Dr. Berg talks about a simple fix or correction for oily skin. You have a situation of overactive sabaceous glands pumping out sebum. This is because of too much androgen hormone. You can take zinc to lower androgen. But whats really behind this problem is either too much stress or too much insulin. The adrenals and ovaries make androgens.
Fixing insulin resistance can really help your skin.
There is a natural concentrated pytonutrient called DIM which can also support healthy androgen and estrogen levels. It's great for PCOS and supporting healthy skin.

Finally a good video about shrinking pores. I just needee to cut out sugar and dairy products and eat a lot of veggies and fruits but fresh ones not the dried ones ;) I have nearly no visible pores after 7 weeks of cutting out sugar and animal dairy products and I am able to save a lot of money.

Hi Dr Berg, im a Male and i started doing One Meal a day 3weeks ago. I Eat very very healthy all the electrolytes etc every day. I switch To Keto Diet 2 weeks ago with my One Meal a day. And from Yesterday my Skin got very very Oily. Can this just be a temporary thing because my body is reacting to the Keto Diet ? Have a good day
Hi Dr Eric! Do you think you could help me. I am at a good weight and eat very healthy. I went to the doctors a year ago and they checked my hormones. Every thing was balanced except my androgens were slightly high. I never missed my period and didn’t have cysts, they checked my adrenals glands and everything looked fine so they told Me i did not have pcos and I’m not insulin resistant. I started taking reishi mushroom and tea for my liver and it helped my skin a ton. I went back to the doctor and they told me my androgens were now normal. The problem is although my androgens are normal and I’m eating healthy I still break out (just not as bad) and still get excess hair growth. I would also like to mention that I have had weak digestion and it seems I’m not digesting properly. Please Help Me! I have had this issues for 7 years. I also did a Candida cleanse and began taking probiotics and it helped but I still have the issues.
Thank you for this video. About two weeks ago, I researched my excessive oily skin because I knew something wasn't right. I read about androgens and bought DIM. I didn't know about zinc or about the adrenals and I am actually very stressed, so it makes sense now!
Thank you! Dr u r doing well : ) its been almost three years i used corticosteroids continously fir six months. Had q lot of side effects some of them are gone with time but some looks chronic like my syes are extremely sunken a dull and pale face and being underweight and no gain at all : ( im finding no cure for these problems plz tell me something i would be thankfull..
I've been struggling with oily skin for years and I hate it. This is the reason why I have white heads that never go away on my nose and cheeks. I have done research on oily skin and have tried to find the cause, with no luck. so, this is very interesting.
I've tried niacinamide, vitamin d3, vitamin A and L-lysin with no luck. I've also tried zinc, but the problem with that is that I don't take it everyday or often because it's 50mg tablets and it can lower copper levels. Plus I feel so bad after, like throwing up. Along those lines. I also tried hemp seed oil, which has a good balance of the omega 3s and 6s. Some days is worse than others, but I've had no luck so far in a consistently reduction of sebum production :/
I'll give this DIM a try. Hopefully it helps.
Wait, wiat, wait...
Testosterone is an androgen. Zinc is said to RAISE testosterone. Zinc deficiencies have been correlated to lower testosterone. Yet, you say zinc LOWERS androgens. Seems counter to the previous statement.
Also, if zinc DOES lower androgens, I'll take a little oily skin over not having low testosterone then. I dunno, seems a worthy trade-off.
Dr. Berg, I've become obsessed by studying moringa over the past couple of weeks. It's amazing and so full of nutrition and healing, in any form -- fresh leaves, pods, dried leaves, moringa oil, even the waste product of moringa processing is beneficial as a water purifier! I'd love to see you do a video about it. Listening to your conference call from today I hear you recommending cleansing the liver for help with lipomas. My dog has a growing lipoma and I've wondered what to do to help him. Moringa, I see, is good for liver cleansing; I'm going to try adding moringa to homemade (organic) food for him for a month and see how that goes.
Moringa...and while you're at it, ashitaba. Good stuff!
I've got worst case of oily skin you can imagine :( It's my worst insecurity when it comes to appearance. Have been trying many different tricks to minimize this problem for last 10 years (turning 22 today). Unfortunately without success. It's been my first month on keto and IF. No big change so far. Will try zinc or dim and see what happens :P
If this works, Dr. Berg will officially be my love and savior forever.
