Boss Key Closing
Today, Cliff Bleszinski announced that Boss Key Productions (the developer of Radical Heights and LawBreakers) is officially shut down. This is following merely a month after their newest game, a battle royale named Radical Heights that saw some less than stellar reception.
Lawbreakers murdered, Radical Heights murdered, its all over man

I would suggest editing this video. You had a Brilliant Idea when discussing how to make a "Campy" and unique Battle Royale, which sounds much more interesting than any of the other things on the market, Go pitch that. I mean, if you could Ollie, into a Manual, into a drive-by with a *SUPER SOAKER* by having to adjust balance for the recoil of the awesome power of your legendary 3 barreled *SUPER SOAKER* (so you do knock yourself out of your combo) while also successfully hitting your opponent, and ending their combo. Would make for some awesome very awesome moments. Even if you left building Mechanics in----- Imagine going down a hill on your BMX with an UZI about to score a massive 720 backflip directly into a recently hole in the tower----- you wont make it your coming in too hot--- then your teammate makes you a Ramp, and you Barrel into it at top speed, a Grenade gets thrown in- to prevent them from patching the hole before you make it. Then you execute your 720, hop off the bike in Glorious Bullet time, pull out your *Akimbo SUPER SOAKERS* and just start shooting like looking like Deadpool----
Basically if you could put together a team with the budget to make whatever you would call your "Tony Hawk Battle Royale" Game, and actually make it work, with fun and interesting mechanics, Solid Gameplay, and most of all the Cheesy Glitz and Glam, Grunge Music and a Kill Cam Shot in like a Fish Eye Lens for some "Sick Footage.". Good Map Design to Encourage the use of the additional Travel Mechanics, hidden Guns and stuff in places that would require exploration to find. Also make Stylish kills more rewarding than just waiting somewhere and shooting someone with some kind of Currency.
Add Customization to your Boards, unlockable basics a steady rate, and do exclusive "Rad" Bmx's and Deck's in the Cash Shop---
Just skins of course but, I mean *RAD* Skins.
Well, I am salty because I myself would like a chance to be apart of new games, but we keep getting these studios headed by the old vanguard of developers who have lost touch with what it means to be "players" and to evolve with the new online culture.
+Skylent Games You sound entitled in that video but at the same time. You are very right. Cliffy B just wasn't Cliffy B anymore and its like I suppose the corporate life changes you. But you also sounded like you were saying all this from your heart too so I understand the way you said it.
Lol literally doubling the damage of every ability on every champion would have been positive improvement for Gigantic. That easy. I really wanted that game to take off. It was beautifully unique. Just really bad planning. Both financially and via lack of direction.
But hey man... Path of Exile league coming out in June looks hype af! I'd love to see a video from you listing the top 10 gaming companies that listen to their community (in the good way... also you can work on that title). You can start with GGG right there.
This point can be escalated to way beyond just the gaming industry. It's the story of our lives. Big companies get bogged down, distanced from reality. They are too big, they can't afford to fall, so they no longer take risks. Yet smaller ones have trouble starting, or perhaps people in general are too afraid of risks so you have many talented people "settling" instead of "venturing". And those who do venture, there is so little support, that they often fail hard and don't look back. Passion, resilience, and flexibility --- unfortunately even the most talented people tend to only have 2 out of the 3, yet we absolutely need all 3 of those. Some give up too early, hey with their talent they can just get a lazy boring job and live fine, why not, they're tired, they're lost, they've got no one to help them, they just give up. Some lose their passion, it becomes a job, it becomes systematic, it becomes something that one does to earn bread instead of something that you earn bread, stay alive, just so you can do. And some break, they are too inflexible. In chaos they cannot find the right way to adapt, so they did the only thing they could, and they just kept on doing exactly the same thing not listening to anyone, not even their own doubts. We live in a world with a LOT of noises. If you listen to those noises ALL THE TIME you'll be shapeless. But if you don't listen to these noises AT ALL you'll be irrelevant. That balance is hard to keep.
Lawbreakers and radical heights were both exceptionally fun games at their peaks, but because both suffered from awful launches they couldn't gain any traction. For both of these games people formulated their opinions early the games' lifespans and while you are right, lawbreakers and radicals heights were both shitshows for a while, but in the end both managed to turn into good games that couldn't find an audience
Starting from the time when LB begin to receive a lot of critics and Cliffy told press to fuck off every piece of news related to Bosskey was a laugh to me, because every report was about another fail or something that will lead to one. I never meant evil to the studio tho. Cliff had to much ego and very tunneled vision. RIP. I will laugh my ass out if something will pop in gaming industry up like MOBA's did with LOL, or CCG's with Hearthstone or BR's with PUBG, and Cliff will show up with some new project (i don't mean any of mentioned games invented the genre or was first, they just make it... pop).
you have no clue about developing and talk only BS! RH wasnt pay2win ! The Game was in a Good State after this short Time from 6 Months! BUGP has more Problems after 2 Years! The Netcode worked better and the Performance too, some interesting Ideas for the BR Genre. The first 2 Patches fixed so much, better then any AAA Developer!
