Hi beautiful souls, During the months of february through april I have been feeling extra tired. It was the same kind of tiredness I felt right before I went vegan. I was constantly tired, I woke up tired, had to take a nap EVERY single day and then went to bed tired. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong, so I went to the doctor. She took some blood samples but also told me it was common, 'a lot of people feel extra tired during spring'. However I don't believe common equals normal. J Clin Diagn Res. 2014 Jul;8(7):HC05-8. ======================================= 💪 The Vitamin That’s Clinically Proven To Increase Your Testosterone After Exercise ======================================= Today I’ll reveal a very common vitamin, that when used at a specific dosage, is clinically proven to increase your testosterone and libido, after you exercise. Most people don’t know, but exercise actually DECREASES your testosterone levels. This is especially true for “endurance” exercises such as running, jogging, biking, etc. Even though lifting weights can actually INCREASE your testosterone levels, for many people this is temporary. Afterwards, there is a big drop in testosterone. So, why does this happen? Well, there are lots of reasons. Lower blood sugar due to glucose depletion in your muscles, increases your cortisol levels and can cause a decrease in testosterone. Stress on your nervous system (CNS) due to an exhaustive or overly strenuous workout, increases your cortisol and will cause a decrease in your testosterone. Not eating well, being depleted of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, causes stress on your body and again, raises your cortisol and decreases your testosterone. As you see - the common problem is STRESS and the increase in your cortisol hormone. There are 3 ways to fix this problem and reduce this from happening: Make sure you have enough food in your body, before AND after exercise. This means have a good, light meal about an hour or two before exercise. And make sure to eat carbs and protein soon after your workout, to replenish your empty glucose and protein levels. Keep your workouts short. No more than 30-45 minutes. No more than 3-4x weekly. Don’t kill yourself. You should leave the gym feeling GOOD and refreshed. Not as if you just got done wrestling Kingkong and you’re dead tired. Take vitamins and herbs after your workout, that are clinically proven to reduce cortisol and increase your testosterone. And one of the simplest ways to do this is to take Vitamin C. Recent research shows that taking about 500 mgs of Vitamin C, before AND after your workout,1 can Decrease your stress hormone, cortisol. Dramatically reduce the drop in testosterone levels. Improve sperm count and the desire to have sex. There have been many other clinical studies showing how powerful Vitamin C is at reducing stress. Combined with other ingredients that boost your testosterone, and you have a winning formula. Personally, here’s what I’ve been doing for years. An hour before exercise: I have a light meal, maybe a protein shake. I take 1000 mgs of Buffered Vitamin C 2 pills of AlphaViril to boost my testosterone. 30-60 minutes after my workout: I have another meal, carbs + protein. More calories. I take more Vitamin C, this time 2000 mgs And I take another 2-3 pills of AlphaViril to decrease my negative hormones and boost my testosterone even further. You might think drinking coffee in the morning is a great idea. You may even think it’s a great way to get yourself going in the morning. But you’d be surprised to learn that drinking coffee first thing in the morning- especially on an empty stomach- is a terrible idea. Why? Let’s take a look at a few reasons. 1. Stomach Acid Your stomach has hydrochloric acid, which, at the right level, helps your body digest food properly. When your stomach is empty, this acid doesn’t have much to work with, so it can slosh around and hurt your stomach. Drinking a cup of coffee on that empty stomach adds to the problem by putting more acid in your body. Always having too much stomach acid will harm your stomach and digestive tract, leading to problems like heartburn, irritable bowel syndrome, and stomach ulcers. 2. Bad Digestion Having caffeine on an empty stomach ruins digestion, leading to a bloated feeling and other signs of irritable bowel syndrome, like pain and irregularity. How? Caffeine acts like your adrenal glands, which create stress hormones called cortisol and adrenaline. When these hormones flood your body, they raise your heart rate and blood pressure, and your liver starts letting out blood sugar to give energy to muscles so that you can run away. Your digestive system also shuts down to send energy to where it is needed most. 3. Anxiety When you go through your morning on an empty stomach, you lower your brain’s power to properly break down serotonin. Serotonin is the “happy, calm hormone”. When your brain is unable to break down this hormone properly, it causes anxiety and depression. Throwing a cup of coffee on top of that empty stomach causes anxiety by boosting your body’s cortisol and adrenaline levels. That will leave you feeling shaky, nervous, and weak. 4. Dehydration Drinking coffee on empty stomach raises the amount of fluid that your body passes, and can cause dehydration. If you’re like most people, you’ll likely answer to that dehydration by reaching for yet another cup of coffee, making things even worse for yourself. 