Soy - Specifically Non-Organic According to the National Institutes of Health, we do not fully understand the health effects of pesticides, but their use is associated with cancer, neurological conditions, and diabetes. (9) Phytoestrogens are found in numerous plants, including legumes, broccoli, beans, and soy products. Studies have found both positive and negative effects of phytoestrogens, so these are not necessarily bad - have been found to inhibit certain types of cancer and improve metabolic parameters (1). That said, phytoestrogens have a very similar structure to the estrogen found in our bodies. These phytoestrogens both connect to and stimulate estrogen receptors. Case Study In the Avon Longitudinal Study of Pregnancy and Childhood, it was found that 51 of 7,928 boys born suffered from hypospadias, a conditions where the penis does not work and appears abnormal. It was found that boys born to vegetarian mothers who had higher phytoestrogen content in their diets were more likely to be born with hypospadias. Soy formulas are of particular concern as this intake can be as high as four to seven times that of the quantity of phytoestrogen per pound of body weight as that of a traditional soy-based Asian diet. (7) 2. High Omega 6 Fats It is important to have a healthy balance of omega-3 fatty acids and omega-6 fatty acids in our diets, however in the USA we tend to consume about 14 to 25 times more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids. Our bodies produce hormones from omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids. The hormones produced from omega-6 fatty acids promote inflammation while those produced from omega-3 fatty acids help to reduce inflammation. (6) This large consumption of proinflammatory foods is coinciding with an increase in chronic inflammatory diseases, including obesity, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, cardiovascular disease, and may others. 3. Flax Case Study - Rats Born to Mothers with 10% Flaxseed Diets Experienced Hormonal Effects and Birth Weight Differences In a 1998 study published in the Journal of Nutrition, rats were fed diets containing either 0%, 5% or 10% flaxseed while pregnant and during lactation. No difference was found between the 0% and 5% flaxseed diet, but there were weight and hormonal differences found between the 0% flaxseed and 10% flaxseed diet. 4. Dairy - Specifically Non-Organic In the US, the vast majority of our meat and dairy come from concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs). Animals raised in CAFOs are treated horribly, packed together, and fed unnatural diets. They are fed questionable chemicals to encourage faster growth and pumped with antibiotics to keep them alive. These antibiotics, hormones, and other chemicals may disrupt your endocrine system. Is Dairy Bad For You? This is an in-depth look at the history of the dairy industry, the changes in practices over the last 20 years, and how it may be affecting your digestion, protein absorption and overall tolerance for lactose. Find out how hormones, antibiotics and mass production on dairy farms may potentially be causing adverse health issues. Between 1991 and 2004, the number of U.S. dairies decreased by half, and those with an excess of 100 cows increased by 94 percent. Big business tends to do anything to increase profits, which was led to changes that impact both our health and our sense of what is morally acceptable. (2) 2. Between 1950 and 2000, the number of dairy cows decreased by half, however the average milk yield more than tripled. (2) What this means for dairy: 1. Antibiotics: a. dairy cows live in some tough conditions and consume a diet that is high in protein and low in fiber, opposite of their natural diet of grass, which is high in fiber and low in nutritional density. They are fed this way to increase production, however it makes cows sick. (2) b. To keep cows healthy enough to produce milk, they are fed antibiotics. These antibiotics are passed on to us when we consume dairy products. This could lead to antibiotic resistance, and it is not fully understood what health problems this could pose. (2) 2. Hormones: a. milk contains natural hormones and growth factors - think about it - milk is produced in mammals to create the nutrition and resources for a small mammal to grow to be large. These hormones are meant to bring an 85 lb calf to a full grown 1,500 lbs (4). In addition to these naturally occurring hormones, synthetic growth hormones are frequently used to increase the production of milk. These hormones are readily available in the dairy we drink and may affect our normal hormonal function. (3) i. One hormone added to cow’s milk, insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1), has been