I played this game 20h I think in the first release it was bugy but in the nxt update they fix 70%of them and they listen to our replays like bike tricks i dont think they was int listen to the community it just need a try alot think the best f2p br is fortnite and they was like I got the best br why I lost my time such a shit game like this sometimes u play with 80 bot in a game or more i think the same think that happened to gigantic...
There's a difference between being a critic and an asshole. In this video youre being the latter.
Sure the games were not successful, for one reason or another.
Sure we can probably get away with calling them terrible.
But to kick someone who is down already, isn't right and you should strongly refrain from it because it makes you look bad as a person.
I was going to unsubscribe, but I think you were emotional invested and it affected you. Its good to speak from the heart, that's your niche, but as a public speaking figure you have to have your balancing act down.
I agree about LawBreakers not having soul. The characters were bland. There weren't any story deep enough to stick your teeth into. World Bending was barely there. Also LawBreakers wasn't open to almost everyone who would want to play. A good game does this. League of Legends, Fortnite, or Overwatch has enough there for everyone to feel accepted. They could have fun either if they're good or bad or just there for that character or event. Fortnite as an example. I suck at Fortnite, it's very fun, and the 20v20 game mode makes me feel like I matter. Overwatch as another example. Playing against a pro genji player and I suck at aiming. Blizzard made Symmetra just for me. Hold left click and watch the body count lol. League of Legends have SOOOOOOOOO many characters and lore there is a lot to get into.
LawBreakers had a lot of great artists, animators, 3D modelers, but no good world builders or writers. As you said it lacked soul. Radical Heights had enough soul there, but that game was rushed out. Shitted out even. It was so early alpha it didn't make sense to even call that early access. That was way too early access. LawBreakers should have been remade. LawBreakers: Reloaded or something lol. GO FREE TO PLAY WITH COSMETIC MICROTRANSACTIONS DAMMIT!
Man I really don't like the ugly creepy ass art style of Warframe, but I'm glad that game is still around. They did the work to revive that game. Ubisoft has taken the same route. They're deciding to not abandon their games, but support them.
Not gonna lie, kinda threw me for a loop. At 1st you spoke on how you wanted to be like the guy, the heavy heart, you wanted to work for them and all that. Then you just went in. Took them cheeks, no lube. Thought it was going to be a somber farewell type thing. Negative~
On another note, I will miss lawbreakers. Never played the game, but as with online games that I see finally get shutdown. I can't help but feel that the character models are wasted. Like with Paragon, and Gigantic before it. Those models could've been put to use somewhere else.
N3cr0 X3n0bi4 imo fortnite didn't kill Paragon, I played paragon from close beta to v32, which I couldn't take anymore what they did to the game
1. They never hear or reply to the community feedback
2. They took away the aspects that make paragon different from other MOBA'S
3. They claim changes were done based on feedback, without quoting the people who gave it
4. Streamers and content creators never speak out against the changes, despise the voices of the players who even were founders. You can even check their channels, when someone commented giving bad feedback , they never answer.
5. Epic Games never interacted with the community who had an opinion different than them.
They learned from the mistakes they made on paragon, but they will never admit they made those mistakes, they will protect "We did everything, but sadly didn't work",
If Bosskey had just made _Lawbreakers_ FTP from the outset, it would _still_ be bangin' despite being rather generic. It was _fun,_ and it never got the chance to really build up a following because of the devs' absolutely idiotic business decisions.
I find it very funny how he had the audacity to release a game in development for about 5 months into a market thats so well established and full expected to bring all the players over when all he did was take h1z1 , send it 40years into the past and redesigned it. And added slot machines.
Blahidontcare11 It tried to compete with Overwatch with the same price as $60 then the overwatch community ridicuped it to be an Overwatch clone therefore reducing its already low playerbase to a double digit peak players a day. But now I dont know if they even reach double digit players
Yeah this game had great idea's and great mechanics just the optimization and texture work wasn't to the liking of a lot of people. This game had the potential to be very good as a fast paced arcade BR. Fortnite is just to slow and boring running forever and then camp in your tower. This game had a lot of diversity. Hopefully H1Z1 can bring their game back from the dead because its the first BR game that was actually decent before DBG said fuck the community.
