With a game franchise this popular, that garnered as much attention as it did, and even spawned a sequel, why haven't we seen anything else from the franchise in over ten years? What the hell happened to Manhunt?

As long as rockstar keeps pumping out games i will buy them all! All hopes for Bully 2 Max payne 4! And ofcourse manhunt 3! ..Or hell they should bring back the warriors! Remaster to this era of graphics imagine the rumble battles!
So, basically, the ESRB had a stick up its ass about the first game being so graphic and garnering a "M" rating and felt that the sequel was going to be pornographically violent? Hence, the Adults only rating. What a gyp, bunch of butt hurt busy buddies and their "justifications for ratings" and crap like that. Well, good going ESRB you OKed a "M" rating for essentially all Mortal Kombat and GTA games yet they can be just as gruesome and unnerving. Way to give the middle finger to the Manhunt video game fans, bravo.
Even if Rockstar had the balls to do it and didnt care for an AO rating, thered still be outrage saying bullshit about how kids mjnds are getting fucked up over a fucked uo game. But theyll never acknowledge the fucking rating and it not being old in stores.
Sucks how a kid was murdered who just so happened to own Manhunt...BUT the media said it was the murderer who got inspired by the game to kill him. The game didnt have anything to to with the murderer's motives. God damnit, Just Fuck off, media...
once the horror genre picks up in the 2020s, I’m sure it will be a done deal. horror movies themselves are on a decline, quality wise, and if it continues i wouldn’t be surprised if horror games started gaining momentum and even replace movies themselves. but for now I feel bully is the right title to release, even though I’ve never played it, then a gta remaster and then a either new ip or then hopefully manhunt gets to be rockstars first next gen game.
Manhunt 3 should bring back James Earl Cash. The second game had a boring protagonist. James made it more intense and interesting considering he never spoke. Plus the enemies were scary and actually interesting. We had psychos, white supremacists, satanic Latino perverts, and military group. They made it very interesting and more scary. Plus you didn’t feel bad killing them considering they were terrible people
Manhunt 3 has potential to be a huge success now. With recent games breaking almost as far as possible with edginess, gore and shock value, Manhunt 3 could be that perfect deliverance as it was then. With no real timeline or connection needed from the first two.
Come on, Rockstar. Manhunt 3!!! Bring the elements from 2, and then some, and bring that nasty, gritty story telling of the first one to next gen console! Find a loop in the system and make the deaths almost cartoonish, and you'll... hash tag, get away with it! I Love horror games, and I love stealth games, AND I guarantee that there are at least a good million, that will say the same! This is meant to be, and there are far worse movies out there! But the bullshit conversation is always "well, they're controlling the character to do those things, where as a movie, they're not in control!" Wow! Just make it happen Rockstar!... Or I'll kill because the toaster told me to! 😂😂
Heres my ideals for games check me out.....
5. Manhunt 3.....
4. God Of War The Next Legacy.......Kratos Son is character.
3. Bully. The College Years....Jimmy in college.
2. Midnight Club Hawaii.....
1. New York Noir.....whole new location whole new Detective.
I think if Rock star does make a third manhunt game it should be a prequel , and have an online mode of hide and seek with majority of the players being a gang , against one . And that player is able to stealth kill , also have a gang fight mode like the brawl game bonus level from the first game.
I wonder why the recent Mortal Kombat games have managed to secure an M rating with little censorship despite being much gorier and gruesome compared to the Manhunt series? You could argue the violence in the Manhunt series is more realistic, but plenty of M-rated games nowadays use more realistic violence. The ESRB ruined what could have been a great game, and effectively screwed it over. Though, who knows? If RDR2 gets Rockstar interested in making new games again and straying away from GTA:Online, it could possibly make a comeback. Being the rebel of gaming companies, Rockstar isn't afraid to take risks.
I prefer to keep Manhunt where it is. Same goes for Max Payne too.
Max Payne in the 3rd game pretty much retired from his badass career of killing no-good criminals and he’s fine where he is.
Personally, I do wanna see Bully 2 if Rockstar would ever release it to their fans.