implicated in increased breast and prostate cancer risk. In a study of nearly 22,000 participants for 28 years published by the Journal of Nutrition in 2013, it was found that those who consumed greater than 2.5 servings of dairy products daily had an increased risk of prostate cancer compared to those who consumed less than one half of a serving per day. (7) Aren’t there other nutrients that you need from milk? Every nutrient that you can obtain from milk, such as calcium, potassium, protein and fats can all be obtained from whole plant foods, such as vegetables, legumes, nuts and fruits. It is important to reduce the causes of chronic inflammation in our diets, and the hormones in milk, whether organic, raw milk or regular milk with even more hormones added in, can lead to inflammation. Cut dairy out of your diet for 30 days and see how you feel. It you find better digestion, increased energy and improved health, you are likely one of the majority who have an inflammatory response to dairy. If you do decide to continue eating dairy, do so in small quantities and be sure to consume organic, raw dairy. Resources: 1. If you’re lactose intolerant, suffer with acne, or have any reason you think your body doesn’t process dairy perfectly - I would avoid it. However, it if you really enjoy it as a source of nutrition in your diet, and don’t suffer from the side effects. It’s ok to have. Which leads to the next question… Do you need dairy in your diet? Absolutely not. While diary does have lots of important nutrition like calcium, protein, and Vitamin B12, you can easily get those from other sources. Leafy greens, lean meats, and whole foods have all those nutrients WITHOUT all the sugar or hormone increases dairy. I personally don’t consume dairy for this reason. Does Dairy Help You Lose Weight? No. Weight loss is about having two things working correctly. Eating the Right Amount of Calories AND Having Properly Functioning Hormones. Dairy provides no advantage to losing weight and if you have an intolerance could impede some weight loss progress. What are the best kinds of dairy to consume? If you’re going to get your dairy on, Low-fat unflavored greek yogurt, keifer, and grass fed whey protein are the best. If you’re going to drink milk, make sure it’s organic. What kind of dairy should you never consume? Anything non-organic I’d avoid. Because dairy is already shown to raise IGF-1, avoiding any extra chemicals pumped into cows is a good idea.

Canned light tuna is better for you than canned white tuna when it comes to mercury, with about ⅓ the mercury content of canned white tuna. (3) Farmed Tilapia: Farmed tilapia in the US is often imported from China and Taiwan where the conditions and chemicals used are very troublesome. That’s bad news #2 So guys with gyno have More estrogen - more body fat, depression, etc. Less testosterone - smaller muscle, lower sex drive, etc. Higher DHT - balding, body hair, etc. But get this, the bad news continues… Because there’s another major hormonal imbalance typically seen with “man-boob” guys -- higher levels of the stress hormone, Cortisol … which further DECREASES testosterone levels even more, causing an even HIGHER ratio of estrogen, so on and so forth. That’s bad news #3 So the bad news keeps getting worse. The negative hormonal imbalances cause even bigger imbalances as you age and also as you get fatter,... which is further enhanced BY the hormonal imbalances. Simply stated, you’re kinda “screwed”. It’s mainly carbs (sugars) and fat. In fact, I’d say the most you’d ever really need is about 1 gram per pound of body weight. Sometimes I eat much less and as you can see in my pictures, I have NOT lost any muscle size or gotten fatter. And I still weigh around 200 lbs and I actually have MORE muscle now, than I did when I was eating more protein and I’ll tell you how and why in a minute. IF you’re working out really hard 2-3 hours daily, taking LOTS of steroids and are in your 20’s when you CAN absorb more protein correctly, then you can do about 1.5 grams at the MAXIMUM and thus, if 200 lbs, you can eat about 300 grams of protein. Why You Should Eat NO Protein! Now, there are lots of problems with eating so much protein, but the one main topic I want to discuss today is that the more protein you eat, the faster is also oxidizes and thus, BREAKS DOWN faster. So, the “experts” will say “more protein increases protein synthesis” and yes it does, but for about 48-72 hours, before your body ADAPTS and it increases protein oxidation, which means it BREAKS DOWN faster and thus, protein synthesis DECREASES!!! Hence, the OPPOSITE happens! You start to LOSE muscle. So what’s the solution? “Protein Cycling/Fasting” You need to protein cycle by actually having one day a week with