Hey doc, I have been watching your videos of how to burn fat, and I have a question which is: how to burn fat without losing muscle tissues. Because a low carb diet will definitely affect muscle mass? Really appreciate if you can help with this matter..
Hey doc... ive heard a lot about dim and the benefits. Whats a good dim supplement to get? Ive lost 40lbs so far doing keto/IF.. and have hit a point where its slowing down... but have also noticed what seems like estrogen dominance features like lower body fat.. will dim help with that?
Oily skin was passed down by my mother to me and I don't think of it as a bad thing at all; yes annoying sometimes, (because I need to wash my hair every other day) but, I'm very thankful and very blessed to have super oily skin because it keeps me/ you looking young/youthful. I look well over a decade younger due to my oily skin. You didn't mention the genes aspect of oily skin though. You're right though Doc because I only eat once or sometimes twice a day and eat very little if any sugar and my oily skin has definitely decreased lately. :)
One of the pros about reaching menopause is that my skin is less oily and it does not break out as much the way it did when I was younger and at the mercy of my hormones. I do still tend to break out a bit if I have too many carbohydrates or especially sugar, but nowhere near as bad as I used to. Now my skin seems to vary in its oiliness according to the season. My hair seems to be doing the same thing. I will look into the DIM supplements, though, because I am having other hormone issues that I could do without and prefer not to take any medication, which is why I refrain from mentioning this to anybody with a prescription pad.
Some of it is just genetic. Certain races, especially with deeper skin tones, can be very oily especially from the neck up, even if their bodies are dryer. It actually helps the skin look younger as we age, so it's not a bad thing, just annoying, especially if you wear makeup often. Just a splash of water and blot drying throughout the day can be good, and like he said, don't overwash as many people are tempted to do so.
Hey, could you maybe do a video about milk and their hormones and how they affect the body but especially the skin? Since I became vegan and obviously cut out dairy, my skin is so much better than before, so much clearer
Wow! This makes perfect sense to me. I’ve recently been eating in a surplus, so I have been eating more often in order to fit in all my calories. I have noticed that my face has been oilier & shining more, even with the winter weather setting in. This answers the question i asked myself only yesterday!!😃 THANK YOU. I think I’ll reduce my meal frequency & see if it goes back to normal.
Without healthy levels of dihydrotestosterone, the sex drive (especially in males), will plummet. You need it. Maybe not too much, but I wouldn't go just willy-nilly assuming it bad by default and trying to reduce it at all costs.
People assume that testosterone is what causes the sex drive, and it does in a way, but that's BECAUSE you need testosterone to convert into and have dihydrotestosterone at all.
OMG! Thank you Dr. Berg, I really needed this info, definitely looking into purchasing Zinc today and looking into trying DIM. Would be amazing if it works. SN: You look mighty healthy and great yourself Dr. Berg, skin is glowing, hair looks great and fit as ever👏🏾🙌🏾
Fascinating! I have the oiliest skin (great for anti-aging; bad for aesthetics). I've recently been tested for Addison's (and every other disease imaginable) and apparently my adrenals are "fine", but I find I only feel best when I eat one meal a day (OMAD) or at least less frequently. My skin has become less oily and it becomes especially balanced (no oil) when I'm doing a juice cleanse. Thank you for this gem!
*) Use bounty tissue for wiping the skin.
*) Wash skin with lemon water (lemon juice mixed with water) or wash with warm water and a cleanser.
*) Cut down on fatty, oily/fried and sweet/sugar foods.
*) Mix some baking soda with lemon juice and coconut oil for cleaning and exfoliating skin.
Moondancer 11 it doesn't cost anything, all you do is put in your name and email and then you can watch the specific videos and read the notes! It only takes maybe 15-20 minutes! There is no place to ask for a credit card or money! He offers this free of charge! Hope that helps.
Janet Newbill - if you’re talking about Whiteheads, use a salicylic acid product. It’s oil trapped under the skin that hasn’t surfaced yet. If it surfaced then the oil would’ve oxide and it would turn black - blackheads
