expect a follow up appointment with your doctor about one week after gallbladder surgery. He or she will probably want to see you again 4-5 weeks later. Keep in mind, your doctor's recommendations may vary. Also keep in mind that when dealing with gallbladder problems, you should rely only on the advice of a medical professional. I have a number of other videos related to gallbladder health. The links are listed in the description section above.

The gallbladder serves to store and concentrate bile. Bile is a yellowish-green fluid secreted by the liver and contains bile acids which aid in fat digestion and absorption. Bile flows through the bile duct into the duodenum - the first part of the small intestine. After filling the bile duct, it overflows into the gallbladder where it is stored for later use. After a high-fat meal, the gallbladder contracts to pump bile into the duodenum. Gallstones are hard masses formed in the gallbladder. Gallstones may cause obstruction of the cystic duct and excruciating pain when the gallbladder contracts. This usually happens after a fatty meal and is commonly referred to as gallbladder attack. Blockage of the cystic duct is a common complication caused by gallstones. Other less common but more serious problems occur when gallstones become lodged down the path of the biliary tree. When gallstones block the common bile duct, they prevent bile from reaching the intestine. This causes jaundice, poor fat digestion and subsequently leads to infection of the bile duct or cholangitis. Gallstones may also obstruct the pancreatic duct, forcing pancreatic enzymes to back up in the pancreas. This damages the pancreatic tissue and triggers inflammatory response. This condition is known as acute pancreatitis or sudden inflammation of the pancreas. The most common treatment for gallstones is the surgical removal of the gallbladder or cholecystectomy. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is currently the standard procedure for gallbladder removal. This minimally invasive procedure requires only several small incisions in the abdomen and thus results in less pain and quicker recovery. The cystic duct and cystic artery are clipped with tiny titanium clips and cut. The gallbladder is then dissected and removed through one of the incision. After surgery, bile enters the intestine without being concentrated in the gallbladder and may not be sufficient after a high-fat meal. A low-fat diet is therefore recommended after removal of gallbladder.

http://homeremedies9.com/common-remedies/home-remedies-g/gall-bladder-disorders-home-remedies/ Gallstones are common. They cause no symptoms in two out of three people who have them. They sometimes cause problems such as pain, jaundice, pancreatitis, and gallbladder inflammation. Surgery is the usual treatment for gallstones that cause symptoms. Chest pain, heartburn, shaking with chills, jaundice, vomiting, fever, and nausea are some other problems experienced by the patients who have something wrong with there gall bladder A number of risk factors contribute to the formation of gallstones, including a family history of gallstones and gender. Women are twice as likely as men to develop them. Body weight is also a factor; the risk of gallstones is higher in people who are overweight and obese. Diets that are high in fat and cholesterol and low in fibre appear to play a role. If you're overweight, try to lose the extra weight; but do it gradually. There is a link between quick weight loss and gallstone formation. The Gallbladder & Right Shoulder Pain Connection Part 2

03:44
Dr. Berg's Gallbladder Formula: https://shop.drberg.com/gallbladder-formula-regular Dr. Berg talks about the gallbladder anatomy and gallbladder function. The function of gallbladder is to release bile which helps in breakdown of fat in the body. Bile helps extract nutrients from the food we eat. A lack of Bile or congestion of stomach (due to lack of bile) can cause referred pain (neck shoulder pain). This can lead to shoulder joint pain or pain in right shoulder. The best way to sleep if you have a pain in shoulder is to sleep on the right side to avoid putting pressure on the liver and heart. To avoid shoulder and neck pain, eat a healthy diet, with a lot of salads and vegetables. This will help you to get shoulder pain relief in some time. Dr. Berg shows you about referral pain and how this originates from the gallbladder. This occurs due to a lack of bile. The pain goes into the right shoulder pain. This is the second video which talks about the gallbladder and its relationship with neck and shoulder pain. To know more about the gallbladder, watch out the other videos in this series. Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy GallBladder Surgery pre and post op 25MAR11 scars

Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy GallBladder Surgery pre and post op 25MAR11 scars The bits of the puzzle... so 2.5 years ago after my run I was then consuming my protein shake and my fish oil, this was enough to start inflammation of my gall bladder but the docs just thought it was a hernia. So this persisted, I started cutting out more crap food to see if it would help. All good now from the surgery except I did have to go on strong antacid pills from the consultant for a month, the stomach acid pain was very bad. Settled after about 3 weeks on pills. Then... (june/july 2011 3 months post op) i now get diarrhoea when i do a long run more than 25k (i'm a marathon runner so that is every weekend so i'm seeing the consultant next week for checkup. The doc said it's bile salts irritating the gut. During the week i'm good as i only run up to 15k weekdays.