NO protein. You can call it “protein fasting” And trust me, you are NOT going to “lose” muscle. In fact, you’ll GAIN muscle… IF you do it correctly. So, how do you protein cycle, not eat any protein for 24 hours and actually INCREASE muscle and burn more fat and most importantly, improve your hormones? Here’s What You Should Do Sundays, I eat no protein. You can pick any ONE day out of the week, I just pick Sundays. Monday, my body is now super sensitive to protein since it’s gone without for 24 hours. So Monday and Tuesday, I have 150 grams of protein. Thus, your weight (200 lbs for me) x 0.75 = 150 grams. Then Wednesday and Thursday, I increase it by 25% to 200 grams. Finally, Friday and Saturday I again increase it by 25% since body has adapted again and this time I take in 250 grams. Every time my body adapted in about 48 hours, I again increased it to continue the additional protein synthesis. Then as my body adapts again, Sunday I trick it and do no protein…. A “protein fast” The Benefits Your body continually increases protein synthesis every 48 hours, which leads to more muscle. This prevents your body from adapting and increasing protein oxidation, which can lead to muscle loss. And MOST importantly, all of this works because it helps optimize your hormones by lowering cortisol and other stress hormones … and by increasing muscle building hormones such as testosterone, IGF, Gh, Insulin, thyroid and so forth. This, for example, is not caviar. To get the real thing, it has to be eggs from a sturgeon. There are 27 species around the world in North America, Europe, and Asia. But probably not for long. Arne Ludwig: In this case, sturgeon will die out because humans are over-harvesting their populations and destroying their habitats. In 2010, the International Union for Conservation of Nature placed 18 species on its Red List of Threatened Species, making the sturgeon the most endangered group of species on Earth. But lists like these are bittersweet. On the one hand, they can help protect the sturgeon from further population decline. On the other hand, the rarer that caviar becomes, the more we can't get enough of it. There's actually an economic idea that explains this. It's called the rarity value thesis and it describes how "rarity increases the value of the item." Sturgeon can weigh up to several thousand pounds, and produce hundreds of pounds of roe at a time. The world record belongs to a beluga sturgeon that weighed 2,520 pounds and yielded 900 pounds of roe. Today, she'd be worth about half a million dollars. It wasn't until around the 20th century when these freshwater fish and their eggs became a rare commodity. Pollution poisoned their waters and dams blocked their spawning grounds upstream. They had nowhere to reproduce and continued to be overfished for their meat and roe. On top of that, it takes 8-20 years for a female to sexually mature, depending on the species. She can produce millions of eggs at a time, but odds are that only one will survive to adulthood. In the end, the sturgeon population couldn't keep up with demand and their coveted eggs became the jewels of the luxury food scene. Today, caviar imports and exports are closely regulated in the US., which is partly why it's so expensive. Deborah Keane: People forget that every single egg, every one of these eggs is taken off by hand. Now, remember that we're dealing with a raw seafood endangered species. So it is basically like eating and dealing with edible elephant tusks. It is that heavily regulated. That's why today, the majority of caviar comes from sturgeon farms. Deborah Keane: Little did I know that by 2011, all wild caviar would become illegal on the planet. When I started there were six farms in the world and only two producing caviar in the world and that was in 2004. Now, there are 2,000 farms. One farm, in particular, in China called Kaluga Queen produces 35% of the world's caviar. Caviar there is harvested with the classic Russian and Iranian technique, which involves killing the fish and then extracting the eggs. Other farms are exploring a different technique, which doesn't involve killing the fish. It's called stripping. The fish are injected with a hormone that triggers their urge to release eggs. Farmers have been doing this for many years, but not to get caviar — just to produce more fish. It wasn't until recently that people started canning this stuff and selling it as caviar. Dmitrijs Tracuks: The biggest thing is that yes, fish stays alive. You have really small impact on the fish because you do it really fast. You take the fish out of the water, you put it on the special holding facility. The fish has already started to spawn and so all that requires is to press on the belly, massage the belly and the