🛏️ How To Sleep Less, Have More Energy & Live Longer
Today I’m going to reveal how you can sleep less, have more energy and live longer.
I’ll also give you 10 specific ways you can get a more restful sleep, in less time…
Most of my life, I’ve been a “bad” sleeper. I’m super sensitive to sound and light.
My brain is always “on” …
And I’ve been like this my entire life.
Luckily, I don’t need much sleep.
In fact, most of life I’ve only needed about 6 hours asleep. And if I really optimized my nutrition, exercise, supplements and hormones, I needed even LESS sleep.
And the thing is, I wake up feeling pretty good and energized. I’ve never needed an alarm.
And if I did get little tired in the middle of the day, I’d take a quick 15-30 min nap and that’s all I needed to be back to 100% energy.
However, something in the back of my mind would keep saying “this isn’t healthy, you *should* be sleeping at least 7-8 hour a day, or more!”
So, I was always obsessed about sleeping more because I thought it was “good” for me, even though I really never needed it.
I thought my lack of sleep was probably aging me more.
However, the opposite is true.
Research shows that people who sleep “more”, actually die sooner than those who sleep less!
Recently there was an analysis of 16 separate sleep studies covering more than 1.1 million people. What was discovered is that 30% of people who slept more than 8 hours a night, died earlier, than those who slept 6 hours.1
And there have been other similar studies stating that sleeping 8 hours or more is worse for your health because of a variety of reasons -- such as an increase in inflammation, lack of movement, change in hormones, etc.
Okay, great… so sleeping less is good.
But what do you do when you NEED more sleep?
When you can’t seem to function on only 6 hours?
When you have such a hard time getting out of bed in the morning?
Well, Arnold Schwarzenegger jokes about this and says, “sleep faster”.
However, the real question is why do some people need more sleep than others?
And how can you sleep less and have even more energy?
Well, the real reason is that healthy people need less sleep.
When your body is healthy, it’s “fixing” everything in less time, you’re more efficient and you have better QUALITY of sleep.
Unless you’re growing and you’re below the age of 20, you don’t need as much sleep.
When you’re not healthy, your body is slow to recover because your body is either lacking in nutrients or your hormones aren’t optimized.
You’re doing the wrong things -- like eating the wrong foods, not exercising, going to bed late and throwing off your circadian rhythm and so forth.
So what you want to do is optimize your health, so you can repair and recover quicker at night and thus, get BETTER QUALITY of sleep.
Let me give you the 10 tips that have made the biggest improvements in my sleep and energy levels.
So, let’s first start with your sleeping habits as you get ready for bed.
Stop using all electronic devices, or least DIM the light on everything. I wear “blue blocker” glasses about 30-60 minutes before bed. Blue light keeps you awake.
Don’t take sleeping pills or drugs. You may sleep longer, but the quality is less. Not to mention they cause long-term memory loss and dementia.
Try to get to bed by 10pm and especially before midnight. This is when your hormones are optimized for sleep.
Make sure your room is dark and preferably around 68 degrees. Cooler helps you sleep better. I wear eyeshades and ear plugs.
Before going to bed, journal or write down what you’ve learned today and what you’re grateful for. If you don’t want to write it, at least think about it and FEEL it.
When you get up in the morning, go have 2 big glasses of water and take a total-body energy solution called Body Brain Energy. This formula gives your mind and body the exact nutrients it needs to maximize your energy levels - physically and mentally.
Exercise daily, preferably earlier in the day. Most of us don’t move enough or at all.
Eat less animal proteins because they slow down your repair.
Make sure you get some sunlight daily.
Don’t obsess over your sleep.
Thank you for watching. Please feel free to comment, like or share with your friends.

Dontor i have been taking Tribulus and Tongkat ali recommended by you for 7 days but now i have no sexual desire. The purpose for gaining muscle is my intend...yes i am gettimg more pumping but less desire. Is there a reason sir?
I hear about these situations often. About how people get no effects or sometimes, even worse, the OPPOSITE effect. Many times this has to do with the SOURCE of the ingredient. Many manufacturers and products use cheap extracts. They use low percentage of extracts. They’ll pick herbs and the wrong time of the season when their potency is less. And with Tribulus for example, many manufacturers and products ADD in the extract later, such as the Sapongenins and prtodioscin.
