What Did I Learn? I learned that you can buy A LOT of things over the counter in Mexico. Xanax, Viagra, Valium, steroids, and much more. Now, some of those may be the generic brand of the drug, but the process to get them is still much easier than in the United States. Here are the prices that I was able to write down: Valium- 220 pesos, 12.54 USD Xanax- 540 pesos, 30.79 USD Cialus- 1500 pesos 85.53 USD Claritan D 10 pack- 163 pesos, 9.29 USD Sostenon- 420 pesos, 23.95 USD Deca (1 month supply) - 681 pesos, 38.83 USD So what can't you buy from the pharmacies? You can't buy any sleeping pills or more serious pain killers. It was indicated that those are regulated pretty heavily, but I believe the process to go to the doctor to get a prescription is pretty simple and straightforward. Also, you can't get any antibiotics over the counter. Those need a prescription as well. In tomorrow's vlog we are going to speak to a doctor and learn more about what the healthcare system is like in Mexico, how much it costs to see a doctor, and what wait times are like! Here are the addresses of the two locations that I visited in the video: Olas Altas 385, Emiliano Zapata, 48380 Puerto Vallarta, Jal. Basilio Badillo 216-2, Emiliano Zapata, 48380 Puerto Vallarta, Jal. The second address is to a store right next door. Where is that restaurant that you showed in the bonus footage? Cafe 412 Tacos Y Mas

What was the painkiller called for 20USD?! and How many?
REBEL (1 year ago)
Prices in Puerto Vallarta are higher than border towns. Shop before a cruise ship arrives. You can haggle the price on almost everything.

Can we bring a controlled substance into the US? like Xanax, Valium? Will the MX prescription work??
Mr Casper (10 months ago)
its that easy to get those? wonder if I can get Percocet.
Yes Rocha (1 year ago)
Yes. No rx needed. I was perscribed xanax but had no udea it was xanax and the rx is just a written note but customs didn't even bother asking. I also had tramadol no rx to buy or for customs.
Kinetic Kennons (1 year ago)
That's a great question! Let me check on that. I think as long as you have a prescription I would think it's fine. But don't quote me on that. don't want you getting thrown in jail over my thoughts lol. Let me ask around!
Scott Boje (1 year ago)
For things like Claritin, which seemed expensive to me, is Costco a better option? The USA Costco stores all sell OTC and prescription drugs.
Kinetic Kennons (1 year ago)
That's a good question! I have never looked at the drugs in Costco, but I bet they are cheaper there. I think some of the small farmacias have a high markup. I didn't get that info from anywhere, it just seems like they would have to to make any money.

Do you see any kind of business opportunities in PV?  Businesses that could be started?  I have one in mind that might work and would be fun to work and tourists would enjoy too!
Kinetic Kennons (1 year ago)
I think I have seen them before! Yeah, just keep us updated! We are always interested in new ideas and ventures!
Kinetic Kennons (1 year ago)
I think of random business ideas all of the time. It's easy to think of things here because they don't have a lot of the same biz here than in the states so it's easy to "predict the future". The problem is though that in some cases there is a reason it doesn't exist here. Take Uber for example. Something we have had for years, and even other cities in Mexico has, is having issues with just being here. What's your idea?? Might save that one for an email and not the comments section:)
NorthVan_Dan (1 year ago)
I got a bad sinus and infection and cough when we were in Yelapa over Christmas. The always helpful guys at the water taxi office directed me to the clinic at Guadalajara Farmacia. We got there a few minutes before opening at 11 am. I was seen by a very nice female doctor from CDMX who spoke English. She gave me a prescription which I filled in the pharmacy (antibiotic, eye drops and expectorant). If I recall correctly, the cost of seeing the doctor was 30 pesos. When I got home I followed up with my doctor. The medications she prescribed were all appropriate for my symptoms. Now that I know how easy it was to see a doctor, I wish I had done it earlier.
NorthVan_Dan (1 year ago)
Best wishes to Hillary for a speedy recovery (I hope it wasn't where you had dinner - I added Tony's Please to my list for our next visit. Please note - when you make your recommendations that you, as long term residents, will have more immunity to food bugs than us occasional visitors. I read that it takes about 6 months to develop the ability to fight local germs. So if you get "food sick" that is a major red flag for us vacationers who need to be careful about where and what we eat).
Kinetic Kennons (1 year ago)
That's a great point. I don't think it was from food. I ate about half her food and I felt great. Plus she never had the typical food poisoning symptoms. We will for sure let you all know if a particular place does make us sick though.
D Vá (1 year ago)
Hope Hillary feels better. That girl bombed the vid in the beginning with the peace sign haha. Also, my mom had to go to Mexico when she was sick because meds were cheaper and the doctor she went to see was exclusive mostly Mexican celebrities would go see them.
Kinetic Kennons (1 year ago)
I saw that girl eying my camera so I tried to turn my body to not get her in the shot. She won. Lol