caviar will just flow out of the fish. The idea behind no-kill caviar is a commendable one, but it has yet to catch on. Either way, with caviar farms in place, this gives the wild sturgeon population a chance to recover. The Herald Sun wrote on June 24th 2011, The New England Journal of Medicine published research that advised weight-watchers to cut out sugar-sweetened drinks, potatoes and refined grain foods such as white bread, white rice and low-fibre cereals. They urged people to eat more "natural" foods, such as On June 19, 1999 The Center for Science in the Public Interest petitioned the Food and Drug Administration (the FDA) to prohibit the use of potassium bromate, which is used to strengthen bread dough. They charged that the FDA has known for years that bromate causes cancers in laboratory animals, but has failed to ban it. The most common pesticide found in flour, 49% of all flour tested, is Malathion, believed to be a possible carcinogen, Neurotoxin and Hormone disruptor. On January 28th, 2009 the Washington Post reported, "Study Finds High-Fructose Corn Syrup Contains Mercury." The article states, "The milk we drink today is quite unlike the milk our ancestors were drinking" without apparent harm for 2,000 years, she said. "The milk we drink today may not be nature's perfect food. Butter, meat, eggs, milk, and cheese are implicated in higher rates of hormone-dependent cancers in general, she said. Breast cancer has been linked particularly to consumption of milk and cheese." On Feb 11th, 2009, CBS News reported, "Link Eyed Between Beef And Cancer." In feed lots across the country, beef cattle are given growth hormones to make them fatter faster, to save money. Now questions are being raised about one of the most widely-used hormones, Zeranol, a synthetic estrogen implanted in cattle. A series of tests done for the Pentagon show a possible link between breast cancer and Zeranol. On March 30th, 2011 Discovery News reported, "Food Packaging Harbors Harmful Chemicals" Plastic wrappers, food cans and storage tubs deposit at least two potentially harmful chemicals into our food, confirmed a new study. By cutting out containers, people can dramatically reduce their exposures to these toxins. The chemicals -- bisphenol A, or BPA, and a phthalate called DEHP -- are known to disrupt hormonal systems in the bodies of both animals and people, leading to developmental and reproductive problems, as well as cancers, heart disease and brain disorders. And both appear in a wide variety of food packaging materials. Because the manufacturers and the government ignore our concerns, it is going to be up to us to take charge of our nutrition and well-being.There are a few alternatives to the chemically laden foods available at your local supermarket. And insulin inhibits, it blocks the action of this enzyme. So basically it prevents you from losing fat. So what is all this means? It means that all you have to focus on as your primary goal if you want to lose weight is to lower insulin. Not counting calories or drinking more water, or exercising harder thinking that it is going to lower insulin or lowering the fat calories in your diet. No, you need to focus on lowering insulin into a normal level. And nearly every single overweight person has high levels of insulin but they are never tested. Their doctor will actually test the blood sugars but they don't check the fasting insulin cause if they did, they'd probably find out that it is too high. Overweight people have higher amounts of insulin and that is the most important thing to focus on is to normalize that. Aspiring Improves Seed Germination: A low dose of aspirin water significantly improves seed germination and in one study the plants treated with the aspirin water had a 100 percent germination rate, while the plants that weren't treated had more inconsistent results. For this drop half a tablet of a 350 mg Aspirin into 1 liter of water and stir well and spray on the sown seeds or soak the seeds in it for few hours before planting them. 3. Most cow's milk herbicides, pesticides, and up to 52 powerful antibiotics, blood, pus, feces, bacteria and viruses. Wait! Did I say PUS? Yep, pus. According to research by the USDA, the average content of pus in milk is 316 million pus cells! Yes... milk is Mother Nature's "perfect food" ...for a calf... until it is weaned. Then, there’s the fact that pasteurization destroys nutrients. It kills potentially dangerous pathogens but also any of milk's healthy enzymes. Then there is the cancer-promoting protein in milk: Casein. In the China Study, Dr. T Colin Campbell discusses the results of years of studies that shows who the main animal protein in milk, casein can promote cancerous cell growth when exposed to toxicity.