This is why I’ve spent years finding the right sources and manufacturers that give the best and highest herbal extracts. You can see them at http://drsam.co/yt/BeHarderLonger
The other reason is that your goal is not an increase in testosterone, but to KEEP your testosterone HIGHER. I am against taking these ingredients by themselves because even IF you found a good source (it’s rare and very expensive), the increase in testosterone is TEMPORARY. This is because as your testosterone increases, there will be more to convert to “negative” hormones such as estrogens, prolactin (female hormones) and DHT (the hair loss hormone).
Soon, there’s a DROP in testosterone and an INCREASE in these negative hormones. So your goal is to ALSO BLOCK the conversion of these “negative, aging” hormones.
Which is why I formulated Alphaviril for myself and my professional clients. I had run into similar problems like yourself. I was wasting time and money.
The endocrine system and your hormones is very complicated. That’s why you want an EXPERIENCED doctor to formulate these products. I hope this makes more sense.
Hey Dr. Robbins
Can you do a video about Multi Vitamins. I'm 21 years old who goes to the gym about 6 days a week & take many different supplements such as protein powder, creatine. I've recently wanted to incorporate a multi vitamin but I've been told that they're not healthy and could cause different health issues. Can you do a video addressing this? Thanks!
They aren’t unhealthy, just that most are poorly designed and are imbalanced. So, it’s a waste. Very good multi-vitamins are expensive and you’d have to take at least 6 pills daily. Keep up the good work - it’s great to do so at a young age. You’ll be thankful in the future =)
I did move to a Nutribullet supplement diet a few years ago and then with my wife telling me I snore I went to a CPAP test and lo and behold I needed one after I started CPAP therapy I could get away with 4 to 6 hours of sleep once in a while generally 6 hours and felt much better so absolutely quality sleep is where it is at whether it's ligh,t noise or any other interruptions mine was silent and unaware but you might mention CPAP.
Thank you for the suggestion, you’re right. Maybe I should do a video for it. But, before I do - I need to test this myself so I can give accurate advice. Was there a brand or type that you got that you like?
Why is it that every other animal on the planet goes to sleep when the sun goes down and raises when it comes up then? unless its nocturnal. Humans before electricity also slept like this.. how is it unhealthy? Any thoughts on this would be good
I don’t know why you’re saying it’s unhealthy. We SHOULD be doing the same. Modern life has ruined health. You’re correct – we should go to sleep around 9 pm and wake up around 6 am. That would be the best and ideal. Unfortunately, it’s just not possible for most of us because we can never have a social life =(
Hey, Dr. Robbins :-) Following a lot of your videos (diet, exercise, etc.) I've been sleeping very well, thanks! The most important thing, I think, is how well RESTED you feel, not necessarily how many HOURS you've slept. Agree? Thumbs up as always, Joe
Hi Joe, I know you've been a loyal commenter and watched! Thank you for trusting me and to answer your question: Yes, the goal is to make your body feel fully rested, and that's why I made the list with the 10 habits.
Yes, absolutely. I did that most of my life – 3 hours, 2x daily with a 30-60 min nap. It’s best for hormones. HOWEVER, it’s hard to do. If you can do it, then I would suggest it =) You’ll get more REM sleep and better hormones.
Dr Sam Robbins very true, but i dont have a habbit of sleeping 12 hours(that's way too much).
a few days ago i slept like..5 hours\night and i felt great and sometimes if i dont sleep 8hours i feel like crap.
i workout,i'm very active,i try to eat very healthy(no fast foods,no sugar,no "bad" carbs) and i try to go to sleep around 10:30-11:00 and i feel very good but we all have days.
i'm 20 maybe that's why
Your body will tell you to sleep 12 hours if in the past 5 years, you've slept 12 hours a day... Habits can have a good or bad impact on our overall health and this video is meant to help you cheat a little by making your body feel like you've slept enough, while you've only been sleeping for 5-6 hours.
I went from working in an office where I was up and moving around quite a bit (up and down stairs 15 times or more each day) to a job that I sit at a computer 9 hours a day with very little to no movement - and I can tell a huge difference over the past year. I usually come home and sit at the computer to do work for another couple of hours every evening and on weekends - and I feel I've aged 10 years just in the past 12 months. I feel like everything (mind, body, energy, digestion, etc) is off and out of whack because of it. Only odd thing is - I've lost weight instead of gaining.