5. Low Levels of Serotonin Very few people know about this, but coffee will make you feel less hungry. People who drink coffee right away in the morning sometimes end up skipping breakfast. Skipping your first meal of the day can ruin your body’s power to make serotonin, a neurotransmitter in charge of making you feel happy and calm. Also, serotonin is very important for a good night’s sleep. Your body changes serotonin into melatonin at night. Low levels of melatonin usually lead to insomnia problems. If you like drinking coffee, make sure to always have it after breakfast. How to Get the Most out of Vitamin Supplements- Thomas DeLauer: When should you take your vitamins? To learn more about how I can help you, head to http://www.ThomasDeLauer.com Many factors play a role on how available vitamins and supplements are when you take them. Fat-Soluble Vitamins: Vitamins A, D, E and K- These are stored in the liver and fat stores in your body, so you do not need to consume these every day. They are easy to get from food as they are not easily broken down by heat when cooking. These are the most important vitamins to eat with food, as the name implies, they are only absorbed and used by the body in the presence of fat. These vitamins dissolve in fat and are then delivered to the bloodstream for use in the body. Not much fat is needed, but if taking a supplement, or even eating fruits and veggies, but sure to have some fat added. If you make a healthy smoothie, add some almond butter or you favorite oil, such as macadamia nut oil. When eating salads, do not use fat-free salad dressings! Olive oil and lemon juice are great options. Be careful if you supplement these vitamins and be sure to check with your doctor if you feel you may need to do so. These vitamins are only needed in small quantities and can build up to a dangerous level if too many are taken. Vitamin D is the main fat-soluble vitamin in the US where deficiencies are common. This is due to inadequate exposure to sunlight. Fortified foods and supplements can help. Try to obtain 5-15 minutes of direct sunlight twice per week to avoid a deficiency, and if this is not possible then talk to your doctor about supplementation. Water-Soluble Vitamins: Vitamin C and B-complex vitamins are water soluble vitamins that you need to be sure to include in your diet daily. Unlike fat-soluble vitamins, these vitamins are not stored in your adipose tissue or liver and are in essence washed from your body daily. Food storage and preparation are important when making sure to get sufficient quantities of these vitamins. Deficiencies are uncommon, however vegans do not have a natural source of vitamin B12 and usually need to supplement. While deficiencies are not common, it is still important to consume daily for bodily functioning. As these vitamins dissolve in water, you do not need to take these with foods, although you can if you want to. Minerals: Calcium and Magnesium (2,4) - These are best taken with food and good to take at night. Calcium is linked to improved sleep due to its muscle relaxing abilities and magnesium has calming effects on the nervous and musculoskeletal systems. Zinc (2,4) - Take with or after meals to avoid stomach upset. Do not take with dairy as calcium hampers absorption. Also avoid taking with iron as large quantities of iron can also hurt your body’s ability to absorb zinc. Avoid taking excess zinc, which can lead to anemia through suppression of copper absorption. Iron (4) - Best to take on an empty stomach. Avoid taking with zinc, calcium and vitamin E as these can decrease absorption. If you have a sensitive stomach you may not do well when taking iron on an empty stomach. If so, take with a light meal. Probiotics (4) - Best to take 30 minutes before a meal as this is when digestive enzymes, bile salts and stomach acid are at low levels. These levels peak after a meal, so this is the worst time to take a probiotic. Fiber (2) - Be sure to separate taking fiber from other nutritional supplements as fiber can hamper mineral absorption. Fish Oil (4) – Fish Oil is best to take with food and with your multivitamin, or other fat-soluble vitamins, if you take them. The fat in the food that you eat can help to aid in digestion and absorption. As fats take a long time for your body to digest, it is best not to take fish oil pills or eat a fatty meal pre-workout. This can cause digestive upset. Multivitamins: As these contain both water- and fat-soluble vitamins, take with plenty of water and some food with fat in it, but try not to take with dairy as this can reduce your absorption of zinc. In certain studies, Americans has been found to be the #1 population in vitamin D deficiency. Some of the main symptoms of vitamin D deficiency are a weakened immune system, candida or bacterial overgrowth, emotional ups and downs, hormone imbalance, trouble putting on muscle or losing weight, weakened bones or teeth, cancer, heart disease, or diabetes. Vitamin D supports having a healthy immune response, digestive health, hormone balance, and more. The biggest causes of vitamin D deficiency are not getting enough sunlight, certain chemicals from plastic bottles (bpa), and toxicity. Try to get outside everyday for about 20-30 minutes of natural sunlight. Certain foods that are sources of vitamin D are wild caught fish, raw fermented milk, mushrooms, and eggs. However, there are small amounts in the food you eat. For a good supplement, I would recommend a high quality vitamin D supplement. The caffeine in coffee can overstimulate the body, burn out your adrenal glands, and overtax your body. About 80% of people in the world will struggle with thyroid problems or fatigue issues. For this group, I wouldn’t recommend coffee because it will burn out your adrenal glands. However, if you’re generally healthy, then drinking coffee in moderate amounts can be fine, and even good for your health. I wouldn’t recommend drinking coffee past lunch time because it can affect your sleep cycle that night. Depending on the condition of your body, if you’re suffering from an autoimmune disease, coffee can make your disease worse. If you’re pretty healthy, looking for a pick-me-up, or looking for more antioxidants, then coffee can provide you these benefits. When picking out your coffee beans, I would recommend choosing all natural, organic coffee because it’s one of the most highly sprayed plants in the world. Let me explain what an electrolyte is, if you ever take salt and put it in the water and dissolve it, the sodium and chloride disconnect and they become two separate minerals and that fluid is very electrically conductive. Basically electrolytes