I'm a mexican living for a short time here at USA, It was a shock to realize about how expensive medicines are here, I miss a lot the Mexican pharmacies.
Brisa Arenas-Gomez (1 year ago)
In Maryland, near Washington DC
Kinetic Kennons (1 year ago)
What part of the US do you live in?
Jcmarti845 (1 year ago)
How safe is to live in Mexico when we see the news that Mexico is equal to Syria and Iraq in violence
Kinetic Kennons (1 year ago)
I mean, I feel like it is VERY safe. Some of our other commenters that live in Mexico can correct me if I am wrong, but I don't feel like Mexico is a war zone. Are there dangerous parts? Sure. But I think those are few a far between. I'd be willing to bet money that PV is more safe than most cities with a similar size in the US. We traveled to Mexico City and loved it as well. We didn't venture way outside to any crazy neighborhoods, but we didn't do that in Dallas either lol

Hi. Something to keep in mind is that in Mexico, there is a difference between "drugs" and "medicine". Generally the medicine can be bought without prescription, (exept antibiotics) narcotic type drugs require prescription. Another very important thing is that you ask for the medicines by their generic name or generic brands, example: in calling from "advil" asks for "ibuprofen". Instead of "asipirine" calls for "acetylsalicylic acid( acido asetilsalicilico)". This way the drug will cost up to 5x less ...
Kinetic Kennons (1 year ago)
Gracias! I am all about saving some money! Some people ONLY take the brand medicine. I have never had any issues using the generic brand myself.
Ivan G (1 year ago)
medicines in mexico are cheaper, also remember that there are non american name brand drugs which you will find at insanely low prices compared, mostly what matters is the active ingredient , for example, eye drops (vysine for example) , the active ingredient is HCl ...meaning hydrochloric acid lol... yes that's literally what people are dropping on their eyeballs, so find similar drug and compare the active ingredient. for some pain killers it would be acetaminophenol if i remember correctly we made it in the laboratory a few times :b this active ingredient is essentially pain and fever reducer like tylenol. But forget medicines lol services like dental work (braces), glasses and contacts is wayyyy cheaper in mexico and they do an awesome job, i personally got my braces done in mexico long ago.
Teresa Shinkansen (4 months ago)
Those eye drops aren't HCl (hydrochloric acid) they are "tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride" a vasoconstrictor (makes the blood vessels become smaller, therefore reducing eye redness) the HCl stands for hydrochloride ion, which is needed to make the active ingredient (tetrahydrozoline) water soluble. Just because it has "HCl" doesn't means is acid or toxic, similar to table salt (NaCl) chlorine is very toxic and sodium is caustic and can explode/catch fire in contact with water, yet table salt its a relatively harmless ionic compound with sodium and chlorine. Don't try to look smart when you lack the knowledge and humbleness to do it right.

lol i've taken many chemistry courses chem 1, chem2, organic chem1, organic chem2, inorganic chem 1, bio chemistry and physical chemistry, Physical chemistry being the hardest one in my opinion, we done crazier things like extracting DNA and cloning it,but they never taught us the good stuff like using CRISPR-Cas9 to edit DNA ...(literately you can make glow in the dark humans if you wanted) lol i fore see a possible future, and this is no joke, where humans are not discriminated agaisnt their ethnicity, but rather genetic modifications maybe blue humans with horns lol idk
Kinetic Kennons (1 year ago)
Damn you know you're chemistry! I don't know if I should be worried or impressed!! haha

Similares are way cheaper, even cheaper than price as mark on case, and doctor consult are like $35 pesos
Kinetic Kennons (1 year ago)
That's crazy! the video we post today talks a little bit about that. I had no ideas the clinics were that affordable.

I like this comment. Time for Greg to put on his boogie shoes!
Kinetic Kennons (1 year ago)
HAHAHA. Very clever!
Betty A (1 year ago)
Ohhhh, so sorry. Hope Hillary gets to feeling much better muy pronto!!! ;-(( I haven't had any experience going to a doctor or needing medicine, thank God! In all the times I've been in Mexico I've never needed it. I have seen some other videos that say it's pretty easy and inexpensive though. I've got to get signed up on FB. I tried a few months ago when I started my eBay business, but FB wouldn't let me in. Somehow they have my "account" (you know, the account I don't have and never have had) blocked. It's the weirdest thing. It's a circular thing and I can't get around it. Someone suggested I use a different email account and that's been my hesitation. I don't want to use a different account, but it appears that I'll have to to sign up.
Kinetic Kennons (1 year ago)
If not, we will do some live stuff on Youtube too! I want to try it out on Facebook first and try and get some content on other platforms though. If you get on Facebook find us at, you guessed it, Kinetic Kennons:)

I hope Hillary feels better. I got really sick Tuesday morning and the pharmacy saved me. I was so worried about getting back on the plane to LA. I made it home. My sickness is completely gone. I lost a whole day in PV but the rest of the trip was worth it. Get well soon Hillary.
Ashlei Shyne (1 year ago)
My wife went for me and she said it was amazing! They answered all of her questions, and I felt 40% better within 2 hours.
Kinetic Kennons (1 year ago)
Thank you! Did you have a pretty easy time at the pharmacy? Glad you're home safe and feeling better:)
Luis Las Primadonnas (1 year ago)
Oh poor Hillary, Greg please tell her that we miss her. I hope she is better for this moment. Did she ever see a doctor there in Puerto Vallarta? Antibiotics also need a prescription, but sometimes pharmacies also have doctors and doctors' offices right there, they have very cheap prices and they can prescribe the medicine you need. These doctors charge something like 50 pesos a consult.
Kinetic Kennons (1 year ago)
The one I talked to today was 35 pesos! Talk about a bargain!
