Ayurvedic medicine says that sleeping on your left side lets your body better filter lymph fluid and waste through the lymph nodes. This is because the left side of our body is the stronger lymphatic side. Western studies also found that sleeping on the left side can help the body break down waste materials from the brain. However, sleeping on the right side can lower the lymphatic system’s power.
2. It May Improve Digestion
When it comes to digestion, sleeping on the left side may be better than the right, because of gravity. Lying on the left side lets food waste easily move from the large intestine into the lower colon, meaning you’re more likely to have a bowel movement when you wake up.
Sleeping on the left side lets the stomach and pancreas hang naturally because our stomach lies on the left side of the body. This can make sure the body keeps creating pancreatic enzymes and will help other digestive processes.

Since you’re in a semi unconscious state,I can start on my back,wake up in a total different position,in between I have no idea or memory on how many times in have moved to the right or left or on my back again.
I started sleeping on my LEFT side in MAY 1967. VIETNAM — TWO TOURS. When it was necessary to “sleep” in situations not allowing for the Air Force’s custom made, down filled, bed, I would bunch up my field jacket — or in warmer climate (just about ALL the time) and sans a jacket, I would make a “comfortable” pillow out of my ass pack, and off to sleepy time, usually interrupted by ignorant local people making a lot of damn noise. By sleeping on my left side, and being right handed, I found that I could quickly retrieve my 45 pistol, which I placed under my pack, and quickly get into all the fun that the rest of the WORLD was having at that time! All the comforts of home in a nasty place where individuals I had never met nor was even remotely aware of their existence, were trying to kill me. Ah, yes. That ass pack was really an indispensable item and I NEVER left home without it!
This is something I actually have thought about. I've been a left side sleeper for years so I'm glad that I am on the right side (pun intended) of something healthful for a change. Instead of thinking that IF I continue to sleep that same way which seems natural to me there's going to be something wrong with me from that. Now that I've also raised the head of my bed up 6 inches (called "inclined bed therapy") I admit to sleeping better than ever.
Explains why i automatically sleep on my left. Apnea, and asthma and a car wreck. Even in a hospital bed, through cancer treatment i was on my left side. Also leaving my computer on behind me. Win, win ,win situation.

I sleep on my belly, but facing the right side... Would that be about the same as sleeping on my left side? I find it way more comfortable and it’s easier for me to fall asleep this way than any other position I’ve tried.
after reading other';s comments on whether its best sleeping on left or right side, i think i'll sleep on the side that seems to work best for me.. my backside-:) when i fall asleep on either side, i usually have a scream-dream nightmare within minutes of dozing off. On my back, my dreams are 'normal' and even funny as i wake up laughing. Sleeping on my stomach is not even an option. So has anyone with or without a medical background actual truthful facts about sleeping on your back?
I first saw a headline about this months ago and dismissed since I have always slept on my left side mostly. Evidently my body told me this many years ago all on it's own. Imagine that nature did it again.
I’m watching this cause I slept on my right today and I woke up with bubbling acid in my stomach and I’m not hungry and I can feel the bubbles and the sound is so weird it doesn’t sound like your hungry it sounds like someone pooping LMAO IK TMI but I’m lucky I’m not in public rn my stomach would be weird. 😂 I’ll sleep on my left From now. Thank you I started getting worried! I also keep my knees up evernight I turn into that cause my feet and legs get cold. So that probably isn’t the best either.

I feel much more comfortable on my left side, so no need to comment anymore. I don't feel any extra weight on the heart. You guys really need to tell the truth. If you are, which is unbelievable, I guess I'm different.

When I was young, I always had nightmare when I slept on left side. The heart was pressured. I slept mostly on right side. My right eye was uncomfortable due to whole night dropping on right side. My nose tip dropped on right side that caused inner dividing soft bone banded. I had operation to slice a little bit of dividing bone off in order to breath through left nostril Last year of college. I trained myself to sleep on my back. Health exercise teacher told me that I should sleep on right side. I did. My nose slightly tilt to right, my right line from right nostril down to mouth became deeper than left side. Worse yet. My right collarbone became bigger than the left. It might be caused by bone density worsen due to age. Also the spine became problem. I had to go to spine doctor to adjust my spine...all the bones along it. Now, I sleep on my back again without pillow to straighten up my neck bones align with my spine. The spine doctor told me to lay on floor half hour for my spine per day, no sitting on couch. or too soft chairs.
I sleep allways standing on my head, it really helps me get all the blood to my brain ans get the best and longest dreams ever, it even helps my hearths health by giving it more work to suck that blood out of my head! You should try it too! Really healthy and efficient 🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢
Totally opposite how can you aspect to have a correct blood circulation while you sleeping if you already blocking the pump (which is the hearth). I do tried the both side and I did notice that sleeping on left side that some of my right finger dry, tightness, hard... but on right in morning I realize that I had good sleep and even ready for workout. That is very logic if you really know how any pump works.
in islam sleeping on right is best with both hands on cheek and under chin like how a baby or toddler sleeps naturally there's healing in the hands to the face and chin when they touch to rest. when laying on the left side you lay on your organs right side is bright and nice 🌜now sometimes I lay on my left side too but I don't agree with it but we all can agree right side thee BEST WAY chow!