have to do with minerals that help conduct electricity in the body. They help with a lot of different things. As far as the electrolytes, it will be like potassium, sodium, magnesium, calcium, chlorides, and all those minerals. Potassium out of all the electrolytes is the one that we need in a very large quantities. Why is that? Why do we need potassium in a large amount? I am talking 4,700 mg to 6,000 mg every single day and that is equivalent to 7 to 10+ cups of salad or vegetables every single day. Let’s go dig further into exactly to why we need potassium. There are something in the body called sodium-potassium pump. It is built in a little protein connected to an enzyme, it forms a whole enzyme in the surface of your cells and you will have between 8,000 to 30million of this little tiny pumps and they are little generators that generate electricity to allow things to go through the cell so it take a lot of energy, in fact the energy of 1/3 of your diet goes to running those pumps. You also have another pump in the stomach called the hydrogen potassium ATPas, it is basically another pump that is built with a potassium that allows you to create stomach acid to help you digest. This pumps are also in the muscles, nervous systems and the pumps in the nervous system used about 60% of your body’s chloric intake of energy. In other words, these pumps are really critically important in exchanging nutrition, glucose, amino acids and other minerals to allow them to transport in other cell. Potassium is essential for building the pumps to allow these functions right here, they charge the cell electrically, so your cells have a certain voltage to allow things to work and go in and out of the cell to create different energy. In fact your energy that you have that controls your metabolism is controlled partly by these little pump. So it charges the cell electrically, it gives you energy. It helps the muscle contracts and relax because it allows calcium to go into the cell as well. It controls the transport of calcium. Greetings my dear friend. How have you been? I am so tired right now, but a mocha is making me feel better. I can count all the number of coffees I’ve had on one hand (5 lol, including this one from pret at the airport). I’m thinking it’s a good idea to stick it through and stay awake until night time in the UK, I am usually very good about beating jet lag within a day’s time. For those who are with me on instagram, you might have seen the ‘slight hiccup’ in today’s travel details. It’s definitely partially my fault for not being more careful- but I basically asked an employee for directions, and was led to a complete wrong end of the airport. Had to take a couple buses to travel back and forth, go through multiple security checkpoints & borders… resulting in me missing my connecting flight. It’s no big deal, because I am very patient! Don’t mind waiting, as I have lots of editing to work through on my hands. What concerned me was inconveniencing those waiting for me on the other side! But what happened can’t be undone, and I am just very thankful to even have a flight out on the same day. I am safe, warm and healthy. So I’m sitting here in pret, with The Lumineers in my ears, shutting the rest of the world out. An exciting week lies ahead, I have no idea what is to come, but I will surely do my best and not let you down. I wouldn’t be sitting my butt in this chair in this airport if it weren’t for this platform, and our incredible community. I will never forget that, and I am so grateful. I hope you get to catch the incredibles 2 movie soon and let me know what you think. I watched it when I was 8, even though it came out 3 years earlier. I lived in china when it first came out, I actually even remember seeing their posters in our magazines. A boy in my class was going on about dash “running on water”, but I had 0 clue what he was talking about. I still remember very clearly first watching this movie.. It was in my mom’s 1 bedroom apartment in cupertino, I was sitting on the ground. The tv was those chunky square ones with the curved screen LOL. And I didn’t understand A WORD. But LOVED IT. Sometimes actions speak louder than words, right? I think all I understood was when Edna Mode said “Edna Mode...and Guest”. Watching this sequel- 11 years later brought tears to my eyes. It reminded me of the little girl I once was, and how far I’ve come since then.. Also, I love Brad Bird. Very much. Not only is he an amazing writer and director (of this movie), he created my favorite movie of all time… Ratatouille. I am so happy right now, and I have you to thank for a large part of that. Not doing it correctly – Some people are just trying it halfway and doing it partially. If you have slow metabolism, you probably have to bring your carbs down to 10g/day. We must counter that slow metabolism. Focus on other indicators like energy, tolerance for sleep, memory, focus and inflammation. 4. Fatty liver – The capacity to make ketone and growth hormones work is going to be less. Improve this fatty liver (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSmFYbsQRio&t=1s) – You need to get some choline, a type of B vitamins that strips off fatty liver. The body will have to get rid of the fat in the liver before the fat underneath your abdomen area. 5. Gaining Muscle Mass – If you are female and menopausal, chances are you are getting a lot of atrophy or loss of muscle. In the process, muscle by value weighs more than fat so you will find no loss of mid-section and yet you are getting stronger. 6. Not exercising correctly – Exercise is not the big tool to help you lose weight but it can really help increase growth hormone, toning and a little bit of weight loss. “High Intensity, Low Duration” – Short little burst of high intensity full body exercise is the best. 7. Bloating from food – If you bloat from the vegetables that you are not used to consuming, or too much fat, that can make your stomach stay big. Modify the type of vegetables that you consume and make sure that you have no bloating. 8.
