Seems like it could be fun if the difficulty gets tuned.

So unfortunate to hear you only played a couple of hours, if you would have played till lvl 65 thats where all the cool hardcore stuff starts. It becomes very difficult especially lupa's labyrinth and the epic dungeons.
I really recommend once OBT starts to give it another shot, get through the grind part (which i admit is very linear and maybe not that challenging) and do some of the lvl 65+ content. Which isnt the real end game btw its the level cap but its all about your soul level which is endless like diablo for example.
Does it beat titles like Lost Ark? Probably not but it's definetly worth trying out especially if you played the old Mu game ^^
Ps. The social part also starts massively from lvl 65
You sound as someone who never played the original Mu Online. Plus if you are an "experienced arpg player" as you claim, you would know that lvling in an arpg is a chore, real game begins at lvl cap. And occidental "gamers" are the reason why all games are easier now.....
Western players like Hard games ? When ? Whut ? You mean players who ask to nerf enemies and bosses in BDO (that without any hardness reduction was Easy), BnS, AA, Tera, Aion, DN, Lineage 2... All Asian games that are introduced in West we have now in 2x reduces stats for enemies and even 10x like are BnS and Lineage 2 for EU/NA/RU... I don't mean that there are no players who enjoy Hardcore games (I also enjoyed old WoW endgame, Lineage 2 C1-Interlude, EVE online, Ultima Online), but mostly MMORPGs (and even many SP) games are nerfed over time or come with reduced enemy stats in the beginning cos the majority of Western players can't handle hardness in that games, you can also look at Steam reviews around typical Asian arcade and action games and you will see that most of that reviews cry about hardness and impossibleness of that games, but they also do relaxing and story focused games like for example Horizon Zero Dawn,Tomb Raider, Legend of Zelda, that are not oriented on extreme and hard or hardcore gameplay.
Also do you know that in Korea, Japan and Indonesia Dark Souls 2 and especially 3 gets mostly negative reviews due to its lightness and they especially made patch to increase hardness and decrease adaptive mode in SEA, so when you play western version you start form medium adaptation and game can become easier or harder (similar to L4D), but in Korean version you will start from Hard and game will not decrease hardness, just can increase adaptation. Also PC version is hard just because of bugs, optimization and idiotic controls (but I understand that it's just a port, emulation, to be honest).
And in logic of "every one can jump in" game is easy then what to say about Dark Souls 3, Witcher, Assasin Creed, BDO, WoW, Neverwinter, TESO, GW 2, Wildstar... but it shows just how lover is entry threshold and game can be easy to learn and can have low entry threshold like Blizzard games, WoW for example or GW2, BnS that are very easy to start, but still have hard and easy endgame content for different players and can reward for hard content gaming. Shortly Hardness is not about how easily you can jump in, game can be hard to start, but be easy to master like are BDO or TESO, that does not require good skill, knowledge or tactics to play or be rewarded, or games like PoE that does not reward you for doing hard content in game. How many times you see Rage Quits in WoW, BnS, Lineage 2, EVE and how many times you see it in TESO or BDO (Lineage 2 also was Open World Dungeon game, like is BDO, no instances, but lots of rage quits cos game was hard even in the beginning in West, how hard you are running from bosses in BDO in fear of death, same way in Lineage 2 C1/C4 you was running from level 1 regular enemies and there you was loosing your part of your equipment or inventory if you die (and armor there was not that easy to get like is in BDO), but after release they decrease hardness twice and now even more times, also they change death = lost part of equipment for Western players)... ? Also not many players understand that many Asian games for example BnS also cut loot chances, so when you get -10x stats on enemies you also get -10x loot chances, so that's how some games become grindy, in Korean version you will get everything you want from dungeon in one or two runs, in Western version in 20 runs if you were lucky (reminds me modern WoW).
I did not played MU Legend yet and really looks like casual grinding game, but hope on hard endgames content, Webzen have game named C9, that is also very easy to start, but people run from late game dungeons and still in overnerfed Western version C9 have topics about how hard are dungeons in endgame... So hope that MU will have something like WoW, when there is content for hard players and casual players, and hope that it will be rewarding, that there will be incentive aspects for doing hard content.
Played CBT1 and the late game stuff is hard, you get one shot, but the problem was game performance, which rammed way too much (even on great config's).
If they fix game performance it'll be an ok game, not to be compared to LE or LA, but it'll be fun while waiting for the 1st to come out first after Mu ^^
The biggest problem I had with the game, is the difficulty seems kinda scaled on your gear, and if you attempt something a bit too high, depending on your class you won't have the sustainability to finish it.
But yeah other than that, a fun time waster, and it's always fun to enchant gear, lvl up wings and get your character to look insane ! :)
Like you said, the game is a tutorial until the later levels and special dungeons.
Which is something I hate as well, I'd love to see difficulty right away, but that can't appeal to the wider audience which are casual gamers.
Great video as always ! ^^
Well when open beta hits in go into a rift, solo, take the 2nd or 3rd difficulty level and there you have your "challenge"! :D Took me about 15 minutes only for the boss and it was fckn amazing! However, good video and keep it up Skylent ;)
I feel like these games are "easy" for a lot of us because we just have played SO MANY games that are challenging and very mechanical and we have these mechanics very engraved in us, we kite really well, we combo abilities really well, but for someone that isn't in that situation I feel like this game can actually be overwhelming