Never finished 2 only had PSP copy and got too difficult with the small analogue same as R.E Mercenaries on Nintendo DS Impossible. Anyhow B.I.B (bring it back) after Max Payne 4, its just a better series
"and that Rockstar polish that is to be expected from their games" Not quite at that time.
In fact, they really started to pick up steam with GTA IV and RDR (and maybe Table Tennis and MCLA) which were admitedly more polished and impressive visually, due to them moving on RAGE.
Rockstar's titles on the 7th gen were not regarded for how polish they were, rather how unapologically fun, mature and outgoing they were. On a technical standpoint some of their late games ran very poorly on those consoles.
Manhunt 3 would not be able to be made today. Since Rockstar is such a big company, Manhunt would only appeal to a minority, and it would be critically panned because the social attitude to gore games has become highly more sensitive. Heck, Manhunt 2 barely even managed to be released, it was even banned in many countries, and that was 2007.
No, a Max Payne 4 would not make sense. 3's ending cut the ties of the titular character for good.
Manhunt isn't strictly about it's main character, it's more of an atmosphere and experience in terms of being a game.
MANHUNT was fucking awesome. Excellent gameplay, stealth and shooting. Good story. Excellent music and solid visuals, environments and character animations. 9.0/10 for me. The idea of it being a "snuff film" was great because it's rarely if ever done in gaming. While extremely violent in 2003, 15 years later, if anything, it would probably be tame compared to a lot of games nowadays. Would love a MANHUNT 3. Hated Manhunt 2 though. Didn't like the story, character or final boss fight which you could see coming from the outset of the game. While the game was censored, I played the game with a hacked code using Action Replay at the time and honestly, while the violence was even more gruesome, it simply didn't help the other aspects of the game. Don't think we'll ever see a Manhunt 3 though as Rockstar seems to just be focused on GTA and Red Dead. Shame too because imagine with the visuals of today how great the game could look.
Don't also forget the crybabies which would whine all over the place. Man, America is really pussy nowadays. Back in the day you didn't care about it being violently you just wanted to immerse yourself into this perfect gruesome atmosphere (talking about Manhunt 1 btw). I hope to see a 3rd instalment though.
The 2nd Manhunt game didn't sell well for a simple and obvious reason, it was released in October 2007 on the PS2 and the Wii... People were playing the Xbox 360 and PS3. It released on everything but the Xbox 360 and PS3, and that's why it failed
It would be fun to have a sequel to manhunt but nowadays with all the mass shootings and people getting easily offended over the littlest things, it would be impossible for Rockstar games to revive this series back. However if they do, they might end up dealing with backlash and lawsuits if a bunch of angry parents find out their kid was playing this game :/
Video games do cause real world violence to mentally ill and abused people. Especially those under the age of 25.
It's very obvious, and anybody who doesn't realize that is lieing to themselves.
Of course there will be 99 percent of people who play a video game, and can be normal citizens.
But there are those 1 percent of weirdos that our nation breeds. And violent video games and there 12 hour binges, only reinforce their crazy ideas
People realized this was a sick and sadistic game. That had no reason or purpose in our society except to breed killers and murderers.
Everybody I know who has played this game and enjoyed it, is either a piece of shit or mentally ill.
A bunch of us supported it, because it pushed the envelope. And that's good and well, but this game had more detriment to society, than entertainment.
I mean the game had poor mechanics to begin with. If you played it, you just wanted a purge, or serial killer simulation
I really like the first game. Grimy and primal, and Brian Cox is great taunting you the entire time.
The second game is like a portable version of a main series of games. Just a bit generic with the whole secret government project storyline
someone else should just make a spiritual succesor to manhunt. war for the overworld did it for dungeon keeper and freeman guerilla warfare is essentially a carbon copy of mount and blade in a modern setting. as long as they dont call it manhunt nobody can do anything
Manhunt is fucking brilliant. It also has an adults only classification for a good reason. If a child were to get their hands onto the game, they aren’t to blame, their parents or adult guardians are to blame.
Manhunt 2 was based on MK-ULTRA & was banned in the UK because of that! They said it was due to the Violent content. But the Tavistock institute is in *"THE CITY OF LONDON"!*
Anyone else here have any idea what that means besides me?
